Why do mid-range phones not have a magnetometer? - General Topics

As the title says, what do manufacturers have against magnetometers ?
For e.g., even the USD 300 Realme 7 Pro does not have a magnetometer.
Anyone who uses, say, Google Maps knows how useful it is. And, AFAIK it won't increase the cost much.
Is there a like good reason for not including a magnetometer?

No one else thinks magnetometers are quite useful ?
Another e.g., Moto G9 Plus. Cost R$2.499 (USD 470 ?). No magnetometer.

Looks like some mid range phones do have a magnetometer/magnetic induction sensor .

Maybe people have forgotten that a phone can have a magnetometer ...
... and how useful it is in, say, Google Maps.

Yeah

I've never had a midrange phone that didn't have a magnetometer. Even my LG G Stylo had one.

EDIT : Correction - Some of the Redmi Note 9 and Redmi 9 models has a "E-compass".

One simple answer...
Cost effectiveness.
Incorporating magnetometer means including more hardware, which requires more hardware/software development as well, which means more money.

To the best of my knowledge, including a magnetometer would not cost much. In a phone costing USD 150+ the cost increase would be insignificant.

My point is, everything a corporation does or doesn't do, is motivated by cost effectiveness, regardless of what you, the customer, believes would be insignificant to their costs or profit margins.

Is a 'Magnetic Induction Sensor' same as a magnetometer?

The answer to that is both yes and no, more of a yes than a no but not a complete yes.

Will it do the job in Google Maps ? That's all I want to know.

Yes, it should.
A magnetic induction sensor is a magnetometer of a sort, but, a bit more specific. A magnetic induction sensor is a magnetometer but a magnetometer is not necessarily a magnetic induction sensor.

[Q] 13MP front camera?

I don’t know why no brand cellphones use high-resolution front camera. iPhone 5, Galaxy S4, HTC One, all use mediocre ones. I thought better front camera was difficult technology, but even such a phone adopts 13MP .
Mod Edit: Link removed )
Why?
Because it is pointless. No real use for one that big

No name, HDC, Star and many others are faking specs.
But there are chinese brands that don`t do that.
Xiaomi for example...
Maybe they forgot to put point between 1 & 3
Because front cam so big, is 'pointless'

If they are so good, why you can`t find them on major chinese mobile forums,
such as Anzhi, Gaojiquan, Mumayi, Ydss, Baidu....?
If they are so good, why major chinese Android OS builders, such as
MIUI, Baidu, Shendu, LeWa.... don`t make roms for that phones?
If they are so good, why so many Clone shops inside Electronic Malls
in Shenzen went out of business recently?

No.This says "Cars can't jump on trains"
And LG don't say "smartphones can't shoot auroras"
Actual UHD shooting
Pretty sure the G Pro 2 has the same camera as the G2, with the only difference being software(and the ability to record in 4K, which the G2 may or may not be capable of).

G2 hardware wise is completely capable. We could also do slow motion 120fps with the snap800. But nobody has added that in yet - and its doubtful that we will see it until someone ports g2 pros software features.

Gyro too depends upon the regions?!!
That's what this threath says https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-6x/how-to/honor-6x-quick-specification-t3534457 . I have the EU model 3GB/32GB and I can say that it has gyro and NFC.
I think all android devices released come with a accelerometer or a gyro of some sort.

Accelerometer is there. But manufacturers are skipping gyro to cut coats. Hoping to see gyro in 6x indian variant.

Considering that accelerometers function on the same principle as gyroscopes on mobile devices. I can understand why some device OEMs are skipping them in favor of accelerometers.
EU version has Gyro but no US version as confirmed on some other thready by someone.

But the gyroscope is very bad. It trembles a lot and is very slow.

These two device have basically the same hardware so the only reason not to implement it is marketing strategy to rump OP6t selling.

Refocusing Bokeh Image

Hey guys, I purchased find x2 pro for 1200 euro few days ago and I noticed there isn't any refocusing bokeh image feature after taking the photo same as my Xiaomi mi 8 which costs 280 euro. Did I miss something?

Apparently you're not missing anything, this is one of the useful features that are missing in the Find X2 Pro.
I like it on my S9+, with the bokeh being artificial, you can edit the strength of the effect (and even the subject in focus) after taking the photo.
It's not possible in X2 Pro.

Hey, thanks a lot for your response : ) It's very frustrating. Is here the main OPPO FIND X2 PRO forum? Are there any developers here to reply to posts as well? Is there any features requests section or any roadmap?
I also noticed another lack of feature, double tap to turn off the screen. This simple feature not exists, however, I added it by installing an app. But really, an app for this simple function on 1200 euro handset?!

None of the companies have main forum? or it's only OPPO? Because I have heard Oneplus has a very active forum.
