Hi. I want to buy the new Nexus 5 from Google/LG and i want to ask about the Android 4.4.2 update.
I have read that there were issues (again similar to the Nexus 4) that there were occasional wifi signal dropouts, weak speakers, screen quality and the camera.
Has these problems been resolved with the update?
Please advice. Thanks.
The sound of the speaker is average! It's a hardware thing, no software update can change it.. If you want some boost, you will need to root it and install a sound mod like Viper4android...
No wifi signal dropouts here. Whaatttttt??? The screen on this beast is a real BEAUT!
The camera is pretty good and can manage decent shots.

Never had wifi problem, speaker is easily fixed and they addressed it in 4.4.2, my screen is perfect, and my camera is perfect.

As i have mentioned in my other thread i'm not into modding or rooting as for me its too technical and i would rather air my complaints (and suggestions) to Google et al and wait for the official updates be it minor or major.
This is my 2nd-ever Nexus phone. The other one being the Nexus 4 and i didn't like it as there were just too many issues and problems hardware-wide and also software.
I would like to give this phone a chance and i hope the unit i got from Carphone Warehouse is free from hardware "abnormalities" and problems as they don't offer refunds anymore and only just exchange.
I heard after the 4.4.2 update there were still issues with the camera like it tends to over compensate or over saturate in some instances. The contrast algorithim (or whatever they call it) was tweaked but somewhat of a hit n' miss depending on the time of the day. True?
Also, how's is the shutter lag? (i.e. in-between shots) Is it a lot faster now than the N4? My old Galaxy S3 and my current iPhone 5C has an almost zero shutter lag which will benefit me.

Rooting and stuff is not technical at all, it requires little to no knowledge. Just read the guide threads..
My belief is that if i mod or root a device the warranty will be void and that i cannot "un-root" it again. My other worry is the rooting procedure might introduce bugs or even viruses. That's my belief. Again, i could be wrong.
I still would go to the normal route i.e. waiting for official updates based on end-user comments/complaints/issues/suggestions which i do every now and again till Google and those other OEM's realise things.

As for viruses and bugs, it's not the root that can cause that but more what you will do after rooting your device... There is no bug, at least no more than a non rooted device, with only rooting your device. It's only if you modify some files system, flash something not stable, or the wrong file and so on. If you install a "crappy" or cracked app with root access (and allow it without know what it does), yes maybe you can encounter some bugs or viruses. It's on the user side...
I have not rooted my phone and it's perfect, i have no complaints whatsoever. I keep refraining myself from rooting tho because of gravitybox, my geeky side keeps telling me to root but i don't right now because i don't need it, but i will definitely do it after a year or something (knowing myself).

When using Fastboot and ADB its commands so there is no chance of bugs or viruses.modding is what XDA is all about.

I could maybe try rooting my device one day. But until then i'm happy with normal updates.
I have been reading about the "fiasco" of 4.4.1 and i just think that Google sometimes don't listen to end-user complaints too quickly and they would rather sit back and wait till the complaints are a mountain high (with the same issues attached to it) until they act.
I used my N5 for a week, stock and unrooted. I had absolutely no problems with it. I got used to the screen after a day and never really complained about it. I even think it's the best screen so far, especially outdoors. Zero wifi signal drops. My phone speakers wake me up using the alarm clock. Camera can produce excellent photos; take a look inside the picture thread. It's really just the feature-itch that kept me flashing custom roms.

I have been hearing somewhat conflicting comments that the 4.4.2 camera still has more space for improvements. It can sometimes bring oversaturatedness, greyness, haziness and still weak in the low-light department.
Another issue i heard is the battery seems still not convincingly and dramatically improved from the last time. 3G & 4G signal seems also not perfect. What i mean is if the phone comes from a 3G to a 4G area the phone either reboots itself, turns itself off or would take time to "reconfigure" its software to know that its in a strong 4G signal. Am i making sense?
Is there any truth to this?

Still somewhat not convinced. There are still some known issues with 4.4.2 i heard. I'm not too worried about the camera as i believe it is much improved but my other main concern is the battery life.
Some are saying that the "Android system" (or the OS) is the culprit. I'm not an engineer but is it because of maybe the way the OS works or something. I also heard that there are random wifi crashes, phone just turns off by itself and when the phone is actually asleep it drains a lot and then the battery heats up, etc.
I'm sorry to be bringing this issues up buy you hear and read this online and it seems credible. If more than 1 person have been complaining the same thing surely there is truth to the issue.

In my opinion stop the "I heard someone" or "some are saying" and jump the train...
4.4.2 is way better than 4.4/4.4.1 (and yes I ran stock rom in the past ).
About Android usage in battery stats is already discussed here, I mean in this Q&A forum, I have not it, like almost 90% (or more) users, it's on the user side (whatever some other users tends to think). It can happen on 4.4/4.4.1 too... but since a minority of users are still on this version and the updates have been quick, nobody still speak about it.
Wi-Fi crashes, phone turn OFF by itself (on full stock?) it's also a very large minority on stock (I would say never), it could be due to the user too, no?
High battery drain in idle-> mostly user side (rogue app for example). Ans so on...
Don't mixe what your read about some problems between stock rom and custom rom/kernel/mods...., in my opinion (and I'm not alone) all you read is nothing, biased feedback due to some users who don't know how use their phones, install xx and xy apps and after that they are complaining about battery life, bugs and so on
Battery heat (or CPU?), what is heat for you or for the guy who said that? I any case there is thermal throttle to prevent any dammage and you are running a quadcore CPU (with a max CPU freq at 2,26 GHz ) enclosed without thermal cooling so in certain circumstances expect some heat...
If you are not still convinced, hum... don't do anything
Test and see by yourself, sometimes it will be better than read something here and there... . I'm not saying that you are "reported" is false but nonestly it's mostly ******, at least like I said it's not about 4.4.2 itself but user side.
That being said you seem a user easily influenced by some things read or heard here and there, maybe you'll be more influenced by the replies in your thread

I have not experienced any of these issues when I was on stock for a week. I suggest you go buy the nexus 5 and return it if you don't like it then try the G2 if you really want amazing battery life. But I assure you, once you experience Nexus, you'll go back to Nexus.
Well, for one thing i had a Nexus 4 and i had to return/sell it because of so many issues. And those same issues have again cropped-up in the stock Nexus 5 4.4/4.4.1/4.4.2. Sounds familiar?
Yes it's true it "could be" a minority who have the same issues but its STILL a minority and its STILL the same issues. It's either the users fault or the phone itself. Yes it could be malicious/battery-draining apps or a ROM that has some bugs, etc. But in the past 6 months i have not heard of a "minority" of HTC One or Galaxy S3/S4 users that have the same issues. Have you? It does tell you something about how the phone was made and how Google pushes its updates.
I know and i'm well aware that the only thing to do is to actually try one. But what if if i try one, got the same problems, do a factory reset, still same problems, have to return/sell the thing and so on. Its such a hassle. That is why i am looking for answers and reviews/comments here. And i truly appreciate all your insights. I really do.
Call me fuzzy or overly-careful. I'm not looking for a "perfect" Google Nexus phone. I just want a phone (and Android phone as such) that works.
Again, as i said i'm not overly worried about the camera because a phone camera can & will never replace a proper one.My other concern is the 4.4.2 battery life. My Nexus 4's battery life was near atrocious. Could not tell you how long (or short) it's battery life is thats is why i got rid of it. But if a number of issues come up with the same battery life issue and battery getting warmer then am i to worry?
My typical day is get up at 6AM, remove the charger on my phone (if it was charged overnight), turn it off or turn the wifi off whilst i have my shower, get on the bus and the train, turn on my mobile data then checking the morning news/weather/notes/Twitter, get on to my work and keep my mobile data (and everything else like wifi, bluetooth, NFC...you know) turned off, turn on my data again for my 30-minute lunch and turn it off when back to my afternoon shift, going back home i listen to some music (a typical journey lasts around 45 minutes) whilst at the same time checking out some tech news on Appy Geek, when i'm at home i turn off my mobile data and connect to my home wifi (kept On till until i wake up again the next morning) whilst in-between supper & shower & bed i check Twiiter again, Instagram, couple of Youtube videos, email, playing a game which would last maybe 30-60 minutes max and that's it. I sleep around 11PM and wake up again around 6AM.
My questions are:
1. Anything to worry about the battery life?
2. Is it wise to install a "battery saving" app on the Play store?
3. Will heat be a factor on my "typical" day on draining my battery life?
4. Is it true the battery life improves after a couple of charges?
The area where i live, where i travel and my work place hasn't got a strong 4G signal. I have no problems with my home broadband/wifi as i typically have a very fast and stable connection. So...
5. Will the phone picking up 3G & 4G signal (switching back & forth and re-initializing again and again) be a factor in a battery drain?
6. What tips can you advice me on how to save battery life on my Nexus 5?

Based on how you use your phone, not really. Unless there's a hardware defect.

For me, no. I once tried one and it didn't help at all. But there's no harm in trying.

A few weeks ago I did some heavy gaming for an hour and the phone was really warm, but I still got >5hrs SoT at the end of the day before charging again.
4. Is it true the battery life improves after a couple of charges?
Yes the battery life is somewhat improved; but what I experienced was that it improves when I stay in the same ROM for some days, and I charge it overnight when the battery is less than 5%.
5. Will the phone picking up 3G & 4G signal (switching back & forth and re-initializing again and again) be a factor in a battery drain?
In my opinion (and experience), yes.

Well, I've been using my Oneplus since a pretty long time, and I decided to list all the issues I have since I got it. It's pretty long so stay sitted.
- Ghost touches on touchscreen.
- Touch screen becoming suddently unresponsive.
- Never could manually select my carrier.
- Never could connect to carrier network.
- Never could download MMS.
- Never could connect to LTE/4G, even though the APN was correctly set up.
- Camera freezes randomly.
- Phone keeps waking up for no reason (the touch to wake keeps getting triggered, certainly a ghost touch issue).
- Photos are pretty bad, stabilisation sucks.
- Call app keeps randomly crashing, only solution to use it again is to reboot the phone.
- Messages app keeps randomly crashing, only solution to use it again is to reboot the phone.
- Random system crashes (something similar to a segfault somewhere in the UI management code).
- High battery drain (I mean, REALLY high, like, "a full battery in half a day" high !).
- SMS sending/receiving fails very often.
- GPS fixe is unreliable, it keeps draging my position over the whole town and never settles.
- Compass is unreliable, according to it, I keep spinning around, even after a recalibration.
I guess that's about it, I am missing some, but that's already pretty long.
I tried everything and made a clean install after each update to be sure, and the problems kept on adding onto each others.
The only thing that could explain that could be very poor build quality and Cyanogen mod's team incompetence (yeah, these guys really can't code properly, putting their ROM on the phone was a big mistake from OnePlus).
I would like to precise that I treated the phone very well, it never fell down, it doesn't even have a little scratch. It really feels like using one of those counterfeit phones, even though I got it from the official online store.
How many of these issues did you have ? And if you did, how did you fixe it (if you could ever fixe them) ?
There's something pretty wrong with your phone, it shouldn't act like that. You need to provide some more information.
What build are you on?
Is your bootloader unlocked?
Do you have a custom recovery?
Have you modified it in any way?
What was the last update you took and how did you apply it?
I have similar things happening to mine.
I've treated it well with no major damage to the phone.
After having it from a year and a month I've noticed that it's started. I've updated normally through OTA to CM12.1-YOG4PAS1N0.
Never rooted ( really considering it now, was very lazy haha ), never customised just kept all stock.
The problems I am having that really are concerning me :
- Very high battery drain (doesn't last 4-5 hours at most).
- Very high CPU usage (and hence the phone getting quite hot) thought it was the google play services bug, didn't change when I applied the changes.
- SMS taking a while to send (between 1.5~2 minutes for a message to send).
I'm thinking of factory restoring my phone, just want to find something decent to back my important data up (e.g. sms, some app data) [anyone welcome to suggest anything, I'm still looking].
If I factory reset I will post any results of what happens.
As I've stated in another forum thread started by the above user, I have had a lot of the aformentioned problems and worse.
We've both described our issues in that thread and as I've stated I'm growing so weary. I had my PC fail on me last year and spent all year chasing warranties and RMA's and having to coax companies, who are legally bound to do what I am having to beg and threaten before they do it. Then this year I get a defective OnePlus One and One Plus themselves ignore, deflect, delay and misdirect me. I've had the phone 10 months now and I've been complaining and fighting for 6 months with the above problems and I was only just offered an RMA (or RRR as they call it) this month. That's 6 months of begging, pleading and then demanding. Safe to say I have sought third party legal advice and will be taking this as far as it can go.
I would make contact with them as soon as you can regarding these issues or they will only use that against you.
All right. Let me start by saying I've had this phone since it first came out and until very recently it's been a great device for me. Yes I have the T-Mobile US version with a locked bootloader, which sucks as far as ROMS etc. go. Yes its GPS can be less than reliable occasionally thanks to issues with Lollipop, which we're stuck with. But everything else it did just great. The battery life was one of my favorite things about it- if I started a day with 60% it would be just fine.
Until about a month ago. About a month ago, the phone developed this <sarcasm>neat trick</sarcasm> where it would get really hot and burn through about ten percent of its battery or more in ten minutes or less.
My initial thought is that I'd have to wipe the phone and start from scratch (followed closely by rooting and loading up an Android Nougat ROM, but we all know how that's worked out for the D6616 ). But I'd really like to avoid wiping if at all possible.
Here are my working theories, let me know what you think I should do to further diagnose:
Some New App is Responsible- The obvious candidate. I installed GSam Battery Monitor to look into this, hoping to find an obvious culprit to delete. Sadly the only apps using more than 2% are whatever app I've been actively using with the screen on, Android System, Kernel (Android OS), and Google Services. I uninstalled a bunch of unneccesary apps anyway, but it didn't improve things very much.
The New York Subway System - Stay with me here, it's not entirely a joke. I live in New York City and recently all of the stations had cell service and wifi activated on underground platforms, but not between stations. So when I ride the train (a significant chunk of my day as I freelance work in clients' homes) I'm going in and out of service constantly. And things do tend to improve when I turn on airplane mode when I get on a train. But not a lot. And the overheating and battery sucking behavior does happen sometimes when I'm aboveground.
The Battery Itself- This is the one I'm most worried about because the fix just sucks. The phone is now over three years old, and I do use it pretty much every day, only turning it off at night or when I'm traveling abroad. That's a long time for a lithium battery. My understanding is that near the end of their lives, they do overheat and lose charge quickly after a while. Since this is a waterproof phone and I'm in the US, I'd have to ship it to Sony for 2-3 weeks a repair if I want to keep it's waterproofing abilites (I do). I'm betting that's not cheap. My real hesistation with this one though, is that my phone is about as old as most other people's on here, so if this were the case, I'd expect a ton of users here or on T-Mobile's forum to be complaining about the same problems. I haven't looked closely but I haven't seen many people with this problem.
So that's where I am. Any ideas? Things I should try out to get more info? I'd really like to solve this, and I'd bet figuring out on here would help others in a similar position. Thanks!
Managed to get some relief by wiping the phone. Didn't restore it to the good old days of 60%-in-the-morning-no-problem-all-day, but was decent. But now it's come up again. I can and will wipe the phone again if I have to but if there's a more elegant solution someone has found over the past 10 months or so, I'd love to hear about it.
Thought I'd solved it when the sd card died and I wiped/replaced that. But then it started having the same problems a few weeks later on a new card. I wiped the phone and the SD next and I'm still having issues. Heck, I've even had it heat up while in TWRP recovery mode, so I'm pretty sure we're looking at a hardware issue.
My first instinct would be the battery but according to the internal temp sensors, the battery isn't that hot (39 or so C). The CPU on the other hand is getting very, very hot (spikes to 72 degrees C). This tallies with what I feel on the phone looking at diagrams of the innards: the hot part is about a third of the way down from the top of the phone, where the CPU is.
Any idea what bit would have to be replaced to fix this?
OK it all started when the temperature where i lived dropped below 10 degrees Celsius and my Huawei P9 could not hold a charge for more than 30 min. when being outdoor.
I contacted Huawei about this issue and was told that was normal and a safety feature in my phone and i should use it out doors and keep it in a case and in my pocket.
Well thinking ok then this kinda beats the point of having the phone if i cannot use it out doors for 6-7 months a year and also no rely on have a phone to use for calls say should my son or some one else get in an incident where you would need to call for help or you wanted to call a taxi or just take a picture ..... i heard that some phone can do this now adays
So finally i convinced Huawei that the phone should be looked at by a repair shop that they used and i send it in and got the reply nothing wrong with the phone ... but it would still just die after being in my pocket and taking a 30 min walk.
So back to the repair shop it went, this time it came back with a message saying that they changed the main board of the phone ... Nope did not work and still the phone would just die after approx 30 min while in my pocket after a walk out side.
3rd. time back to the repair shop and the reply was, Nope nothing wrong with the phone and you just have a phone that you cannot use out doors in temperature below 0 degrees celsius
Well this kinda blows... so i have had the phone for about a year and i cannot use it out door on most of the year and ... BEEP*** so i wrote Huawei again and again to get them to find a solution for my problem
either they got tiered of my complaints or something else but all out of the blue Huawei wrote to me on facebook saying that well they are now aware of a battery issue on the Huawei P9 phone ... i cannot get the official information from them confirming this but will share the message i got from them on facebook "image attached to this post."

So in general i am not done with this case .... but i felt like this was information that might help anyone else in here that have the same issue with their Huawei P9 phone and dont know what to do about it, and could use this information that i have from Huawei via their facebook support.
Again my little "adventure with a phone i cannot use out doors" and Huawei support.
Small update:
Huawei here in Denmark cannot say witch models of the P9 that have this issue but they confirmed to me over the phone, that within the last 24 hours they did receive information in their support department here that there is an issue with some of the Huawei P9 batteries and where this will result in that some phones will shutdown when getting cold and this is also when in temperatures above 0 degrees celsius after short time of use, no matter the level of charge there is on the battery beforehand
so now for the 4th. time, my P9 is in for repairs .. Hope they get it right this time.

I, on the other hand have no such issues. Temperatures here have been oscillating around 0 Celsius for about 2 months. I spend lots of time outdoors and the battery drain is just the same as it is indoors.
I had a similar problem. I was outdoors taking pictures of the first snow and keeping the phone all time out or in the outer pocket . It was about -3 Celsius and after two hours phone shut down displaying that battery was empty. When I went back indors, to warm, I switched the phone and the battery was still 65% full.
Later, I spent a weekend skiing, but keeping the phone under the jacket (pulling it out when needed), and didn't have problems with battery.
Same here. Went skiing and P9 will shut down due too cold, especially when the battery was lower than 50-60%.
To be honest I thought it was normal as the iPhone of a friend of mine behaved the same: it turned itself off due to the temperature (-10°C).
I managed to continue keep it alive by putting it under the jacket and not keeping it out too much while taking pictures.
I would not complain for -10 C, I think no phone will work. But my experience was on -3 C, I was with my wife and her older phone (with older battery) Galaxy worked just fine, even less charged than mine P9, under the similar conditions (holding in hand, taking pictures)
Its really common, mostly in iPhones and LG, but every device can behave like that in -10C conditions. Especially phones with metal backs that are not protected by user from such harsh environment(because if you live in such cold place cheap rubber case is useless).
I would not call it a major problem, especially when manual it self clearly say that minimum temperature that you can use phone is 0*C
But dont look at number it self, thermometer can show 0, but because of humidity of air, any electronic even at 0*C can behave like it is less than that.
And because metal body and getting phone out from pocket to cold air few times its a matter of minutes when the moisture will gather inside and phone will shutdown preventing from damaging it permanently.
I know that there are other things that could be stated as "major problems"
But i will however still say its somewhat of a problem as a phone that is less that a year old cant hold a charge for approx 30min even when at 100% charge when going out the door and this is even when its in a cover and is either in ones hand or jacket pocket and this is even in temperature that is between 0 degrees celsius and +8 degrees celsius.
But still i have taken me around 2-3 months to get Huawei to finally say ok there is an issue with the batteries in some of the P9 models and if you have this issue with the phone shutting down you should get the battery changed
I have also several times requested Huawei to share the information they have on the batteries, but i guess you all knows who hard it is to get a manufacture to release that kind of information to the public, so no luck there.

We do have, sort of the same Problem... Unfortunately it is getting worse rapidly ...
My wife has is p9 and was happy so far... just about 2 or 3 months ago, the battery was getting worse. It hasnt shown the effects it does now, but was getting drained very fast (she had to charge nearly twice a day, which, i know, depends on your own usage, i know... but..., twice a day...) Then, just about a week ago, she dropped it that hard, the display was smashed... So we had to change display, what happened last tuesday. Since then however, the phone is reacting very strangely! We now have exactly the same effect as described by you! 70% full battery, went outside at about 3°C and the battery was at 1% and the phone shuts itself down... Somehow i am relieved that it seems to be the battery... why?! Because, very carelessly we handed out the screen-lock to the guy who changed the display... i really wasnt thinking, because my wife and baby have been waiting in the car, in the cold (because the littleone was sleeping). just when i came back to the car, i thought "what the *** have i done" :-O ... and praying, he would do nothing bad... then, when we got the phone back, it was reacting strangely so my first thougth was ?! Spyware ... We are not sure, maybe it is "poisoned", but the battery thing seems to be a legit reason for the phone racting this way... So, we might try to change the batt... (and are still praying, for no spyware ... by the way, does anybody know how we can check this?! I tried (from ggl play):

So had a talk with the repair shop that Huawei said i had to use due to warranty and so on, also the place the phone is now and they will change the battery as a warranty case.
The other main issue in all of this is that this is the now the 4th time that the phone is in for repairs with this issue and the repair shop have also previously changed the main board of the phone, so by no i really have no faith in the phone even if huawei now claims that this will fix the issue.
So after pleading my case to the repair shop and had them contact huawei and convince them to call me so we can sort this out, they will not see if they can do something else for me than just trying to fix my phone for the 4th. time with in a year.
So nothing is set in stone right now but looks to that huawei is swapping out my phone to a new P9 or something newer.
But this was all just because my tele service provider that sold me the phone had failed several times when trying to get them to fix it and then have a ton of issues getting huawei to take my problem seriously over for the last 2-3 months.
But when i talked to the person from huawei he did tell me that the battery issue for the P9 is something that they only found out was an issue with in the last week of Jan. 2018.
so if you have a P9 that have issues with holding a charge in semi cold weather / environment i recommend you contact huawei about the issue and have them swap the battery, but this all depends on the warranty rules in your country, here in Denmark these rules / laws are really good and does provide a descent level of aid to customers that have a defective product.
I used the support chat they had on their facebook page, the support there is not great but you do in some way get semi direct contact to huawei.
Just yesterday i contacted Huawei. After asking for IMEI and Build-Nr they told me that more or less, this is a Battery issue due to high power consumption because of the temperatur and advice me to
only use the Phone in enough warm environment

Well my exact reaction when i first talked to Huawei about all this ... !! stupic to have a phone you only can use when your indoor or in a warm climate.
But Huawei here said that mine phone where one of those that needed a battery change... well they did this, but would guess that the repair shop did something wrong because when i got it back it did random reboots all the time..
4 times while trying to set it up again after the battery change.
Sooo a rep. from Huawei's service deparment called me last week and asked if i would send it back in and have it swapped out for a new Huawei P10, well OK with me, BUT IT BETTER NOT be the rose gold version they are gonna send back to me.
Hope you get through to huawei and get them to fix your phone!!
OK so the Huawei P9 battery issue came to a close for me.
Huawei gave me a new Huawei P10 as a replacement for the broken P9 i had
But still from my point of view some P9s for sure have a battery issue that Huawei should do something about and i would recommend all that have this kind of battery issues to contact Huawei and try to convince them to change the battery in their phone.

I sent in my phone for repair because it was losing 1% battery every 1 min (and that with a lot of battery saving tweaks already) on a day we had -5°C.
And it automatically shutdown in between, rebooting showed 1%, so I went to a repair shop by the provider and suddenly charging it turned on with 56% battery ... and then me and the repair inspector (they inspect the phone, if it is a very quick fix they do it, but otherwise they send it in) we saw mentioned 1% per 1 min together and so we sent it in.
I originally went into the store because suddenly the SD Card & Sim were failing. Guess what, charging the phone in the warm store/repair shop and it worked again FLAWLESSLY.
Any advice what I should write Huawei when I get back the phone and it still happens? I mean it has still warranty, so that must fall under it.
Mine does this as well, shuts down on heavy use on sub zero temperatures , but it's normal that after 2 years the battery would be on the end of it's life cycle ...
I kinda see improvements on battery with MR4 to be honest. Not while it's cold tho. We had some - 20oC here till last week so phone was shutting instantly when it was not in my pocket. Definitely I can tell you that battery lasts more but I use Facebook Lite, messenger Lite and everything else is deactivated from running in the background. I get like 35 hours standby otherwise with heavy usage 6-7 hours. If you wanna try Magisck rainbow 4 please do a clean install after at least c432b395 version

Same problem here with my gf's P9. Just started to occur this January. Good to know it's somewhat acknowledged by Huawei. I just hope I can find the receipt (she got it as a gift from her parents...).
So I've had a T-Mo S7 for about a year and a half now. It's incredibly slow/unresponsive and I've spent a really long time troubleshooting.
I've done full factory resets, and direct ODIN OS installs with data wipes. Whenever I do this, the phone starts out, with all current apps installed, extremely fast/responsive. I have a somewhat limited app library, and I haven't added anything since the phone slowed down noticeably.
About two months ago, the Samsung Device Maintenance app, which until then only reported battery draining, said "Some apps or processes are overloading the system (CPU)" and the app it reported was something like com.android/google.searchbar" which I assume is the google search bar widget. I thought, "awesome, the device app is actually doing something." I told it to kill the app and my phone sprung to life. My phone was super fast for a long time, but is now back to being super slow again. I searched "Apps" in device settings and can't find any apps/processes that sound anything like search bar. Also, how is there not a system resource monitor in system settings!? Clearly, an app is hogging resources, because I've experienced periods of responsiveness. Is there no direct way to figure this out without doing the safe mode process of elimination?
Can someone help shed some light or suggest further troubleshooting steps? Thanks in advance.
I got mine on black friday 2 years ago and I've been having the same issue. Of course my battery doesn't last very long being it's over 2 years old. I'm guessing it may have some.thing to do with the battery voltage being so weak after so long. I'm due for an upgrade obviously but I'd be fine using my S7 for another year if a battery replacement did the trick. I believe I was told in chat that I could go into the store and they'd only charge me $5 but I assume they'd have to send the phone out unless they just swap it out for a refurbished one. I've had no other problems with mine at all so not really the route I want to take.
Anyone else familiar with this process? Has anyone else had their battery replaced or phone swapped and notice if the fresher battery helps or is it just a symptom of it "can't" handle the newer OS properly? Any feedback would be appreciated. Hopefully it helps us both out. Didn't mean to hijack the thread!

So I promise it's not the battery because I had it factory replaced by Samsung. To answer your question, yeah you have to send it in. With the waterproofing they have to do it at a repair center. However, for me it was 100% worth it. I think I was without the phone for about 10 days. But having a brand new battery life was incredible.
Also, as I was working with the phone slow for a while, it immediately and dramatically became quick after device maintenance killed that process. But a few months later, I'm back to suuuuper slow.
The S7 is getting old. Old things slow down. It's planned obsolescence. I've gotten to the point of turning notifications off for all apps and only using badge numbers to tell me when to check something. I also use do not disturb a lot when gaming instead of game tools because game tools is another app but do not disturb is more of an internal process. As soon as my taxes come back I'm probably going to get a S8+
