HD Audio/ VoLTE - ASUS ZenFone 7 / 7 Pro Questions & Answers

Is there a setting to enable VoLTE or some sort of HD phone call audio? I searched everywhere and i can't find something... The top speaker sounds like the other person is on speaker and talking from the bathroom...

Yes it's in the "Network and Internet" settings, under the "Mobile network" category.
Sorry if the labels are different on your phone. I'm using it in French.

Hmm I don't have it here either.
O2 UK network.
Sony have WiFi calling either actually

It probably depends on the SIM card.
You could try asking your mobile network provider for a new SIM card. But I'm not sure at all that would fix this.

My network operator is Orange/Sosh(France) and there is no option for the VoLTE.

Guys the truth is... The phone is compatible with only a limited set of band frequencies..
THIS MEANS
Volte, 4G 5G etc will ONLY WORK IF your cell phone provider has the same frequencies that the phone requires.
If you cant enable Volte, It wont work cause your phone is NOT capable of working on your Cell Providers cell tower freqncies. Each company uses a different Frequency
Here in USA
ATT will ONLY work upto 3g. You will see an H on top the signal bar which indicates a Enhanced 3g speed also know as HSPA speed connection. I have tried 2 new sim cards. I have tried several APN's I have tried all updates and a reset. No 4G and no 5G on ATT. Unless someone can tell me something new, this phone will not FULLY work on ATT. Text works. Calls work. Internet is sort of hit and miss with decent signal but again rather slow.
T Mobile will ONLY work upto 4g. No Volte although it seems to have the capability of Volte it cant not work with Tmobile Volte because it seems the cell bands are not compatible. Text work. Internet works rather fast, Good solid signal however no 5G and no Volte due to incompatible cell bands.
I did research on this subject and found that the ATT cell bands for everything including 5G do seem to be compatible with the 7 pro but again, it does not FULLY work oddly
I also did research on Tmobile cell bands and the bands for 5G are not even close to being compatible. Volte is also non compatible. 4g is compatible and works..
If someone has a magick wand which can somehow make these features work on this fone in USA Id be willing to send a donation..

[Q] stuck on 2g...wont go 3g...why?

So I I've searched for an answer or a problem similar only to come out with no luck...do what's going on right now is that I got my inspire unlocked from att and came to India because I now have to live here because in going to college here..anyway its unlocked and I purchased a prepaid plan from company Vodafone.
So I've been running with 2g for some time now and now I just sick off it and need 3g so I can also use mylaptop and connect to hotspot. Anyway I've got 3g plan however my phone is constantly staying on EDGE....which is pretty annoying because its so slow and I paid a bit to get 3g upgrade. I've tried the *%*#4636#*#* phone setting and switched to GSM/cdma auto. Also got the smsc and updated. Also I set up a new APN suited for the company with no luck..still on 2B.C. So my question is..how do you switch on 3g on inspire? Haven't been able to find that also been searching it. My Android is still 2.2.1 if that makes any difference. I've also called they company and HTC to no success...so please help me out. How do I initiate 3g on my inspire?
apparently I just need the option to turn on 3g and the phone info thing won't work...keeps me on edge.
Thanks
If you have tried going to your settings then to you mobile network settings. There should be an option to use only 2g networks. If that is checked, then you need to uncheck that.

But that's the problem...I can't find that option.I go into mobile network settings and see data roaming...apn..network operators..and always on mobile network option. I've been trying o find a option to set which to put..for instance 3g only or 2 g only or 3g preferred..no avail. still have Droid 2.2.1 if that makes any difference..
Their is no way to get 3g. India uses a different frequency for 3g. No way to change it outside of getting a different phone with compatible bands
The Inspire radio utilizes the 850/1900 3G bands. India uses the 900/1800 bands for 3G. If you use the phone in a market where the 3G is on a different frequency than the radio in the phone, the best you'll get is Edge. This is hardware related. There is no setting you can change or ROM you can flash that will allow it to operate on 3G in your market.
So no absolute way of getting 3g on my inspire in India?
Nope
..........
Huh...so best bet would be to get a new phone? What should I look for in order for this problem not to happen again?
Get the correct version, The Desire HD.
Is it company -problem or a country -problem? If I switch providrs, will it work?

Doubt it. Pretty much everyone except the US uses 900/1800, and att uses 850/1900 on it's phones (the inspire) - as previously stated this is in the phones hardware. So unless you can find a provider that uses 850/1900 for 3G your SOL - best bet is to get a new phone (DHD uses 900/1800 for 3G and is the same device as the Inspire, very minor differences)
Even i too have the same problem and I am from India.I have tried with my network operators many times but nothing works,i have to pay for 3g data and use 2g.Is there no fix for this issue?
omg, SEARCH. its what you agreed to do before posting.
ill put it simply for you. your inspire will never get 3g outside of the united states.

if you are in purple, u need a desire hd, orange, you need an inspire.

How's the audio processor?
How does NFC work?
What are uses for the fingerprint sensor besides unlocking the device?
How's the video quality?
Does it overheat or start to get warm during tasks?
What's your best SOT?
How easy is it to switch networks with two sims?
I have more questions but I'll relax and ask them later.

How's the audio processor?
For recording videos it is very clear and loud. Haven't tested it with a hifi earbud yet. Sound from speakers are decently loud but do now sound as bassy as the HTC one or nexus 6 speakers. One thing that's great is there is NO stutter when listening to audio with the front facing speakers and changing from landscape to portrait (as happens on the nexus 6)!
How does NFC work?
NFC is the same, tap on something and bam, nfc'd.
What are uses for the fingerprint sensor besides unlocking the device?
So far under android 5.1.1. Just to unlock the device. Once marshmallow comes out I'm sure more uses for it will follow.
How's the video quality?
Video quality is amazing. Colours have a nice balance to them. I turn off the x-reality engine.
Does it overheat or start to get warm during tasks?
Warm when charging and doing some serious downloading or installing a **** ton of stuff. Not hot at all. Haven't recorded 4k video. Will wait for the new camera app to be pushed out before I make any judgments.
What's your best SOT?
So far after one day of use 3.5houra SOT at 75% brightness constantly.
How easy is it to switch networks with two sims?
Seems fast enough. Just pick which for LTE and which for gsm voice. One thing of note... you cannot use LTE simultaneously on the z5 Dual. You can have one as LTE and one as gsm (2g) for voice and text only (so basically Rogers). Calling when one on sim and if someone calls you on the other sim, it will forward to your voicemail.

When you say "just pick which for LTE and which for voice", do you mean you can actively pick which SIM is using LTE Data via the settings app, or do you have to physically switch out the SIM cards in the actual device itself? I currently have a Dual SIM Phone but to pick which one gets Data, I have to physically remove and switch the SIM cards, not through the system's settings.
You can switch them actively on the go via the settings. Sucks you can't use LTE for both sims at the same time though, but I guess that would be a huge battery drain
got the single sim - E6653 on Rogers in Vancouver, so fast!!!
I have a follow up question on the dual sim support. So you mentioned one SIM supports LTE and one will support GSM/2G.
So is the second SIM is only 2G or can you get 3G/HSPA support?
Also what happens if you get a call on the LTE SIM? Will the phone CSFB to 3G on the LTE SIM's network to accept the call (since no VoLTE support)?
Hope that makes sense.
I was considering the dual sim model since I have two SIM's myself. One for work and one for personal. Both are voice and data LTE but on separate networks (AT&T and TMobile). If i'm hearing you right then there isn't much advantage for dual sim in N. America since 2G voice isn't any cheaper than the 3G or LTE...in fact the 2G networks kinda suck now since all the focus is on LTE and getting to VoLTE.

As far as I am aware, it supports gsm network (most likely 2G only). I don't have data on my 2ND sim so I'm not sure if it supports 3G data, I doubt it though.
If I receive a call on the LTE sim, it reverts to hspda yes. No VoLTE on telus AFAIK.

Does the Sony or Android UI tell you which network you are connected to on the primary line? In screen shots it seems like it just shows signal strength on both lines. I'm curious if it says LTE, 4G, H+ or H. My ATT service switches quite a bit here in Houston so sometimes I force the phones to 3G only in areas where reception is awful.

Hi there,
Could you please post a screenshot of the service menu of your Xperia Z5 Dual? I'm interested to see what are the working bands of this phone listed in this place.
Enter *#*#7378423#*#* in the phone dialer to open up the menu.
Choose "Service Info" and then "Configuration".
Capture the screenshot (feel free to cover your IMEI there).
Thanks a lot!

Hope someone can help me!
My Xperia Z5 Dual will got the following message and forced to restart when I have changed "Preferred network type" in settings--->More--->Mobile networks--->SIM1/SIM2, or even I have replaced another SIM card. (I have turned my phone off when replacing SIM card.)
Your device will now restart to be optimised for your service provider.
This is very annoying and anyone knows how to fix this issue?
Much appreciated!

Identical to what is listed on the white paper

Just got a S8+ and found out it doesn't support my carrier's network band

Just got a S8+ from my brother and was having some troubles with it (can text/use data but not recieve/make calls) and found out that the cause was because the phone supported the 4G LTE band of my carrier but not the 3G band which is what my carrier uses for calls.
So how screwed am I? is there anything I can do to fix this?

yes that is my phone
i think away might actually work really well, how would i force it to only use away/roaming?
okay this is weird, so i turned roaming on, connected to a different carriers network (rogers) and i can text and data fine but still cannot make or recieve calls on a AWAY network....? does this mean it shouldn't be a network band problem?
it shouldnt be my sim card as my sim card works fine on my older phone fine (s7E) and i JUST got it replaced my the warranty service (to fix this problem, which it didnt). It shouldn't be the phone either as my brother put his sim back in the phone and he can make calls fine....... what is wrong here?
IT WORKED THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
changing to rogers did not work (not sure why? maybe they use the same band is freedom)
however afterwards i changed to telus and i got calls!!

VOLTE On TMobile & ATT?

will volte work out the box for TMobile ? They won't activate phones on their network after a while if they don't support VOLTE.... Or any plans to update it in the near future. When will this go on sale in North America?
Sent from my ASUS_I01WDX using Tapatalk
I am currently on T-mo, it doesn't do VoLTE currently, I know its possible via root and changing parameters. ALSO they just enabled VoLTE for their ROG phone 3 via an update so I will assume they will probably do the same for the ZF7, if not I will have to root it.
I asked an asus rep about sale in NA and they didn't have an answer from marketing team, so I bought mine on eBay
I'm beginning to think they will sell in in america especially if they enable volte for TMobile like they did the rog 3. I'm waiting to see if they enable volte on the 6 and the 7.
And then there's the OnePlus 8T coming in going to weigh my optione

THIS IS MY OWN PERSONAL EXPERIENCE TODAY AS I PURCHASED A SIM FROM EACH PROVIDER ( THIS IS A DUAL SIM PHONE) AND PLACED THEM BOTH IN THE PHONE.. I DID EXTENSIVE RESEARCH>>>
IF ANYONE CAN GET THE PHONE TO DO 4G or 5G ID APPRECIATE THAT INFO>>
ASUS NEEDS TO DO AN UPDAT FAST BEFORE PEOPLE START TO RETURN THIS DEVICE. THIS AGE IS ALL ABOUT 5 G.. THIS PHONE IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH USA. I DO NOT SEE HOW AN UPDATE WILL FIX THE PROBLEM SINCE THE PHONE IS ONLY PHYSICALLY CABLE OF A SPECIFIC SET OF BANDS WHICH ARE NOT NOT NOT THE SAME AS USA BANDS

Question 3g connectivity on pixel 7 pro

I'm extremely disappointed and frustrated from my p7p cellular connectivity, especially 3G.
It is almost nonexistent, I tried to flash multiple roms , factory images , different carriers , rooting , with no use.
I tried using network guru to force the modem to use wcdma , with no luck .. I spotted my phone using wcdma UMTS couple of times , so there is no defect in the modem .
I'm always unreachable unless I forced it to use GSM .
Any idea how to resolve it , or workaround it ?
Can I erase modemst1 /2 and check ,or it is risky ?
Please I need help
Are you in the USA? Because 3G is either phased out or will be very soon for most networks.
I have to ask "why" are you trying to use 3G? The phone is capable of 5G and in the event that 5G is spotty you can turn 5G off and use 4G/LTE exclusively which will allow you to make calls and have data access at the same time. 3G is nearly obsolete. YMMV

I know, but here in Jordan ,3g still active for calls , volte is only provided by one carrier. And naturally, you won't be able to call using only lte coz by default, when you make a call , the phone switches from lte to 3g, and when 3g is unavailable it switches to GSM . And it's going to take long time to switch between those bands. I'm mostly unreachable by this process
So by default it's NR/LTE/ wcdma / GSM ..

Meanwhile here people have no idea what volte is and carriers dont enable it by default, i have to call them to enable it for me every time i switch a phone. 3G is still the most used network for calls there, even though 4G has even better and more stable coverage. I live in the european union.
I am only familiar with 3G with Verizon in the United States with the US version of the p7p with Verizon modem. The bands associated with 3G Verizon work well when you are outside of major cities and go more rural. But, max speeds of CDMA with Verizon bands are sub optimal at 1mbps. The call quality is great though as the old Verizon commercials "can you hear me now" reflect.
