Custom Rom P40 Lite E ?? We Need it - Huawei P40 Questions & Answers

Hello,
Is there any possibility for a port from Lineage OS to the P40 Lite E ? This google thing is a big problem, even after installing some apps are not working as they should, without a custom firmware this phone is pretty useless.
Is there any change that we can get some custom firmware over it?
Thank you in advance.

Sure, so..you got the bootloader unlocked?

as far as i know there is a test point for this model, could that be useful ? thats usually useful for unlocking the phone which also needs an unlocked bootloader.

[Q] pending kitkat update and bootloader

Since Motorola announced that KitKat will be coming to the HD, hopefully another boot loader unlock will follow. My phone was stolen and the Assurion sent me a replacement that was already upgraded to latest OTA.
Something a lot of us are hoping for.

Not trying to be a party pooper but if anything changes with the boot loader its only going to be even harder to crack... that's the point of an update they're not going to make stuff easier for the dev community, especially not on a Verizon device haha as for the rest of us, we can always unlock through moto (xt925)

Is not possible to get an unlock directly from Motorola? I mean make a massive petition to Motorola from all locked devices owners not just xt926 I think that another models are locked

XT925/ "international version" can be unlocked through Motorola just fine, the only device locked down is the XT926 and I doubt that's going to change anytime soon (officially anyway) and it sure won't be any easier to unlock it after an update

So bad for xt926 owners

It's not really Moto, it's Verizon. Notice that you can unlock the 925?

The 925 should be able to be unlocked through the Moto website.
so just to be clear the bootloader doesn't necessarily have to be unlocked first via moto site...i can use this toolkit 4.0 utility that has an option to unlock bootloader is this accurate?
thx

I think it depends on the system version, but I'm not really sure for the 925. For the 926, you had to be on the version that was two OTAs ago to be able to unlock. For the 925, you can try Motopocalypse, the worst it will do is fail. If it doesn't work, then the website should work fine for you.
ok thx...i just received the phone today well yesterday at this point...haven't even booted up yet. wasn't sure if i'll keep it or not. how do u find it? i mean do u recommend it? i have an infuse 4g presently so just wondering if i should switch...

Honestly, I'm kind of biased. I just got the Razr M in January and it was my first smart phone, ever. So, naturally, I was impressed because it was such a drastic improvement over my dumb phone. I purchased my HD used in September and I like it even more than the M. The battery life is noticeably better and the screen is better. It also has a lot more memory than the M, which I think accounts for why it feels a little quicker than the M. The ROM and processor are the same as the M, though. Luckily, I was able to unlock the bootloader on the M and I purchased the HD unlocked, so my custom options are endless. It wouldn't hurt to boot it and see how you like it, prior to modifying it.
Exactly what I was getting at...I was wondering in terms of customizing it. I guess being somewhat familiar with the Samsung method was wondering how easy it was for moto cuz it sort of sounds more complicated or maybe it's just unfamiliar...u know what I mean?

Yeah, I know what you mean. My first experience with Android was my Tab2 and it was really easy to unlock. I didn't see which model of the HD you picked up. If you are international, you are good. Yes, it is kind of a pain to unlock through the Moto website, but if you're good with ADB, I believe you run ADB commands to unlock the BL. If you have the 926 and it's on the latest OTA, you're out of luck for root or unlocking.

I've got the 925...in Canada. And shipped with ICS 4.0 if not mistaken. Well i'm still a noob at this but i've flashed alot so i have a base knowledge.
I wasn't aware of HD getting 4.4, that's nice.
I just got my replacement from bestbuy's insurance. I was excited thinking it would be a version I could unlock, (my last one was only rooted) but instead I find that it's already on 9.30 and I can't even root it!

You should be able to unlock your BL using ADB or the Moto website. Then, you'll be able to load up a custom recovery and flash some ROMs. The only bad thing, though, is that not all the custom ROMs support the 925.
I've been trying it out today...It came with 4.1.2 installed. So far I like it. Do u know if I can use Dan Rosenberg's methods like the motochopper and as u suggested motopocalypse. What I understand I can unlock the boot loader with Motorola but is this less advantageous than with motopoc....all this bugs me about the phone seems very difficult to gain root

It has been my experience, and I have rooted and unlocked at least 10 different personal Android devices, that updates seem to move the unlocking process along. Finding differences in the code seems to allow devs to pinpoint potential exploits. That being said, you are absolutely correct in saying that an updated bootloader is harder to crack. This is why almost every exploit for any device that has been rooted comes with the disclaimer to not update to the newest latest greatest software.
Fortunatly, the newest update does not prevent the seem edit that unlocks the SIM. I am using my xt926 on T-Mobile because, screw Verizon.
To the new people considering unlocking, I highly reccommend unlocking for the sake of battery performance. I have the Razr HD Maxx and the battery lasts a very reasonable 24-26 hours with light to medium usage. Running PacMan, my battery lasted at least 48 hours and sometimes into 3 days.

I am certain that there is already one that was floated around sometime last year. I doubt Motogoogle is motivated to change anything via petition especially if these petitions represent people that have already purchased the device. Instead they will improve the next product, in this case the Moto X.

Just got the sony xz the us version.

Im coming from a note 4, been using strictly note series since the note one. First sony phone i use, my question is how do to get the fingerprint scanner to function. I read somewere you can flash the uk version firmware and it will work. So is there a rom that has the uk version firmware built in? I still havent unlock the bootloader or rooted it. Still looking into that havent seen any real good guide on how to root.

TThaks for that, then after i follow that process i can then install an rom and it would still be active?
You can just install a xda developer rom and you'll have the fingerprint working... That process is if you want the stock rom

Root

Has anybody been able to root this phone yet?
I'm new to Huawei (coming from Samsung) so don't have any experience on rooting with this brand and any help would be appreciated.

Not yet, but hopefully an unlocked bootloader and root are in the cards....
Root root roooottt!!!
Huawei requires us to wait 2 weeks after owning the phone and logging into Huawei's servers. Then, they'll allow us to get an unlock code for the bootloader.
Once the bootloader is unlocked, rooting will be a piece of cake.
Thanks. I guess you need to activate the Huawei ID for this?

No, haven't seen anything. Some people here are testing, and they will post details once successful....
I rooted my last two phones (Note 2 and 4) but I'm wondering if it's a big deal for the Mate 9.
It's got really good control of unwanted apps, and I suspect there won't be any custom ROMs for a while.
So what are you guys hoping to do with a rooted Mate 9?

If I recall correctly there are 2 custom ROMs floating around already, a Chinese and an Italian one.

Question about compatibility between two similar devices

My father have a huawei g play mini (chc-u01) and no custom roms are available. I heard that the honor 4c mount the same hardware (cpu, ram, gpu, motherboard)... Avery single thing is the same. Now: can I install lineage os 14 for 4c in the g play mini chc-u01? I think yes but since the phone is not mine I don't want to risk too much... Even because I don't know is there is a tool for pc like odin or flashtool for xperia devices
There are many devices which are very similar but can't use the same rom. I would suggest to not do it since we are not sure.

NOTE 5 AI dedicated thread?

Why can we not have a dedicated thread for the chinese version of the phone? I myself still have audio issues on my phone and changing regions did not help at all. Also since majority of users are using pro most of the solutions don't work for me. I also have 360hr wait time on my bootloader. I unlocked it originally on first try but I flashed china rom after checking out the global rom for a while and locked it again. Now I cannot bypass the wait time. Also getting recoveries and what not for the Ai is also difficult since it is usually hidden under a bunch of replies in a thread.
Because both are Whyred, and they're almost same except for camera, and everything works on both of the devices i.e., n5 pro and n5 ai.... and afaik there'll be same bugs too...
Why would flashing China rom relock your bootloader? That doesn't make sense.

Correction : I tried to use the twrp recovery that is linked in the first post of that thread and my Ai simply did not boot to it. After going into the discussion further I found a working version someone posted. Also china rom does not have any region other than china in the system. I flashed global rom on it to see if changing region fixed the issue and nope. The headphone low volume is still a problem.

It might be but I can't be certain until I flash a custom rom for which the audio works. And I can't do that because the damned bootloader is locked behind 240hr+ wait time.

Till then, you can try some other headphones to be sure that it's not the headphones that are messed up, see if any of your friend have N5 AI too amd test if audio is working fine there....and if nothing solves the problem then complaining to Xiaomi about this would might be the last thing you could do....best of luck?

That is not strictly true. I have tge Chinese version and as the OP has said when you instalk the Global Rom you cannot select any region.other than China you lose fubctionality because of this.

I know the earphones are not the problem as I have been using them on my last phone for a year now. And I got the Ai fairly recently. Mine is an unofficial version so complaining to Xiaomi is a no go. I will try to go to the retailer I got it from after I try using a custom rom on the device. Its honestly not that big of a deal as I can just use earbuds to circumvent the problem. My loudspeakers are loud af.

Nope. You do get all the regions on the global rom. But other than installing region specific bloatware it does not actually fix the low volume issue. Plus the global rom feels unpolished and has a lot of unnecesary tracker apps installed including facebooks own spying apps.
