Change the System Font to a Custom Font - Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 Questions & Answers

So I know that I can download Fonts from the Samsung Store, but they are all fugly as hell. On my S9+, I used GxFonts to install Custom Fonts (the Windows 10 Bahnschrift, to be exact), but it doesn't work anymore on the Z Fold 2 because I see many blame "Foundation" for it on newer Galaxy devices. Is there a new way to install Custom Fonts on the System? It is ridiculous that Samsung devices can be so heavily customized in so many ways, but it is completely impossible to install a custom .TTF font.

This works:

Found that one earlier too, but it doesn't allow me to install the Fonts that I personally want like Bahnschrift. I am looking for a way on how I can install the .TTF files directly.

Thanks for link.. Got a few fonts I like in that zip...

Install New Fonts to read books / without Root

I am trying to add more fonts, popular microsoft word fonts, and read books with those fonts. I use fbreader app for reading books and the font choice is very limited as is. Can anyone show how to add fonts without rooting the device? Galaxy tab 2 7 Android ice cream sandwich
Decompile the fbreader.apk , change fonts.( Thats if it uses a custom font and is included in the .apk) Recompile / sign , Push to device.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1633333
Why not just root and use a custom App to change fonts ( ROM ToolBox Pro for example)? Much easier IMO , but up to you as its your device
Read the link below , VERY cool app and most of us have used it and had no problems. Makes your device all "new" in case of warranty issues.

Edit : Is it a free App ? Post a link and I will see if the fonts can be changed

Thanks Sean....Is what a free App?
I heard that fbreader uses whatever fonts thats already on the system?
Sorry I meant is fbreader a free app. Tried to download it via the play store and it says its incompatible with my tab ? SGT2 3110.
Pretty sure you will need root access to alter font settings. If it was in the fbreader.apk I could change them to what ever you wanted. If it uses stock fonts , You would have to change the system font it uses ( just swap the fonts over keeping the same font name so they are referenced in the system )and that would be a system wide change, kinda gets tricky messing with stuff, fun....but tricky
You could , If you had root , decompile system./framework apks and reference new fonts to use. You will need some tools to do this ( All free ) and some knowledge of editing .xml with something like notepad++.
lol Sometimes the easiest way is the best way .......
Can I use my own fonts with FBReader?
Yes. Put your *.ttf and/or *.otf files into Fonts directory on the memory card. Then new fonts will be available in Text section of the preferences dialog.

Fonts on the S4

Hello,
I usually have no problems with fonts on Samsung devices. On S3 and N2, it was flawless but on my S4 (I9500) whenever i set any flipfont it says "The font is not available". Anybody has the same problem and hopefully solution?
Regards
Karim
Yes, same here. Not all fonts will work on the device. In a matter of fact the only fonts that will work, are the stock once.
That is not because of S4, but because of Android 4.2.2..
We've been coming up with different scenarios on how to get this to work. One dev made a Font APK Creator (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2251745). It's works great & does what it should, but for some reason Jelly Bean won't allow custom fonts. I've tried installing fonts through system/font & that was a no go. The only "custom" fonts that seem to work are the fonts purchased from the Play Store. Cross your fingers the devs figure this out :fingers-crossed:
Try the Apps Ifont. it had just updated and its work on S4
Hi,
Same problem for me except with fonts I bought on the Play Store or this one Working fine ^^

Worked for me, thanks!
Anyone have a Holo font by any chance?!? I *hate* the GS4 standard font, it's huge. I've change to Tahoma for right now, but to get the System fonts (e.g. those that show in Notifications) small enough, I have to use "Tiny" which is too small for the rest of the applications.

Just wanted to say that iFont did not work on my S4 (SGH-I337). I downloaded and set and set a new font. It requested superuser access and I granted it. Supposedly, it should have changed instantly, but didn't, so I rebooted the phone. The only thing that happened was notifications started coming through for the past 2 days and my current font (Rosemary) was changed to a plain, no style font, but still set to Rosemary. I uninstalled the app, changed the system font to Choco, then back to Rosemary and rebooted back to normal. I can't recommend iFont for this model.
iFont works like a charm. Thanks!

I'm not so sure about that really. Just read this: http://tinyurl.com/dysfukk
So for those of you that have installed iFont, uninstall it asap.
Edit: I see that there is another app that is called 'iFont' on Play Store. So the iFont you are talking about might not be the spyware.
But correct me if i'm wrong.
ifont
it worked on S4 and best font style is ubunto
Ifont does NOT work on my i9505 !
i use ifont , works perfectly , S4 i9500
I tried ifont on rooted S4 and it did not work at all. Luckily,I have found a way around this problem.
[Try this on your risk and I am not responsible for any damage that happens to your device.]
1. You will need to make nandroid backup of the rom, and this is a very important step, so don't skip it.
2. Download and install a root font installer like font changer [ free version will do ] or font installer from Play Store.
3. Open the app and apply the custom font,
4. Don't choose reboot [ You will not be able to boot the ROM]. Instead, boot to recovery.
5. Choose advance restore and choose system.
6. After restoring the system, the rom will boot normally.
7. You will notice that the font has changed.
hey guys take THIS it´s absolutly easy!!!!
argh I got an update on my s4 now ifont won't work due to some security update policy

Custom font after MM update

Hi! I just update my S6 to MM, but i'm not able to set a custom font anymore. With Lollipop i was able to install a custom font with IFont and apply it from screen settings. Now IFont still can install the font, but once you try to apply from settings, it says that it's not supported and it asks if you want to unistall it. Any advice/tip (phone isn't rooted, i don't want to root it)?
Thanks in advance
I have same issue but with Lollipop I hope someone can help us

Hi, I had the same issue. I solved it by downloading the fonts I wanted separately on Google. I then used ifont (my/my font section) to set the fonts. It worked perfectly. Hope this helps.
... don't work.
Same issue here. I just received the 6.0.1 update for my S6 Edge & I'm having the same issue. The update before this (security update for 5.1.1) iFont stopped working for me, so I tried HiFont and that worked. But now I've installed this latest update (Marshmallow 6.0.1) & neither iFont or HiFont work.
Same here. You know, I wouldn't even mind buying the fonts from Samsung's store if at least they got the fonts I want.
If rooted i' ve made something for fonts in MM6

I'm having the same issue as well, after the upgrade to marshmallow. Both ifont and Hifont do not work. The reviews for the apps reflect this, but mostly S7 users complaining.
Anyone notice that you can't disable the stock fonts using package disabler anymore?

The latest iFont has a workaround for this. I'm happily back to my custom font
Was sad that I couldn't install Roboto light after mm and iFont didn't seem to show it anywhere.
In Device, system, fonts, saw a lot of ttf including roboto light ttf. Put the ttf in Custom folder of iFont. Got iFont Donate version. Put it to Samsung mode, went to My Fonts section and successfully installed Roboto Light font again. All this on stock unrooted.
@episode96 bro what's the work around ..?I have latest ifont still not able to change font stock note 5 mm..
Your ifont fix is mostly covered by this.damn ad.screen that's trying to ruin any patience I have left....what new ifont workaround are you referring to? Thanks in advance for repeating for me
Me too ive been trying all sorts of fonts, flipfonts hi font ifont and it doesnt not how can we fix this?

In iFont, put it to Samsung mode and it should apply most of the fonts available. If you want a specific font which is not available, use iFont donate version!
This method isn't working for me. Still getting unsupported font.

It doesn't work with all fonts. Try the fonts located in the internal memory of the device like I mentioned above. You can also keep trying other fonts in iFonts. Try changing modes of installation..
Otherwise root is the only solution!

[ZIP][4.0+] Updated Emoji & Google Keyboard from Android N Preview 2

Whats up fellas.
Lets go straight to the point. Here are the new emoji found in Android N Preview 2. I've included an updated Google Keyboard as a bonus. This keyboard was extracted from a Nexus 6 (not 6P!) factory image, so it's for 32-bit devices only.
Uninstall any previous Google Keyboard version (modded or not) before flashing this zip.
If you want just the emoji, then flash the "EmojiOnly" zip.
Disclaimer: You're flashing these files at your own risk. I'll not take any responsibility if something goes awry. Your destiny is your own. So just in case... BACK. UP. YOUR. SYSTEM. PARTITION.
Bugs:
- Some of the emoji don't display properly in the keyboard.
Note: Looks like the guys at Gadget Hacks were faster than me. Try their emoji zip if mine doesn't work, lol.

I'll try. No promises though. It'll probably take forever to upload (slow internet -.-).
But hey, at least the Google apps (excluding the keyboard and possibly some other core apps) are deodexed.
Edit: But do you guys need everything (EVERYTHING!) in /system or you need only app, framework, and priv-app?

Launcher
Hi all men, is it possible to have the new stock launcher? (Now some icons changed ((DEV 2)))
Hi! Thanks a lot for the emojis, but I've noticed in the zip that apart from the "notocoloremoji" font file (which is apparently the emojis) there are also 4 other "notoserif" fonts. Are they needed?
I deleted them from the fonts system folder and there is no issue with the emojis. Maybe you should exclude them from the zip.

A previous emoji updater zip i had here also changed the notoserif fonts (it came from 6.0.1). I believe these fonts are somehow related to the emoji, but i'm not 100% sure.

Custom TTF Flip Fonts

Can we make these yet? I tried a few times with signing both the font and the apk but Samsung settings keeps rejecting it.
Curious if anyone has figured out a working method yet? Possibly with an RRO theme, edit the default fonts?
Edit: I remember seeing that Samsung themes can inherit a TTF as a font, but this means we can't use another theme with it. So I am thinking RROs.
I with I knew how to do this. I have been researching for days ..

I don't know the exact meaning, but that's the only type of font Samsung allows you to install and use.
I guess it's like a regular .ttf file with some modifications - again, I don't really know.
All I know is that FlipFont make us all suffer. I wish Samsung knew how to treat customers. This is Android, not iOS - why locking us?
I'm using these on my s8, with both a Samsung theme and a Substratum theme https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=72112717&postcount=24
If we are talking about regular ttf fonts, I'm using the San Francisco font which I pulled out of apples macos installer
