overclocking the screen

I really want the S pen from the note but I really like the 7 pro for the 90hz screen.
is there any way to overclock the note 10 display higher? even its its just to like 75hz that is fine.
preferably without having to root

Not gonna happen. Not sure why Samsung didn't include a 90hz screen, since they make the screen 90hz for OP, and the upcoming pixel 4.

Brightness, overall image quality, battery life. These appear to be the main reasons. Yeah the OP7 Pro has a higher refresh rate but don't be fooled, it's nowhere near as good as far as image quality and brightness. I guess it's up to personal preference.

I have both. Brightness? OP7pro is BRIGHTER than n10. Battery? Nope, I lost about 2% batt with 90hz on, not really a battery killer. Lol. People need to stop with the bs.

Considering the OnePlus 7 Pro's display brightness spec is supposed to max out at around 820 nits while the note 10+ can reach 1300... you either got a special phone that no one has seen or you're full of crap.

My v40 and s9+ is are brighter than my brand new note 10?

First thing i noticed upon setup.I tried messing with all display settings.Note 10 is supposedly one of the brightest display's on the market even more so than a xs max or a s10+.Do i have a defective unit? anyone else feel like their max brightness is low?

Agree.,,my OP7pro is brighter than my note10plus. This along with the issues of signal, is a deal breaker for me.

My note 9 was as well I tried all sorts to see why but I managed to sort it out by switching on performance mode and setting blue light filter on and to the lowest setting
Now the note 10 plus is brighter then my note 9 but in video the note 10 is not as vivid and bright I think it's due to the note 10 been more color accurate and them eliminating a lot of the blue light
But I think it does get bright just more in direct sunlight

Ok so i tested the v40, s9+ and note 10 all on the same youtube hdr video. s9+ and note10 on vivid, note 10 is definitely the brightest of the three.so the display is not faulty, its capable but you cannot go the high brightness manually. probably because of potential oled burn in warranty problems , samsung has capped the brightness under normal conditions. Also i noticed, if turn the screen temp to cool it looks a bit brighter. I read somewhere Samsung reduced blue light from their display starting with the s10. Might be why display appears to be dimmer. Wish it wasn't capped at the very least. you pay 1k for a flagship phone and samsung does this smh.

Have had the Note 20 Ultra from T-Mobile since Wednesday and then phones been be great except for two flaws. One is native gestures still not working 100% smooth with third party launchers - which is okay, I am using FNG anyway, but another is the screen brightness.
Despite being in direct sunlight, the panel doesn't get bright. Samsung claims 1500 nits of brightness, it definitely doesn't get there through either manually sliding the brightness or setting it to auto brightness. Definitely isn't as bright as my OnePlus 8 Pro.
I've annoyingly factory reset the phone to no avail. Anyone else having issues?

Yes, it's not great .... my Note 8 is brighter in normal use.
The panel does get brighter in strong daylight but the maximum manual brightness is poor.

It is some kind of protection bec extra brightness for long time damage Amoled displays so they decided to limit it in normal usage

It's bright but the white point is um, weird.
Reminds me of the Surface Pro IPS panels, always, always, too green!
And the ability to adjust RGB levels has nary an effect!
I want the ability to calibrate the display properly FFS!
I know it's a decent display but gimping the calibration ability makes about as much sense as putting bias ply tires on a Ferrari!

If you read what samsung say about its Dynamic Amoled panels you will understand why the white looks weird , they have implemented a Hardware blue light filter which filters the harmful blue light emissions that is why all new samsung displays show white a llitle yellowish , It might not be the best looking but is is safe for your eyes and renders a more accurate colors.

What's the point of having that?
It's clearly inferior to my professional displays.
Proper calibration and white point is *everything*.
It does NOT look yellowish, it has too much green.
That looks horrible.
After using it for a day I cannot believe how much better my Mac, 11 Pro Max and S20 Ultra looks.

Can you please tell me if the screen isn't bright if adaptive mode is turned off? (120hz)

Compared to the Note 10+ it's significantly brighter even in 120Hz, and I often need to lower it even with the adaptive brightness on.
It's somewhere around 1/5 or 1/6th of the brightness bar.

Note20 Ultra screen wearing poorly after a year

So I've had the Note20 Ultra 512 GB since release last year. Image retention has always been there, but never resulted in burn in so I ignored that. However, now the screen uniformity is getting worse. The area around the fingerprint sensor and a rectangle about half an inch around the edges of the screen are a different darkness level. It's very visible on gray screens and medium colors at any brightness. I also have an S20+ that is not exhibiting any of the issues I see here. I remember having my Note 9 under neon lights and the half inch ring was noticeable, but could not be seen in normal lighting or dark environments. I was hoping to pass this phone to a family member when the S22 Ultra comes out, but I have concerns about screen longevity. Anyone else noticing this?

The S22U is worse from what I'm seeing; a lot of display issues. Display just going black after a reboot or charge, whatever... dead as Zed.
Plus no SD card slot, no native spen and running on the dog OS Android 11. All that for a premium flagship price. Yes, well...

I keep my N10+ at less than 50% about 99% of the time. I use dark mode and near black wallpaper. Minimum red icons. Mostly because I prefer not burning out my eyes but also OLED preservation. I use manual brightness control only.
At 2 years my heavily used 10+ shows no display degradation even compared to my new one.
See what you, use ScreenTest to make sure you actually have any changes with the display. You really shouldn't. If you been conservative with your brightness and you have degradation it's likely a design and/or manufacturing fubar.
Samsung runs hot and cold. This year has been a bad year for Samsung.
Next year isn't any better plus Android OS is tanking. Even if Samsung does manage to pull a Note out of their assets, I'll wait a year to buy it.
See what kind of feedback it's getting and if the Android OS completely turns into a sour green Apple
I punched out and went with a know good workhouse for the next 2-3 years. I just wasn't liking what I saw... and the 10+'s just keep on ticking.

Using it at 40-50% brightness. The screen looks fine in decent lighting, but in a darker room I can see the shaded areas clearly. When using a light theme or pure black, everything looks great as well. I just find it odd how much more noticeable artifacts are on these screens than on the S20+ and Note 9.

That's not excessive...
The ScreenTest app will help you see what is degraded. Blue pixels tend to degrade first, red last.

The US models don't come with screen protectors. The glass has held up decently with only 2 tiny hairline scratches that are only visible in sunlight.

Wow I have exactly the same issue. Exactly the ring and rectangle above. I thought it was because of some image that created such a high contrast, but since you have the same issue then it's a hardware issue.
And it's only visible on some shades of grey. Not on black, not on white. So strange

since many devices have the same burn-in pattern, do you believe it has something to do with its internal components (rather than the display's pixels)?
Like the charging circuit for example?

This problem is getting much worse and is now visible at all times regardless of brightness. It likely will result in an unusable screen soon. I will try reaching out to Verizon and/or Samsung to get a resolution. This is totally unacceptable for a phone that only been used a little over a year. Here is what it looks like at 50% Brightness, and 10% Brightness. The Note 9 and 10 Plus lasted over 2 years with no such problems.

I've been using Redmi Note 11 Pro plus for the past few days. I had been using a Samsung m30s before and compared to that the display experience in Redmi Note 11 Pro has been dull.
Last day I noticed something. I had tried using a completely black wallpaper and then I noticed how the black was not proper. Colour was leaching out through sides of display like a backlight bleed.
I had seen previous reports of a possible Redmi Note 11 Pro Display problem which made me do a display test on the phone. Then I noticed that this bleed like effect was present also for white as well as dark grey colors.
However these went away after I restarted my phone. So I wanted to know whether anyone else experienced this Redmi Note 11 Pro problem.

This is a software issue that only occurs on MIUI. On custom roms this problem doesn't show up and the screen is completely black.

Probably a software issue, mine is noticeable when swiping the brightness while on the black screen test raging from 8 - 15% of brightness where I can see the bleeding

Hello I was planning on getting this phone (Redmi note 11 pro 5g) but after researching a bit I came across this thread. I heard this is an issue that affects both models. Is this an issue that affects only certain units or do most have amoled problems? Does this only show in 120hz mode? Thanks!

My device has no such problem. I generated a #00000000 image using an app and tried viewing it at max brightness in a dark room and the screen legit turns off. Its kinda freaky to see a display turn off when you know its on and expect some bleed. I come from lcd so thats what I expected. Needless to say I'm glad my model wasn't defective.

I have compared the Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus 5g (peux) with last years top model Redmi Note 10 Pro Max and this display seems to be more colorful and vibrant compared to last years model. That one seemed more washed out in the same display modes.

The issue is not present at 100% brightness. Try keeping the image, and play around with the brightness settings from 0 to 100. Then, you can notice that at certain percentages, the backlight bleeds quite heavily. In my device, it's at around 30-50. Some other users report that it's happening to them at 40-60.

Tried it and still fine.

I have the same problem with a redmi note 10 pro, with brightness between 0 an 19%
At 20% and more, the black si.. black

hi does this affect daily usage? I tend to use my phone a lot at night in bed so it would suck if the bleeding is that bad. How noticeable is it when watching content with dark scenes/backgrounds?

On my day to day usage, I find that it's not noticeable at all. However, If you're watching content that has pure black elements, it is very noticeable. It's inconvenient, but usually when it happens I just turn down the brightness a little bit and it's gone.
I wouldn't say it's a deal breaker, I still think the phone is a pretty good value, but buyers beware. There's some hope that it'll be fixed in an update at some point but I wouldn't hold my breath. Just be aware that your mileage may vary.

Is this an issue that is present on 60 or 120hz? Saw a couple of posts on other threads that say issue disappears on 60hz. Is it the same on yours?

The problem still persists regardless of whether or not I set 60 or 120hz. On my device, at least.

Guys, try this app called Oreo colorizer. This solves the issue.
It forces the display to shift its color space to DCI-P3 instead of the default sRGB according to the below XDA thread.
So the issue is software related. NOT HARDWARE. Hope Xiaomi solves this by updates in future.
