Resurrection ROM 8.6.0 - OnePlus 7 Questions & Answers

Hi, I just flashed the ROM mentioned above and downloaded XDA labs, it's not allowing me to choose OnePlus 6t only from OP7 to OP8 etc.
Anyone know a fix for it?
Thanks

I'm sorry, I don't get your question, you're using a op6t and you're not able to choose the correct model in XDA?
If so you have posted in the wrong place, this is op7 thread...
However you can always alter the build prop file to whichever model you want

Hi sorry I looked into build.prop file for some reason it had a different model version than what my phone is. I changed it and XDA gave the option for OnePlus 6t again. Thanks ?

just purchased my first OnePlus device.

Hi guys.
Finally bit the bullet and got my first ever OnePlus device, the 7 pro. After being a Samsung fan forever, I thought I would give something else a try.
Is there any tips, ideas ect I should know about that every OP user should know?
Let me know, thanks ?

Awesome! Thank you, the alert slider was the first thing I come to love instantly.
May I ask what developer preview is?
Also I need to buy a adapter as I am from Australia and the plug is American, so I can't plug it into my wall plug lol.

You can check some threads here about Developer preview (Android Q). I haven't done mine because of busy work schedule.
I don't know either where to get a plug, your best bet is a plug converter or check OnePlus website.

Same scenario as myself, mine came in on Tuesday.
Also check out the OnePlus community forums , lots of posts there and things to learn.
What I have learned in the 4 days of using the op7pro is that there are not many of any options for tweaking unless rooted. Unlike my s10p which wasn't rooted and had thousands of fonts for example and substratum and hex support.

The OP7P is pretty awesome stock unrooted, but OnePlus devices have always been root-friendly. TitaniumBackup is a friend if you're a root user

I guess it depends on what each individual wants out of their device. For me I'd like to theme status bar and navbar icons and colors and have more than two fonts to chose from.

I also just purchased my first oneplus. Previous devices being samsung, sony, htc. I modded all my previous devices and since this is a new brand for me, i guess i am a little lost on some details. I read up on all the guides and so on and i think i understand on the processes of bootloader unlocking, twrp and magisk root. I now need to have my "uh-oh" knowledge before moving forward. My first question is my device is a 1910 device aka Chinese, but i am running OOS and i read that as my phone carries the GM21AA build, i am able to flash India/US/Global versions. As i understand it, to do manual OTAs, i am to take the OTA files from the thread here https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7-pro/how-to/oneplus-7-pro-global-repo-oxygen-os-t3930585 and put it in the download folder and i can manually update it through settings. My question is can i flash a global or indian build on my preexisting Chinese build OOS? Also will it be possible to upload bootloader and all the other stuff if i update to the latest OOS? Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance.

Yes.
A 1910 (China) phone will run Hydrogen, EU OOS, or Global OOS. Take your pick. Most people would probably chose Global.

Is there a specific difference between them? Mine is a GM1910 so I'm assuming it's Chinese? It was purchased on eBay.

It is my understanding the phones are physically identical. The only difference is the roms.
Hydrogen is the Chinese rom which your 1910 phone would originally have had. It has everything Google removed because Chinese Government doesn't like Google. In addition it has state approved Chinese apps. EU OOS and Global OOS are near identical. Both contain Google. However, the European Union does not like Google's near monopoly. So due to EU laws, EU OOS contains less Google and more ability to opt out.
Global is a good option, IMHO, because it has everything and you can then debloat to the way you want.

Ah okay, understood. My phone didn't have any Google stuff on it until I restored from my account and it installed everything I had on my S10 onto my OP7P.
Absolutely incredible phone, blazing fast compared to my Exynos S10, not too mention 90hz display makes it look butter smooth.
Here in Australia we didn't get Snapdragon Samsung devices, so to feel the difference is night and day, I understand why everyone goes Snapdragon over Exynos for performance.

Thanks for the reply. So i flash it by putting the OTA in downloads and just choosing it from system update's local storage mode? Sorry, very new to Oneplus and of course A/B partitions and all that. Bit daunting at first but i'll get the hang of it soon.
EDIT
Currently running 9.5.3, so safe to jump straight to 9.5.11?

One plus 7 Pro - Rom similar to FreedomOS?

I have owned a oneplus3t and a 5t both running freedomOS. Sadly this is no longer being made.
I have been offered a one plus 7 pro for a good price but before I went ahead and got it, can anyone suggest a similar OS to FreedomOS?
Basically something reliable, debloated and minimal.
Thanks for your help in advance.

Q&A
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7-pro/help
I like Carbon ROM for that very reason. It can be used with/without Gapps as you like. ASOP based. It's a solid ROM, very reliable. Dev is on top of things especialy on telegram Chanel, but keeps an eye on XDA too. Similar to Arrow with regards to feature set. But Arrow not available (AFAIK) for op7p. https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7-pro/development/10-carbonrom-cr-8-0-t4090375
xXx-nolimits is like old FreedomOS

Red cable / cloud advertisement in settings

Do the EU / Global firmwares have this thing in the settings or is it only India specific? I'm really annoyed!
I'm on EU, I've never seen that, but I'm logged in with OnePlus account and also I use Blokada, so I don't have ads anywhere.

You could have just removed the red cable crap. Seems easier that way. I was annoyed to get an Indian version too. Hopefully that's the only difference.

What apps particularly?
I read that Indian firmwares have have some fake partitions and deleting the img file removes red cable ads from settings. So I decided to flash EU

Are you thinking about dd'ing all the partitions and then flashing them to a tmo variant? It would be risky but might work with a freshly factory wiped device. Of course make a full backup of your own first. Especially modemst and persist partitions.

So, not sure which version that file was created from, but the readme (script) basically says the phone will boot but not work as a phone, and to use local update to update to the latest full OTA. Given that we still dont have the international OTA, it's not gonna help get us there.
Also, while it does contain super.img (system, vendor, product, etc), it doesn't have other partitions like carrier, config, op2, featenabler, and a bunch of other ones. I'm not sure this will get us to fully international. I might try anyways tonight when I get some time.

Hi there! Did/do you mean 3.75 gb? I've seen the incremental global build at around 352 MB. The full ota are around 3.5 gb big.
In addition, I use mega.nz to host huge files. It's fast and secure.:good:
I'm just waiting for a fully working MSM Tool for conversion, I saw the others are complicated with issues on Windows using the script, so yeah waiting game is on!

Question Anyone having trouble install Netflix?

Hi all, I just noticed my Netflix app is not usable after convert CN to WW.
ROM: Tencent device with 86(latest) WW firmware.
Cannot find the Netflix app in Play Store. Installed manually from APK and the app says "The device is not support by the app."
Tried clean Play Store' cache and data.
Any idea??
Netflix is known to read device properties. Fix the conversion and you'll likely fix it. The alternative would be something like the MagiskHide Props Config module.
