S8 BootLoop - Samsung Galaxy S8 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hey all. First post and I need your help.
S8 randomly restarted and was stuck on the "SAMSUNG" logo screen. Restarted it and it said "applying update" but then "no command" screen with dead robot.
I've tried to factory reset it but "unable to mount drive" appears. I've tried reflashing with Odin. Seeing if I could boot with adb and wipe from there, nothing.
Corrupt drive pops up on occasion and it tries to wipe itself but this message comes up after it fails.
wiping data
formatting /data
E: /sbin/mke2fs_static failed with status 37
E: format _volume: failed to make ext4 on /dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/userdata
no such file or directory
Any help would be appreciated. I dont want to have to pay for a new one.

I was able to reload everything after a NAND erase

Errors trying to Recover HTC Inpsire 4G

Hi. Noobie here. Have a HTC Inspire from ATT. Had it for 2+ years. No problems UNTIL ATT pushed it's latest software update. Now phone is stuck in infinite boot loop. White HTC Screen then Rethink Possible, etc. etc. keeps recycling, then goes black.
Did some research and found a zillion ways to try and recover and flash ROM, wipe cache, etc. Tried factory reset with no luck. Downloaded clockwork 2.5.0.7 and update cm 7.0.0 DesireHD signed zip files and copied to SDcard.
When I boot phone with vol - power mode and do recovery choice I get red triangle, then I do Vol + Power. Then I get Android system recovery <3e>. With these errors:
E: Can't read /misc
(I/O error)
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E: set_bootloader_message-block: emmc_read-data fail !
E: Can't mount /data/data/recovery/log
E: Can't open /data/data/recovery/log
E: set_bootloader_message-block: emmc_read-data fail !
Then when I choose "Apply update from sdcard" I get
Invalid operation and more errors which I can't read fast enough before screen goes black.
Soooo I think it means that phone can't "see" SDCard OR those particular files are missing OR I'm doing something wrong (wouldn't be the first time
I really want to see if I can recover this bricked phone even though I know my data is toast at this point.
Anyone have any ideas or input would be greatly appreciated.

Stuck at boot animation after installing factory image

Hi there
I wanted to install the Android L developer preview on my Nexus 5. For this I had to unlock the bootlader because it was still locked. That worked fine.
I then downloaded the Android L image for my Nexus 5 tried to install it, got stuck at the google logo and then thought to just roll back to Android 4.4. So I downloaded the factory image from google, switched into fastboot mode, and executed the flash-all.sh script (running on Ubuntu). That seemed to work, device restarted a few times but got stuck on the boot animation logo again.
I wanted to switch into recovery mode to wipe the cache, but the red triangle appears. As quick solution, I just downloaded the clockworkmod-recovery and installed it using the fastboot flash recovery clockworkmod.img command. That worked, I was able to get into the clockworkmod recovery, wiped everything and restarted, but I'm still stuck at the boot animation.
While wiping I had the following messages in the log:
Code:
Formatting /data
Error mountin /data
Skipping format
Formatting /cache
Formatting /sd-ext
E: unknown volume for path [/sd-ext]
Formatting /sdcard/.android_secure
Error mounting /sdcard/.android_secure !
Skipping format..
Data wipe complete.
When rebooting from clockworkmod it asks me if I want to root my device because it seems to be unrooted. I've tried accepting and declining that message, but I can't still boot up my device. Anyone got any idea what might be wrong here?
Thanks alot!
Edit: Allright, somehow, after hours of spending with reflashing, it seemed to work. I can't remember to have done anything special. Only thing I did different was that I executed every command from the flash-all.sh by hand instead of executing the flash-all script.

[Q] [HELP] S6310N frozen during boot up

My S6310N refuses to complete boot up, after trying quite a few ROMs stays frozen during booting. Even giving me errors in the recovery, are the kind Unable to mount '/ data'.
This is the error log during wipes on TWRP recovery: i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q655/obiwan2208/zx.jpg
For the rest I can flash with Odin stockROMs and TWRP, but after the Samsung's animated logo leaving the SAMSUNG letters flashing and stay frozen there.
I tried to make wipes and although do something, continue without mount 'storage', '/data', etc.
Also with Odin I checked the option "Nand Erase All".
Has been corrupted the file system? Must to be formated somehow? Any fix will be welcome. ThnX
Fixed by myself
It's done
As I see the smartphone can't mount '/data' I played with TWRP recovery and I formated 'data' partition.
Then for be more sure and works I checked out making one wipe (before gave errors) and it's OK: any red text.
Right now I'm flashing stockROM, TWRP, SuperSU... :victory:
Seems that 'data' partition was kept corrupted despite had to flash stockROMs

Bricked device? TWRP not booting after E:recv error on uevent while formatting

I installed TWRP. When trying to install Magisk it "Failed to mount '/data' (Invalid argument)" and "Unable to mount storage". The same happend while trying to backup. As mentioned in some other threads (like here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-7neHzSIvc) I tried changing the File System to exFat. (And back to ext4 afterwards) I was stuck in Formatting... screen with "Formatting Data using mkexfatfs... Done." for like 2hrs or so. After that I got "E:recv error on uevent" multiple times.
After 8hrs of waiting, I rebooted. Now I just get to the TWRP starting Screen. Odin Mode is still working, so I tried flashing TWRP 3.1.1.0. Stuck in boot screen, too.
SOLUTION: I just flashed back Stock-Rom.

[XT 1040] won't boot, can't factory reset, can't install TWRP [please help]

my phone wasn't booting so i unlocked the bootloader and reinstalled android 5.1, now when i try to boot into recovery mode it says "no command"
if i open the recovery menu to try to wipe the disk and factory reset it fails
it says:
qr 0/0
- Wiping data...
Formatting /data...
E:
blkdiscard on partition /dev/block/pla
form/msm.sdcc 1/by-name/userdata failed
ormatting /cache...
E:
blkdiscard on partition /dev/block/pla
form/msm_sdcc. 1/by-name/cache failed
-- /Wiping clogo...
Data wipe complete.
Click to collapse
if I try to wipe just the cache partition it gives me:
--Wiping cache...
Formatting /cache
E:
blkdiscard on partition /dev/block/pla
form/msm.sdcc.1/by-name/cache failedCac
e wipe complete.
Click to collapse
i also tried installing TWRP and removing the boot warning about the unlocked bootloader, but despite saying it was installed ok seems the phone just ignored or discarded it because nothing happened when i installed these.
please help!
when i try to boot in any mode other than recovery it hangs on the boot splash and vibrates once.
