I believe there's a newer version of Google Maps available in Market than the one installed on my Xperia. It has voice search features and navigation based on this. I see it on the Google Maps home-page and on my buddy's Nexus One. Very cool. But on my Xperia neither of these are available? And I've installed the latest update available for me on Market. Am I being exceptionally dim here? Can anyone tell me what to do...?
Thanks/M
I guess it's Eclair only

Yeah, 4.1.1 (#4156) is what I have on the X10 as is. In Labs there's no mention of "Navigation" or "Search by voice", though. Downloading and installing the .apk from mediafire didn't work either. Got a "Sorry! The application ES File Explorer (process com.estrongs.android.pop) has stopped unexpectedly."
Bummer!/M
For those having hard time with navigation follow these step.
On Home screen click to add shorcut and select Directions & Navigation.

Yep! That was a way to get Navigation going on my phone. Doesn't work though . Comes back with a "No route found" and then exits Navigation, irrespective of where I want to go or where I am to start with (in Stockholm, thatis). So far as I can tell I can't trigger this beta directly from Maps though, it needs to be from this shortcut...?
Thanks/M
ok.. I have 4.1.1 too.. (i'm in the UK).. I "Launched" navigation by going into Maps and the then selecting "Directions" from the menu.. once you've keyed in the start and end points and clicked on "go" it brings up the directions and then gives you the "Navigation" option at the top of the list, immediately below "show on map"...

Download the modified Maps from Brut.all http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=630887
works perfect on the X10 WITH navigation.
I upgraded my google maps to version 2.0 so far no voice navigation., bummer. that would be nice if it has one
The newest version of google maps i know is version 4.2.0
But i cannot find it in android market.
Can this new google maps (ver 4.2.0) being installed in the X10i?
Sorry about that. It is version 4.2.0. I reinstalled it and tried the navigation and to my surprise I started to hear some voice instructing me to turn. It is slower compared to a regular gps but it works well
does anyone else find that this new version is harder to kill, and remains running taking up a huge amount of resources? I dont remember the previous version being so pesky
Hey
Is there a way to download maps and use Google Maps offline? Its great but I dont like that you have to have a data connection to be able to use/navigate your GPS when using Google Maps.

Unfortunately not. Maybe you can get Copilot. But that one is expensive. Or you could ask if someone could get HTC Locations of the HTC Desire Z. I don't know if it will work on your device, but you could try it.
Good luck with it.

Unfortunately it doesn't work for navigation, map mode only.
You can also try this taranfx.com/android-offline-google-maps. Saves all tiles to sdcard

Hi riahc3,
You may want to try and find "Maps (-)" app. Its on the market. It can cache the google maps for use when there is no intenet access..
I discovered it a few weeks ago and since then i dont have to use google maps any more.
Make sure that you have enough space on your memory card .. for me it took more then 300mb when i cached the areas i travel often.
Works wiith gps too

Not sure if that's what you need, but there are two apps I know about that allow for saving maps and using them online - Rmaps (I haven't used that much) and Locus.
I find Locus better, you can download the maps on the device, when you are connected to wifi and then use them offline, both of them can use maps downloaded through Mobile Atlas Creator.
Both of these programs support much more map providers than just google maps, such as OSM and some local providers.
Update: Same number and same time!
Dear, my name is Miguel, I previously made a video on how to install WhatsApp natively on the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 (INSTALL:
), and now I upload these 2 videos on how I made it work from Google contacts. Greetings Michael.
NOW IT WORKS !!!! You have to install the Google Contacts APP, synchronize them and open WhatsApp from the contact you want to call or send a message to.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/de...
HOW TO USE WHATSAPP: https://youtu.be/_Kpm3zL4pns
WHATSAPP GROUP CALL: https://youtu.be/iGmv3Oq61B8
Once WhatsApp is installed, you need to install the "Google Contacts" app, then do a sync.
And from the Google Contacts App you can use WhatsApp.
Unfortunately if you want to open WhatsApp directly it closes.
That is why the need to Install the Google Contacts App.

You can download the Apk from Uptodown. Or you can use an Application such as "Apk Analyzer" that transforms the Contacts App that you already have on your Smartphone, into an Apk file. This last option is safer. Then you must install the Apk on the Smartwatch.

Hello
So how can i create messages on Whats app, on my watch? just via the Contacts app?
In my case when I install whatsapp on watch 4 & use the same number that I have in my phone, it logs out from my phone. Any solution for this?

Use different number. You can have up to one mobile device (and one PC) with one number.
This is cool, thanks for the explanations.
I am not a native spanish speaker (I speak portuguese, so very similar languages) and it was easy to understand. But I think with the videos, one can follow pretty good.
I found one problem though.
I have a 42mm and a 46mm smartwatch.
On the 42mm you cannot get past the part where you type in your name, because the button is "hidden" (the screen is too small) and you can't scroll down. On the 46mm I can see the very top of the button, thus I can click and get past.
And would be nice to have the same number on phone and watch, but anyway, that's whatsapp "fault" that does not allow more than 1 mobile.

Good morning, in that case you have to clone WhatsApp. For that you need to Root the Smartphone and the smartwatch. Install titanium backup pro apk, and do some very complicated procedures. But the easiest thing is to install the Informer app, which gives you the possibility of receiving WhatsApp notifications from the Smartphone to the smartwatch, and listening to audios, viewing photos, etc., and also responding with audio, etc. best regards Miguel

Good morning with the Bujaeger app you can reduce the size of the screen. You have to connect through Adb and with the command "wm density 150" you will shrink the screen and you will see the button. Then you use the "wm density reset" command and it goes back to the original size. Greetings Miguel

If you're right, I missed that step, you can download it from here: https://google-contacts.uptodown.com/android (I have to install it with Bujaeger, just like the WhatsApp Apk), or you can use the app "Apk Analizer" and export the Apk Google Contacts from your Smartphone, but it is more complicated. Use the Uptodown Apk which I think is a secure page. Best regards Miguel

BTW, I don't know if this was said already, but your method works for Telegram as well.
Can send, receive, even make calls via Telegram
One question, changing the size of the screen changes on every aspect of the watch, can I reduce it from app to app?
Ex.: have only Telegram be smaller, but other apps and app gallery all stay normal.

The theme that before when you installed an app on your Smartphone, it was installed with all the libraries. The libraries are to be able to use the app in any Operating System. For example wear uses the armeabi-v7a library, new smartphones use arm64, etc. But as of November 2021, Google eliminated the libraries that your Smartphone did not use and only leaves the arm64 library, so that 90% of your Smartphone apps, you will not be able to use them on the smartwatch. I was lucky enough to extract the Apk from Google Home before November with all the libraries from my Smartphone, but now, I had to resort to the Uptodown page. On this page you can download the Apk, which comes with all the available libraries. https://chromecast.uptodown.com/android Saludos cordiales Miguel

Yes, I was able to activate it, you have to go to the menu on the left, NFC appears and only then shrink the screen. In the afternoon I upload video
if i am not mistaken, once you will verify your phone number on the samsung watch 4, whatsapp will disconnect from your native phone and will no longer work on your actual phone, isn't that correct? because whatsapp does not allow 2 phones connected to a number.
So basically that means that using WhatsApp simultaneously with the Watch and your Native Phone will not work... you will have to verify with SMS everytime you switch device

Now suppose you have the LTE Smartwatch ... It would be very useful to have the native WhatsApp on your smartwatch and not depend on the Smartphone .... To see the "Next" button you must shrink the screen with the wm density 150 command. And then restore the screen with "wm density reset". Your smartwatch should be 42mm, and mine is 44mm. The idea is to bring native WhatsApp on a Samsung galaxy watch 4 LTE with e-sim

Dear, in both Samsung Pay and Google play, the screen must be on. It is a defect of the smartwatch. Unfortunately when you turn to bring the smartwatch closer to the terminal, the screen of the Smartwatch turns off, but that also happens with Samsung Pay and Google Pay. Best regards Miguel
