I am trying to get a widget to show my photos and things like one year from now etc.
I searched but neither gallery nor Google photos has a widget? I think android would have much better widgets than iOS but basic widgets such as gallery don't exist.
What am I missing?
Download Picture Frame Widget from the Samsung app store. They don't include it on all devices but it lets you use your gallery as a picture frame widget.

Yes you do, it's in the middle of your screen shot where it says other similar apps.

Got it. Thanks.
The implementation is very mediocre. Its just like a sideshow of all pictures.
I am looking at what Google photos does. Make stories and says last year this time etc. No point in just shuffling all thousands of pictures which even includes page pictures etc.
Even though I am loving the note 20 ultra after using iPhone for 1p years, same company makes way better apps for iOS. After 10 years of widgets there are just very basic widgets by the apps themselves.

If you go into the settings you can really customize it beyond just a slideshow. There are a lot of options.
Just picking up from the post by @enjoylife1788
Is there a widget that can use Google Photos as the source? I want to put that widget on my mother's phone and then my brother's & I can either load photos remotely to her Google Photos or maybe even share out pictures with her. That way, she, although not tech capable can get to see our pictures.
Will really appreciate any tip to get this happening.

Hi, @enjoylife1788
I use a previous version of Samsung Picture Frame Widget (Version 1.8.01.6) because it has more options.
Nova Launcher allows resizing of widgets.
The Samsung Gallery app will create stories. It also has Labs which will appear when you click several times on the version in "About app."
I am using Simple Gallery Pro (Simple Mobile Tools) on N20U. It may have a widget, but since I have it installed on external storage the widget does not appear in the widgets list.

Yo just wanted to say thank you for this. Spent a stupidly long amount of time trying to find a basic competent photo widget. The latest version of the Samsung widget doesn't let you access the settings on Nova. So thanks!

I used to use "Jorte" on my Samsung i9000 phone which work pretty good.
But when I use it on transformer. I found it didn't use the advantage of the
Hi-res. Still the same layout but streched to full screen.
Unlike the tablet version of evernote and catch, which is re-layout properly.
Is there any calendar APP with tablet version support? You can refer to iPad's
calendar and you will know what I mean.

+1 here, this is something I'm looking for also
Just out of curiosity, what does the built-in calendar app not do that you want it to?

I'm not sure about the OP, but the calendar app widget built-in to HC only shows a week out. Jorte gives a few weeks, potentially a month, in a handy little widget. But on tablets it is too small to use.
I use touch calendar. The resolution doesn't get stretched as Jorte
the calendar from Samsung tab seems nice. Any chance to extract it?
Check the screenshot.

+1 wizz widgets and the stock calendar work quite well for me.
Wizz seems like it will be my choice too, at least for now. I wish Jorte would update or Cozi would support google calendars.

I use pure grid calendar. no stretch cause it has tablet support
I might check it out, looks good. I wish there were a ad-supported version, if only just to check it out.
Not a fan how the agenda and calendar widgets are charged for separately.
Try Business Calendar. It's fantastic and offers great widgets too!
I've tried both pocket informant and jorte.. must say Business Calendar is much better, even than both combined
/offtopic : What i dislike is the fact that my backspace-key seems to delete 2 characters in stead of one. (dn't notice earlier, so I guess it's only on this forum?? That, plus I keep touching the touchpad when I type on the keyboard

What keyboard are you using? If using an aftermarket keyboard, sometimes mine (Tablet Keyboard on TF and Swiftkey on phone) will weird out a bit, so I have to restart.
I'm pretty content with Tablet Keyboard or whatever it's called.
It has the prediction of Swiftkey that I love so dearly, but I won't buy SK out of spite. No need to charge a second time simply for a port, but I digress. Tablet Keyboard is free =P
Are there any similar widgets available on the Android Market similar to the HTC Photo Album Widget(s)? (Specifically the photo grid one and/or the swipe up/down one.)
The constant HTC "loading" after pressing home from any other app is ridiculously frustrating and these widgets are the only thing preventing me from switching to another launcher. I haven't been able to find a suitable replacement widget, but perhaps my search skills aren't up to par.
Anyone know of any widgets with similar functionality? (Basically any widget that isn't fixed to just one photo at a time, with some sort of interactivity allowing you to flip through photos right from the widget.)
Anyone?
Have you tried multiple slideshow?

I liked that widget too. That tile grid is fly, but it was certainly not worth me keeping Sense. I switched to Launcher Pro. I looked for some on the market, but I did not see anything remotely similar to that widget.

Aye. I use it all the time. I love it! It looks great and very slick.
Plus, it's great for theft deterrent. I misplaced my phone in a store and one of the employees was able to easily return it to me since my pictures were all over the home screen.
I tried the Multipic Slideshow Widget, but wow, it just does not compare.
I wonder why slideshow widgets are so few and far between? Seems like an easy place to clean up since there are no worthwhile competitors.
I understand completely

I feel you on the theft. That is why my lockscreen is the one where you can use a photo album as the source. ALL my family and friends come in and out of focus when the phone needs to be unlocked. You can steal my phone, but you can't steal my family (though i wish some members could be "borrowed" for an extended period of time. lol).
As for the widget, I am not sure if it is a htc proprietary thing. I just know I would use it in launcher pro. Again, this is the ONLY widget I like from Sense but I am not going to use Sense just for this app. I will keep looking for alternatives and post back if I find something.
I use auto upload when WiFi+charging, great for our phones with limited storage, So I rely a lot on Google+ auto backup photos. I delete pictures from my local album to free space, but...
When I am browsing my photos through Google+, I CANNOT swipe left or right to go previous/next picture. If I do that, when I leave the app, my phone gets extreme lag, especially in home screen and notification drawer. I even thought this was some CleanRom related bug, but I'm using stock rooted and the problem is still there. I also thought this could be a Sense Launcher bug, but even with Nova launcher it happens.
Anyone else having this issue? I bet there a lot of people experiencing this.. It took me a while to figure out what was causing it, but it's very simple: Just open a photo on Google+ and swipe left or right to go the next/previous pic. Your phone should lag like crazy until you reboot it.

I get the lag too. I usually get it after closing YouTube, I also did the photo swiping you mentioned and was affected as well. Are you using the elementalx or bulletproof kernels?
Using stock rooted rom and kernel. I used to get similar slowdowns on ElementalX kernel, but I could never find the source. In this case I was able to nail it down, and I haven't experienced lag from other apps.

Honestly unless your a huge fan of Google plus I would recommend using drop box (which has the same feature) .
(Especially since it seems like Google plus failed to take off)
+ drop has integration to backup stuff from quite a few apps (fuelio & tibu for example)

I have used dropbox and box extensively before trying Google+ photos. What makes Google+ more attractive to me is that uploads at standard(but still high) resolution are unlimited. It also uploads my videos in HD, also unlimited.
It's not all about storage(I have a 50gb box account). When I actually want to view or download my photos , Google+ is much, much MUCH faster to load. Dropbox and Box are super slow to load, and they also don't sort my pictures by date. Google+ even highlights what it thinks are the best pictures from any given day, enhances them to make them look better and it even creates animations out of my burst shots.
For photo storage, Google+ is so much better, there's just no contest.
I decided to give Aviate a try yesterday, and I really liked the concept, but it was a little too rigid for me. So I spent some time last night playing around with different widgets and Nova features to incorporate the parts of Aviate that I appreciate into my current setup.
One concept I really appreciate is the categories idea. The screen to the right of my default home screen has long been a collection of folders that kind of function the same way.
With Nova's option to turn off padding, you can essentially turn a screen into a full-page widget, and I was wondering if anyone has ever come across a widget that works like the categories page on Aviate.
I would like to be able to put my most frequently used apps along the left edge, so they are visible and one-tap accessible, and then be able to expand to see the apps I don't use as frequently. And I would like to be able to scroll through the categories.
Any suggestions or recommendations? If I had any knowledge about building apps, I would try to throw one together. Alas, I lack such knowledge. If anyone else is feeling inspired, I would be happy to chip in to support their efforts.

apart from the "scrolling through the categories" it sounds like you are a prime candidate for Action Launcher... :victory:
One of the key features with AL is that you can set folders so that a single tap opens the "primary app", and an upwards swipe starting on that icon opens the folder. So you can have a folder called "Social", for example, where a single tap opens Facebook, but a swipe gives you the folder with Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and LinkedIn.
You can also set widgets in place of the folder; i.e. an icon for Chrome, where a swipe opens the Bookmarks widget
This even works with the dock!
I've been using Action Launcher on my Nexus 10 and Nexus 5 since it came out (and Aviate on my Nexus 5 since beta) and I've simplified everything down to one home screen with the Dock having icons as described above for games, social, internet, media, photos

I'm running through Action Launcher now. This is a very different approach, and I like that. The one area where I think it falls short is in aesthetics. It doesn't look very refined to me. I'll keep experimenting with it for now, but I'm hoping someone has an idea for a widget I can just stick on my right screen.

It's certainly a lot "fresher" than the more established brands due to being significantly newer. Things are likely to pick up again soon as the developer has time to work on updates again now.
One thing you can do with the "Pro" version that might be contributing to your aesthetics opinion is hide the little white square indicators on the icons... certainly makes a big difference in my opinion! I definitely prefer the alphabetically indexed single-scroll list in the app drawer once I got used to it!

Absolutely! I used to have about 4 different homescreens for various collections and widgets but after getting used to AL I've slimmed it down to one single screen with zero loss of function thanks to shutters and covers
The fact that you can access the app menu (left side) and "quick page" (right side) from any other app or launcher is also pretty useful (again once you get used to it)
Hi I was wondering if anyone found a launcher that would be optimized for the cover display?
Currently I installed Hyperion and added it to goodlocks widget and while the app icons are resized for the coverscreen and I can launch all my apps from there, I was hoping if anyone tried any other launchers that function better
And yes I am aware of samsprung and coverscreen os, I have samsprung installed but I like the fact that goodlocks implementation allows for gesture nav to work and it allows for the fingerprint reader to unlock my phone without Bixby
That's not a half bad idea. I hadn't even thought of using the widget to launch a launcher.

Ya so far it's been working great, it gets me around the 5 app limit, I did the same thing with your original widget as well for fun but since there wasn't a way to press a back button back then it was ultimately pointless but with goodlocks widget I find it useful despite some limitations(picture in picture mode still works so YouTube videos need to closed or else you'll have a bad time)
I thought an android tv launcher would work better but the ones available on the app store are super glitchy
There used to be a launcher inside Kodi. I wonder how that would do being made to support almost anything.
