My H3223 can't move apps, Is that normal? - Sony XA2 Ultra Questions & Answers

I just recently got this xa2 ultra from ebay, only to discover that it can't move apps from its internal storage to the external. I also flashed lineage os , but the same thing happened.
I tried moving the sdcard to another device, and moving the apps worked.
Tried various types of sdcard fixers in play store nothing worked.
Even lucky patcher didn't work.
I edited the platform.xml to have both external_storage and media_storage, then the phone wouldn't read the sd card
I feel like the phone is just missing some stuff but I don't know what they are. I don't have much knowledge about this stuff, so I'm only trying stuff I see on the internet.

[Q] S3 Clone Phone (i9377) storage

ok so i've got one of those chinese S3 clone phones (i9377, Haipai i think)
the only issue i'm having is when trying to install games, its saying i've not enough memory
there seems to be 3 lots of memory, Internal, Phone storage AND my SD
the games 'additional files' will only seem to save to Internal or Phone and NOT the SD (i know this because my SD has over 12gb free)
i've tried plugging into my laptop and just putting the files IN my sd folder, THEN installing but still having the same issue
can anyone guide me through how i would get the phone to install the additional files TO the SD please?
there IS an option of where to save things to, but again, the choices are Phone or Internal
i can get round most things myself, just this 3 lots of storage has thrown me well off

[Q] Titanium Backup question

Hey all,
Search around, and I have yet to find the answer. Sorry if this is a normal titanium thing, but this is the first time I use it, and, again, for the life of me I can't find something explaining this - not even TB's FAQ.
So I just used it since I had my S3 replaced under warranty. I backed all my apps to an SD card, and when I went to restore them I noticed that the bigger apps got placed on the SD card by default. I didn't want them there, so, no problem, I put the titanium backup folder contents on the device/emulated storage and took the SD card out. I then uninstalled/reinstalled these apps, but thing is, no matter how many times I do this, it says the contents of these apps are mostly on my SD card in the system's Application Manager.
Obviously, this cannot be the case since the SD card is no longer physically in the phone, but I'm very curious and it does bug me a tiny bit - the not knowing/understanding. According to titanium, however, it does say the apps are on the phone itself (it displays the phone icon for the app instead of the SD icon). But yeah, in the Application Manager list, apps like Plants vs Zombies 2, which used to be ~350MB on the App Manager list, now show up as only 25.15MB. When I click for the details (App info screen), I'll get something like:
Total.....................381MB
Application...........24.90MB
SD card app..........354MB
Data......................256KB
SD card data..........1.37MB
I am used to seeing something small in the "SD card data" part for all apps regardless though. Like ones I've installed straight from the Play Store. But never on the "SD cardapp" since I never care to have one in my phone. So, is this just some odd feature of restoring with Titanium? In other words, is this usual? I should mention, all my apps work fine though. Like not missing a single beat save that it just says they are somewhere they cannot physically be. Did I perhaps restore them in some unconventional way (I don't think I did; I just followed a great Youtube tutorial on how to use titanium)? Anyone else's apps display like this sans te SD card? Perhaps I'm worried about nothing, but I'd just like to understand. Thanks!

that is odd, but if the apps are working fine then i dont see a problem. It might just be a bug with TB itself. Also TB does do some compression to the apps it backs up so that might be why that file you mentioned was so much smaller.
It's probably a quirk of the way Google changed the mount pointers to all storage in 4.3 and above. Now all locations are "emulated" in the Android OS. This doesn't always agree with the way individual apps handle storage. Google doesn't really acknowledge "external" SD cards because the hardware doesn't exist on Google devices such as the Nexus 5, 7 ,10 etc.

What did you do to save apps on SDC instead of internal mem?

Hello everyone..
I really hope someone would respond to this post or give me ANY kind of guidance on this issue because since I switched to android and bought GP2 a week ago, I keep asking different variations of this question, on (twice on XDA, and 3 times elsewhere) and not one answer or any kind of response!!!..
I've been trying to find out a way to install apps directly on sd card, if not then to move apps to sd card after installation. I found some information online but some outdated, some vague, and some tried but somehow didnt work.
I rooted my device and tried app manager but it didn't move large apps like games to the SD card (said it did but actually didnt). I also downloaded a game that the uploader said the data folder can be saved on SD card under (android\obb\) but again it only runs when i save the data folder in this location on internal storage, but wont run if saved on sd card.
I'm not sure why did no one respond to my questions, but anyway, I'm not asking any specific question now... I just hope that anyone with couple minutes of free time can talk about how he handled this issue.
Thanks you
I think you need something like FolderMount [ROOT] or so.
You can find it on Google Play.
Apps shouldn't be running on sdcard in the first place. The data folder (obb) on sdcard makes sense but apps on sdcard should be a no go. Didn't even know why Android had that choice at a point of time.

[Q] Lollipop SDcard storage question.

So I bought this Sony Experia Z3 (D6600) Just over a week ago, and was immediately unimpressed with the way
kitkat handled the SD card. ( I forked out for a 64gb card as I was intending to store all my games and media on it )
So after a lot of reading about workarounds, and trying out programs from the play store I came to the conclusion
that it wasn't possible to acheieve what I wanted due to security issues google had implemented with kitkat.
My understanding at this point was that lollipop addressed the issue and allowed installations to be moved to the
external SD Card again, so I have now got a version of lollipop running and rooted. However, when you install a game
or app it still installs some to the primary storage and then moves a portion of it to the external SD card. So currently after
having only installed four or five games I have 2.9gb free on my device memory and 58.3 gb free on the external card.
Kinda defeats the object doesn't it !! Even with everything moved to external card it is going to fill up soon.
So what I am asking (And to be honest I am really surprised I am having to ask it, and it's not something that can't be
set up by the user) Is please please does anyone know I can change my default storage from the phones storage to the
SD card. ( i.e. Swap sdcard for sdcard1 ) So as I do not have to worry about the device filling up so early in life.
I know there is no vold.fdstab or whatever it is anymore, but other than that I have no further info with achieving this on
lollipop. Is there a different file I can alter to swap it, or is a case of needing a different kernel flashed or something?
Any info would really really be welcomed !!
Many thanks in advance

[Q] Want to perform first time root.

So I've looked around the forums, waiting for several months and finally! Finally! Have the Lollipop arrived to my Sony Xperia Z3 Dual, model D6633 with Build Number 23.1.1.E.0.1.
However! I am literally pissed. The only reason I waited was because it was going to add a move to SD card feature. Moved over 13 apps or so. Only to realize nothing was actually moved to my External SD card but to my "Internal" SD card and am now literally facing the problem I've been longing to get resolved for several months. No more space, want to move apps to my SD card. I've had it and want to root my Z3 so I can move some apps to my External SD card. I've heard tons of different opinions and read this and that about the consequences about rooting your Android. I've so far only jailbroken iPhones and that's about it. Never rooted an Android phone.
This time around, I want to give it a shot. What exactly do I need? I just want to simply be able to keep all features intact, nothing special just be able to move apps to my SD card. Is there anyone willing to help me? What do I need and etc.
Regards,
there are plenty of tutorials on here for this sort of question, use the search feature
Searching can be a bother with all the off topic nonsense included and search can often result with more people commenting with "use search", an infinite loop on some device forums.
OP: I'm not sure if lollipop fully supports it but I had this issue in the past and found the best app was Link2sd, as it provided a proper way to store the app data on the external sd card. It's a little complicated and requires root privilege and it also has many other features.
I'm also shocked by sonys failure to provide a proper solution. Have a look, you might be able to make use of it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.buak.Link2SD
