Exynos battery life - Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Questions & Answers

So i want to pull the trigger on a note20 ultra, however i am hearing of terrible battery life across the internet and YouTube reviews.
Has the battery life been improved in recent updates? Or is it still the same?

Since the September update ,the battery life increased a little bit, but not satisfying. 6H of SOT !

I get 6 sot. Keep in mind these phones charge really quick!

Ok here is what you can expect on Exynos:
* 4.5- 5 tops if you are either using the camera or making a lot of phone calls
* 5- 5.5hrs with moderate to heavy use but low on calling and clicking pics/videos
* 6- 7.5hrs in 60hz (again depending on how much you use the camera or call)
This is what I have been getting so far for the last 1 month.
Following is my setup:
* Naptime
* Most of apps are put to sleep
* Screen res 720p
* Optimised and adaptive power
* Email set to fetch every 15mins
* Dynamic display app to control per app refresh rate
This is all an average.. once I even crossed 8hrs but that never happened again.

The battery life is just terrible full stop. I returned my one before the September update but any improvements would be minimal anyway.
In 3 weeks of testing it seems a combination of the processor and display causing the power drain issue. The phone is ok (not brilliant) in standby or listening to music with the display off), but as soon as the display is used you can literally watch the battery percentage dropping. Some say to give it a week for the battery to bed in but that is bollocks.
I replaced the N20 ultra with the N10 plus 5g and it works perfectly out of the box. It has a better display and the battery life is fine.
Please just avoid this handset as it has fundamental issues that are hardware based. Look on the Samsung Europe forums as there are plenty of people complaining on there.

You should be satisfied with 6 hours of SOT with a device like this - that is excellent.

Ugh. No thanks - I'd rather throw it on the charger during the day than cripple my apps/phone. That's like creeping along in your Ferrari to get a few more miles per gallon (litres per 100 KM)...

Well your phone your call.
none of the settings really broke anything.. ur apps will automatically go to sleep if you don't use them for a while.. and I recommend not putting apps you use regularly into sleep anyways.
None of these settings really hinder the use of the phone in any way.
All you are doing is riding the ferrari under speed limits knowing very well that you could always crank it up. ?

Fair enough. And a good reply to my cheeky comment...

I've no complaints with my N20 Ultra but has a Snapdragon soc.

Seems pretty awful for a device over £1000??
My s9 battery is terrible, hence the reason for wanting an upgrade. Seems the note is not much of an upgrade on battery life at this present time.

Hahaha!! Probably does miss the Note 20 Ultra.. The people who are returning their phones so quickly didn't even give the phone a chance and set it up correctly and then they assumed after a week that the battery life was sh!tty but after setting mine up correctly and disabling everything I don't need or use and making sure no apps have access to data in the background and making sure they only use resources when they're actually being used at the moment like the browser I'm using right now for instance if I close out of it, it automatically gets put to sleep and can't use data in the background so it doesn't have much of a reason to run after having done all of that and plenty of other things I'm easily getting 10+ hours SOT and even if I didn't get that much time the phone charges so fast that it doesn't even matter and the phone itself has been getting better and better the more I use it and the more it learns my routine.. I say they gave the phone back too quickly and never even tried!!

I sent my Exynos version back due to some possible signal drop outs but the battery was good to give me a days usage with some change left in the tank.
I now own a Snapdragon N20 Ultra and again it gives a days usage with more change left in the battery.
I charge mine overnight no matter whats left % wise and turn it off overnight too.
A good battery saving tip given to me some years ago was to turn off the battery % sign in the phone's status bar so my eyes are not been drawn to it and just enjoy the phone and charge it when it's needed.

The only thing I miss is the 5x zoom on the camera.
You guys in the US get SD which gives 20 percent more battery than Exynos. I tested it for just under 3 weeks so did spend plenty time with it but never got more than 5 hours SOT on any day. I also had reception issues as Bandofbrothers has already mentioned.
The Note 10 plus battery is significantly better, the display is better and I got it for less than half the price of the N20 Ultra brand new so it's a winner all round.

I love the phone. Once the root bugs are worked out ill be happy. But I have a zero lemon case and it has the 5k mah battery. I get about 2 full days with it. In October they are releasing a 10k mah battery pack. Itll be amazing. I don't mind bulk

No problems whatsoever.

I'm running the N986B Exynos version. I had the option of buying N986F (4G version with Exynos which is available officially by samsung in my country), N986B 5G Exynos or N9860 5G Snapdragon (had an option to import both of these). After a lot of thinking, I went for the N986B version because I wanted more 5G bands to be available, rather than extra battery and performance that came with the N9860.
After a few days of use, I was really disappointed with the battery life, and I started to second guess my decision. But after a week of use, the batter life improved significantly. I think after the device learns the usage pattern, the battery life increases significantly. I think people were too quick to judge (like I was), but imo, give the device a little time to settle.
Sorry for the long post, I felt I needed to provide all the details.

Coming from a Huawei P30 Pro. The battery just sucks on the Note 20 Ultra with Exynos. I have to admit that the battery life on the P30 Pro was just stellar.
With the N20U it's like having a battery 40% smaller (5G disabled because of this). Plus VoLTE doesn't work.

so not worth 1200 then?

Advice People

I am stuck between the LG G2 and the Nexus 5. I will buy the phone unlocked. Both are priced the same in my country. I've been to multiple stores and tried the devices.
I really like the nexus 5 but the battery life is main concern.
My daily usage is somewhat like this:
2 hours of offline music (screen off).
30-60 minutes of web browsing
10 minutes of phone calls
30-40 minutes spent on apps like feedly and 9gag and other such apps
Average amount of messaging
Don't click a lot of pictures (1-3 in a day or even none)
Average amount of messaging
Most of the day is spent on wifi
Network signal strength is good. No LTE in my country so I use 3G
Little to no gaming on the phone (1 hour cumulatively in 3-4 days, mostly 2D games)
So can I get about 13-16 hours with this kind of usage? Will android lollipop make things better?
Or should I go for the G2. I know that the battery life is much better. But Personally I don't like the user interface on the G2. Plus I've heard that the bootloader is locked on the G2. I know about the Loki bypass but it has been patched up in the 4.4.2 update so I don't know whether I'll be able to flash a custom rom on the G2. Also I've heard that developers are now reluctant to develop for the G2 because of this?
So please suggest what should I buy. Should I get the nexus 5?
G2 will get lollipop update .... That will change ui to that of g3. ...
Also since ur usage is above moderate ... G2 will be better..... my choice would be g2 it suits ur need better
G2 = bigger battery
N5 = updates
And as said above it will get the g3 ui but i heard somewhere that it apparently lags a lot...
That would be it
I don't think anyone can or should decide which phone you should buy. Looking at your list I think it should best for you to decide what you want most from your phone.
I personally have to charge my N5 once a day, sometime twice depend on the usage.

Than you for your reply, but I figured out that much by reading the spec sheet of the phones. You're stating the obvious. What I really wanted to know is how the nexus performs. Since you are on this thread, I assume that you have a Nexus 5. What I want to know is how does the battery hold up with your usage. Please elaborate on your usage. Will I be able to get a day out of the nexus with my usage?

I agree that I will be the one finally deciding the phone. But I really value you opinions. They will ultimately help me decide. You say you charge you phone once or twice in a day. What is your usage pattern? How many hours do you get out of a single charge? Can I get the usage I mentioned in my first post out of a single charge?

Again. all of this is subjective. Depends on what all apps you've installed and how you've setup your phone. With your usage pattern, it will be slightly difficult for you to pull this off.
The same usage patterns will differ from person to person as it depends on a lot of variables.

I second this! I'm usually around charger at all times so, battery life doesn't really hurt me much. But, when I know I won't be around a charger, I do carry a powerbank in my backpack!
I am currently running the newest android 5.0 dev preview, and since installing it my battery life has improved drastically. And android 5.0 has a battery saving mode that kicks on at 25,20,15,10, or 5 percent, you choose what percent to set that at. I am a power user to the extreme. I really mean extreme. I have nfc and Bluetooth on all the time, on the web multiple hours per day reading and watching videos, on calls for 1 hour per day. I top off the battery on a wireless charging pad for one hour during lunch, and i leave it on a charging pad overnight. And i get by just fine. But everyones usage will very depending on how you use and set your phone up. I would not let battery life determine my decision if i were you. Look at other features, size, feel, etc. Personally ive had a n5 since launch and i wouldn't trade it for anything at this time.
I had the G2 for a long time. While it was a great phone, with awesome battery life, after now getting a nexus 5 I much prefer this phone even if the battery isn't as good. But its all personal preference. I love this nexus 5.

Sorry i answered to quick. The n5 can give you 2 days if you want but this means that you are on a good kernel (stock or elemental) and on a good rom (stock is the best i think). In this 2 days I dont use data much so the phone is mostly on wifi and i get around 5- 6hrs screen on. I dont dimm the screen i leave it on auto mostly and i have it oveclocked to 2.5. I also cover a lot of browsing in tapatalk, reddit and also in chrome (which became a big batt sucker lately but things are improving). So at least 2hrs in these apps. Also around 20min talk time. All the time i am on 2g with a very good sigbal. My conclusion... It should get you through the day np
Regarding android l people are reporting better battery results
And just to clear it even more. Yesterday i flashed the pa beta 6 build (had enough of L) and left it on the charger through the night. I woke up downloaded a 2gb file via wifi reinstalled a lot of missing apps listened to some music for 30min (i use viperfx which drains the batt even more) and in the end of the day i have a 2hr sot with 12hr standby and 54%. The 2hrs were browsing in bacon, chrome and tapatalk. But this is the first cycle and as you know it needs a bit to settle so battery life gets even better. So in a few days i would expect a 2hr and 30min sot time with the same usage as i had today. This would be it. If you got any more questions just ask
have both these phones in my family... if you get the chance put them side by side.... nexus 5 has a yellow screen
i never notice until i mess with my wife's g2, as my eyes accept the whites on my nexus 5 as normal.

I think the yellow screen can be replaced
Imo kernel has a very less effect on battery life.... It solely depends on your usage, network and display brightness..
The Nexus has a battery results thread in the general section. How about checking that out. There's hundreds of members battery times already there to review. ?

Since you don't have LTE in your country and you don't do intensive gaming, you might want to consider the Moto G 2014. The battery life on the Moto G will be better than the Nexus 5, and unlike the G2 the Moto G is unlockable and the software will be up to date for a good long while. It also doesn't hurt that the G is like half the price of the N5.

3 of my friends have the 2014 Moto G. I've used it and I must say I was impressed. But there are two major shortcomings of the phone. First the barely over 4GB of space for apps. With ART being the default runtime in Lollipop, Apps will only get bigger in size. Second is the 1GB RAM which limits the multitasking to a certain extent. Also I do play intensive games on my phone, on weekends or on my days off when I'm at home, so there's that. More importantly I don't know how the Moto G will hold up over the course of 18-24 months
If someone has no interest in big graphics games, or any CPU intensive activities... And doesn't care about having the "best" phone out there..... The G seems like the best bang for your buck deal out there. ?

Very happy with SOT/battery life!

How are you managing 5-6 hours screen on time on mobile data and what are you doing? Nobody gets that without some serious tweaking and the screen brightness basically off... 5 hours of continuous use on WiFi maybe, maybe, but not on mobile data.

Its all true. I put this phone through a lot too. I've themed

I never noticed that "average" feature on GSM, but upon looking at mine, I am averaging 2:31. Yikes! I use xposed, Ambient display, and some other screen things like f.lux though. Not sure how to quantify the difference.
But to the OPs point about rebooting 10 times a day..I sometimes lose 7-8% of battery when I reboot so this is even harder to believe.

I'm going to try the CPU settings you have and see if it makes any difference for me.
Haven't had the device that long but I'm around 7 hrs SOT. No problems hitting 6 hrs.
Non-rooted, basic setup, sync on, data on all the time though I'm in a terrible area for T-Mobile so I've set it to 3g lately..... Most battery lost browsing the web. No WiFi.
Since I don't get a lot of notifications, or spend a lot of time on the phone or have social apps = good battery life.
I've got over 9 hrs SOT with my LG optimus g pro rooted and locked down. Easy 7.5 on that phone no matter what.
Got 9 hrs using my neighbour's Moto G4 Plus.

There is just no possible way this is true. SOT (screen on time) is not the same as the time it takes the phone to die after you pull it off the charger. Even the Nexus 6p has an average of like 6 hours SOT and it's got an extra 450mAh. Right now I'm running this phone totally stock unrooted without many apps and my SOT varies from 2-3 hours. Back when I was rooted and spent a lot of time doing battery related tweaks (which also happen to kill a lot of funtionality) I could get just over 4 hours. My sister in law has a G4 (non plus) and averages 3-3.5 hours SOT.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/review/screen-time-t3239509
Always over 5 hours sot but it's not enough, I had a LG g2 and could get 7+ sot but that was only a 1080p screen, if Moto had chosen a 1080p amoled screen this phone would of been unbeatable.

I can honestly say 5+ hours SOT is possible. However, I achieved that with airplane mode on for a few hours and was reading a Kindle book with about 35% brightness, white text on black background. This requires little processing power and minimal touch interaction. On a regular day 3-4 hours is norm and this is checking emails, reading forums and news, reading some on Kindle, and about half of a day on 3g (not LTE). I don't get many emails, texts, or calls, so notifications are at a minimal (I have Moto display on). I also use Google now to track weather, traffic, packages, etc and have both Google and Moto voice off (just can't justify it when the mic button is just a tap). I just cannot see the SOT time you are claiming, especially if you are not rooted and heavily tweaked. I'm happy with my set up though and would not cripple my phone in the name of battery life.

I'm wondering if we should be considering the quality of the batteries being put into our devices. Look what got past the QC inspectors at Samsung's manufacturer. Makes me wonder how well they control their processes and how low a level of quality are they willing to ship out their door. Hmm...

How? I can only get 2:30 of screen, if I use it a lot, 3h...
Screen brightness is the key... The display panel is what takes most of the battery, if you turn off auto brightness and turn the brightness down to near zero you will get much higher more battery life.
The real problem with this device isn't the battery, it's the display panel (in regards to battery life).

My N6P is currently in the "shop", I got the dreaded boot loop of death. While I wait for it to come back, I've been enjoying the MXPE, excellent phone. I just wanted to add my comment to the N6P getting 6 hours of SOT. I bought it new in Dec. 15 from Google and the very very best SOT is around 3.5 hours. I'm a medium user I would say; email, messaging, web, some social media. I've tried most of the N6P roms and kernels and maybe with Franko's kernel I eked out a bit more, but never got more then 4 hours and that was rare. I generally have my display turned way down, turn off notifications except for messaging, phone, greenify. Nougat was better then MM, but not much.
So far the battery on the MXPE is pretty on par with the 6P for me.
The OP of this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3249458
does pretty much exactly what I've always done, and the battery life is within 30 minutes of mine, I'm currently not rooted and can't disable as many continuously running background apps.
I've always cringed when I would read reviews and people on here about SOT whenever I was considering buying a device. But each person's way of using the device is unique -- one bad app can kill SOT, even using chrome as your main browser will put a big dent in it.
I would say, other than data being on always instead of on WiFi, I use my device like I've always used a pc or tablet.....
If I was only getting 3 hrs SOT I would only look at devices I could get an extended battery case for OR I would be tied to an outlet.
Nonetheless, 6+ hrs SOT is possible for this device -- regardless of what anyone wants to *believe* is possible

Battery on the regular Note 10

I know its too early to tell yet, but id be really interested to hear how the battery is fairing up, I have the S10+ atm and really like the smaller Notes form factor, seems the perfect size for me. Ive compared my phone to the Note and it does feel like a downgrade in a few area's, but yeh really interested in the battery really. Thanks.

Battery life is mediocre at most, maybe 1 full day with medium use, nothing exceptional.
Yea I bought it. Was expecting a little more from it battery. I knew this would be an issue going into it but did t realize it would be so bare minimum.
I purchased the regular Note 10. I'm only on day 3. I'm happy with the battery life. The 1st day I used it I got between 5.5-6 hours SOT and that was mostly WiFi. I charged it and took it off the charger at 2am to see how it drained overnight. I woke up and it was at 95% after being idle for 7 hours. I went to work with the phone and my stats from yesterday was 4.5 SOT with almost 24 hours being off the charger.
I think I use the phone pretty regular. Most of my user is from YouTube and Netflix. With yesterday's use I watched the 1st half of the Jets vs Saints.
So far I think its a little better then Pixel 3. Thanks to my recent increased use and Pixel 3 I started freaking out and plugging in charger all the time, need to go back to normal use where you unplug in the morning and plug back in before bedtime.
Here are some screen shots of my user of the regular Note 10. I'm at almost 16 hours off the charger. It's 9:20pm here. The battery life is better than my S10. I'm going on vacation tomorrow, depending how the photos are for me trip will determine if this phone is a keeper. So far I'm happy.
Thanks for everyone's replies, I'll wait a bit until I bite the bullet and thats if I do. I'm happy with the s10+ battery, obviously it won't be as good as that but I'll wait to hear more info on it. Cheers.

Here is a comparison with mixed usage on both Notes https://youtu.be/IrX0rp_Bnbw
Iam feeling the same way. I have pulled the trigger on the plus model mainly because i got it at a good price, and for the bigger battery plus i kinda feel that it's the real note 10 and the smaller version just seems like a downgrade.
Iam having some regrets now though after handling both in person. I just much prefer the size of the smaller note 10 and iam telling myself that the battery should be good enough to last a full day which is all we need really. Expandable storage isn't an issue as 256gb is more then enough for most users (certainly for me)
Iam now tempted to return my plus model when it arrives even though deep down i love that on paper it's technically the superior device. I wish the smaller note had a bigger battery, quad HD screen and the depth sensing camera.
If they had of just made one model somewhere in the middle in terms of size with maybe a 6.5 screen it would have been perfect but oh well.
It's ironic too that most ppl love the idea of a bigger screen but how many of us actually take advantage of that and make use of it. Most of us use our phones to communicate with each other so why do we even need bigger screens? Nice to look at but that's kinda it or am i wrong?

Ehh media consumption? Many people play games too.
Well I couldn't wait any longer and have the regular Note 10 coming tomorrow. I still have my S10+. I just hope the battery doesn't spoil it for me. With my S10+ I never worry about the battery because its never let me down. But I love the size of the Note 10. Like alot of people have said its just a shame they had to strip it down so much compared to the Note 10 plus. Anyway I have 14 days to compare. I'm really excited to see how i get on, hope its not a let down. If it is then I'll wait on the S11 or even the next huawei phone. I had the Huawei Mate 20 pro just before the S10+ and it was great phone. I think I just like to try new things.
Best I've got yet
Image didn't show but it was
6hrs 21min SOT
14hr 8min on battery
That's not too shabby

What i mean is that there are a lot of people that crave a bigger screen but dont even take advantage of it when they have it! Some people dont need a bigger screen but want it anyway imo!

I don't have an image to post but I have gotten similar SOT and standby battery life as you have. I've been able to nearly squeeze 6.5 hours of SOT and got over 24 hours of standby time. I would get better if I didn't keep locations services on full blast all the time plus I have a few survey apps running at all times which also use location/data services so that dings my battery. If you aren't using those things it'll likely be even better. I am totally fine with this battery life.

Wow that's great. I keep Bluetooth active for my gear s3 but not location. What kind of settings are you using?
I have an exynos standard note and like the S10/S10+ before it I would describe battery as acceptable but IMO below par. What bugs me is that it drops at quite a steady rate just sitting there doing nothing, goes from 100 to 99% within a few minutes of coming off charge and continues on from there.
Overall on my Note 10 exynos, the battery is really good. You have to put apps you dont want running in the background to sleep.
AOD I set to tap to show + aodNotify app to wake it up with incoming notifications + edge lighting. Power savings mode when at 50%. Mostly on wifi, no gaming and some light youtube usage.

Exynos N985F Dismal Battery Life (< 3Hr SoT)

I upgraded from my SD S10 to Note 20 Ultra Dual Sim Exynos couple weeks ago and Im getting dismal battery performance with about 2h35 to 3h15 of SoT, and I noticed the standby drain is pretty bad.
Before judging me: Yes I am fully aware of the whole Exynos 990 v Snapdragon thing, but because I couldnt get my hand on a dual sim N20U with SD so I settled with the exynos version, which I have seen people claiming getting about 5 hours of SoT vs. over 6 hours of SoT on the SD, and I would totally happy with 5 hr considering my usage. But barely getting over 3 hours of SoT is just plain stupid considering the price I paid for it.
I love everything else on the N20U, but having to carry around a power bank all the time is really annoying. Is anyone experiencing the same issue and any luck on fixing this? I am not sure if it is a software issue.
P/S: I attached a couple of screenshots for Battery Usage and Gsam Battery report. I did just reset my phone yesterday to see if the performance improves, no luck. I also did all the battery optimization settings + limit all background usage on all unnecessary app, including facebook and other social media apps..
I have the same phone, and i have the same problems... 2-3 Sot maximum. And i hate it.
If i turn off adaptive screen, turn down to minimal resolution and turn on battery saving only the standby drain gets better. The sot stays the same.
Every unnecessary app is in deep sleep, so nothing much more that I can do.
But if you find something out for a solution please share.
Until then I have to carry a powerbank also.
I considered to sell it and buy a pixel 5 , but the Note20U price dropped brutally, so it would be a waste to sell it.

I dont know how are people claiming 5 hours of SoT for the Exynos version. I realized most of the claims were made back when it was running One UI 2.5. Not much reviews on battery life on One UI 3 so I am thinking it is software-related. Waiting for samsung to release 3.1 for N20U.
I use the phone to take notes a lot since I am on the go most of the time. I also do some recreational video editing on the phone and it is serving me well. It is unfortunate that the battery is performing like ****
Main is remaining for more than 10 hours of SOT without playing games, 7 to 8 hours while heavy gaming

Are you on Exynos and on One UI 3? And I noticed you have power saving on, do you leave it on all the time and what are the settings?
Much appreciated

Yes it's Exynos android 11 UI3, most of the time on power saving mode, usual settings nothing new screen always 60hrz, window animation .5, apps not in regulars use always on sleeping mode, stop Sync but need apps, stop receiving notification but for used apps, using ad block, standard display mode, wifi throttling, multicore packet schedule and other option can reduce battery consumption
Stop using third party apps speacialy for system tweaks after that use battery calibration to get the best battery consumption, screen shot taken just now
4g owners, is there solution for root android 11?
Anyone done?
After a month of using the note 20 ultra 4G exynos 990, I decided to swap it for a 5G snapdragon 865+ version. Got a good deal for trading in my 4G so I pulled the trigger.
Same exact app setup and usage, minimal battery saving tweaking => I managed to get 5+ hours of SoT right out of the bat! One UI 3.0. That's a whole 2 extra hours of SoT on the first day of usage and I believe it's gonna get better over time.

General Battery life underperforming?

I upgraded to the S22 Ultra from an S20 FE 5G.
Is it normal to burn through 30% battery use with an hour and 30 mins of screen on time primarily scrolling through old FB messages on messenger, and friends lists (no videos, few photos). Brightness was at 25%. Extra dim is on, extra brightness is off. WQHD+ on. Adaptive motion smoothness on.
It feels like this phone burns through the battery much much faster than my S20 FE.
Switched over to tiktok and was on it for 4 minutes with the same settings. I went from 40% to 36% in just 4 mins.
There are other threads that address this same topic. Battery life is something that with these new devices take a while to get "to the point". Battery and system need about a week to learn your usage pattern and determine how to distribute power (as I have read). I got my device yesterday and it's still to early to issue an honest opinion on the battery life, I don't complaint at this moment as I know it will take a while for this to "calibrate" to my usage and needs.
btw TikTok will always drain more battery as you are basically streaming video on a huge ass screen so it is a power consuming task.
I find battery life generally poor to awful. I'm on 5th day. No change. No draining apps. Nothing unusual.
Same with me. Got my device on Monday.. now im finally seeing how much usage i will get on a full charge.
100% - 17hrs remaining. Sigh.
That March update needs to come quickly. Most of us had this same issue last year with the s21 ultra when it launched.

It doesn't take a week. It takes 2-3 days to learn patterns. Or are you saying after it learns your patterns it takes a few additional days. My s22 ultra stopped giving me the learning patterns message after two days, and it predicted I would have 17 hours of battery life. I ended up having about 12. The battery life on this phone is abysmal. I had atleast a day on the s21 ultra. Even the people showing high amounts of screen on time, are only getting about 18 hours. That is not a day, that's still short 6 hours. Something is seriously long with the battery consumption. Oh, and I have a snapdragon which is supposed to be better, but clearly snapdragon has done a terrible job with this year's chip as far as heat and battery efficiency.
Most people require 6-8 hours of sleep to function in the real world so 18 hours battery life will satisfy 95% of users.

Based on past experiences (N20U and S21U) after it "learned" it still worked on optimizing performance. I have not experienced heating issues on Snapdragon S22U. Battery is not bad, could be better of course, but then again, I think it matches S21U in how much it lasts.

Fair enough, but why are we making excuses for Samsung. I've had an s7 edge, an S10 plus, and S20 ultra, and S21 Ultra and now this one. All of those versions were exynos which were worse than Snapdragon on battery life, and all gave me over a day of battery life.
Are we seriously giving Samsung a pass because a person doesn't stay up for 18 hours?
As I mentioned mine isn't even that high. After learning patterns, mine said 18 hours. I ended up getting 12 hours on that day. Inexusable. This is a snapdragon variant that I have.

I'm not giving it a pass at all as I havent received mine yet. However if I find it's performance unacceptable I'll simply return it for refund and get on with my life.
If you optimize it, it is the same.
Go to app info and set apps as restricted battery usage.
Also turn off apps on Usage Data Access.
Change to LTE if you are on wifi at home, set a routine.

Good point, Samsung stated the 4nm chipset improved "efficiency" by 30% which implies battery life would improve significantly. Samsung's touted a number of specs for the S22 which have failed to materialize.
In my experience with Samsung phone's I find that even after the initial learning phase has concluded the battery tends to drop pretty fast from 100% to around 75% and then stabilises.

My battery underperformed after I updated to April ... now I've applied the May update so let's see how it goes.
Snapdragon btw.
I have big problems with battery..In the first 2 weeks it was fine, but after those 2 weeks the battery life it's awful..Can't get more than 5h SOT even with social media apps uninstalled, I'm starting to hate this phone, it's worse than my ex S20+
Exynos 256gb last April update
