When using speakerphone, other side can't hear me

On stock Sense, latest software as far as I know--
Everything works fine, except that if I am on a phone call and I'm using speakerphone, I can hear the caller just fine, but the caller can't hear any audio from my side. If I switch to the normal earpiece, everything returns to normal.
Does speakerphone use the mic by the headphone jack? Anyone else heard of this issue? Is something in the software for some reason muting the mic when I change to speakerphone?
Thanks,
Did you ever get it fixed?
I have the same problem.

[Q] Low in-call microphone volume

Hello,
when i get a call or call someone my microphone volume is very low, so no one can here me. If i blow in to the microphone or speak loud and directly in it the other side hears it, but with very low volume.
If i record audio with WhatsApp everything is fine. Factory-reset hasn't solved the problem.
Do you guys know what to do to fix this?
Greetings,
EZTEQ
I got the opposite issue, while recording a video the audio is fine but on whatsapp and calls its low. Changed roms and every single one is the same, I wonder if there is any setting we can poke into.
Anyone please?

Issue with sound using headphones

Hello, it seems im experiencing the exact same issue as here: http://en.miui.com/thread-81318-1-1.html
I tried latest MIUI / CM12.1, can anyone else confirm it? Is this a software issue? Any fixes possible? It's extremely annoying..
To test it it's best to put very low volume using headphones and whenever sound is playing there is this hiss / noise.. when sound/music stop the noise also stops after 2-3 seconds or so.. And it happens only with headphones, no problem with speakers..
I tried 3 different headphones, some have higher and some lower noise but i can notice on all..
Anyone else?

Muffled Mic

Sound recording and video recording both sound muffled. Anyone experiencing this issue? I think it might be noise cancelling is too aggressive but I am not so sure what is causing it.
Any adjustment for the noise cancelling or on/off?

There's only noise cancelling setting for calls. No noise cancelling settings for video or audio recording

Thanks for the information! That'll be one of the first things that I check! I just bought a new Garmin GPS hoping that the sound will be loud enough to hear with the car window open (Spring and Fall)... My Note 3 isn't... I have an older car without a Bluetooth radio setup... So at least I don't have to worry about the phone volume for that anymore... Have you tried music and headphones, yet? I will be using it at the gym...

I'm not having that issue, sound and video recordings sound great.
I have the same issue too. The recorded sound is very quiet.

sound distortion using whatsapp

hi
just got a new xperia 5. The phone has some really bad audio distortion when video calling with Whatsapp or speaker phone voice calls. It sounds like the audio volume is far too high for the speakers causing lots of crackling and distortion. Its as if a speaker is plugged into an amp that is far too powerful for it. Has anyone else experienced this, or got any suggestions on how to fix it? Or do I need to send the phone back.
I've tried turning off dynamic vibration and dolby atmos, but no difference.
The issue only seems to occur with WhatsApp video or voice calls on speaker phone. It doesn't happen for standard GSM calls even on speaker phone or if playing a recorded message or video through whatsapp. Other apps don't seem to have any problems.
In WhatsApp I can kind of fix the problem by turning the volume down by about 30% but then the speaker volume is a bit too quiet.
