Clock app working on non samsung phone - Samsung Gear Sport

I guess it's pretty straight forward: I'm looking for the typical clock app, but mainly i want to set a timer and see the remaining time on my watch. If i remember when i had a samsung phone the was pretty easy but now i don't have it anymore but a different Android phone.
I thought it wouldn't be hard to find, but after searching for quite a while i didn't find anything. Is there really no app that can do that if i don't have a samsung?

I’m going to try to be as thorough as I can. I personally like this watch. I haven’t worn a watch in ages though so it’s been nice to have it instead of packing my phone around. That aside, it’s ok. I wore this a week and a half before this review. The battery was 99% when i took it from the box. I finally charged it 7 days later when it was 15%, though I could have easily gone another day. The notifications work most of the time. I have had stretches where I wasn’t getting them, could have been a Bluetooth issue?? I accidentally wore it in the shower so it is water resistant. I had a few times that it would restart itself randomly, twice in a row. I can’t say the steps are accurate because on a very busy day, my phone said I had 2000 more than the watch said I had and I had left my phone in the car on a couple errands. It seems to Be decently accurate for sleep tracking. I am up a decent amount because I nurse a baby multiple times at night. It doesn’t catch all of my awake time but it’s nice to have a tiny picture of my sleep. I used sport mode for some yoga and I hit save but it wasn’t in my log once I saved it. My week worked out I wasn’t able to try again due to injury from falling on ice. I never had trouble with the screen turning on at all.

[Q] App that tells time when asked

I'm rather near sighted so unless I duct tape the alarm clock to my head I have no chance in hell to actually see the numbers displayed on it at night without contacts or glasses. I've been looking around for app that does one simple thing: tell me the time when i say "time" (or something similar).
My search so far has come up mostly short. I found an app that tells me the time when I shake, touch, or wave my hand over the device. There are also half a million bad Siri knockoffs that will tell me the time if I push a button. However what I really want is an app that monitors audio the entire night and doesn't need to be prodded in any way to notice me speaking to it.
There has to be something out there that can do this. I mean, the built in voice thing responds to "hi galaxy" which could in theory work if it would just understand when I ask it for the time. There are also sleep recorders and such apps that obviously don't mind monitoring audio all night long, as long as you plug it in so power isn't an issue.
Does anyone have any ideas for such an app?
EDIT: If I'm to be very feature-greedy I also wouldn't mind if it turned on the LED when I say "lights" or something like that, but I imagine that's more than just a little bit unlikly to exist

The device doesn't really matter, such app should run on any device.

I will give it a shot after my exam on thursday, but no promises , already have some cool ideas .
You should be aware that this is not battery efficient at all and if your phone is not connected to a charger it might run empty during the night.

Of course, as I said that's what sleep talk monitors require too.
I did actually find something...on my iPad. There are a couple of apps like that on iOS. I ended up with one where you simply clap to hear the time. Hasn't been updated in ages but still works. There's another one that you actually say "time" to but I think you need to say its name to wake it up first, so didn't even try that one.
Would definitely prefer to have it on Android though, so would be awesome f you got something working

Seems that development simply stopped on that one. Not been updated in ages. Having to say "hello kei" every time is indeed annoying
Spent my first night with the clap activated clock on the iPad. Wow, this truly makes a world of difference to someone like me who's practically blind without glasses or contacts. Ended up waking up a few times during the night, especially close to the time to get up, so being able to get the time without fumbling around for glasses and actually waking up in the process literally made it easier to sleep too

[Q] HRM Troubleshooting and Speaker Buzz

Ive had the Gear 2 for 6 days. I bought it last thursday, put it on and paired it in the parking lot and then went to the gym. While riding the recumbent bike I noticed the heart rate monitor was accurate and matched up with the bike's up until around 125 bpm and then it would either give me the "cannot measure" error or would give back a really inaccurate reading... like 71 bpm when it should have been around 148-150. This has been the case every time i go to the gym, no matter how i wear the Gear 2, on the top side of my wrist or the bottom side. I actually live chatted with a Samsung Customer service rep and he told me to do a factory reset to see if that would help. I haven't gone to the gym to see if this helped.
Is this a known issue? I also shaved the hair off my wrist and am now wearing it a bit further up on my arm to test it again today when i go to the gym.
Also another question i had is when you turn the volume all the way up (level 6) when using the gear 2 as a speaker phone is it normal for the speaker to buzz slightly when a person is talking to you?

I have this issue for only a few minutes in an hour workout... but then it will go back to normal. I compared it to a strap heart rate monitor and it would stay +1-5 versus the strap. Otherwise it even gets up to 170 when I go hard. I usually start with it higher on my arm because my bone sticks out sometimes it doesn't get a good connection, but it usually falls and still tells accurately. Otherwise I would say it is accurate a majority of the time.

Yeah it must be how close I wear it to that bone. I actually took my first one back thinking there was something wrong with it... The problem is i have a big wrist... I think I will replace the band. Thanks for the reply!

Android Wear - A preproduction?

I'll make no excuse for the title as it seems to fit quite well for how I feel about it.
About two weeks ago I purchased a Sony SW3. Lovely watch and kindof does what I want BUT.... Android wear seems little more than a proof of concept.
At the risk of infuriating AW fans, here are some of my observations:
- I turn gestures off, but the watch still turns itself on when I turn my wrist, this is intermittent behaviour but this can't be rocket science to fix and I'm on V5!
- Was travelling somewhere strange the other day and I routinely add the address of where I'm going to my diary entry (Google calendar). When I was reminded to leave, I was offer the opportunity to navigate there, but I was using a train for most of the journey so only wanted to use navigate when I got the the end station. Call up the 'agenda' entry on my watch, can see the entry, can see the address, but do you think I could get the navigate function to work... NO, touching the address didn;t work, voice commands didn't recognise the foreign restaurant name, and I had no way of entering the address manually! Arrgh
- Cards/notices appearing. What a lovely feature, each time I get a message, email or whatever, my watch lights up and buzzes. Really? Ok I can see that some will find this useful, but really I want to gentle reminder , eg a buzz and if it's convenient I'll see what caused it by switching it on. A bit like theatre/Cinema mode, but I need the vibration to alert me... What I don't need is the thing lighting up every time I get a 'notice', draining the battery and telling everyone who can see! I get quite a few messages and find it strange this feature has not been considered/withdrawn by now. In fact the only useful time the watch should light up is an incoming call so I can see who and accept/reject.
- Whilst on the subject of rejecting a call, why doesn't it offer me the option of rejecting and sending a text message at the same time, a bit like you can when you reject a call on the handset.... Seems an obvious feature really.
- OK Google, doesn't launch applications I've downloaded, eg: I downloaded from the apps store a compass application. OK Google, compass - it gets me info on a company called compass!
- OK Google, Natigate to (insert a name of a contact)... Brings up a linkedin profile....
OK, rant over and I'm happy to concede that it may be my ignorance that I am frustrated so I'm happy to be correctly by fellow early adopters.... Or am I not alone
You've done the same mistake as all wear beginners when it comes to gestures. Forget that setting in watch menu and instead investigate wear companion app settings closer.

The wear companion app is the app on your phone which you connect to your phone via. Click cog wheel. Click watch name. Untick tilt to wake option.
When I tell my watch to navigate to somewhere, a beautiful Maps shows up and gets me there... I think you are too fast at judging A.Wear Take time to discover it!
Install Android wear mini launcher also.
Android Wear is built to be minimal - it compliments your phone, it's not supposed to replace it. It just decreases the amount of times you have to pull your phone out of your pocket.
The Apple Watch is the one that's supposed to "replace" your phone in more instances. It's more complicated.
Android Wear is for quick replies, information, and helpful tools.

Tilt to wake is important, and disabling it on the sw3 does not significantly improve battery life. There are problems with this software. I am on my third watch, and still after a lot of tweaking only get 24 hours (when I am lucky) per charge. This watch is supposed to last over two days. When I am not lucky, I get two hours on a charge.

Yeah. battery life was great on 5.0.2 We just have to wait until the next update, which both sony and google have said that they are working on.
Recharge once a day, and on unplugging, restart the watch. Many people have reported this gives the best results. FWIW I have all options turned on, and as long as I'm not hit with the bug, battery life is about what it was before 5.1.1.

Firstly, I have tried switching off motion gestures using the Phones Wear application, but there wasn't an independent setting. I therefore downloaded a third party 'advance setting' application. It offered me more choices but didn't make a blind bit of difference.
Secondly, gestures are a personal thing so I'm not speaking for everybody. As I've already said I don't want the watch switching on every time I turn my wrist (my lifestyle is to active and I find it switching on when I'm doing something rather than when I want to read the time or message) or when I get a message (as I said before I want to choose when I read my messages and I don't want anyone close by to A) see I've got a message and B) be able to read the subject and who it's from). In addition battery life is, for the foreseeable future, a finite resource and all this switching on will reduce the battery life of the watch so it really annoys me that a simple setting 'Gesture OFF' is being completely ignored. I would also vote for 'Cinema mode, including vibrate'..
Thirdly, Yesterday, not for the first time, my battery drained itself in about half a day so I had to recharge the watch by about 3pm. But this time it was a little different. First thing in the morning I noticed the watch struggling to connect to my wifi, it would connect and then connect and then connect. Before anyone jumps on me saying there a problem with my wifi, there are about 10 devices that connect to my wifi and none of them get a problem. In addition I have more than one access point by different manufacturers and the watch has access to two different access points. Security is by password AND MAC address. This got me thinking. Is the wifi chip going into overdrive when it's not connected to an access point and draining the battery? I can't say for sure, but I did notice that the other days the battery suddenly drains is when I'm out and about so it may have been attempting to attached to all the access points when I'm walking about... Only a theory, but what does everybody else think?

Yea. Drain is somewhere between decent and awful depending on setup. I get two days out of mine.
Gestures is not the same as "tilt to wake". Gestures are let you interact with Google cards by flipping your wrist. Tilt to wake is what you're after. It does just what it says and is turned off in the wear companion app on your phone. The app is called "android wear" and in the app you press a cog wheel symbol, then press the name of your watch. They're you'll find three check box settings.
Always-on screen (eats your battery like omnomnom)
Tilt to wake screen (the one you're after)
Show Google cards (shows notifications on watch)

Wow you're getting two days out of your battery, I can only dream...
Actually I'm not being truthful with the above. After my discovery with WiFi yesterday, I turned it off today. But for good measure, I switched screen on, to on.
It's been 18 hours off charge and the battery still has 56% left... OK it's not quite a day yet and as with all testing needs to be conducted over a few days but what a difference, even better considering your comment about the battery drain with the screen on!
Thank you for the tip re tilt to wake, I've now turned it off so in theory that should improve the battery life still further.
If today's results become consistent over the next few days it'll pretty conclusive that there's a problem with the WiFi.
I tried tilt to wake for a day. It went on all the time. Always on is so dim I can't see the watch anyway. I use tap to wake with highest brightness
I've just started to try gestures. I wanna see if it's a gimmick or actually useful.
WiFi to blame
OK, is been two nearly three days since I switched WiFi off.
In that time by the end of the day (with the watch face always on) I've been left with between 50% to 25% depending on actual use. Given that it sometimes would run out of battery by 3pm this is a great improvement and highlights that there are serious problems with the WiFi implementation.
I'm now happy I purchased
I like the tilt to wake but I notice it comes on a lot. Especially when I drive at night and my whole car lights up. I like the tilt features for scrolling through notifications. I wish there was one for dismissing, but that would probably lead to missed cards.
My LG G Watch is pretty much ready for a charge by the end of the day.
Sadly my hopes for a smart watch was to save battery life on my phone, but I am finding that bluetooth on all day tends to yield me the same battery life as if I just pull my phone out each time. Overall i love the watch for when I am in the pool and busy at work.

Tilt to wake is problematic and poorly thought through as there are way to many scenarios where it activates when not required.
I can see the logic behind moving through cards via tilt but for me I continue to switch this off as well as I find it's very easy using my other hand and there are not many time I can't do that unless driving, but then, I shouldn't be reading my messages when driving anyway... : -)
Also since turning WiFi off, after 18 hours off charge I normally have between 30-40 battery left so the battery life has stabilised.
Now looking forward to the next Sony smart watch that should be release in November.
Latest update of the port to Samsung gear 2 allows for screen always on for two workdays. I can go with that. On my wishlist now is dismiss card gesture.
I actually like the gestures. With them on, I easily go through a day. On the weekends I can see me turning it off just to conserve battery. But I use it to turn on the screen and flip through notifications all the time, and seems pretty consistant. It always does what I want when I want. The problem is it comes on when I dont want.
If the watch had an AMOLED, you could fix this by using the same black face for both ambient and active modes.
I really like the Gear S, but hopefully the 2nd gen Android watches include some of the same features. Honestly all I need from the LG G Watch is a speaker and I'd be set.

I can understand your disappointment, but I'm not disappointed as I consider it to be new technology and I was keen to get in early and I expected some issues.
For my part, I'm now very happy with my purchase and Amazon in the UK are now selling it at just under £100 so I also believe good value.
I am however, beginning to wonder if Wifi is the cause of the battery drain. Whilst I haven't had Wifi on since my first observation I'm thinking now it is probably a shirt sleeve activating the watch when I'm not aware and thats draining the battery very quickly. It's early days at the moment, but on two occasions I've been out and wearing a coat, on both occasions the battery was dead by the time I got home. Today I went out and wore a coat but switched cinema mode on... Battery perfect! Needs some more testing, but....

Battery, CPU and Message Issues, please help.

I've been having a number of problems over the past few weeks with my OnePlus One, not quite sure what to do so I thought I would ask here for any advice.
Overall my major problems:
High CPU usage (and therefore high phone/CPU temp to the point of needing to turn off because of overheating)
High battery drain (and the battery will not last 5 hours even on sleep)
messages take between 1 ~2 minutes of hanging to send.
Phone randomly waking in sleep (contributing to the battery problem?)
I've looked into it a bit, I've disabled the Google Play Services from waking in sleep, cut down and uninstalled most apps. I've let it drain completely and left it off for 1 hour before charging to full and turning it on. I've tried to do everything people have suggested and nothing so far has worked.
My Phone Build:
Completely Stock CM12.1-YOG4PAS1N0 [Installed through OTA]
Kernel version 3.4.67 - untouched
Never rooted (I've been lazy), no custom rom, nothing touched in bootloader
Always kept safe, no damage, no water damage
I am thinking of doing a factory reset to see if that solves the issue, right now just looking on a way to backup all of my sms/app data (since I can't even titanium because it's not rooted) [All suggestions welcome if you have any good backup software/app that I can use on unrooted phone]. I do suspect a possible virus, hence the want to factory reset, especially about the messages taking so long.
Any help is appreciated, thank you in advance.

I'm so tired of talking about this topic that I can barely work up the determination to write this response. I'll give it a go though and I'll try to keep it short, simple and leave as much emotion of as possible.
So I've had my phone 10 months now. It seemed great at first but it wasn't long before I started seeing cracks (not literally). It began with the battery, or lack thereof. These days it's much worse but even back then it was noticeable worse than any other phone I had owned in the past. I first reported this issue... 6 months ago.
I'll leave that to sink in a little, before telling you that even now my issues are still not solved and I am having to take OnePlus to Trading Standards and receive third party consultation and legal advice.
So six months I have complained and begged them to solve my problem. And in that time my phone has gotten significantly worse.
It exhibits the EXACT same problems as yours. Down to the last note.
The battery... *sigh* Oh the battery. It now lasts around 1 hour of heavy use, 2-3 of moderate use and a bit more otherwise. Even if I leave it completely alone I have to charge two to three times in a 24 hour period.
The CPU seems to be randomly throttling. Performance from app to app will be vastly different.
The heat that comes off this thing is obscene. At times I literally cannot touch the face of the phone or the camera lens they are so hot. (I remember recording some temps once at 47 degrees centigrade).
My messages generally either send or don't. Or maybe I don't wait long enough. I just usually copy the text and resend anyway.
I have issues with my touch screen responding. Funny I never had these or never noticed them when everyone was shouting about it. Now they've released a fix I have them.
Some Wifi networks do not work, they get stuck forever "Connecting".
The phone no longer rings, vibrates or gives any indication of incoming calls. Sometimes it'll pop-up on screen, sometimes there will be literally no indication even on screen except that my phone wakes itself up to the homescreen and then minutes later tells me I have a voicemail (which also has no notification sound/vibration)
As it is I have finally, just this last month been offered an RMA... YES that's right, it's taken them six months to own up to an issue and offer me that which is stated in my warranty and within my rights.
Unfortunately, for them, it is no longer good enough. I have applied to my bank to forcefully remove the money from them and return it to me. That is being decided with the evidence I have, by my bank at the moment.
After that, the ball is in their court and I am free of them as far as I am concerned.
I wasted so much time and breath on emailing and tweeting them and getting no responses, stock responses, blanket responses, repeated verification processes, remote flashing of Oxygen OS to my phone by an engineer (which has brought up more problems, mainly being that Lollipop and Oxygen OS especially are godawful) and general deflection and delay tactics.
They are one the most disgusting companies I have ever had the displeasure of trusting, purchasing from and dealing with.
I hope one day, they go bust and I never have to hear of them again.
Sincere apologies for my vitriol but it is not unwarranted or untrue and I cannot abide. I am extremely sorry you are dealing with the same issues, you are the first I have heard to have the exact same concoction as me. I'm afraid we may have defective (and dangerously so maybe) devices from the factory line, but no one will own up to it.

Samsung Gear S2: Nike+ or S Health for running?

Hi, I just got this watch this weekend and haven't really got a chance to experiment with these apps yet. During the little bit of time I did, I experienced the Nike+ app would lag/skip while music was playing every time I would try to look at the screen. On the other side, the S Health caused my watch to reboot twice for whatever reason.
I was wondering, what are the differences between these apps? If you use one versus the other does the information still get transferred/communicated to the S Health information or the Nike+ results such as the distance and average pace? One other question, is there a way to make the display last longer? It seems as soon as I would try to see my current run's information, the movement of my arm would cause the display to shut off before I could switch between screens, which is pretty frustrating.

I didn't experience the issues you mentioned on the apps - maybe a reboot would help?
I did suffer from poor GPS reception on both apps, though S health seemed a little better on that front (just from a couple of runs). I'm on the TMobile 3g model.
You can connect the Nike and S health apps. When you do so, S health gets a new tile reporting some stats from the Nike app. Clicking on that tile will simply open the Nike app for the full details.
I'm not aware of a way to set a longer time out for the screen. I beleive this was added to a firmware update that so far is only available in Korea, hopefully we'll also get it at some point here in the US. Not sure if changing the screen to always-on might help with the hand movement issue - I'm using the wake up gesture too, so have no experience with that, unfortunately.

Other think that really bothered me yesterday on my first run with the watch (3g, Tmo), was that I was listening music from the watch through some BT headphones, and when I pressed the home button to go to the music app to skip tracks, when I went back to the Nike+, it started again. Did not kept in the background!!!

Just to clarify, the data sharing is one way - you can see some data from Nike on S-health, but I don't think it works the other way round
Also, how can the data on my watch sync with my Shealth on the phone, is it possible?

Yes, the phone app gets stats from the watch - for example step count or heart rate measures are shown on the phone app. Unfortunately I don't remember if I had to do something to make it work or if it syncs automatically, but it's definitely working
Good to know. Looks like I'll be using Nike+ to start out with. To answer bebeloneovvl, I didn't do anything in the settings and my phone synced with my watch to the step. It didn't at first but over night it did and ever since then, once it's in bt range it syncs.
I also noticed that if you're running on the treadmill, if the location/GPS is on it isn't accurate at all, but if that's turned off it's pretty close to what's on the treadmill. Seemed to for me anyways. I didn't even attempt to start either app, the S Health just automatically recognized I was running. I'll have to try the Nike+ app tomorrow.
Thanks for the answer. I did a restart and it seems to work well now. Today on my second day of running, using the watch alone, the distance was wayyyy off. My 4 mile route, that I've been running forever, on the watch measured 3.50 miles. Found that pretty odd, maybe GPS signal drops along the route?

Thanks for the answer. I did a restart and it seems to work well now. Today on my second day of running, using the watch alone, the distance was wayyyy off. My 4 mile route, that I've been running forever, on the watch measured 3.50 miles. Found that pretty odd, maybe GPS signal drops along the route?

I haven't had the chance to run outside yet with mine, so I can't give you any advice on that, that does suck though... Which app did you use?
I found this thread while Googling inaccurate readings with the Nike app on Samsung Gear S2.
I've run outdoors with it 3 times so far and each time has been way off. Not only is the mileage off, but I noticed while looking at my mapped out run online afterwards that my path jumps all over the place. I ran on a track and it showed me running through the infield many times. Also, I was jogging on a 9 minute/mile pace, but the mileage breakdown showed I was running 4 to 5 minute miles then a huge lump sum of the leftover minutes went to the end of the run.
I've rebooted the watch before runs 2 and 3. I also switched GPS mode to GPS only and not 'GPS and Network'. On the 3rd run, I removed the link between Nike and S Health then ran without heartrate, music, or cheers. Still had inaccuracies.
I was in the market for a Nike watch, but when I saw the Gear S2's with built in Nike App I couldn't pass it up. I love everything else about the watch. I hope they can get these issues resolved. Mine is on the T-Mobile network.

I was really hoping for better results than that... I agree, I love the watch and all the capabilities it has but that's a pretty big factor for me. I really want to keep this, but if this is consistent then it may just be going back to AT&T. We'll see how accurate mine is this weekend. I'm sorry to hear that though.

With the watch being new, I'll give them a chance to fix it. Perhaps a Nike competitor will swoop in and create a better app. In general, there's not many apps available for the watch. I'm looking forward to what the developers can come up with.
running with g2 is inacurrate
I get some issues also. my 6 km run is only 5,5 km with the g2, because at some point, i was looking at the watch and it doens not counted that half km. I will try next time to run with the watch disconected for the phone, because I suspect that it takes the possition from the phone gps, and at some point, the watch disconects from the phone, and maybe that's why it drops the signal

I did some more experimenting today. I ran at a local high school 400m track (4 laps = mile).
Here's what I tried this time:
- Turned Bluetooth, WIFI, and NFC off
- Switched Location to GPS only
- I was using T-Mobile 4G network, clear blue Texas skies
- I unlinked the S Health and Nike App to try to prevent any clashing
- Closed all apps that were running
I launched the Nike app, didn't use music, heartrate, or cheers.
I jogged 8 full laps in lane 6 which should of been just over 2.1 miles but it logged me for 1.92.
My map was all over the place. I wanted to post screenshots but I'm a newb and can't until I have 10 posts here.
I don't expect it to be a perfect oval, but my cheap ZTE phone that I usually run with maps it much cleaner and a lot more accurate.
I ended that run, saved it, then ran another 8 laps in lane 2 with heartrate on this time. It says I jogged 1.8 miles instead of just over 2.
I noticed that there is no way to check the GPS signal before running. On both runs, it didn't show the map until halfway through the first lap. I wonder if that's when it started tracking my run
The phone app and Nike watches sync up and make sure you have a good GPS signal before you can run.
Another issue, although minor, I didn't see where to enter the track/road/trail or the shoes option.

I swear I wasn't drunk during the 2 runs. I ran in the same lane on an oval track and the GPS was all over the place.
Also, I started and ended in the same spot but it's not reflected on the map. It shows I stop early.
I bought the AT&T version yesterday, mainly as a running device, but also for the smart watch perks. I ran three miles this morning and my experience was terrible.
I left my phone at home, turned off all connections on the watch except for GPS. I brought along my Garmin Forerunner that I've had for almost six years that has been reliably accurate.
It took a good 3-5 minutes for the GPS to initially lock on (I assume the location icon turning solid means it's locked on). I started down my street, which is residential houses with little tree coverage. By the time my Garmin said .40 miles, my S2 said .20 miles. So I decided to try in cycling mode, which I've seen recommended somewhere (running supposedly uses the pedometer instead of GPS for distance).
After switching to the cycling mode, distance seemed to be much more accurate but pace was being difficult. When I swiped to go to the pace screen, the GPS symbol was usually blinking and pace was blank. After a couple seconds, pace would kick in and start trying to match my current pace. Again, the Garmin does this much quicker with varying speeds.
I switched to the Nike Run app and that's just a terrible interface, even worse than the Shealth.
Not only is the GPS tracking pretty bad, but my general experience with the interface was terrible. I have the always on screen mode set to on. The screen of course goes back to ambient mode when the watch is in a certain position. Most of the time when trying to read my stats, the screen wouldn't go to the on the mode, so I would have to touch the screen or spin the dial to get it to turn on (I was also pushing my son in a stroller today, which made it more difficult). On top of that, I have to then scroll to whatever data screen I want to look at. All that screen space and they can only put one stat on each screen.
The Nike app was even worse because I can't even manually change what data I'm looking at. I have to wait for it to scroll through, which IMO, is pretty dangerous is you're running by traffic.
Overall, the experience was just terrible. It's going back to AT&T. I really wanted to like this device, but can't. It was actually great as a smart watch and I really like the look. Unfortunately, the running experience is a complete deal breaker.
Welp, I contacted Nike support Friday and thought I was on the right track, told them everything that was going on and they said their engineer was going to look into it. Yesterday they wrote me and said it's a Samsung problem. I contacted Samsungs support and they are telling me that it's Nike's problem. Samsung also said it's a 3rd party app, which it is, but there is not a way to uninstall it. It came loaded with the watch. I've tried to reinstall the Nike app before to try to fix the problem but it doesn't show up on the uninstall list.
I just love it when they pass the blame back to each other while I'm sitting here with my $350 GPS watch that doesn't work correctly.
I used the built-in S Health app and the map of my run was messed up too, so that rules out Nike's app as being the culprit.
I am sending the watch back to Samsung so they can run diagnostics on it. I'll have it back in a couple of weeks then I'll give it another shot.
GPS inaccuracy?
I just got my new Gear S2 from T-Mobile (3G version) today and did a 5KM running and some walking. I also carried my Galaxy S4 with runkeeper on it. Nike+ app on Gear S2 showed me at 4.9KM. Also as I was running I looked at the watch to see my current distance, but it wasn't updating the current distance instantly. I am very upset for this. Basically I needed a solid GPS watch with phone capability. Do you know if the GPS chip is not good enough or is it a software issue?
