Hi there...although the introduction of wireless desktop mode is a useful feature, I noticed that connecting an USB cable to a standard monitor (or to a TV that doesn't support mirroring) no longer activates the desktop mode, differently from the Mate 20 series that supports both ways (wired & wireless) - anyone with similar experience? Is there a way to activate desktop mode via USB? Thanks!
Did anyone ever find out if this works?
Hi, has anyone tried to make Huawei Desktop mode to work with Samsung DeX station? I needed a USB hub to hock up my keyboard and mouse along with my TV via HDMI.
And I happen to have the DeX station for my work phone, Samsung S8+.
BTW, does anyone know how to make Huawei Desktop mode to work with Windows laptop like the way Samsung DeX for pc works?
Huawei Desktop Mode works fine from the P40 Pro via from USB-C hub (with HDMI, ethernet, USB ports) to my monitor 2560x1440
Unfortunately there are no resolution settings with the Huawei Desktop .. but there are resolution settings with Dex
I do not have a Dex Station to test.
I am not sure about Huawei Desktop on a laptop.

Thanks for your feedback, I may get myself a USB-C Hub to try it out then. Any recommendation?
BTW, I did try out my P40 Pro on the DeX, and it worked albeit not 100% perfect. The sound output to TV was muffed to a tiny volume by default. By toggling it between Auto and Mobile phone to Display device mode managed to bring back the volume to normal.
Here's a few screen shots while testing it:

I would research on amazon and find a USB-C hub that supports Dex .. then you should be ok for it to work with Huawei Desktop Mode.
I bought x3 and luckily x1 was successful.
is their any way that we can extract the dex mode apk from huawei?? i am sure it will also work on my phone if it one out so can y guys see for any apps which u may think is responsible for dex mode experience on huawei phone, u can use https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.olalab.appbackup this app to take backup of that app and share...
I intend to use my POCO X3 Pro as desktop. I would like to
a) connect external display monitor using some USB-C to HDMI cable or dongle
b) use keyboard and mouse (ideally wired but can use Bluetooth as well)
Does POCO X3 Pro on MIUI 12.5 support desktop mode? Any mods required ? Any recommendation for dock ?

Is there any app that changes the screen resolution/design to something more suitable for desktop operations e.g. something similar to Samsung DEX ?

reportedly in the work but then again don't keep your hopes up that soon because it was teased for flagship devices and the chances that it would be ported to this phone is likely but lengthy
You can buy a usb-C dock, I've seen them for like 50Euro/$. If doesn't work just return.
I think video output will not work because we have USB 2 and not USB 3.
I've tried it in the past with a Honor View 10(USB 2-didn't work) and with a Mate 10 pro(USB 3- worked fine). Same chipset but different USB versions.
LE: desktop mode worked with wifi display though.

This is casting via cable for any android devices without hdmi out.
Eta Price was recommending and testing on his channel.
I was testing it too and work perfectly with Poco X3 Pro, Huawei Matepad 10.4 Wifi 6 Kirin 820 and few another devices

USB-C HDMI support is only available on devices that support USB Type C 3.1 protocol, which unfortunately is not supported by any Xiaomi smartphones. I've researched about it because that's a functionality that I really want on my next smartphone.

This mirrors devices screen like show ETA Prime in his dedicated video.
@daeds for fully wired setup, you can try using usb type C hub + usb type a to hdmi Displaylink adapter and your mouse and keyboard plugged into it, as well as power. I didn't test it, but it should for work, although display resolution and latency will be limited due to slow usb2.0 bus. Poco X3 Pro doesn't support neither DisplayPort over type C nor MHL for better and more straightforwards experience, sadly.
What about this ?
I wish the demo phone language was English! I could not understand it completely.
Now I am
1- using Chromecast to connect display to desktop monitor
2- using Bluetooth to connect keyboard and mouse
Basically just need software to change screen Resolution, PPI and change interface to more desktop like.
Try scrcpy
You're welcome
then can someone explain me this on the developer options??

because this guy uses a normal type c to hdmi and used the developer options-> force desktop mode
Also, as variant you can use Displaylink Interface. I bought "cable creation usb 3 to hdmi converter" + "type-c hub with charging"
After a long time of absence I want to share with All Of You my way to use Our phone on external display.
First of all, my specs:
- Poco X3 Pro vayu 6/128
- 12.5.5.0 RJUEUXM
- Locked bootloader
- over half year of intense usage
I'm familiar with modding/rooting/flashing android phones since Galaxy S1 SGS, so I know a lot, but not everything I tried to mirror many phones on tv/monitors and only two of them worked "successfully", and now at last my Poco is working too. But... Not as I've expected. That's because I'm not rich enough to buy every cable/dock/adapter to test. So (after deep learning on web) I ordered to my favorite shop about 6-7 different cables similar to what I saw in movies and articles, and tested them before I buy the proper one. None of them worked - always the same "NO SIGNAL". Of course I did everything exactly as in guides many times with every adapter. Finally I decided to order one from China - one that worked flawlessly on every video guide I've found. But surprisingly my friend brought me his cable but not working with his phone. And after almost one hour of fighting with every settings and apps.... "finally!!!". At last I can play on big screen.
Happy for now, but I need the cable from those guides, because there's the same problem as I had with my Xperia Z3 (which has support for mhl/HDMI). The resolution is FullHD 1920x1080 60Hz as it should be, but the quality of display is way worse than on phone, and it doesn't send sound to display (need to listen from phone, thru speakers or headphones. Displaying is simultaneous on the phone and on tv/monitor at the same time. And it looks perfect on phone , but worse on external display. You can see it by Yourself. There's no way to improve it. That's why I need that cable from video guide because it doesn't need any app to start casting screen, and it displays with perfect quality on full display without resizeing. Even sound is perfect.
But for know I need to play with my friends cable. Here are photos and specs of it.
UNITEK - Mobile to HDMI Display Cable
M101AWH
I attached HDMI to external display, USB-male to my Poco's charger, USB-female to my Poco's usb-c cable, and lastly usb-c to my phone.
USB debugging ON, force desktop mode ON, and (because of this cable) installed EZ Cast app, and DisplayLink Presenter app. Every permission granted to them and turned off battery optimization. If adapter is plugged to charger there will be guide displayed on screen of monitor how to do it. With all this set up, just plug cable to phone and.... Sometimes one time and sometimes many times need to choose connection type popup "transfer files". Need to be patient and finally will popup notification to start casting/presentation. Please don't click on anything after plugging cable to phone, You can miss final notification. Even when it shows "x" on connection status.

I looked into the cable on the official site and it does look like it'll work. I ordered the cable and if it works, I'll declare you my best friend.
Also, the cable is cheaper on the official site, which is not usually the case. They even ship to Turkey which is never the case. It's going so well, it makes me nervous.
Hi guys I need your help.
Since a while my Poco X3 NFC (M2007J20CG) MIUI 13.0.4 is not showing the usb connected notification anymore.
I tested multiple Xiaomi cable and several PC and USB Ports (both Linux and Win10) and this is what I've got:
Charge working properly (Mi Fast Charge too)
NO notification when the cable is inserted to a pc
NO way to choose the various type of connection.
I tried to access USB Debugging to test an app but no wired adb device is found and when i plug in the cable the only thing I have is the charging of the battery.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks in advance
