Pixel 4a Lineage OS or GrapheneOS build - Google Pixel 4a Questions & Answers

Hey does anyone know if the P4a is gonna get an official release of LineageOS or Graphene OS?

The phone literally just released, no one knows anything yet.

I'm happy to volunteer my device as a guinneapig for LineageOS testing specifically.

From Grapheneos site: Support for the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL is currently less mature, but those along with the Pixel 4a (once it's supported) will become the recommended devices due to longer support and incremental security improvements for the device support code and firmware.

any news on lineage for pixel 4a?
ok so its been a few months. there are plenty of articles talking about lineage support for EVERY google device except for the pixel 4a. i keep checking lineage website but nothing. anyone heard anything? @razorloves? it seems strange.

CalyxOS is available. It is very similar to GrapheneOS in that it doesn't include GApps and you can relock the bootloader. One big difference is you can choose to install MicoG during install.
I've been using it since I got my 4a a couple of weeks ago and it has been a better experience than Lineage OS on my One plus 5

CalyxOS?

i thought i have been paying attention but i hadnt heard of Calyx or Graphene until this thread and a few others like it. im not married to lineage but i liked their leaving out a lot of google code. is it possible to do an alternate micro install just of play store functionality like in Lineage in the Calyx firmware? why arent Graphene and Calyx mentioned in the images and firmwares part of the XDA pixel 4a thread?

GrapheneOS is out for the 4a!

Since dirty Unicorns will no longer be available for the 4a and I would like to try Android 11, I wonder whether the current Calyxos is on Android 11 or is it still A10 ?
If so, can someone write a comprehensive guide on how to install CalyxOS on the 4a? I can't get along with the instructions on the Calyxos website

Lineage 18 is somewhat happening. Just a test build but it's stable

I currently have Calyx installed with MicroG and is working well. I am toying with the idea of moving to Graphene so to test the apps I have are compatible. If I disable/remove the apps relating to MicroG, I need to know which ones to do. I'll probably disable them 1st and run for a week and then remove altogether and then move over to Graphene if it works.

I want to install cyanogenmod 12 or higher, I can get on recovery mode on the above right it is saying "exdroid4.4.2_r2-a33v2.1", so what should I do?
Just FYI, Cyanogenmod is abandoned. Its successor is LineageOS.
Then how can I install LineageOS, I prefer Cyanogenmod though... But how can I install a custom rom on such a tablet?

My knowledge here is quite limited however I believe you need a ROM developed specifically for your exact model otherwise a lot of work and technical knowledge is required to create one. I haven't been able to find any information on custom ROMs for bitmore devices, given that it is not a major brand and seems to have very limited distribution you may be out of luck. Custom ROMs tend to be created my the more technically skilled people who do so voluntarily and I would assume require a device of their own for development and testing. All I can suggest is to ask in one of the more general forums if anybody is aware of and existing ROMs for that particular device.

Some advices to an Android boomer ?

Hello @ all,
My last droid was and HTC HD2... I'm now back at it with the OnePlus Nord & I know you guys can help me about finding the best setup, so if someone have some answer to these topics it will be very appreciated :
** Lineage vs Oxygen ? **
Going back from iOs to Android felt very familiar, even with years. I am really not some "phone focused" person so i do everything with computers. But having something nice & fast was still necessary after using my 6S to the maximum from 2015 to 2021. OnePlus convinced me.
I really enjoy the Oxygen UI, but reading you guys about some bloatwares in the build make me think about Lineage. I was thinking about some compromise to install Oxygen Launcher on it, but i think i will also lost some native functions. (?)
** unGoogling ? **
I need some Google Tools like Drive and Gmail, but, what do you think of it, especially if you are a OnePlus Nord User ? I don't feel bad about giving data if it is the less as possible.
** Rooting, Privacy & apps ? **
Have you some good advices, even a reason to prefer Signal to Telegram. Common tips, Feedback about Guides, Plus / Cons of rooting a OnePlus Nord...
** Performances & battery ? **
I remember about tweaking my HTC cpu to be at lowest frequency when screen was off, are these types of tweaks still necessary ? ^^
** Any other related links that i did'nt noticed yet ? **
May I find the balance with your help
Thank you for reading me & nice to meet you guys!
*update*
rooting done with magisk
added root utilities
safetynet fixed

i am now discovering the stock rom with more control.
next: build versioning? lineage microG? apk cleaning? dual boot?
[interresting find]
*update*
i have unbloated the stock rom using Root Uninstaller (disabled apps & rebooted) [where i found the apps to delete] everything is really fine.
[...]
*update*
Updated from 10.5.10 rooted to 11 beta 3 after factory reset. Unbloated it with adb script. Rerooted with magisk flashed in TWRP (had to find somewhere to put zip during OTG mount).
Patiently waiting TWRP back-ups.
1 year later, I'm gonna sell my OP Nord & I pre-ordered some S22+
That device is still really good & was exactly what I needed but I managed a good price on the Samsung.
During this year, I kept Android 11 beta 3 without any update, I tweaked it so the UI was smooth and the battery last long time.
Here are the tweaks used :

Question It's almost 2023, how is the custom Android 12 ROM landscape nowadays?

Earlier this year I bought myself a Note 10 Pro and I tried a custom Android 12 ROM. I found out that after installing Android 12, it would relock either the recovery or the bootloader. I forgot what exactly, but TWRP would not work anymore after installing 12. Getting Viper4Android or Magisk on it after flashing a 12 ROM was a headache. It was stuck somehow but I managed to get OrangeFox on it and then wiped everything, which allowed me reinstall Android 11. I'm still using 11 and am quite happy with it.
I wonder if anything has changed. I am looking to get a Note 12 Pro and I wonder what your experiences are with it in regards to the use of custom Android 12 ROMs, especially Viper4Android, which I can't do without. A quick search says TWRP is still working on 12 support.. and that is from a news post back in June..

VoLTE and 5G seems to be working OOB for unsupported carriers (that needed Magisk modules to make it work). Is it going to receive OTAs or do we have to flash each time from PC?
SafetyNet seems to pass without locking the bootloader

OTA's are a work in progress at the moment, they are planned but for now it's best to use the web flasher to update.
Giving this a run - the web-installer worked great and I'll get some feedback tomorrow. On the telegram as well.
Hey I've flashed this a couple of days. I could not found anything special or worth moving to as a custom ROM.
Can you please explain your stance ?
Been a while since I've messed with custom roms but I tried one earlier where it relocked the bootloader after flashing but this one did not. Can I manually relock or will it break things?
