If anyone currently owns the original Galaxy Fold, I am interested to hear about your experience regarding durability.
Assuming you've owned this device around a year, how did the screen hold up, did you have to be stupidly careful when handling it?
The Fold 2 looks like a much more capable and durable device, so if the original Fold survived well it gives me confidence in buying one and using it like any other smartphone.
.
I'd wander down to the OG section, there are a couple thread that touch on durability, started one of them myself just a month or so before this one launched.

Yeah I did check that out. Seems that the original has turned out more durable (for most) than was originally believed.
I just watched a Youtube video from Flossy Carter, if anyone can prove the Galaxy Fold would take some everyday abuse, it would be him. So good news so far!
.
I've had both
I had an original fold for about 6 months before I upgraded yesterday to the new version. I had zero issues with reliability or durability with the original phone. I was only using a d brand skin, not even a case, for most of the time I had the phone, and I found it to have no problems with the infrequent times when I dropped it. I am not very hard on phones, but I don't baby them either. The only reason I upgraded was because I was using an unlocked Att phone on Verizon and I found it impossible to get android updates. Frankly, I did not even have a problem with the size of the outside screen, as I was usually using it for quick looks at whatever. The new phone feels a little more solid, though the first version was fine as well. The hinge DOES feel more substantial, which I like. Over all it is great, but I thought the same thing about the original. If I had been able to get updates I would not have upgraded.
Just sent my old Fold back to Sammy to get the $800 promo

I did the trade in also, but in the UK rather than the US. Did you get shipped additional packaging and shipping label to return the original Fold?
I didn't receive the shipping label with my order, and the tiny box shipped with the Fold 2 doesn't fit the original. The FAQ states that if you can't find the shipping label or lost it, you can reprint from your order, which I can't find anywhere, so have resorted to emailing support to see if the can print another one.
Wanted to know if anyone else that traded in was missing their returns label or just me.
Took a few hours after getting the phone and then I got the label in the email. They never ship a box. I usually just put the phone only (no box or charges) in a generic box, slap the label and ship it out

That's good to know. It's why I originally asked the question because durability is obviously unknown on the Z Fold 2 so we can only go by how good the original one is assuming the Fold 2 is improved.
How do you find the feel of the screen compared to the original? Does it still feel plasticky? Of course there is a screen protector to consider but have read that it now feels less mushy, and not so sensitive to fingernail scratches.
.
Scratches.
The inner screen feels mostly the same, as I have left the screen protector on. I never had a problem with how the screen felt on the original. The outer screen I Am enjoying more. The larger outer screen feels better to use for typing particularly. I am typing this on the outer screen using a swype keyboard and it is working perfectly as expected. One difference I have noticed is that my battery life does not seem to be as long. I used the original pretty power heavy and this one I have on optimized, but I don't think I am getting the same battery life as I did before. Not sure why.

Thanks for the heads up! As much as I hate screen protectors I think I should keep the inside one intact (definitely will remove the cover screen one)
Still waiting on my phone to arrive, there's been a shortage of stock and I still don't have a delivery date yet. So excited about this phone and from what I hear I won't be disappointed.
.
I just posted some comments in the "how do you clean the screen" thread so won't repeat everything here. The screen protector on the inside display is cheap and foggy. If you look at the front facing camera cutout you can see what's underneath and that looks a lot like the protective layer that everyone thought was a screen protector on the OG Fold and pulled it off and destroyed the display. Assuming what's under the screen protector is the same as the OG Fold then the display will be very durable. I had my OG Fold for eight months and the screen is as perfect today as it was when I got it. There are videos on YouTube of people taking the screen protector off on the Fold 2 and I'll join them soon. The fogginess works my nerves.
I dropped my OG Fold on wooden floors a couple of times and it was none the worse for it. The hinge was always kind of for want of a better word, crunchy. If you squeezed the phone you could feel the play in the hinge. It never affected usability and was no better or worse eight months later. The OG Fold was really a proof of concept rather than a mass production phone and if it held up as well as it did I have high hopes for the Fold 2.
Some comments after moving in the Fold 2 and using it for a few days.
The new hinge is a lot more sturdy and it staying in fixed positions on the way to open or closed allows for Flex Mode which I guess is a good thing. That is if you don't mine putting the cover display or glass back/camera glass of your $2,000 phone down on random foreign objects. It was a lot easier opening and closing the OG Fold because that's what the display was designed to do - be open or be closed. Maybe I'll fall in love with Flex Mode but I'm kind of missing the easier opening/closing.
The 4.6" cover display was really just for reading notifications and brief interactions. Typing on it was maddening. So Samsung has now filled the cover display which is a huge esthetic improvement. Typing is only moderately better because the width, while expanded, is still comically narrow. The height is clown car bizarre in use. Trying to reach the top of the cover display with one hand requires basketball player sized hands. I like the new bigger display better than the old one, even just for the improved looks, but it's still a strange format to get things done on.
I have bronze and the Fold 2 really is a gorgeous phone. It looks like jewelry with the intricate design elements and varying textures. The camera bump is much more pronounced than on the OG Fold which makes carrying it naked all the more nerve racking. The OG Fold was futuristic because it was and there was nothing to compare it to. I guess you could compare it to the Mate X but I'd never buy a foldable that had their vulnerable plastic displays on the outside of the phone. The OG Fold was an odd device and carried it's oddity with pride. The Fold 2 is a really nice phone that folds in half. It's special but not as special as the OG Fold was for its time.
Cases. I have the OEM leather case and Aramid case. Both suck for different reasons. The leather case is like wearing orthopedic shoes with a tuxedo. As balanced as the Fold 2's design is slapping the leather case on it makes it look deformed. It's a chunky case and when it's on it looks incredibly disjointed. Kind of like someone stuck an additional panel (the front display) on top of another phone as an afterthought. It does its job and protects the back of the phone well but it looks God awful. The Aramid case looks better because it's much thinner but half black and half bronze looks weird. And the kickstand bump makes the phone wobbly when you put it down and makes it easy for the phone to slide around. Olixar makes a back panel screen protector as well as a camera protector. I ordered a Dome screen protector for the front display. I think that's the way I'm going to go because I can't see with the Fold 2's design how anyone will be able to make a symmetric front and back case that doesn't look like an appendage.
In using the phone everyday it's a lot like its predecessor. It's obviously faster but s/w wise, outside of Flex Mode, there isn't a great deal of difference between the two. The inside display is much more fluid due to the higher refresh rate but what you're looking at is equal to or worse than the OG Fold because of the $.99 screen protector Samsung applied. I'm happy with the Fold 2 and it makes the OG Fold look and feel older than it is. I think the Fold 2 will wow people more that have never used a folding phone than those of us coming from the OG Fold. It sure is pretty though.
No regrets

Yeah, I have no regrets on the upgrade. I am assuming I am getting poorer battery life is because of the 120h inner screen, but it seems a pretty dramatic drain at this point. I read the news in bed before I get up, and I am often at 90% just from the 10 minutes of reading. I am also having a little trouble with some new Samsung ui features. Particularly, when a message bubble appears on the front screen, I cannot read the message, only the place where I can reply. I have tried resizing, but I end up having to open the app, which defeats the purpose of the bubbles. It might be my fault though because I use the drupe app, and it might just not be sizing itself appropriately for the smaller cover screen. It might just be something I have to deal with, because I would not get rid of drupe. I like the app so much I feel like a cooperate shill for them every time I talk about it.

Yeah I think you're being brave to use an app like Drupe on such unique aspect ratios! The built in messaging app has a great bubble notification feature which I use on my Note 20, so I am guessing Samsung included the feature on the Fold 2.
Good news is my Z Fold 2 arrives tomorrow, so I am really looking forward to unboxing and trying it out.
Thanks for your input and giving me assurance regarding durability ツ

First of all, let me say that I really like the S4. I sold my iPhone 5 and be able to buy it at full price when it was released. I like the size, it's just about perfect size for me, fits well in my hand. The air gestures and air views are pretty nice, they come in handy. Coming from an iPhone, having a replaceable battery is priceless, I liked being able to swap out my low battery with a full charged one.
My first S4 broke while in my pocket on 5/6, I wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary, was just doing things around the house, when I pulled it from my pocket there was a crack from the upper right corner down the middle of the left side. The AMOLED display under the glass is what broke, device was unusable, nothing showed on the screen except some colors on top left above the crack.
After fighting with AT&T and Asurion the entire next day, AT&T agreed to give me an early upgrade. So I bought a new one on 5/7.
I received my new S4 on 5/10, then this morning, 5/15, while at work I was squatted down, texting, and dropped it from around knee level on carpet with padding over concrete and it cracked the AMOLED display, this time in the upper right corner, with 4 cracks from the side to about an inch into the display.
This S4 had a Spigen Ultra Thin Air case on it, as well as Spigen's Glas.t Slim screen protector.
I don't expect manufacturers to make phones that are indestructible, but this seems ridiculous to me.
I was a long time Apple user before I bought the S4, I don't think I will ever go back, but I'm regretting going with Samsung now. I've spent over $900 between both devices and now they are both in the mail (as well as almost $200 in accessories that are worthless now), for Samsung to evaluate, so for the next two weeks I'm stuck with using an old S2 that likes to reboot every 15 minutes.
I've read a few posts on here about people breaking the screen under the glass like I did. So I'd be careful if you own one.

That sucks dude. But hey, a little advice...fix that S2! If it's rebooting like that, there's something wrong. There are several super-stable Jelly Bean roms available for flashing these days. I come from that world, so I know it like the back of my hand...PM me if you'd like me to help you make your S2 awesome.
Before anyone says this isnt a necessary thread, I think it is.
Having a 32GB and having spent money on my device and screen protector and cases I'd like to know this too, so I would love to hear from anyone else that has broken their device easily
Damn that sucks OP. I think you have bad luck with the S4, I remember when you mentioned the S4 screen cracking while it was in your pocket. I would get another phone if I were you.
I have a really hard time "feeling sorry" for people who drop and break their phones and complain.
I don't know what kind of response (pity?) that you want from people.
Drop the iphone 4 in just the right spot and it'll crack too. Every phone is the same more or less.
Don't want a broken phone? Don't drop it. You break it that way, the fault is no ones but yourself.

That's kinda of an ignorant comment, the OP had his screen cracked and it was just in his pocket so no drop at all. The second time it was a drop but it is his experience and I understand it especially when you purchase a device this expensive twice. Don't be rude man.
His story for breaking in his pocket was "while around the house". So whats to say he didn't accidentally smash it again something while doing housework or anything else like a table?
Dropping your phone - what do you expect? Go buy a Nokia if you plan on dropping it. Even then im sure drop proof isn't part of any phone's warranty.
Pretty straight forward. You may not like my "tone" but you can't honestly count it against the phone if you're not keeping it safe. The error is human in this case. Own up to it and take better care of your phone.
I've cracked iphones and android screens and bodies before, it was probably my fault in handling it; but you definitely won't see me running to a forum and complaining about the manufacturer having shoddy quality when it was clearly human error.
I'm starting to wonder if maybe it's the Chinese models in specific breaking like that because I have seen multiple S4's dropped now WITHOUT ANY CASE from 6 feet and survive with only scrapes to the actual frame and here you have a case AND a glass screen protector, and it falls from half the height and suffers catastrophically.
Has to be something more going on here. Reviews will also show the phone can survive falls just like any other premium metal phone and then some, so quite an odd case here
ALSO to everyone else, stop hating on the OP. Yea I have to agree it's just really vague to say your phone was just up and broken, but I'm willing to look at it as the OP is telling the truth cause at worst, even if he is lying, it really don't matter.
No offense OP, but I'm going to call bull**** here. You have to be leaving out something -- even if it's by accident. I've had smartphones with larger screens for 5+ years now, and not once have i cracked or broken a phone. The last phone that broke was the first nokia clamshell that came out -- and that was after i dropped it from standing on to a concrete floor. Even then it worked still, the plastic just cracked a bit.
There is no way you broke your phone just having it in your pocket -- unless you were wearing super tight hipster jeans with your keys in your pocket. Futhermore, dropping your phone 2 feet on to a padded floor, won't just break your phone either....it just wont.
I've dropped my s3/s4 many times on to my wood floor now without any issues (without a case).
Also, wouldn't your phone be under the 14 day return policy anyway? If anything happens in those 14 days, you get a new one?
Overall, this just doesn't make sense. I think you are omitting some key details here; these phones ARE NOT that fragile.
EDIT-- How did you figure $900 dollars between two phones plus $200 in accessories?
A new line/renewal should be about $200-250 per phone; cases run $30-35, USBs 5-10, screen protector 7-15....
You should have gotten insurance.

I'm not asking for anything, I'm just putting this info out here.
In my experience, the S4 is easily broken.
And it's not glass that broke in both of mine, it was the display under the glass, the device was not usuable after. The glass was pristine on both, for that matter the both phones were as well, just the display cracked.
You can do what you want with the info, I'm just letting people know what happened with my 2 devices.
When you keep you phone in your pocket, make sure you always keep the screen against your leg. I broke my first Galaxy S2 with the screen out in my pocket when I leaned against a table.
I am shocked that the 2nd time with having a GLAS.t tempered glass that it broke.
You spend this kind of money on phone...treat it like your car....GENTLE. I have had a smartphone for years and not even 1 scratch on any phone I have ever owned. It is like your girlfriend or wife...Gently...
Very expensive way to learn.

Let's be realistic. It's no secret this phone is easily broken. And tbh, when you say something like "it's all your fault because you dropped it is a bit ridiculous. I've dropped my gs2 more times than I can count, face down, from up high, sliding across concrete etc, and the screen is still fine, but the build quality on the gs4 is seriously lacking. I'm scared to even buy one after hearing all these stories. For now I'm sticking to my gs2

Just to be safe, think of it this way, if you drop it, it WILL crack. Of course, it might not but if you think it will every time, maybe a little more precaution will be taken. It doesn't matter if it was a mistake...just don't drop it. Any phone that is mostly screen will always have a certain level of fragility and should always be treated that way. It doesn't mean the build quality is bad.

thanks for the info.
I think there used to be a thread on this, but I can't find it anymore. Here's my question:
I'm looking for a thin leather case for my S6. Not so much a wallet style case, sleeve, or one with a closure, just a protector for the back and sides of the device. My experience with PU or low-grade leather (<$20) isn't great, so I'm fine spending a little more money (>$50).
Ideally, it would be brown and available in the US. The options I've seen so far don't fit in with the color, price, or domestic availability. Any suggestions? If you're going to suggest these, I've already looked at them and they are a bust:
I'm an XDA noob, so I'm prevented from posting links, but I've looked at cases from Stilgut (can't order from Amazon US and potential returns to DE seem difficult), Sena (no back-only case for the S6), Vaja (not making a case for the S6), and Montblanc (if I'm gonna spend $110, I need one that is perfect, i.e., brown). None fit the bill.
Again, apologies if this is a duplicate thread. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
P.S. As an aside, I'd consider a wooden case, but none of those (Carved, Toast, etc.) seem to be what I'm looking for either.
I'm interested in this as well.
The official Apple leather case for the iPhone is perfection for what I want. Unfortunately, that's one area that Samsung doesn't seem willing to take design queues from. I wouldn't mind paying 40/50 bucks if its THE only case id want/need.

Currently choosing between Galaxy S6 and iPhone 6. As silly as it might sound, a good leather (shell) case is one of my highest priorities.
I broke 3 iPhone 5's until I put the official leather case on it (I always disliked plasticky cases).
It added more grip, and just enough protection from average falls.
Ridiculous really. Choosing a $1000 piece of tech based on a $50 accessory. But that's just how it is.
Hopefully someone knows of something.
They haven't announced the S6 case yet but I have always been happy with with Vajacases - if you are willing to drop some extra cash. Here's one of the options for the S5: http://www.vajacases.com/galaxy-s5-leather-cases/premium-leather-grip
Edit: I see you mentioned Vaja is not making an S6 case. What is your source? It usually takes them a few months before the new models are ready.
There actually was a thread on this subject until recently, but when trying to find it now, I just realized it has inexplicably been deleted. Had a few good examples in it, but they're obviously not reachable now. I'll post the link here below in case the thread turns up again.

I contacted Vaja through their website back in April and they told me that it was under development. When I checked in last week, they said that a case for the S6 "is not currently being planned for production. We planned to develop a line in the past but I am afraid right now the project has been cancelled."
Whether that means it may show up later, who knows, but for now we're out of luck. Boo.
Yeah, no clue either why the other thread disappeared. It led me to a couple of versions of Apple-esque leather Galaxy S6 cases on eBay.
This one without a plastic fill in the camera/HRM cutout is the one that I already bought in dark blue for my black S6. In short:
Top and bottom are left uncovered
Fit is pretty good, no looseness anywhere really
The power + volume down buttons are both properly clicky
The volume up is pretty mushy, but not too bad
No interference with headphone jack or bottom USB port
The width of the case means that the camera module no longer touches the surface when laid on its back
It does NOT, however, appear to have any lift on the front so your screen will touch the surface when laid facedown
The last item was probably so that swiping in from the edge of the screen is still quite comfortable
Overall I'm pleased enough with the quality and feel of the PU leather cases that I might end up also trying out this slightly different version with plastic fill for the camera/HRM cutout . I'm not sure if it's unclear photos but it looks like this version has full coverage around at least the top of the bottom?
Anyhow, the one that I have feels a lot like the Apple Leather case I've tried out on iPhone 6, which is exactly what I was looking for.

Wow, thank you so much. The "more expensive one" is exactly what I am looking for. No cutouts on the side or anything. Looks perfect. Out of curiosity, how long did shipping take? I have the worst luck with that kind of thing, and it looks like it ships out of China.
Also, since you have the dark blue/black S6, can you throw up a few images for me?
I just ordered one of each... hopefully they arrive before S7....
Looks like one of these would work. Thanks for the tip.

Yeah, the buttons on the second cases I linked in my post look like they'll have better buttons. On mine it's like... slits on each end of the button section.
Shipping was surprisingly fast for me. I think I wanted like... just under two weeks? I was quoted a shipment time like 30+ days from purchase (which is insane), so I was pleasantly surprised when it showed up in normal China --> US shipment time.
If I can get a few minutes to myself at home tonight I'll try and snap a few choice pics of the dark blue on my black S6.
Though it's not without its tradeoffs, I think you'll be more than pleased with your order

The official Apple leather case for the iPhone is perfection for what I want. Unfortunately, that's one area that Samsung doesn't seem willing to take design queues from. I wouldn't mind paying 40/50 bucks if its THE only case id want/need.

I found a high end solution for you guys as well. Reviews on Bouletta from the Sony forums talk about them being some of the highest quality leather cases on the market.

BROWN: http://www.bouletta.com/index.php?i...xy_s6_ultimate_jacket_other_models-uj_rbt5_s6
Looks nice, but having the cut outs on the side just make it feel cheap to me...Even if it's of the highest quality

I know exactly what you mean. Originally I wanted an Xperia Z3, but there are literally no cases available without massive side cut-outs. The Z3 one is borderline ridiculous: http://www.bouletta.com/index.php?id_product=103&controller=product
The Galaxy S6 one isn't too bad. Not as good as the standard Apple one though unfortunately =\
I have the second case linked from ebay earlier. It is nowhere near leather feeling. I would say it feels more like a smoothed out velvet than anything. Also, the case does not really offer any protection for the front. It might stick out 1mm past the screen. Overall it is an okay case for the price, but if anyone wants a "leather" feel to a case, this is not the one for you. The buttons are not that great either. You lose most of the tactility from the keys with the case. I imagine over time they will break in and feel better, but after a week of use it doesn't feel great, but doesn't feel as bad as it did at first.

Am I missing something? I can't seem to find a price/how to buy? Is it a non-US site?. Also, the brown case looks grayish, no? (I'm legit color blind though, so that could just be my broken eyes)
Hey that bouletta case looks really nice. However, is the thickness of the back of the case enough so that the camera doesn't touch the surface the phone is placed on? I've seen many posts of people saying how they cracked the camera lenses after just putting the s6 on its back like on a table or something similar.
Thanks

ARRIVED!!
This one came in today : http://www.ebay.com/itm/Luxury-Orig...Domain_0&var=570673785727&hash=item3f4af29e66
Gotta say... i'm insanely impressed. I can't imagine getting much closer to the official Apple Leather case than this. Sure, there is virtually no drop protection, but that's not what I'm into. Just need to keep it scratch free and get that camera bump evened out. I have attached some pics.
Biggest problem for most people will be lack of lip around the screen. It's pretty much flush with the aluminum on the device. I actually prefer that since I never ever place my device face down... so i'm able to still feel the slight curve to the glass.
The buttons are a little stiff right now - but I'm going to chalk that up to material. It'd be awesome if they wear in over time, but not a big deal if they don't. I'm thrilled with this thing for 8 bucks... could easily sell for 30 in US retail stores.
I also got the 5 dollar version and it's not nearly as nice. That two dollars makes all the difference in the world apparently.

Thanks for the pictures. It looks to be a little off around the bottom of the phone. Is it just the angle of the picture or is that the case?
I had purchased something like this for an iPhone 6 plus that I had and it just slightly didn't fit the phone. The cut out for the camera was off were it wouldn't sit flush with the back of the phone. I ended up just biting the bullet and paying the 50 odd bucks for the apple one. It would be nice if there was a decent quality real leather option, even if the price was higher. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Again thanks for the picture.
And they come with a free glass screen protector!

UPDATE 2: It's back up
UPDATE 3: Check your spam for shipping confirmation!
UPDATE 4 : This case absolutely destroyed my signal strength, it will be going on eBay tonight. I personally do not recommend this case despite the looks/protection it offers

Nice, let me know how you like it! Never used one of these before but they look amazing.
Yes, I had a Kewers on my Z1c last year which looks pretty similar and would recommend in case your pre order falls through, they are also about to release for Z5. Similarly I've seen Deff Japan bring out an exquisite frame recently for the Z5, but the cost factored in with Japanese export cost makes it a little prohibitive. Looks very nice all the same
Ordered a GRAPHITE black. Hopefully it doesn't block signal and hopefully the fingerprint will still work.
I did also get a back matte glass screen protectors.
Just saw my shipping confirmation email, if you guys haven't gotten it yet, check your spam mail--all their emails to me went straight to spam.
Just got mine in today. First time I've ever owned one of these cases and liking the look so far. Just put it on so can't say anything for signal loss.
Got the front glass screen protector, which sadly does not come with a cut out for the front-facing camera.
Volume rocker can be a bit of a struggle and will definitely take me some getting used to but camera button works great and the cut out for the power button/fingerprint sensor is spacious, allowing you to unlock it with little fuss.

Thanks for posting pictures, I might buy one of these for myself. What is the cutout at the top of the device for? Or is that there to save material?
Not sure, actually. Possible material saving, possibly for signal loss. You're guess is as good as mine.
Had the graphite black one... I find it really hard to use the power button and fingerprint scanner... Anyone else?
I'm thinking of returning it.

Not having any trouble getting my fingerprint to register, but the initial power button press does require a little adjustment. Still, not a dealbreaker for me.
received mine today, very impressed - not having issues with fingerprint scanner, I use my right thumb and it's small enough to squidge in between the raised area Not put on tempered yet, still using Sony provided protector
Got mine last night, green on green so I won't post duplicate pictures.
Signal quality has taken a noticeable hit. I am no longer able to make calls or texts in my bedroom whereas before I had low signal that would only occasionally drop. Now I have absolutely nothing unless I stand by the window. TWS has gone up, but I haven't been paying enough attention to what it was before to say how much. I just know it wasn't in the high 30% range like it is now.
I can't decide if I like the green on green look--as you can see from the other pictures, the greens clearly do not match. It's a nice green, just not the same as the phone. Would look sexy on a white phone imo, but I don't think I'm going to be keeping it on mine. I'm either going to go with graphite black or just wait for rubber bumper cases. The signal hit is so much stronger than I anticipated I don't think it's worth it for me.
With that said, I will give it a week or two to see if things settle down. It is a beautiful case, fits very well, and will definitely protect during even a disastrous drop. Fingerprint reader is way easier to access than with my tudia case.
The back screen protector is extremely precisely cut and combined with the bumper it was almost a brainless install. Matte finish is not perfect in some areas but I don't mind. Not great if you have ocd, but I'm fairly particular and it doesn't bother me. It's like they sprayed the finish on too thick in one or two spots around the camera.
Overall I would definitely recommend the case/company, but there's some inherent problems with using metal that can be extremely problematic
After a full day of failed texts, battery drain, dropped signals, and maybe missed calls (who knows?) I can say for certain that I would not recommend this case to anyone. My messages were failing with 2 and 3 bars of service; I walked out of my office at work and got hit with 7 texts yesterday despite having moderate signal the whole time. I am really hoping this is somehow a fluke, but it seems like the aluminum is just too much. Hopefully the rest of you are having a better experience.
I was going to buy one of these, since i'm nearly to buy a Z5, to change my oldie Z1, I have the bumper for the Z1 and have not problem at all, reading these I see it has a lot of problems so is a shame I love this devilcase, anyone with a good review or its just not worth it to buy one of these?
I got mine just two days ago, it is dark green color. The bumper is really really awesome. Perfectly match with my dark green Sumire
About the losing signal issue, I am seemingly facing the same but it is rarely happened. Just once or twice if I am not mistaken. I wonder if it is really because of the bumper case.

Is the Google Pixel XL as good-looking as you are (despite your receding hairline, adult-onset acne, and massive weight gain)? Rate this thread to express whether you think the Google Pixel XL is attractive. A higher rating indicates that you would even go as far to say that the Google Pixel XL is a beautiful phone.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
looks like a fricken Iphone; thats the only thing I dislike about it so far
lovely device
The device looks much better in person, it's sleek simple and sexy.
I love the device, and the subtle reminders that HTC built this phone, it's been awhile since I owned a uni body aluminum phone and I'm really enjoying it.
Some people don't like that glass on the back, I think it gives it personality.
We picked up an XL for the wife on the weekend... I like it a lot better in person than what you see on a picture. I especially liked the silver edition (I think most people do considering it's basically sold out everywhere).
I don't buy the whole "it looks like an iphone" thing... it's a slab device.. they all look the same.
Maybe the bottom bezel is a little too big, but at least there's no physical button.
The bezel is not has big as it seemed in photos. Very well balanced. I kind of wish the volume buttons were on the other side and higher up. This could be an issue with my car mount squeezing them. If so, I might have to get a magnetic one.
I like the device. It looks utilitarian, something I loved about the Nexus 5. I'm kinda over the glossy, reflected fronts and backs of Samsungs. Both Pixels look unassuming and elegant.
I'm actually on the other side of the fence relative to most of the other comments here. I saw the pics\videos and thought it looked alright, then got mine yesterday and honestly I think it's pretty damn ugly. It doesn't matter much to me personally as I'm going to have it cased up at all times, but I think the shade on the back looks pretty half assed, and it picks up fingerprints like crazy. The bezels are almost exactly the same as an iphone, but it feels larger with no button to interrupt that space. Aside from that I love the phone, but aesthetically it's a meh for me at best.
Paint faded while a case was on, material was a soft rubber. Google claimed this as wear and tear while other users experiencing the same issue received replacements.
2 STARS. Never understood the fascination with how a phone looks. I've always put my phone in a drop resistant case the moment I got the phone, as have many others. Don't want it to break. I wish companies would stop wasting so much time on how it looks and make it perform the damn best that it can.
The Pixel XL's design is a step backwards for Google. Obvious iPhone clone aside, it has a huge bottom area with nothing on it. Why? The back is 1/2 covered in glass. It looks so stupid! Why not make it completely glass. It's like they did something just to make it different, no matter how stupid it looks.
I don't even care that much, put it in an otterbox defender case and I never see the phone anyway. Just the otterbox case.
When I first saw the leaked renders, I was completely unimpressed. But I felt the same about the Nexus 6P and now I love the look of that phone.
I just got the Pixel XL a few days ago (Quite Black). My first thought was it was an obvious iPhone clone. I know, there's only so much you can do with a slab device. But at the same time, look at the Nexus 6P. Look at the S7 Edge. Look at the Moto Z. None of those look like an iPhone. I carry an iPhone 6 for work, and the Pixel XL at first glance looks very much like a big iP6.
That said, the look has really grown on me and I like it. I put a matte clear skin on it from BSE, and I prefer the look of matte over the glossy glass panel. The subtle chamfers on the front and the aluminum and glass construction feel and look like quality. I like the not quite black colors of the Quite Black.
I haven't felt the phone is top heavy, and feels balanced despite some reviews. And it's thin enough that I can put a clear TPU case on it to show off its looks, without making it feel thick and bulky. Actually the case adds just the right grip.
I'll give it four stars for quality, and take the fifth star away for lack of originality in design .
I stuck a Dbrand skin on mine. I like the build quality but am not a fan of the half glass back design. With the skin on I'm satisfied. The phone is well balanced and feels great in hand. I like it a lot. I don't mind the large chin either, helps to make holding the phone in landscape orientation.
2 stars here. I have never held an huge phone like this. Needless to say I absolutely hate the bottom bezel, reaching the top of the display is almost impossible for me for that, other than with two hands. The glass back bit on the back is beyond ridiculous. The texture on the power button is nice, but I don't like that its placed above the volume rocker, and I don't like that the volume rocker is on the same side as the power button. The only thing I liked is the touch of the aluminium on the back, and the device is simple looking, not for them attention whores, that's it. Massive improvements could and should be done in next version.
I don't really blame the "Iphone looking" design cuz I personally it looks more like an HTC phone. The glass back is really concerning because it would be hazardous to use the phone if you drop the phone and the glass back gets smashed. It does look sort of awkward, but it doesn't look horrendous to me. Hey, but the bottom firing MONO speaker that looks like a stereo speaker though :S Apart from that, I really like the phone. I just don't think it should cost that much.

Cost was my main sticking point too. The Verizon went and offered the Pixel for $10/mo and the XL (128GB) for $20/mo. Main problem removed, and now I have one ordered.
Edit: Sorry, $8.33/mo for the Pixel XL 128GB with trade-in of Galaxy S5! Unreal.

I think the glass something to do with improving signal. If not, it's a poor design choice.
I still think it's a good looking phone. It's not quite the iPhone 7 but this and the OP3 and are the best looking droids in my opinion.
Average looking device huge bezels nothing aesthetically pleasing about it.
imobilephonex
The smartphone is truly are beautiful. Awesome
4/5
The only complaint is the bottom bezel. Which I know everyone complains about anyways, but it's really the only thing that I would immediately wish to change about this phone. Everything else is very clean and sturdy build quality wise, a lot of past phones have weird gaps along the display or certain parts wiggle when you flex the device. The metal body goes a long way towards this problem, but I think they really nailed that portion of the phone.

- The best out of those - Nilkin did a great jobe and follow the the back curves. Precision cuts. You need to hold nicely because its not so rubbery. Note 9
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/183176796723
- Good case with a nice style. precisely cuts, follow the back curves. Note 7
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/372276989136
- Horrible - It has protection because its almost like covering your cellphone with a tire. Note 2
Have one of these. Seems like it would take the blow should the phone fall screen first on a completely flat surface. The corners are somewhat hollow which makes them a bit softer than the rest of the case. I guess it's around 1.3mm thick and sticks out 0.65mm above the screen. It seems to provide some extra grip but is not really comfortable to hold. It's cheap atleast.

I purchased the Roxfit Precision Slim Soft Touch Shell. If you like something slim that will provide some minor protection to the back and corners this is a great case. Everything lines up and it doesnt hinder any usage of the fingerprint scanner at all. Its pretty thin so like i said this will probably only prevent minor damage.

and did you maybe get also the curved screen protector?

I did purchase those screen protectors as well. The problem with these is they do not sit perfectly on the edge of the curved part of the screen. Your left with a slightly raised edge that is going to accumulate grime and debris around the border of the screen protector. However it does fit with the slim case and the 2 do not conflict with each other in any way. That being said if your have noticed the screen sensitivity issue at all then your are REALLY going to notice it with this on. I find myself having to hit the same button 2 or more times especially if the part of the screen I am tapping is closer to the edge of the screen. I would only recommend getting this right now if your in desperate need of the protection it may offer. If not then I may hold off until Sony fixes whatever issue is going on with their screen sensitivity.

hi thanks for the answer. I already have glass protector applied, I got the version smaller than the front panel so it covers only the real screen actually, still it has the same problem on the sides coming a little apart and accumulating dust, so I wondered if the curved one would have been better. if it is not I'll stay with the one I have now, thank you!
about the sensitivity problem, I didn't try without the protector, as I applied it as soon as I received the phone, I can fill it sometimes especially when scrolling items, I have to put more pressure than usual, but it is not a so big problem for me atm.
Just ordered these 2 cases and set of screen protectors. Will update when they arrive.
I ordered the two manufactured by Nillkin (the hard plastic, and the flexible ones), I will report back when I get them.
I already have the one that imitates leather, and has a V letter on the back. It's pretty bad in my opinion, make the phone less comfortable, the fit is not great, and it doesn't add any protection to the screen (minimally raised borders). Wouldn't recommend it unless you want to go for the absolutely cheapest.

didn't you return your xz2c because of the screen sensitivity problem? just curious
I did return it, but my device had also a dead pixel. So after I saw the same screen sensitivity issue in the Huawei p20 and p20 pro I started believing that this is an Oreo issue as was explained in some other thread... And I ordered another xz2c
So if Sony doesn't resolve the touch screen issue themselves, probably it will be solved by Google in the next major Android update.
It bugs me, but I can live with it, and I want to believe it will be resolved. Basically I don't see any other phone that will fulfill me in battery life + 2018 SoC + not huge size. My only alternative would be a S9 with lineage OS, but buying an expensive phone with the intention of voiding warranty on day 1 is not a good approach I think.
Probably the Xiaomi mi7 would be a good alternative, but we're months away from its release.
No phone is perfect, so I prefer something that fits my pocket and I don't have to charge in the middle of the day, even if it means a poor gaming experience.

Probably the Xiaomi mi7 would be a good alternative, but we're months away from its release.

well said i agree all points and not to mention s9 users, treble or not, i really don't think will get a fully functioning los, with perfect cam quality like stock etc, or at least not immediately! plus s8/s9 are already too big for me, and TW is not an option at all. mi7 also will be bigger than this one.
yeah I'm following that thread and saw what you guys realized, I'm happy it is not a Sony problem so this is probably going to be sorted out.
I'm really enjoying this phone, not perfect of course but has many pros, and dimensions are wonderful.
will wait for your feedbacks about covers and glasses.. bye!

I thought the same about the S8 and S9 at the beginning, but I ended getting a S8 last year and it's very comfortable in hand, despite the size.
I understand you have different preferences, I don't need my phone to be compacts, but I don't want to be huge. Let's say the S8/S9 is my limit. Something like a Oneplus, the bigger XZ2, etc. would be uncomfortable for me. Maybe I will buy a Mi7 later this year, but I doubt it.
Well the screen protectors were fail, they didn't grip around the curved screen edge at all. The Olixar case sux, it's very slippery and prone to finger prints. I do like the Kugi case, it's grippy and it feels stout and durable. The raised edges also will protect the screen well if u lay the phone screen down.
I got this one: https://www.amazon.com/Colorful-Ult...d=1525256695&sr=8-1&keywords=xz2+compact+case
Really happy with it, great case.
This is the case I got: http://a.co/4iwmOZU
I quite like it and just left a review with photos. I definitely recommend looking at my photos, as the actual product is a little different than the mock-ups. Particularly on the corners.

Does it have raised edges in order to protect the screen? If not, do you use a screen protector?

It does not. I plan to get a glass screen protector once a good one exists.
Olixar FlexiShield
I've tried a Olixar FlexiShield. It fits tight on the phone, creates an edge maybe 1mm above the screen, it's smooth and comfortable to touch and hold.
There's no extra padding in the corners and the buttons become difficult to operate.
for less than 10 €, i'am very satisfy
this one is not realy elegant but give a very good protection for 5€ FPI !
this one is elegant and thin as a 2nd skin
but don't give a big protection for 5€ FPI !
