UPDATE:
I have baseband wifi and bluetooth back but my IMEI is still showing up as 0 and no signal. I know the phone is reading the sim because I can see the phone number saved on the sim info.
Also getting "OEM_NV_Backup The NV Partition is invalid!" when I boot OxygenOS
Does anyone know where I can get 16GB installs for ColorOS and OxygenOS? I have a 16GB phone but when I use the msm download tool to install ColorOS I end up with a 64GB install.
Do you have any backup for the EFS partition?
I had same problem about EFS partition and No IMEI too. So I am almost sure that flashing completely untouched official Oxygen OS downloaded straight from official site will solve your problem as it did mine. Just download "Build" from here (oneplus forum) and flash it with latest TWRP. After that you'll get your fully working network connectivity back. Then just flash any other ROM you like, but look for perfect modem first (c6 works best in Asia and c7 rest of the world, but try both if you want). All the best :fingers-crossed::good:

gonna try that now, should I take any other steps before flashing in twrp like wiping anything?
so I tried installing oxygen through twrp but I was getting error 7 (phone is marked as A0001 and install is marked for OnePlus). I tried using the files and instructions from the oxygen 2.14 thread and somehow my phone hard bricked lol, I've learned so much about this phone in the last 2 months.
Gonna throw ColorOS on there and try going straight to OxygenOS from there.
So I had to wipe everything (system, cache, etc) before twrp let me install oxygen. I got oxygen installed but now it loops in oneplus screen and I got this issue come up after installation finished
Some more progress... was able to install oxygen os finally and it look like I'm almost done coming back from this nightmare. Baseband is back, WiFi and Bluetooth work, now just need to see about restoring my iemi, I've found some info on how to restore imei so I'll try that tomorrow sometime after waking up. I've learned so much about this damn phone! !
My bottom screen has also stopped working. The replacement screen you brought from, it is original or clone?? How does it feel to the screen when you buyed the phone from your friend. And i hope you'll get back your imei too

It's not original. Screen is fine the only downside to non oem front assembly is that that capacitive buttons will not be as bright, some have reported that they don't light up at all, seems to be luck of the draw.

As I can see from your screenshot from previous reply, you are not using official ROM. Completely official ROM is named as "OnePlus_Bacon_OxygenOS_201601190107". There was no need to wipe internal storage. Use this guide to modify the updater script. It worked for me perfectly. Then flash it and just boot into ROM. I was able to recover everything including IMEI number by this method.
And yeah, I feel the same way. I've learned so much from our beloved Bacon

You have baseband so your imei is back
yet another update
installed oxygenos with twrp, I have baseband wifi and everything but no data signal and my IMEI is 0
I've hit yet another wall :crying:
Why isn't there a 16GB version of ColorOS and OxygenOS? When I install ColorOS via msm download tool I end up with a 64GB install, I think this might be causing my "OEM_NV_Backup The NV partition is invalid!" issues as well.
Just need to resolve those two issues, bad nv partition and my IMEI being 0
Anybody know where I can get a 16GB version of colorOS, I have a feeling I overlooked something I was supposed to tweak

I don't understand why you are not flashing official Oxygen OS even after saying it solved each and everything for me?? And since it is official, it is bound to support 16 GB variant as well.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/tool-oneplusrecovery-tool-v1-0-restore-t2991851
Ok, so the link I posted should be a last resort. You will find a recovery tool that I used when my IMEI would not return correctly. Follow all instructions, but do note that this will completely wipe everything, and if I remember correctly, that includes all personal files. The tool should land you back on the original software (like CM11S). I say try EVERYTHING else people tell you first before doing this. You're essentially starting over your phone. Good luck!
EDIT: Your recovery will be stock as well.

I did flash the official one. I used the link from the oneplus page that takes me to a forum post. At first I wasn't able to do it with twrp but afterwards I was able to
I did it once with the tool they provided and a second time through twrp, imei still 0

Aww, I'm sorry man. Best of luck finding a solution.
I updated to oreo but after flashing twrp I noticed that I can't use it because it's asking for decryption key.
How do I fix this? I found some post with a method to flash the rom without encryption but I'd like to keep the encryption if possible.
I think a factory reset fixed it the last time on nougat but last night my phone froze mid wipe which broke pretty much everything and took me a while to fix so I want to make sure this helps before doing it again

TWRP is not fully supported under Oreo. It can't handle the full disk encryption. I've read that it is possible to set PIN / password *before* TWRP is installed and then it would work with the pass or pin you set before. But this didn't work for me. And I think there is no point in using it. Backup / restore function don't work and there might be more functions do not work.
If it's for magisk, there is also a way to install it without TWRP and / or there is no need to have access to storage. Installer just patches the ramdisk and you're good to go in ignoring the errors.

So what are you using instead if you want to flash something? I found some posts saying you can get twrp working with the encryption if you do a factory reset and data format in twrp, that way you should get encryption that twrp can read but I've tried this several times and my phone refuses to boot every time, it's not even boot looping, it just stays on that blue honor loading screen and with the little animation in the text so it didn't freeze. If I then try to do a factory reset in stock recovery it stops on 99%, forcing me to reboot, it then starts over and jumps to 100 and when it boots up pretty much all apps are gone, even system apps and keyboard apps so you can't type. If I try factory reset again the same thing happens, stops at 99 and so on
Now I have to recover it through erecovery.
Yea, I patched stock boot in the manager instead

I didn't come in the situation to want to flash sth - except magisk. And I didn't want to try it as it gains no access to internal storage.
Boot screen takes up to 30 mins or more after formatting storage. Kernel encrypts it during this time. I cannot say if TWRP is able to read this encryption since it is hardware based. I think it is possible as TWRP should use same kernel on treble ROMs - as far as I know.
So... Just being very patient could make it - theoretically.
Let me know if it can :good:

It does. And I tried it already right after flashing RROS system image (treble) and before setting a PIN and / or after removing PIN.
Look here https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/help/internal-storage-encryption-t3452737 for background knowledge about this encryption.
Only way to get TWRP fully working on our device is to remove encryption through formatting the storage. But the kernel will encrypt every time while booting and TWRP will not be able to access storage anymore.
With the Nougat custom ROMs this was not relevant because they were using LOS kernel not the stock one. Treble ROMs are using stock kernel - which is, of course, an advantage.
And I didn't get TWRP to work *with* encryption (with entering PIN or whatsoever). I hope anybody can and tell me how to do or what I did wrong
Also I want a (safe) way to use it. Specially as I know that it's use is not supported by OpenKirin Team it should be safe before I really want to use it.

You can Format Data (removes encryption) and edit /vendor/etc/fstab.xxxx and remove the fileencryption line on /data.
I don't have an Honor 8 so I can't check it, but this is how it was done on Mate 9/10 before we got TWRP with decryption on Oreo.
Of course, flashing a new firmware will replace fstab so you'd have to edit it again/restore previously edited one.
Edit: Also, for fun, default password for decryption is "default_password", so you could try that. It most likely will do nothing. This is done automatically when you have no password/pin set.

Oh ok, never knew it could take that long but I guess it makes sense. At one attempt I even waited 20-30min ?
I'll give it another shot when I got some time over.
But I just finished restoring everything from hisuite and changing back all my settings for the 6th time since hisuite don't save your system settings.
Do you know if it's possible to make a nand backup without twrp? Getting a complete nandroid backup would really help when you're not sure if the factory reset will help

Unfortunately there is no way. Only with HiSuite or sth else. If your device is rooted you can use TitaniumBackup. It can provide a more complete backup of apps, app-data and settings.

Hi.
I use the fstab mod and do a full data format in TWRP. After that the data partition decrypted, but FRP locked, oem unlock grayed and I can't do set my google account. If I want to set the google account, the process is start but the screen is turn to black (navigation buttons show on the bottom of the screen) and nothing more. Some seconds later its drop me back to settings page.
TWRP installed.
Bootloader unlocked
Rooted with Magisk
FRP locked
Stock recovery not flashed back because HWMT show FRP locked

Install a full package via dload method. Take an 'unbrick' guide from the guides section if you need. You can use a 'FullOTA' package for your region which you can download with FirmwareFinder by TeamMT.

Yes it did! Happened to me and it's worth the try because you can't do anything wrong with this method.
Downloading the firmware can take some time, but I found a fast mirror after googling around.
Best of luck and please post an update

Thanks for the tip, but unfortunately, it didn't work i flashed the latest cp and bl file and it didn't bring back my imei
any other solutions?
I already tried flashing the combination rom with odin v3.11.1 and i selected auto reboot, re-partition, nand erease all, f.reset time, efs clear and bootloader update also no luck, i clicked on ime and entered *#06# to see or i got my imei back and nope i also wiped my full efs before flashing the rom, this problem sounds more serious then i've ever thought it would be
it would be great to have some idea's to fix this...
last time when i had this problem on my phone i wiped my full efs and installed sac23's s9 port rom suprisingly it did help me bring back my imei now i did that again and no luck, the problem also is that i used twrp to delete my efs now twrp doesnt recognize my efs so it shows that my /efs is empty and root explorer says that it has files in it i need to wipe efs with twrp like i did before because if i delete it while i have my phone on it gets rebuilded again? files keep coming back but my imei, signal are not coming back its weird, i tried samsung kies and smart switch but it says SM-G935F not supported
the combination rom also keeps getting cp crash error, it so after a short moment in the combination rom it reboots in cp crash mode or something like that with green and red text
UPDATE: IMEI is NOT 0 anymore, but its not correct, the imeisv numer is now at the end of the imei number which means its now a 16 number imei, it also says simcard not provisionized please help me guys
UPDATE: [SOLVED] I can use my phone 100% again,
I fixed it I accidentally switched my simcard to a simcard that was suspended,
Now for the people also have problems,
1. Go to twrp
2. Make sure Efs has been checked at mount
3. Go to file manager
4. Go to /efs and delete everything in it (DO NOT DELETE /EFS IT SELF OR ELSE PHONE WONT BOOT!! ONLY DELETE WHATS IN IT)
5. now flash a new rom directly without restarting your phone after deleting whats in your efs or else your efs will rebuild, now it should work, if your imei is changed and it says sim not provisoned then just change your simcard because that error message means you have been suspended or your sim is inactive

So basically I can flash any Oreo custom rom and the EFS would repair ?
I have the Z3X box and I tried to repair the IMEI by entering my IMEI but unfortunately I made a 1 digit mistake.
The IMEI was written ok but did not Patch the certificate, at the time was on Binary 2, the phone got automatically update with latest stock (Binary 5), now can't repair IMEI nor patch the certificate (it would require downgrade to 7.0 which is not possible with Binary 3+).
Any idea ?

Hi guys,
I have a slight problem here, I was using my rooted with magisk and running lineageos17. Unfortunately, bluetooth wasnt working so I reverted back to stock, which fixed the bluetooth problem. I tried rooting the thing then with this method:
https://www.xda-developers.com/install-android-oreo-samsung-galaxy-s7-exynos/
Unfortunately though, this killed my imei. I tried restoring my efs partition with twrp; even tried reflashing the stock firmware, all to no avail, my imei is gone.
Is there any way I can restore it or have I turned my phone into a fancy paperweight now?
Would be cool if anyone could offer me some help,
best wishes,
derelektrischemoench
// edit: I managed to get twrp installed and was able to restore my twrp- backup which i had made before this whole endeavour and voila: the device is back online, has an imei and is able to connect to a network. Hell yea. Thread can be closed, I guess.
Hello, I have been struggling with an issue in my moto e5. I unlocked bootloader & installed custom roms. Then I thought I should go back to the stock rom & I did so. But after booting up, mobile data doesn’t work (No service). Auto rotation doesn’t work. Also it can't detect when I pick up my phone. But in custom roms, there is no issue like this! I flashed stock rom using rescue and smart assistant tool. I also did flash using fastboot commands batch file. But the issue persists.
Next I found that imei is lost in stock rom. So I installed custom rom, backed up "efs" from twrp, installed stock rom & restored the efs. I got my imei numbers back! But no service and auto rotation issue is still there along with other disabled sensors.
What else should I backup and restore? Or what should be my next steps?
