Did you have unlocked bootloader? You can't do it in stock recovery.
Tap several times in in the number of miui version, in the image to be exactly and a messaje will appear about the activate additional update features, then try the three dots again and you will see chose the update package.
Youre welcome

This way will work with OTA package only. Most probably he got the recovery package, so it will not work. He has to search for an OTA package on MIUI 12 telegram or so, to put it in internal storage in a folder called "donwloaded_rom" (if it not exist he can creat it) and then he can follow your advice.

This is just a copy past flashing method, internal updater worked for me, I'm now on MIUI 10, just backup your data
Its worked for me to. Botloader locked and miui 10. You need to create a folder named downloaded_rom and put the .ZIP in this folder. Before, Go to updater app , ... Menu and choose the update package. The update erase ALL tour data, do a backup first

I updated to the newest global beta. Simply downloaded it and used the system updater and pointed it to the zip file I downloaded and it did the rest.
Will this newest global beta get OTA updates as new versions are released? That's my big question.
Thanks!

Hi, don't worry you'll get OTA for new updates.
But I still don't know if we'll have an OTA to switch from last beta to first MIUI 10 Stable global release.
It worked for me. Thanks for the tips.

That's what keeps me away from going to Miui 10 so far. I dont want to restore my files two times (going to beta and going back to stable). If I could be sure that I would get a normal ota Update from beta to stable I would also try out the Beta

Probably no, normally only via fastboot method, but for that, you will need to unlock the bootloader first, so request the unlock permission now, because there is a 360h waiting time
Does installing the latest beta break any functionality? Safety net is primarily what I'm worried about. I like my Google Pay.

Answered my own question. Google Pay does not work. That's so odd given you don't need to unlock your bootloader to install this beta.
Yesterday XIAOMI Mi5 has get a new update.
About TWRP aborts the update, because firmware MIUI 8.8.30 is required as a minimum requirement.
However, I find these not to download - does anyone have a link?
Regards & Thanks
Same here, does anyone can provide the download link ? Thank you
same here and the last update that worked has some bugs.
Apps crashing, battery drains etc.
Was hoping the new update would have fixed these issues but alas
I cannot get TWRP to flash giving the same error about MIUI 8.8.30

This is to all of you, you can't apply stock OTA updates on rooted devices or devices that have TWRP installed. Stock OTA updates require an unmodified system partition(meaning no root, no Xposed, no root mods of any kind).
OTA updates also require stock recovery, not TWRP.
You can all try flashing any stock firmware for your device then wait for the update notification then try the update process.
To those of you that have TWRP installed, this is a good example of why it is so important to create a nandroid backup of your stock ROM before you modify anything on the device. If you had that nandroid backup, you could restore the backup, then flash a copy of your stock recovery, then unroot the device, then wait for the update notification, then you'd be able to apply the current update. Then after applying the update, root the device again and flash TWRP again, then create a new nandroid backup of the updated stock ROM and delete the older backup from before the update.

I am running Lineage OS 15.1 when it applies the nightly update I get this error.
So what you are saying is they updated to MIUI 10 which as what I can see updates to MIUI 8.8.30 which includes new code
that TWRP and Lineage cannot install over. Also there is this Xiaomi's anti rollback that is installed as well so I am guessing
either live with the last Lineage OS update or install stock MIUI and call it day.

Oh, you mean a nightly update of LOS?
Maybe the MIUI update contained a bootloader update and the new builds of LOS were built to work with the new bootloader?

Interesting I encountered the same problem. Lineage Cannont update because 8.8.30 stock ROM Miui is required.
Simply download latest available miui firmware. Via TWRP install it and then immediately install latest LineageOS.
Here is the link to the new MIUI

Hi,
No guide needed. I did this many times.
Flash the official global via TWRP if rooted, flash TWRP installer after reboot into TWRP, flash MAGISK, reboot all good.
NOT ROOTED, update via phone update software setting in settings menu(THREE DOT MENU, top right ) find your official downloaded zip and update.
I am not rooted. I tried the phone update software, it says the global version is older than my current EU version. I downloaded the 1.0.0.1 one and i am on EU 1.0.0.1

hi, my OnePlus 7T is not rooted, so when I "update via phone update software setting in settings menu(THREE DOT MENU, top right ) find your official downloaded zip and update"
Will this way wipe my phone`s data? There are more than 100 APPs installed in my phone, so a little worried.

Ha!Thanks for your quick reply, big help to me.
My device (Poco X2) Is running on MIUI 11.0.10. stable version. For some reason I missed the next update which is the MIUI 11.0.11. ....... And now in system update menu, the updates are only available for MIUI 12. But I don't want to update my phone to MIUI 12 BECAUSE IT HAS SOME LEGGING ISSUE. So I want to update my phone to MIUi 11.0.11 from MIUI 11.0.10, but I don't want to update my phone to MIui 12. But in system updater there is only option to update my phone to miui 12 , which I don't want to update to. Now how can I update to Miui 11.0.11 from 11.0.10 ? I want to update from 11.0.10 to 11.0.11 !!!! because 11.0.10 has battery drain issue.

Hello guys,
I want to flash a ROM, not a custom one it's a stock firmware, TWRP is installed. The ROM I want to flash is for my Device and Model but it's for android version 12 and I am currently running android 11. So my question is, do I flash like normal ? Meaning, I run the flash_all batch file or do I have to update android manually ?
Specifically I am trying to flash Xiaomi's MIUI V13.0.12.0SJDEUXM and I currently have V12.5.4.0RJDEUXM. I would just update using the OEM but for some reason the update is not available for me, my brother has the exact same phone as me (Xiaomi Mi 10T) and he got the update (he updated with the OEM to Version V13.0.12.0SJDEUXM, that's why I am flashing it since I know it works). I also have a Redmi Note 9 that also got the update.
Googling it came up really empty and I couldn't find this question bein asked anywhere (except a 2016 stackoverflow that propably has outdated information)
I also wanted to root the device so I will be installing Magisk V25.2 and I just want to make sure it will work with the updated version (I did my own research and I am pretty sure, just wanted to be 100%)
Thank you all!
You can tap a few times on miui logo ( when checking updates) and you should have activated some settings in right corner, and click on choose package
Settings --> About Phone --> Miui Version --> Tap a few times on miui logo and check right up corner --> Choose update package --> and select your *recovery* rom with latest version like your brother phone's

OK perfect thanks ! And this will also install android 12 as well ? From what I understand I need to download it and copy it to my phone storage first right ?
Also I can't really understand the difference between recovery rom and fastboot rom. I read somewhere that the fastboot rom is "considered a more advanced version of the recovery ROM.", is that true ?

So you download your android 12 recovery rom, and choose it from the miui update settings, maybe it will work, it no, try flashing the fastboot rom with miflashtool.
Yea yea, download the recovery rom, and put in like download folder, and then... Settings --> About Phone --> Miui Version --> tap few times on miui logo and you know what to do next
Ok great thanks! I will give it a try !
