Simple Way to Protect Folders?

Hi all
just a quick question does anyone know of a simple app that will allow me to password protect a folder(s) on the PDA WM5.
I dont want nothing fancy, no encryption, no other features other than when someone tries to open a folder they must enter a password.
I have tried looking arround and all i can find are encryption/security software, not just the simple app that I'm looking for

Secret porn stash?
I wish, my company is going to deploy Universals to the workforce and i want to be able to lock certain folders ie settings etc so they dont mess and end up buggering them up
If you don't find what you are looking for and decide an encrypter is the next best thing, I can recommend Airscanner Mobile Encrypter, which you can pick up for free.
Hi FOZZER!
If you are looking to protect device settings, blocking folders really isn't the way to go.
1st settings isn't a real folder. Yes there is such a folder under windows\start menu but it is usually empty. The contents you see in 'settings' is compiled automatically by windows from cpl files and such, just like 'control panel' on the PC.
If I remember correctly, if you delete the the settings folder, it will disappear from start menu and average user won't be able to access device settings.
To make things harder you can delete the link to file explorer so people will be less likely to mess with the device.
There is a thread here somewhere about doing just this sort of things. Try searching for 'kiosk' and not just this site.

How to edit wpa_supplicant.conf ?

To use wifi at school I have to wpa corporate + TTLS etc, and g-tablet does not support that. In one of the earlier post one person suggested that I use "wifi advanced configuration editor", but the secured signal does not show up so there is nothing for me to edit. I tried to manually add the wifi connection via "setting" but I can't.
I know what wpa_supplicant.conf looks like on my Pandigital Novel; if I could edit this file on my g-tablet then I should be okay, right? Any suggestions on how to do this editing? (sheepishly looking at my back) I still can't get ADB working with my g-tab, and in any case I assume there would be issue with permission...
Thanks!
if you can get root you can use root explorer to turn R/W access on to the conf file in /data/misc/wifi and edit the conf in text editor. You may be asking for more but that is where I was editing mine to get ad-hoc mode on. Sorry I dont know the exact settings to tell you to make the actual edits.

Add it using the normal Android tool, assuming it's hidden? Anyway, then modify it with the WiFi Advanced Config Editor. It's always possible the firmware here isn't working well with that app, but if it's a hidden AP you might need to manually add, then edit.

By "normal android tool" I assume you mean "setting" -- that's what I used on the pandigital novel anything. But as I said in the OP, g-tablet does not allow me to manually add an entry, so I can't use the wifi config editor :-( I also tried the app "full wifi" but I (rather, g-tablet) does not seem to be able to save the connection so created.
I'll look into root explorer as mentioned in post #2 and see how it goes... If you have better/different ideas please do share it with us!

[Q] XfinityToGo for Nexus 5 to work without WIFI?

I haven't really found much on this so I'm willing to spend a day on it. I pulled a copy of the most recent APK for it and figured if I edit the XML file and removed the permissions for WIFI maybe it will work. So unless someone has already tried that wish me luck..:good:

I need an app that instantly saves wifi passwords

I'm planning to make my friend log into his wifi on my mobile and then click "forget" to forget it, is there an app that saves the password secretly and stores it somewhere and keeps if even if it's forgotten?
I won't use it for harmful purposes, and I'm not stealing his wifi, I just wanted to pull off a prank on him and pretend that I hacked his wifi.
Thank you.
i think this information is not possible on this site... try somewhere else

Hey,the stuff that you are looking is not here. Google it or go to Play store you surely would find there.
Kinda
I am not sure about the "forget" part but android saves password in the system. So obviously you would need root excess to your phone.
You can find it manually by using a file explorer with root capabilities by opening the file "wpa_supplicant.conf" in /data/misc/wifi/
This is the easiest way to access those saved passwords.
So for your "prank" you could first a gain access to his Wifi, view the password in the file, and then forget it, because am not sure whether that file saves the passwords once forgotten. You could try test it though with your own Wifi.
Hope this helps and let me know whether it works.

[SM-J727P]-[ROOTED_RA1]WORKING_ON_HOTSPOT. Help_is_appreciated!!!!

The apn type and adding dun to it use to work.... I made a thread on it about a year ago. I'm still able to get my msl code but all the apns are greyed out and you can't edit any of them now. It was great having a working HOTSPOT!
With that said.........
So far I have found the apn-conf.xml in the /system folder. I can edit and save with no problem...... now in that file at the top it say it must match the res/common/xml/apn.xml or something very similar to that.
It took me awhile to find this file but I have FOUND IT!!! (If you use apk editor and select the 2nd option to view system files/apks). Look for servicemode.apk and browse that .apk, in the /res/xml folder you will find the apns.xml file!!! I found a few good files like apn-editor.xml and apn-settings.xml in the settings apk.
I downloaded APK Editor in the play store and started poking around. The file is a system all called servicemode.apk, if you decompile the file and check the res folder and look in the xml folder TADA, YOU WILL FIND THE APNS.XML file....... so that's as far as I have got. When viewing this APN.XML file I can't figure out how to edit it to match the system/apns-conf.xml file.
Now in the apk editor you can view the strings or files..... I used the file option and looked at all the strings..... they can be edited.
ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED! I looked thru the settings and service mode til all also so I'm getting confused and maybe a fresh pair of eyes and a clear mind can help figure this out. I been trying along time now!
Ben trying to upload my screen shot but no luck....... when I get to my laptop I will surely upload them...... with root explorer I all found the apk modemservicemode.apk in system/priv-app which contains a apn.xml file also...... PLEASE ALL HELP IS GREAT.
Am I on to something here or not? Wasting my time??? Let me kno what you think
Anyone find a way around to making the HOTSPOT unlimited??? I'm on a tight income and would love to be able to watch Netflix and use my Chromecast but can't afford cable and internet at the moment. I know boost has the 8gig hotspot already and a promo for a 20gig HOTSPOT but having a 11 year old son playing Xbox one online constantly....... don't last long. In my first HOTSPOT thread it was so simple just adding dun. I have a month to month plan 60$ just to be specific for others. I do believe min phones and pay as you go might be different. I can only speak for me and my device. Please any insight on these apn files that I been finding is GREATLY APPRECIATED!
Just want to throw you a thanks for trying to get the hotspot figured out... I've been looking all over the place to try to find someone that has it working with no luck... So again, THANK YOU for getting started on trying to make the J727P hotspot available... Keep up the good work and I have faith in you my dude... I'm sure someone can get this figured out...
