Hole next to camera bump? Is this normal? - Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Questions & Answers

I noticed a hole or dark spot next to camera hump. I will post some better photos later. But let me know if this is normal?

It's a mic, I believe.

I believe that's one of the microphones.

Zoom In mic first introduced with galaxy Note 10 + it zooms audio while zooming the camera during video recording

Front camera issues

The front camera seems to give really grainy pictures along with some color distortion. Are you guys experiencing the same with your front camera?
Me too
I think I am facing a similar issue. Here are some samples from my phone. can you/others upload some samples from their front camera ?
I think it may depend on the lighting in the room I have had perfect pictures and grainy ones with the front camera

G2X Camera Quality

Hi All,
I'm currently running the latest EB rom and I noticed my video camera quality is awful. The picture is choppy and is no where near HD. My HD7 5mp camera shoots better video and takes better pictures then my 8 MP G2X. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Not many people understand about the camera quality, The higher the megapixel does not mean to the camera quality is better, It is all about the camera sensor inside the camera and that we cannot fix.

That's sad to hear that it cannot be fixed, I figure with such a high end device that the built in camera would be better.

Camera seems perfectly fine to me. Takes nice pictures and good HD recording.

I believe the issue to be software related when it comes to this particular device. I remember the camera quality being much better on Froyo when we had LG's camera app.

Our phone had the best camera out of about 50 smartphones. It's just the battery door which ruins most pictures.
Its because there is no fix for cm based roms with the cam. Try a stock version rom and its perfect for video recording however the lighting on the stock seems to be lower than cm's versions.
I went through this hassle and gave up because I need cm more than the cam lol
Nvidia always!

I hope you know the number megapixels has nothing to do with image quality.
I don't know how much technical stuff you do as far as flashing and everything; if you can do it, flash the Bravia Hack in recovery. It's not a night and day difference, but it definitely helps.

Take a picture then take another without the back on the phone. Compare them and you'll see that the plastic window on the phone's back cover interferes with picture quality.

As the owner of two G2x's one with Froyo 2.22 and the other with Gingerbread 2.33 I can attest that the Froyo supported camera is definitely sharper, clearer and truer color than the same camera under Gingerbread. That being said, if you take time to setup the camera under GB for the particular lighting i.e. fluorescent vs. incandescent etc. it has a pretty darn good camera but still short of the sharpness and clarity of the camera under Froyo. Also advisable to get a good micro fiber cloth to wipe off the grease and oil (that comes from your hands), that inevitably gets the lenses all smudged up. You can really notice that effects the lenses by just trying to get a good bar code scan. Won't do it 'till you wipe the lens clean. If the OP wants a sharp camera more than better functionality and stability from Gingerbread, he could try to revert to Froyo 2.22 and that should give hime a nice camera and a pretty decent smart phone.

Which 2.2 rom are you running? Sod or overheating issues?

Just install LG cam 3.0 through clockwork mod, requires root but its the best camera app for GB in my opinion. It has built in panoramic and stitches them together very nicely and lots of settings!
I also find the camera under exposes in indoor shots. I have to manually set the exposure to + 2 to make it properly exposed.

I'm running EB which runs based off of CM7. I don't think the LG camera is compatible with CM7 roms. Can someone confirm?

you need a lg gingerbread rom for the lg cam
it will not work with anything other than the lg gingerbread roms
I actually just removed the plastic lens from the back cover cause how much it interfered with video in sun light... its easily removed and with any strong glue it'd be simple to place it back on. Very noticeable there was a thread open back in may about that subject where I posted the shots with and with out the lens.

Yeah I put that thread up, I removed the glass on the back of my lens too and there's a huge difference. (less foggy, crisper colours)

From what I've read the LG cam does not work flawlessly with gingerbread. I heard there is a few bugs.

I know this has been discussed before but for any one in disbelief, the glass over the camera lense really does hurt the picture quality. I modified/removed the glass (yes its actual glass so be careful) from the battery door and now I am loving my G2x even more!!!
I took test shots in low light and was more than pleased.

I want to figure out a way to drill/cut out a hole in the glass, so we won't have to completely get rid of it... Just the part covering the camera. This would look so much better.

Camera quality

I really like this phone. I'm trying not to compare it to my HTC rezound. I feel like maybe I'm doing something wrong. The camera and picture quality is not as good as the HTC. Maybe in am missing the settings or something. Could someone help me out?
Thanks

The camera quality has been great for me and i'm using the AOSP camera. If your on touchwiz you can try HDR mode, but i always found the regular picture snapping to be pretty great as well.
I always have poor picture detail on any photo I zoom on. I'm not much of a camera expert though, so there may just be other settings I need to adjust in order to get a better picture for zoomed photos.

I very rarely zoom in, unless i'm using macro mode but in that case i'm practically touching whatever i'm taking a picture of.

I've had my S3 for about 4 months.
I had the SE4GT with Sprint prior.
When I first started using the S3 camera, I noticed the following differences in the pictures taken with the S3 compared to the Samsung Epic 4G Touch (S2) :
- in low light, the pictures were grainy with the S3
- zooming in on a picture already taken with the S3 is less sharp.
- the flash has an over saturating effect on the final image in certain instances. (maybe this can be resolved with a change in setting)
When I first purchased the S3, the above differences were very noticeable. 4 months later, I'm just used to them.
I've read that the 2 cameras are the same.
Maybe the quality issues have to do with Super Amoled vs. Super Amoled Plus on the S2. I'm unsure.
With the above being said, the S3 takes great pictures in the Sunlight. The color and sharpness are really nice.
I use camera zoom fx plus it has neat options here's a sample.
Oh that's my little one in her Halloween costume.

[Q] Camera colouration

Anyone have issues with their Nexus 5's camera having different colours in the viewfinder?
My room has a reddish/pink tint from the neighbours roof reflecting into my room.
Attached photo was taken with my iPad

its whatever camera app that you're using, thats not the stock camera app. try using the default camera app.
Isn't that snapchat? Anyways mine is perfect on snapchat

Happens in stock app/Facebook/Instagram/VSCO cam, I just took this particular photo while I was in Snapchat.
Maybe those apps have poor auto-white balance

Camera noise?

The camera makes a noise when i shake it but doesn't when the camera app is open.
Is this the OIS and normal or should i exchange?
Pretty sure it's the OIS. Mine does that too, I have the regular S7.

Yes I've the same issue. It's the OIS. Same with Galaxy S7 Edge.

It's true, there is a noise only when the camera app is not open (I own a S7E).
But why should a mechanical OIS behave differently for which regards the noise when the camera app is open or closed?
I suspect something else in the camera than the OIS...
It's the OIS. Used to happen in my LG G2 as well. So don't worry

The OIS is powered off when the app is closed, once it the app opens the camera module is powered up the OIS is active therefore it becomes stiffer to start moving when your hands start moving around

What does "powered" and "active" actually mean for the S7/S7E mechanical OIS?

the OIS is mecanisme that moves based on data from gyro in the phone so that it can compensate for your hand shaking. Powered is there is power going into it so that it can move around, and Active is when the app opens, it starts to communicate with the gyro.
