Fully managed Knox phone - Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) Questions & Answers

Hi there!
I recently got a Samsung A8 (2018) from the company I work for, and it is fully managed by Knox Cloud, they can control the whole device if they want to.
The problem is, they have disabled some useful stuff like NFC and Secure Folder, and honestly it's a pain to use with all the limitations.
They don't allow dev settings to be activated, so of course I have no USB debugging. That means no ODIN or ADB if I recall correctly.
Also if you factory reset the phone, Knox FRP takes control as soon as you power it on, so it reinstalls all the management services.
It's a nightmare and I've been trying to work around it to free the device but no luck so far. Idk if I could flash sth via recovery, but I don't know if that will work either.
If anyone could help me get rid of the loop I'm stuck in that'd be great!!
Thank you all!

Cant seem to bypass FRP on Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge no matter what I try

I purchased a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge from a guy off ebay with smashed the screen for a cheap price and recently took it to my local Official Samsung repair shop who repaired it for a reasonable price. I turned the phone on and it had all of the other guys personal stuff on the phone and he had a screen lock on there that I didn't know how to unlock so I did a factory reset in recovery without realising about FRP. When the phone rebooted I get the google screen asking me for the original google account credentials. I have tried contacting him and getting no joy. I have tried all of the methods in youtube but as the phone has the December 2016 security update none of them seem to work. When I plug the phone into my PC windows just says the USB device has malfunctioned and does not connect. I have installed the full Samsung USB drivers but the PC still doesn't recognise it. Could the fact it is not recognised be due to the google frp or could it be to do with the fact the phone could still be damaged from when it was dropped. Im not fussed about the USB port in normal use but it appears the only method to bypass the FRP is via the USB and using one of those methods. Can anyone help please?
I had the same problem and from my understanding all the methods are blocked now I'm trying to find out if theres a way that i just havent figured out yet i've book marked your question and will keep checking back to see if you have had any help
I know it is a tricky subject as I could be in possession of a stolen phone in which case I am rightly being locked out of it but I have the receipt to prove I have purchased it which I am willing to show to anybody who might know a way around it.
Have you tried putting it in download mode then using emergency recovery on Smart Switch?
Yes tried that earlier. Smart Switch doesn't recognise it. Just stays on the screen telling me to connect the phone even though I already have. When I plug the phone into the laptop it says the USB device (my phone) has malfunctioned and Windows doesn't recognise it. I have tried ODIN and that doesn't recognise the phone either as it isn't being given a COM number by Windows. Guess I will have to take it back to the Samsung Support Centre as I paid them to get the phone working and he said the price quoted was to get it fully working. If the USB isn't working then they can repair it!

I've just unlocked a S5 Neo.
I flashed the very first firmware version (5.1.1)
FRP lock still there BUT I could now use the side sync hack or samsung unlock APK on OTG cable.
Then flashed the latest 6.0.1 version
Did you manage to unlock it?
I have the same problem
Any good current methods for this
uninstall all drivers related and kies. Then install kies and needed drivers. See if you can connect via download mode now.

Have a look at my post here... How To Reset FRP (Nearly All Fones From Android 6.x.x to 7.x.x, No Trips, Flash counter inciment, Knox, Still Mode = Official, Warenty 0 (0x0000) (Still working 16 June 2017)
You see, im not all that good with programming APK files, Dalvik VM, Obex, ect, but Linux I'm your man so i figured where is the email/pass info held and is there a switch to keep it on off, ends up one of the easiest hacks i've ever done, no complicates hashed/salted double coded switch, or hard wired switch,
just a very small partition that when or if you have any google account info stored in it you get locked out till you enter the exact same info, so i just dd,d the partition after taking a backup of course lol (; then when the fone booted to download mode i noted FRP=OFF so i flashed the stock bootloader to let the fone boot all the way to video mode and YES!!! it thought it was a new fone never been used before then i check the switches/trips KNOX , device status = official, to test i just made a new google account on the spot on the phone filled all the [email protected] in then voila its working, calls, all menu items ok, official all knox fine, just the way it was when i first got it, except obviously I've upgraded to v7, hopefully this works for you, please dont use or talk about illegall activity with this, or using it for profit, it's agift I gave you's for free so i want it to stay that way, all i want is a thanks, and a beer, lol, no but seriously, when the guy that invented the hammer to ease the effort of pussing nails into wood with you hands, never got hassle about murders with them, tha fact the could be used to rob banks, rob people, damage things, smash up shops, etc so... think about it, all i done was make a tool to help people too. theres litteraly millions of exploits, including android based ones out there just now check, https://www.exploit-db.com/ , OWASP_Vulnerable_Web_Applications_Directory_Project , http://www.exploit-db.com/ , http://www.blackploit.com/ , packetstorm cve etc etc. #
This is a tool to help people how when they first got there fone, and just filled in any old stuff to get into the fun part of the fone. ie "you cannot use [email protected],com as it already in use how about [email protected],com then the password, use one lower case, one higher case, one number , one symbol, more than 12 letters but less than 20, don't use anything you talk about, your name dob etc etc etc , so most people just pick the random one google pumps out and tries random passwords till one goes through, "I've seen this done a few times with my own eyes and had to stop them and explain and this was b4 FRP" Also if you change one letter in your google password, Factory reset your fone, your locked out if the fone never got the change in time, try it, Anyways if people use this for illegal purposes its there evilness there using not mine, there just using my tool as well as the thousand of others in the arsonry, even the OS check out "kali linux OS", "Parrot OS" "Blackbuntu OS"," BlackArch Linux" Also say you code a program to check hashes at a faster rate to speed up logins etc, a hacker will use it to check stolen passwd lists faster, if a faster CPU is made, the first thing a hacker thinks of is how many words/letters it can do a second so they can bruteforce the wifi key of the local bank, hospital etc.... so?
tried EVERYTHING ....
I have the USCellular G935R4 .... S#iiiit , like I've even gotten to the actual HOMESCREEN , but no matter what I do it wont do it.. i can access just about any app and the settings accurately every single time within seconds-mins, even tried flashing it, even had FULL access and control over it using sidesync, and i tried rooting it from oneclickroot on pc but thennnn knox trips and won't let me enable developer options.... And got the error with "sign in using email and password" on quick shortcut maker , PLUS tried everything to fix the error by reinstalling google account manager , etc ...
But NOTHING ...
If ANYONE has any idea how to successfully do get into it , Pplleasee let me know!
???
Seriously ,
I swear , I'll even pay someone ...
Try flashing the phone to the latest MM via odin and try bypassing. I tried it on my G** da** S6 with may 2017 patch. Dowgraded into latest MM and tried different bypass and it worked.

Troubleshooting Android Pay Issue

Does Android Pay on the S8+ involved 'Samsung Pay Framework' in any way? I ask because I'm having problems with Android Pay that I think might have something to do with something I've disabled. Samsung Pay Framework is the only thing I see left that's a possible culprit. I disabled it because Samsung Pay isn't available in my country and I've tripped Knox so I'm not sure I'll be able to use it anyway.
The issue I'm having is strange. Today the phone did nothing while held against a terminal while the lock screen was turned on. When I unlocked the phone, opened the app and tried again, it vibrated and told me to try again. When I did, it succeeded. If it had continued to fail, I'd be way less confused.
I'm rooted with Magisk, but I pass SafetyNet with Core Only Mode on. Netflix etc. work fine.
Any help would be appreciated.

Any developer working on root and knox , samsung pay work as well?

I want to have root but knox and samsung pay making me stay away from root...... please work on this ?
There's a reason Knox exists and why security is tight.
As much as it would be cool to have root and use Samsung Pay, it should not happen because then you won't have Samsung Pay. No banks will ever participate in a service which isn't secure.
Knox and Samsung Pay are easily the most secure of any mobile payment platform so it will never happen.

That's not a very fair attitude to have, is it? Lots of people have spent countless hours of their own spare time, money and effort to get root working on both the Exynos and Snapdragon variants of the S8 and S8+ devices. They don't get paid for doing this either.
But because Samsung have a very tight secure system, that is unable to be bypassed, you're going to leave XDA because you can't get something you really want?
Samsung Pay will never work on a rooted device. It cannot be bypassed. It's very secure. Samsung Knox is DEFENCE GRADE security.
Luckily though, Samsung Pay is the ONLY thing that won't work on a rooted S8. Everything else works.

Maybe you could work on this, since you think it should be done.
I am working on it. But as other posters have said, it is a very secure system and I have limited time and money to make it happen. I fully expect that we will be able to bypass at least some of the Knox security, but these things take time.
why you need root?
I am rooted my device for seen what is the difference in rooted and non rooted device.
But know Samsung secure folder Samsung pay and Samsung pass not working in Samsung phones. Any developer have any method for this to fix only Samsung pass.

Assuming you want to know how to use Samsung Health on a rooted device?
-Open the file build.prop (from /system) in a text editor
-In build.prop file look for ro.config.tima=1
-Change this to ro.config.tima=0,
-Reboot phone
Root with magisk, and or install kingrom v8. Update all, magisk stuff n you'll be fine. Sammy pay works and all other bs ppl use that most rooted ppl don't care to use. Honest reply to your OP sir/ma'am hope this helped.
To be fair, if a person is too lazy to pull out their wallet and pay with cash or card than why own a phone with a feature that further makes the presumably lazy, more lazy? To add a bit more, personally, I don't use 90% of the apps on my phone. Don't even use the finger scanner or eye scanner since they aren't covered by the constitution. Physical passwords I.e. pins, codez and a mix there of are covered but not Biometrics. Sure its cool and secure but I value my true privacy but that's a thread for another time.

Mis-spoke. Knox works and secure folder however Sammy pay no longer works. Not sure why exactly. However android pay still works and that makes me baffled since I'm rooted. Sorry about that.
Never let the lack of 1 or 3 apps keep you from rooting. Best advice I can give anyone.
Yea, Android Pay works, but Samsung Pay doesn't. Never has on rooted device, regardless of Knox spoofed status.

Don't think it's about being lazy. It takes the same effort to pull out my phone as it does my wallet. If you think pulling a card out of a wallet takes effort, then maybe you need to hit the gym. LOL.
For me, I like bells and whistles and technology, so I think it's cool. It's also come in handy the rare times I ledt the house without my wallet, and needed to stop and buy something. It is more convenient, since I can carry my ID and my phone and skip the wallet.
I get rewards points for using it, which I've already cashed in and got free stuff. It tracks my purchases.
I am not lazy, yet use SPay everyday. It would not be worth losing just for root, so I can disable an app or an ad.

Well said! I don't bank online but for me, root is far more than just turning off ads lol...if someone is rooting for just that purpose than they are missing the entire point of it entirly. As for the wallet aspect, that's a gray area. Most ppl I see have their phone out vs the wallet. Even some I see with the phone out do the wallet. I have a friend who's very wealthy and he's always, doing cash or card and never his phone. Even tho the option is there for him to. Convianiant uee, ethical, maybe but not so much. I'd rather have a device that's modded and backed knowing I'm covered vs a,phone that anyone with a brain could hack the POS front of nfc which is pretty easy to do in its own reserve with Skimmers and so on. But this is from a security POV.

[Q] [Nov 2017] Knox - Down sides of tripping it?

I have searched xda and stackexchange to get this answer but have not been able to get a comprehensive list of what all will go if I trip Knox. Some answers were very old so I wanna see what all will I lose now with the latest Knox in my S8+? Some of the things I already know but don't care about losing:
1. Samsung Warranty
2. Secure Folder
3. Samsung Pay
4. Banking Apps
My actual concern is about device security as a whole e.g. if my device gets stolen, then except the data in my Secure Folder being secure, is there any other advantage of Knox too? Like the thief wouldn't be able to boot up or use my phone or anything of the sorts? Or the internal storage would be encrypted and there'll be Secure Boot only with Knox? I plan to flash TWRP too so what all am I going to lose? It would be amazing if we get a complete list of Knox features.
If you disable FRP lock to use root stuff, any thief can simply install a new ROM to your device and get full access as an owner without any protection. If FRP lock is enabled (not rooted), the person who steals your phone has to know your Google account login to use the device, otherwise the phone will be a brick stuck in the setup process. When you get the phone back from the thief, you can login with your Google account and have access to the phone again.
If you want to root, go for it, but I don't really see the point right now. LineageOS is not a daily driver yet (amazing that it exists though!), Note 8 ROMs bring only a few new things like different Infinity wallpapers, and things that required root before (f.e ad blocking) can be now done without root.
My banking app works with root but the finger print option is not available because of root. only thing i do miss is secure folder as that does not work.

Security problem after Dr fone bootloop and hard factory reset. Desperate help needed

So I was going to reset my old s7 and wanted to backup the phone before I erased everything. I kept coming across wondershare Dr fone. Seemed fairly simple and since there were no scam alerts to be found just Quickly browsing I thought i'll give it a whirl. Should have not ran it apparently.
So I connected via usb to Windows and started the program - > Phone instantly gone to download mode and apparently the software is trying to root or set some firmware to gather data - > Software doesnt work and phone stuck in endless bootloop - > recovery mode gives no command but starts after hanging a few seconds 10 or so - > Do a factory reset from recovery and Log back into previous Google Account required so I Do it and do a normal reset - > Reset goes in normal but when setting up clean phone it gives me a Security alerts "unauthorized activity noticed" and deviCe Security guides me to restart phone to reset changes.
Really spooky not knowing what the software did! Can you guys please help me figure out? Didnt find anything on web that indicates Dr fone stealing data or hacking, just ripping Off payments.
- How do I know I'm on stock ROM and nothing suspicious was left on the phone?
- Should I flash stock ROM just in case?
- Can my personal data, passwords etc be compromised if I dont use the phone?
- Could the Windows app itself have gathered personal info somehow. Can I check it out from Log or such?
I was hoping to sell the S7 but dont want anyone to get in trouble with the phone. What do you think I should do. I believe this thread Could help others unlucky Dr fone victims As Well.
Tell me if you need photos. Thanks in advance!

So I found out Samsungs have an efuse that triggers when attempting to root and obviously dr fone might have triggered it. That would obviously also trigger the security alert. Any idea how it actually works? Does anyone know if this can be fixed somehow? The firmware doesn't seem like a custom but how do I know?
Also the windows app seems to have gathered the logs from the attempt and I have them in AppData. Could anyone help me solve if anything suspicious happened if I provide them?
Status update
Reflashing stock ROM fixed the security alert so it wasn't the knox efuse. Odin mode showed:
Binary Samsung Official
System Custom
Knox warranty void 0x0000
After flashing twice it changed back to normal:
Binary Samsung Official
System Official
Knox 0x0000
How is that even possible. No changes made but still changes made? I believe it started to do something and then crashed before knox went off. I have currently absolutely no reason to believe anything suspicious was going on in windows. Ran pretty much everything to scan in safe mode and all logs seemed completely normal, but this "Unauthorized access" in the custom system after factory reset seems a little shady. Checked all the preinstalled apps and they're the same after flashing stock except custom os had "Game optimization" and the official doesn't. I made the conclusion that something really did find it's way there even though that service might have been legit. That or system changes were made and interrupted and security alert because of that.
Reset passwords and using 2 step authentication so I doubt anything really important was compromised for very long. If you are reading this keep an eye out for this type of crapware!
