Hello guys, does anyone know of any power bank and cable combination which can trigger the Mi Turbo Charge? I know about some QC4.0 power banks but Mi Turbo Charge seems to be very dependent on the cable+charger combination, even my newly bought Xiaomi Mi Power Bank 3 Pro 20000 mAh 45W seems incompatible.

that is good information, so does this mean it has to be usb-a to usb-c connection? or usb-c to usb-c is possible?

I guess usb c to usb c will work, but the cable needs to be compatible with QC 4
I have a Xiaomi 18w PowerBank 3 but it only has fast charging with USB A to USB Type C, I am waiting for a cable with both Type C outputs to see if it charges like this since the PowerBank has a Type C input and the seller told me that if it accepted PD charger

I looked further into this, there is an extra pin on the charger side, but I don't think it makes a difference, because I tried my older USB-C cables (with no extra pin) with the original charger and it still showed Mi Turbo Charge. So I guess it is the charger that matters and not the cable.

But if it's 18W, and our charger is 33w for full turbo charging...? The math doesn't add up..

That's right.
And the charger is 33w, which is what I wrote.
I would be curious if those power banks with 33w charge just as fast as the charger... Would love to hear if anyone uses something like this.
The anker powercore speed is capable of fast charging the F2.
It is " limited" to QC3 so it's not at the absolute max speed the phone could handle.

Hi guys,
I want to buy a extra charger for my 6P at work. I am wondering what specs should I be looking for for the quick charging capability? The google store has one that is 15W and another one that is higher. I don't know which one to choose, also, I want to see if I can buy any 3rd party one from Amazon that can give me quick charging.
Thanks!
I would stick with the one sold by Google until 3rd parties make one similarly specced. 5v / 3a / 15ww, USB type C plug.

I think everyone has the same questions regarding chargers and cables. It's probably best to try and get by with what's in the box for a bit, I'm sure affordable choices will soon be available.

There are 2 options now from Google, but I wouldn't call them cheap. I bought the $40 dual port charger for my bag because it seems nice, and if it sucks I can easily send it back.

Unless it supports 3A at 5V then probably not. any QC 2.0 charger will only output 2.0A at most for 5V so that's not fast charging.

Won't it work with any Qualcomm QC 2.0 power adapter (outputting 5, 9 and 12V) and with a suitable USB-C lead? I am hoping that will be the case anyway, as I've got two QC 2.0 adapters for home and 1 car charger adapter. Should keep me covered, and all I'll need to do is buy new USB-C cables.

He answered it below... That was with a QC2.0 charger giving him "2A" input according to Android OS.
Basically the phone shows "faster charging" when anything higher amperage gets used, not just native usb-c. The speed it charges is obviously not the same, but at least it utilizes a higher rate.

Assuming 15W is considered Fast Charging, then Type C has nothing to do with it. Current QC 2.0 chargers pump 18W via Type A to Micro B cables.
It is the limited design of the 6P that requires a Type C end to end solution (or captive charger) to permit fast charging. A little more thoughtful design choices would have allowed 18W via a Type A to Type C cable in the same way as the QC chargers operate by over charging a stupid cable or by respecting USB Power Delivery at 12V/1.5A in a smart cable solution.

I concur, but it is important to dispel the marketing nonsense that Type C some how represents a "Fast Charging" solution. It is a connector and would have supported much better "Fast Charging" solutions than a steady state 5V solution. It will perform very well from 0% charge, but will lag higher voltage solutions at the other end of the charging cycle.

Sorry, this is not true. The higher voltage of the power delivery has no effect on charging speed given the same total power. This is especially true at the top end of the battery SOC where the charge rate is limited by the battery chemistry.
Has someone gathered some experience with Mi5 compatible chargers supporting Quick Charge 3.0?
The original chinese charger that came with the 128GB Mi5 version actually has a QC 3 symbol on the back - while I read it supports just 2.0.
My 'dream' charger should have easy switchable power plugs so it can be easily adjusted to the country's power sockets you're staying in. I remember my old HTC phone once came with 3 different, interchangeable plugs out of the box!
I bought this and works perfectly http://goo.gl/vasfAw
You can also use the Aukey Quick Charge 3.0 products.
I got one for my Mi 5 and its full compatible, shows also quick charge when plugged in.

I guess am using the same charger you mentioned (w/ 2 orange usb type a ports) in combination with the stock usb type a to c cable which was shipped with my MI5. The cable the charger came with was of little use as it is was not a type c cable :/
this notification you are talking of however.. how does it look like? atm I have no clue what I should be looking for to be honest
(I also tried an Anker QC 3.0 charger - performance-wise it was a lot worse than the Aukey charger and therefore went right back to Amazon)
I went for the Tronsmart qc3 for both car and regular. Good quality, just make sure you buy a decent cable along.

But I am not sure, and not bothered to test. :cyclops:
To those who replied here with tronsmart or aukey QC3 chargers, does it come with a USB type C cable? I cannot find any info about this in google alone. TIA, cheers.
My aukey QC3 charger from amazon Germany came without any cable. I am therefore currently using the stock USB type C cable. I am however not sure whether that cable is 100% compliant and to be honest quite annoyed by all that controversy around the type C standard and QC3 and the incompatibility between both -.-

No. Huawei's Supercharge is proprietary. You need their chargers, and their cables, to get full charge rate. They have a car charger listed on their site, but so far, it doesn't appear to be available anywhere.

Why? This phone has fantastic battery life and insane charging speeds. Charge with SuperCharge at home, and top up if you need to with a slower charger during the day... but you shouldn't need to do this. A standard USB type C charger will work well. USB PD works even better.

USB PD requires negotiation with the device to determine maximum power output. The charging brick must negotiate, as well as the e-marked cables I am using, to come anywhere close to the power the Mate 9 is pulling.
The Huawei charger pumps over 25 watts of power into the battery. This USB PD charger is doing 20 watts, max, and even less really because of voltage conversion that the Mate 9 charger doesn't have to do.
Unless Huawei totally screwed up designing the phone, it is safe. USB PD is not like QuickCharge... it is part of type C's specification. I have used Google's USB PD charger on a Note7 and LG V20 with zero issues, and those devices charged extremely fast using it as well.

Because the Belkin 2A charger + cable I have now is unable to charge it while I'm also using it with Spotify and Google Maps with the screen on. When I turn the screen off it charges really slow (Google Maps still running). I use this phone for navigation also when I'm working and sometimes I need it just for navigation 4 hours (and back) and then I also use it as a hotspot on location with clients. So ideally I would like my phone to be 100% when I arrive an not 70, by the time I get home it's at 30 and then I have the whole evening with only 30 % left.
As far as I know USB PD isn't supported with the Mate 9 BUT using a charger and cable that do support should not be dangerous as the charge is negotiated. I do find it strange that yours draws 20 watts.... would like someone to verify because if it is I'm buying a USB PD charger as that is the future!

If you look on the photos on the Xiaomi charger description, there's a clear photo of the specs printed on the charger, which show that it goes to 27W. Whether that's what is delivered is a different matter.
I looked at the BaseUs chargers, knowing they are a more reputable brand on AliExpress, but thought I'd go with the gamble of the cheaper brand, as it had decent reviews.

yeah that seems like a decent charger don't forget you have to use the USB C port to get the QC 4.0 27w speed, the other USB port only does quick charge 3.0, also don't select the dual USB port one either as both only do QC 3.0.
i wanted an AU plug so i ordered this one BlitzWolf BW-S12 27W QC4+ , will report back once i get it.
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/494610 , good price with the discount code, but the code will only work if you order from desktop browser.
only issue now is i guess i need a USB C to USB C 5A cable, as the cable that comes with the original charger in the box with phone is just standard USB to USB C, i do have an OTA adapter to usb C though so i might just try the cable i already have with adapter before i rush out to buy another cable.
Using an ADATA hdmi adapter which works great except Warp charge not available and consequently, I am seeing battery drain during use despite being plugged in.
This is the one I am currently using;

Anyone know?

So the device I'm using, the adata, it's usp-pd 2.0 yet it still slowly depletes nevertheless.

Are you using a usb-pd charger? If so then it means it's a fault HDMI adapter with a poor implementation of USB c protocols
Not sure why chose such an expensive adapter. With zero reviews.
Edit: not sure...
It was the only one available from the shop...
Are you guys not experiencing this issues with HDMI adapter?

Did some more reading regarding pd; does the one plus charger downgrade to the 5V3A Standard of Power Delivery if it can't do 30watt warp charge? If it doesn't it would appear that I have yet to test using a pd charger.

No. Usb-pd only works with usb-c at all connection points. You need a charger that has usb-pd.

Anything TUV or UL listed. (TUV is a German company that tests to the UL spec).
Ravpower, Anker, GE, etc...

Thanks, I figured this out, 2.4 amps is not enough, as long as I use a 3.0 amp source my phone charges fine with HDMI in use on my ADATA HDMI Adapter:laugh:
Thanks all!
