Hi there
I wanted to install the Android L developer preview on my Nexus 5. For this I had to unlock the bootlader because it was still locked. That worked fine.
I then downloaded the Android L image for my Nexus 5 tried to install it, got stuck at the google logo and then thought to just roll back to Android 4.4. So I downloaded the factory image from google, switched into fastboot mode, and executed the flash-all.sh script (running on Ubuntu). That seemed to work, device restarted a few times but got stuck on the boot animation logo again.
I wanted to switch into recovery mode to wipe the cache, but the red triangle appears. As quick solution, I just downloaded the clockworkmod-recovery and installed it using the fastboot flash recovery clockworkmod.img command. That worked, I was able to get into the clockworkmod recovery, wiped everything and restarted, but I'm still stuck at the boot animation.
While wiping I had the following messages in the log:
Code:
Formatting /data
Error mountin /data
Skipping format
Formatting /cache
Formatting /sd-ext
E: unknown volume for path [/sd-ext]
Formatting /sdcard/.android_secure
Error mounting /sdcard/.android_secure !
Skipping format..
Data wipe complete.
When rebooting from clockworkmod it asks me if I want to root my device because it seems to be unrooted. I've tried accepting and declining that message, but I can't still boot up my device. Anyone got any idea what might be wrong here?
Thanks alot!
Edit: Allright, somehow, after hours of spending with reflashing, it seemed to work. I can't remember to have done anything special. Only thing I did different was that I executed every command from the flash-all.sh by hand instead of executing the flash-all script.

I am a relatively new android user but do enjoy flashing roms, kernels etc
My problems began when i was trying to flash a new rom on my Nexus 5
I was trying to flash this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2655722 but despite doing a factory reset and wiping the dalvik cache and cache it refused to boot in to the new rom
I tried to flash the rom multiple times but without success, eventually when trying to boot into recovery to try again i was greeted with an unthemed TWRP recovery asking for a password despite the fact that i had a custom theme and multirom installed I tried to proceed anyways but was greeted with E: unable to mount storage
In desperation i tried to solve this problem and found this

TWRP asking for password
After unboxing my Nexus 5, here's what I did:
1. Booted into bootloader
2. fastboot oem unlock
3. Flashed TWRP v2.6.3.0
4. Booted to recovery
The screen that greeted me says "Please Enter Your Password".
I can hit the cancel button below this which takes me to the normal TWRP screen. I then pushed SuperSU to /sdcard, but when I flash it it fails because it's unable to mount /cache or storage.
When I reboot to the system, it takes an awfully long time (approximately 30s) to progress past the "Google" screen, and then it just seems to sit on the booting animation forever.
Any help?
EDIT: Solved my own problem.
Hit cancel at the password screen, then go into Wipe and then do a factory reset by swiping. Then go back into Wipe and press the 'Format data' button. You have to type 'Yes', and it will take a few seconds. After that everything should work normally.

I now fear that i maybe without both a rom and all my files such as my music that was stored on my phone.
Is there any way for me to undo the damage i may have done to to my phone?
You can't recover the data. But you can push files over with ADB.

hello there, i have a serious problem:
i had my a510 with unlocked bootloader and had the CM11 rom installed...so far, so good: all of a sudden when reading a PDF, it shut down, rebooted, went into a bootloop showing the acer logo.
i had also CWM installed, tried EVERYTHING there to erease cache and stuff like that..nothing worked it started flashing a different rom...no success...
i´ve already installed TWPR 2.7.0.0....worked until the point where i wanted to install a new rom...installing works, saying "successful" but in the lower left corner it says:
E: error opening ' /data/tf '
E: error: I/O error

can anybody help me please?! this is driving me insane!!
EDIT1:
i tried formatting DATA....after 5 minutes still no luck....it keeps "formatting data". could this be the reason for everything?!
EDIT2:
adb shell
recovery --wipe_data
did the trick!!!! i went back to TWRP, wiped DATA, no errors in /data/tf this time...clean installed CM11...and now it works again
Try to flash back CWM, format every partition (via the advanced menu)
and then flash a ROM like CM11

i have tried that...it didn´t work....it was stuck formatting...same went with TWRP....
only moving to ADB and sending the --wipe data helped me.
So I tried flashing CM 12.1 on my Moto G (2013) and it had an error on flashing:
Code:
Detected filesystem ext4 for /dev/block/platform/msm/sdcc.1/by-name/system
Patching system image unconditionally...
blkdiscard failed: Invalid argument
E:Error executing updater binary in zip '/sdcard/cm-12.1-20150429-NIGHTLY-falcon.zip'
It shouldn't do that, I'm not sure why it didn't work. I wiped the system, cache, and data partitions beforehand.
I'm on a Telus XT1032 that I have converted to GPE.
I tried downloading an older nightly, verifying the md5sum, and trying that, same error. I read that for GPE you need to convert the data partition to F2FS from ext4, so I did that. I actually tried a number of different fielsystems for data, system, and cache. Nothing worked.
I flashed a gpt.bin partition table file from XDA that was supposed to fix things, and then the "unmountable" problems started happening. At first data wasn't mounting, but the others were.
Now I've got system as ext4 and cache+data as f2fs. I tried this, which resulted in the data partition being unmountable by TWRP. So I decided to just try to get my stock ROM running again, (Telus 5.02 ROM), using the instructions based on an XDA thread which I can't link since I just made an account (fastboot flash boot.img, system.img_spacechunk.0, etc) and it's stuck at the boot logo screen, and TWRP says the cache and system partitions could not be mounted.
I've made a reddit thread on /r/motog which I also can't link. I thought I'd mention it in case it had any more information that could help, though I've tried to put it all into this post.
If I try to turn it off, it just turns on again and gets stuck on the boot logo, but I can access fastboot and TWRP. I just want something to boot on it.
Can someone help me completely re-image my phone to fix any partition table stuff and format the partitions as the right filesystem and get it to boot?
I tried flashing the latest CM 12.1 nightly zip again, it said the cache wasn't mounting and failed. I reformatted cache as ext4 and retried it again, and it seemed to work.
It works now, though I'm not 100% sure what I did. How do I close this topic?

the same problem as yours.I feel so confusing..
Hi everyone,
I have a XT1032 with a loop boot (It hangs everytime on the Motorola logo).
First of all I was unable to enter into the recovery mode. And I've unlocked the mobile with the motorola code and flashed with the stock recovery. After that I was able to enter into recovery mode.
I've tried to install a ROM via adb sideload but at the 60% always failed and says me that the package couldn't be validated.
I've tried to wipe the data/cache, also I tried to format the partitions (with cache It has gone OK but formatting the userdata partition tolds me that was unsuccessful due blkdiscard errors)
After that I've tried to flash a new recovery (TRWP and CWM) but unfortunately always said the mismatched partition size error, and It's impossible to flash any recovery (only worked with the stock).
Any idea to recover my XT1032?
Thank you!
My S6310N refuses to complete boot up, after trying quite a few ROMs stays frozen during booting. Even giving me errors in the recovery, are the kind Unable to mount '/ data'.
This is the error log during wipes on TWRP recovery: i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q655/obiwan2208/zx.jpg
For the rest I can flash with Odin stockROMs and TWRP, but after the Samsung's animated logo leaving the SAMSUNG letters flashing and stay frozen there.
I tried to make wipes and although do something, continue without mount 'storage', '/data', etc.
Also with Odin I checked the option "Nand Erase All".
Has been corrupted the file system? Must to be formated somehow? Any fix will be welcome. ThnX
Fixed by myself
It's done
As I see the smartphone can't mount '/data' I played with TWRP recovery and I formated 'data' partition.
Then for be more sure and works I checked out making one wipe (before gave errors) and it's OK: any red text.
Right now I'm flashing stockROM, TWRP, SuperSU... :victory:
Seems that 'data' partition was kept corrupted despite had to flash stockROMs
