I had this big-time on my note 10+. Haven't seen it yet on this phone. But it's a fairly known issue across multiple phone platforms
Try clearing chrome's cache, clear Sytem cache on the boot menu.
Try clearing chrome's data if that fails.
Try rolling back to factory install version if updated.
I use mostly Brave and the Samsung browsers (I run the beta version too).
Occasionally if too many Brave tabs (40+) are open I need to close all running apps with the "close all" button. The tabs on the browser remain intact when I reopen it. I will clear browser cache if the freezing glitch persists.
If that doesn't stop it I will close some tabs bring it down to 20 or so on Brave, sometimes Samsung's Browser needs to be wiped to zero tabs. Sometimes this is caused by a rogue website with malware, crashing the tab is the worst it seems to be able to do.
Ha-ha check for unwanted downloads... just in case; sometimes they get lucky for a little while.
I never have used chrome to that extent...

Can you tell us how to clear chrome's cache and data? I don't see the options listed under Apps- chrome. How do you also clear system cache?
Long press the app icon>app info
Or through Setting>Apps
Google how to pull up the boot menu for this device.
DO NOT select hard reset!!!
They're right next to each other...

on my thunderbolt i've been messing around streaming a couple flash videos. On my browser, i have settings set to "on-demand" for plugins so I have to click a flash element before it even begins to load. now, occassionally, i'll open a tab with a flash video, and as soon as i type the flash element, the browser exits immediately and I re-open the browser to find all my tabs closed and it loads up google (homepage). Its only sometimes that this happens and I haven't checked to see if auto-loading flash elements make a difference, but I do know that it's happened to me on the thunderbolt's browser as well as in dolphin HD browser.
anyone ever experience this? I remember it happening on my OG droid, maybe just an android quirk?
Bump
Anyone? It just happened to me again when i wasnt even trying to play flash...its really annying when you have 5-6 tabs open with no easy way to restore them when i reopen the browser
Turn off add ons and see if that helps at all.

Maybe one of the sites you have open has a script stuck running and wont complete....
I've had this happen a few times. I wasn't trying to use flash, however.
Happened to me once so far on T bolt. Happened a few times on some other android phones ive had. Idk what causes it. Its random.
Yeah it's a mystery I guesd. Overclocked to 1.5ghz today though!
Go To apps in settings menu and look for the internet app and clear chache and clear data should work

So basically, only when I'm in the Chrome app (not the beta, just stock chrome), when I hit the home button and come to my home screen, it's blank for a second or two, and then my apps / folders pop up. This shouldn't happen and hasn't happened to me until recently. It's almost as if i'm using too much RAM, but i know for sure I'm not as I've tested it with chrome being the only app even running. I don't think chrome is leaking 2 gb of ram...
Some info- this is on my nexus 5, rooted but stock rom with xposed. No xposed modules related to chrome, chrome is not greenified or anything, so i'm not sure where the problem is. I've reset all the default on ://chrome/flags so i'm not allowing it to use too much RAM. Can anyone think of why this is happening? I can provide more info if needed, just ask.

first things first. xposed comes with a countless amount of undocumented issues. before doing anything else to try and fix your issue, get rid of xposed, completely. if that doesnt fix your issue, we will try other things. if you dont try removing xposed. then theres no point to try anything else.

Simms is right. What I would recommend personally is having MultiROM installed and having one ROM on ART without exposed and another ROM with every XPosed module known to man and several species of Monkey. ?
Over time your device may seem fine but XPosed starts slowly corrupting the integrity of the ROM have no idea how. You'll get random force closes, weird audio bugs, force reboots, screen of deaths, and random lag spikes from my experience. You'll run every cleaner in the book, you'll clear cache and dalvik cache and fix permissions but it won't help. You've been struck by a smooth criminal, ahem. XPosed.
Hello guys! I have a bit tricky/technical question here. Yesterday I wanted to refresh my Pixel 3 a bit (clean flash with the December firmware, then rooted and never received OTA updates) so I booted TWRP and cleared the Dalvik Cache. When I rebooted, I noticed that some apps (especially Google ones like Youtube, built-in Camera, Maps) all suffer from a slow launch. A lot slower. Like... 3-4 seconds before the YouTube app can show anything different than the white splash screen with the red play logo. The Camera is also slow enough to see the fully black screen with the small centered camera icon for 2 seconds too. This only happens on clean start (when the app is cleared from the Recent Apps panel).
I checked the /data/dalvik-cache folder and it seems that all files are re-created after the wipe, however it's fairly obvious that the apps are no longer running from the odex/oat/whatever it's called now binaries. Clearing the app cache doesn't solve the issue, I've tried that. The only 'working' solution seems to be uninstalling the offending apps (e.g. Youtube) and then performing a clean install from the PlayStore. Then, the app launches fast as usual. However, I'm afraid that I can't do this for all of my apps (I'm going to lose preferences) plus I'm kind of afraid that the System apps (like the "Settings" app) cannot be re-installed with such ease and I will be stick with slow 'clean starts' here and there forever.
Do you guys know how I can trigger the 'App optimization' process that is observed when an OTA update is applied? You know, that time consuming screen that says 'Optimizing apps, 7 of 82'. This is when Android rebuilds the dalvik-cache and apparently I need to manually perform that. The other option would be to perform a clean flash (I'm already 4 months behind anyway), but I'm not particularly thrilled by the idea. Any suggestions on how to manually trigger the App Optimization process in order to rebuild my Dalvik?
I don't have a fix for you, but don't do that with TWRP. It does not apply to newer phones.
OxygenOS 9.5.9 update and I still have this issue see the video link below. I tried re-installing Chrome, did a factory reset of the phone, disabled smooth scroll on chrome but nothing works still have this issue!
What's also frustrating whenever I have this issue the screen will not timeout/go off, its as if something is hanging in the background. The only workaround I have found is to close the Chrome and relaunch or toggle the screen on/of with power button.
This issue also happens with Google Feed, Edge and Brave Browser basically any chromium-based browsers. Clearly, this is an bug with OnePlus and Chromium for whatever reason.
It's become so frustrating that I have disabled Chrome, uninstalled all other browsers and have resorted to using Samsung Internet Browser as my default browser which does not have this issue.

P.S. Only noticed this issue since updating to OxygenOS 9.5.8 and now 9.5.9 never noticed it in any of the previous versions!
Does it happen in Chrome dev?
I used to have this with (I believe chrome Dev) and needed to do exactly what you do, force stop and restart chrome. After that it works for a while but the problem comes back. After a while I uninstalled chrome Dev and started to use the stable one. Can't say I ever noticed it again, this was on min OP6, on my OP7P I'm still using chrome stable and also not notice the problem.
Some questions, are you stock? Custom kernel? Magisk modules? Etc etc.
Tried on the same website on chrome and it's normal on my unit

No runnning stock, not rooted as mentioned I did a full factory reset no joy. Even made sure I was running the factory pre-installed version of chrome. Whats worse when this happens it throws off the screen time out , screen will not time out unless I re-launch chrome or toggle power button on/off. To reiterate only noticed this issue since updating to OxygenOS 9.5.8 and now 9.5.9 don't recall having this issue on any of the previous versions!

The issue is random nothing to do with visiting a specific website, it happens every now and then as I said if I force stop chrome and re-launch problem goes away or if I just toggle the power button for screen on/off the scroll works as normal no issues!
I never had this issue with any of my previous phones and before anyone asks I have even uninstalled all the apps I normally use and stuck with the default ones still the issue rears it's ugly head.
The only solution for me now I'm using Samsung Internet Browser Beta as my default browser including opening links from all 3rd party apps and I have no scroll issues. :good: And actually this browser is growing on me, beginning to prefer this over chrome!
Really annoying , I understand.
What you could try is to factory reset and after that's done manually flash the latest available OS version. Not a OTA but the full rom. (Around 1500/2000 mb).

Hey
I am have problem with my s21+ g996u1..after frimware update i noticed that there is some app that trying to open randomly in background but then it close immediately..that happens every few minutes
There is a way to downgrade frimware?
There is a way to Recognize that app that trying
To open randomly and close?
Please helps
You can't degrade easily if at all from the factory installed version. Android 11 is a nightmare.
Start like this...
Clear system cache.
Fixed?
Try in safe mode, if this resolves it, it's likely a 3rd party app you loaded.
If it still is doing it in safe mode, it's a factory loaded or system app.
Go to Device Care>Memory, clear the apps.
Back out of it then open it again.
Expand the list and see if you can spot the app doing it as it loads. Disable that suspect app(s) to confirm if it's the culprit. A package disabler app is very nice to have when doing this.
With some persistence you will find it.
~or~
The easy way...
Go to a Samsung Experience center at Best Buy and have a Samsung tech run a diagnostic on it.
They can likely spot it.
On Battery and device care, click on bar graph in top.
Check the app issue, maybe will show your bad app.

Maybe but many apks are lumped together in Android Services. It's likely one of them or a Google app.
Problem apps don't always show under their name... that happens sometimes with the Google system apps.
Same here, S21+. After August update I've had the same issue as you, plus youtube fullscreen exiting every ~5 mins, Google Maps minimizing to window every ~5 mins, massive (2s+) freezes in games. None of this existed prior to this update. Someone messed up big time.
I installed the October update yesterday - to no avail, the issue persists.

If you mean power saving, then no, that's not the case. System cache clear didn't help either but I've just cleared the phone (factory reset), restored data with Smart Switch and looks like this helped. Gonna test it a bit more to confirm the solution.

Good. I avoid doing all firmware updates if my OS is running fast, stable and fulfilling its mission. Security is not an issue as best I can tell unless you do something stupid*.
Updates can do a lot of damage... if you like your OS, let it be.
*always backup critical data redundantly to at least 2 hhds that are physically and electronically isolated from each other and the PC.
You can use a OTG flashstick for quick "dirty" backups, but have the bulk of the backup on data hdds.
I use my SD card as a data drive on my N10+'s, then backup that card. That's why I demand a SD card slot; dual drive setups are the only way to go. The OS, apps, and the temporary download folder are the only things on the internal memory.
In crashes the data drive is usually spared. I can do a full manual restore from that data drive minus a few lost settings.
On my S21 Ultra (SM-G998B/DS) I have the same issue with "background activity" creating screen hick/refresh and switch from landscape full screen video to portrait mode.
Started after November security FW update end October.
Checked all possible settings and removing all 3rd party apps, hick-ups do persist...
'Glad' to read about this issue/bug here too, as I started to doubt myself...
