Mi note 10 lite cons - Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite Guides, News, & Discussion

I've had my note 10 lite for a month now.
I really regretted buying that phone.
There are a lot of bugs.
1. Updates for the global version are already late, what will happen in the future ???? Disaster, all older models received updates, brand new is not.
2. Fast typing on the keyboard is almost impossible
3. High battery capacity: in reality, the battery drains very quickly in standby mode
4. WiFi signal strength and speed is twice weaker as on my old redmi 5 plus phone
5.Apps like Chrome and YouTube are constantly crashing
6.Proximity sensor issue
7. It is impossible to buy quality tempered glass for that phone.
8. the fingerprint sensor works very poorly

1) True, this phone needs more updates. Software isn't optimized. I have lots of lags when swiping
2) no problem i type extremely fast on this phone
3) battery usage is excellent. Very low battery drain. I avoid AOD because it drains more battery
4) Normal reception and i had the same phone as you did
5) YouTube working fine. Chrome freezes from time to time. Phone lacks optimization as i said in n1
6) it was fixed for me in last updates
7) only silicon screen protector works i think, which is better against shatters but scratches more easily. I have mixed thoughts about it.
8) you can't expect under display fingerprint sensor to work amazing like a regular one. Every phone like that. I added the middle of my thumb as FP instead of the top of the thumb and it improved registration of FP unlock for me.
It's good phone, even notifications i managed to fix by playing in settings and locking some apps. My biggest problem is longevity, the phone already lags and it lacks 5g support. If poco f2 pro wasn't that overpriced back when i needed a new phone i would've preferred this one. But it's still a solid value phone and the screen is just excellent.

Thanks
Thanks for some tips to improve experience on that phone

1. Did xiaomi promise you update by this day? No. Update is coming. Its not a disaster, and its certainly not a bug.
2. No problems here
3. No problems here
4. I only have ~200mbps connection, but i get that in both 2.4 and 5ghz. No problems here
5. I dont use youtube, so wouldnt know, but chrome is working fine here.
6. I read about some proximity sensor problems, but that was a month ago. It was supposedly fixed in update. I make and recieve 10+ calls a day, havent noticed it missbehaving.
7. Oh yeah, thats a bug for sure lmao.
8. Fingerprint sensor works perfectly fine. Keep in mind, its an in screen one, you cant compare it to capacitive one. As far as in screen readers go, mi note 10 lite is average. Its not the fastest, its not slowest either.
Anyways, to each their own i guess. Goodluck with your next device. I bought this together with redmi note 9 pro, after some testing i liked note 10 lite way more, gave rn9 pro to girlfriend.

1. Didnt care, I care more about custom ROMS which doesn't exist yet.
2. I can never type fast on touch screens so.....
3. Totally agree. Im beginning to suspect is it because of the always display on (i need it for notifications) or is it im using Nova Launcher. "SYSTEM" always show high batt usage.
4. Agree, my previous Mi6, Note8pro have no issue in my own room, but this Mi10Lite have wifi issues once I close my door.
5. No problems, maybe coz i'm on Custom Rom.
6. Agree
7. Didnt really affect me on that.
8. Agree... coming from dedicated FP sensor at the back of the phone, I did read that this is normal. None of the on screen FP scanner will perform as well as a dedicated scanner at the back of the phone.
Verdict? I should have gone for the RMN9Pro...

1. A bug??? It is not a disaster. It will be released when ready. I do not want a half finished ROM.
2. Not a problem here. Maybe practise?
3. Pulled the charger in the evening. 7h 45m later it was at 99%. Perfect! 150+ apps, wifi on.
4. I get 300 Mbps sitting about 6 m from the router with a ceiling/floor in between.
5. I have problems with Chrome freezing. Choosing it from recent apps fixes that but definitely a bug. Both beta and stable.
6. Have not noticed that. Just checked and it works fine. I don't call much without head-set though.
7. Don't know. Would not use it since I guess the fingerprint sensor will be worse.
8. Same here but I can only compare with Redmi Note 5 which has a capacitive sensor and I really miss that so I do not know if this phone is worse than other with screen sensors. From what I here it is not.
Edit: Added battery drain info. 1% for almost 8 hours.

1. Not a bug! It's just a matter of the coming months. I'd rather wait a month longer for a polished update to MIUI12 than get it now with a lot of bugs and wait 3 months for patches. Are you in hurry? Install xiaomi.eu when it comes out.
2. Maybe for someone with tiny hands. No problem here.
3. No problem with battery drain BUT it could be better optimalized.
4. No problems with WiFi. Try to change your router configuration (like CHANNEL).
5. I don't use Chrome but YT works perfectly - no crashes.
6. Same here - waiting for a patch.
7. I'm using hydrogel screen protector.
8. That's not so bad, it's fine for me. Try to add finger again.
The only con of this phone which I noticed is the loudspeaker that plays average (low and flat sound).

Which rom are you on? Global (Mi) or (Eu). Bcoz 1% standby battery drain in 8 hours is insane! Its really good.
And do share your charging pattern. Do you charge your phone from >10% to 100% and do you charge it over night? Have you done any sort of calibration. Just give me some advice how can i improve the battery drain.

Global ROM
I always charge during the night regardless of what percentage I’m on.
Here are a few charges. All numbers are approximate but within 5 min and 2%.
It shows that I should probably start charging every other day instead of every day.
10=>100% 60 min
60=>100% 30 min
48=>100% 35 min
53=>100% 30 min
62=>100% 30 min
I have done nothing to lower drain so I can unfortunately not give you any advice at all.

Main drain on this device is Always on Display. People expect AOD and 2% drain over night. Thats not possible. Turn it off, then you will get 2% drain overnight.

1. It is true, to be a new mobile it is already a little late miui 12
2. No problem
3. I think the duration is good, it only drains when I play heavy games or constant use of the mobile
4. No problem
5. No problem
6. I have this problem in calls, sometimes I think it is because it is dirty in that part and the sensor does not work well
7. I bought 2 hydrogel lenses from aliexpress (I installed the first one very badly) but it is good, it seems that you have nothing on
8. No problem, the sensor looks good to me, my wife has the MI 9 and it works just as well.
In general I think it is an excellent team, I hardly see anything bad, I come from an MI 9 that broke (my fault) but I highly recommend it 9/10

I love the device. What i don't love is the curved screen, but i wouldn't love that on any phone. So for my next device, flat screen is a must. Battery lasting me 2 days easy. Don't have to charge it often, and the battery will last longer. Overall excellent device.

I always tried to get phones with clean android (or as close as possibble) and looks like MIUI, despite 12 iterations, is still full of bugs. I have EU global version bought from retail store and I have mixed feelings about the phone:
PROS:
- nice amoled screen that cover almost all front of phone
- jack 3,5 mm and NFC that are sometimes missing in other phones
- excellent battery time for me (up to 10h SoT with 2 days usage, lately, when I don't used phone that frequently, I get from monday to friday on one charging, so standby time is more than adequate)
CONS:
- maybe it's my inability to set it up correctly, but for gods sake, it's one of basic Android features - notifications - it works dreadful. Apart from smses that I can hear, the rest just doesn't work properly - there is no sound, there is nothing on blockade screen (despite allowing all of them to be shown) and I can only see the icons when I open phone to main screen. It shouldn't work like that.
- proximity sensor sometimes doesn't work, I couldn't find the reason for that, probably just a bug...
- edged screen is not the best idea - movies looks strange on those edges, it's not easy to apply screen protectors, but at least I haven't got any accidental touches resulting in unwanted actions.
- Chrome indeed freezing completely from time to time - you need to use multitasking screen and go back to be able to use the app again. I use Vanced as YT, so can't say about freezing in YT.
- fingerprint reader is crappy - I used one below the screen (Moto Z Play), on the back (Zenfone 6) and on the side (Moto Z Play 3) and that under the screen is very difficult to use - it works around 6/10 times and only if I touch it directly, no way to read part of the finger - only direct touch in the exact center of the reader.
- wallpaper change works only from MIUI menu, other 3rd party apps (Google's Wallpapers, Walloid, WalP) can't apply blockade screen changes, only home screen.
- ****load of apps I can't uninstall irritating me - I really like apps I use for years and right now I have at least 20+ apps I would like gone, but I can't.
Most of cons can be eliminated with software fixes, but I'm afraid that if they couldn't done it with 11 MIUI iterations, 12th version won't do much in that case...

These are my impressions, and I've just bought this device, so I dont know anything about previous bugs on Miui 11.
In my opinion, this is classic Xiaomi phone, and that means it's affordable, has great features....but Miui always has some bugs, which are really annoying. Every single Xiaomi I had (and there were lot's of them) had some minor problems. But I always end up buying one with modifications/debloating/custom roms in mind. My last 4 Xiaomis had problems with battery life...although they had 4000+ mAh batteries....My opinion is: If you're planning to buy one, and use it straight out od the box...don't bother, it's much better to buy slightly used Huawei (although I dont like EMUI looks, it's much smoother, and their battery life is excellent)
Cons:
1) Camera quality is cr*p....it's ok in good lighting only
2) Lack of proximitiy sensor is really a dumb decision, and it's really annoying when you cannot mantain phone calls like u shoud
3) Fingerprint sensor is also bad, it's not better, maybe even worse than Redmi K20's, which was released 1.5 yrs ago
4) Miui 12....what's with all the fancy animations? Who needs that anyway??! Although I have to admit it's more fluid than Miui 11, which was really awful.
I managed to sort most of the annoyances by flashing Xiaomi Eu 12.0.3.0 and dedbloated it heavily. Miui dialer app is much better than Google one, battery life is also better, and camera is acceptable with Gcam from Nikita. I also noticed proximity sensor problem is gone, all is working ok now.

Is Mate 9 battery actually rubbish? Honest thoughts please

Hi guys,
Background: I use my phone I'd say medium use. Clash of clans, videos and photos browsing, emails, whatsapp. But i hate to put anything off so 4G location bluetooth everything always on. My note 4 has been amazing with its removable battery allowing me to use a phone in this way amd has revolutionised the enjoyment i get out of it. No more switching on and off bluetooth or gps. No worries in the world. Now i need a new one with a big screen and decent enough cam and the only option with removable battery is the LG V20 which to be fair looks a decent phone. However I also see the Mate 9 and whilst it doesn't have removeable battery it has a sensible screen res and a 4000mah battery meaning it should last a full day no worries. And I prefer the faster Kirin 960 and the bokeh camera setup.
The issue: i was on the verge of ordering it when I came across techzillas 1 month review where basically trashes the battery. Yes he's a heavy user but he's comparing it to other phones which do better with his same use.
I don't understand. Is it his firmware? Has the issue been sorted? Is the battery not that great afterall? Id be buying from wondamobile so id be getting whatever international rom they use. Shall I just play it safe and get the lesser V20 if I'm going to keep all things on?
For me it seams that with the b156 firmware the battery is not as good as before. But still excellent I use my phone a lot and most of the time I manage a full day with out charging. I get around 8 hours screen time. I never play games on my phone but use it mostly for productivity and browsing. Occasionally I watch some movies , YouTube and listen to tidal.
Most of the time I use very low brightness as I prefer this for reading.

Ah.. I'm new to this of concept of SOT. I don't know how it works. I can't imagine anyone sitting there staring at their phone literally for 8 hours! I work in the day and use it every now and then there, then when home when the wife isn't having a spazz at me for daring to go on the phone I use it now and then for using Kodi remote and youtube etc... I don't know how much screen on time that'd equate to.
Do you keep all things like bluetooth and GPS and 4G on or do you have to be careful with it like with all my old phones in order to get a full day? With my Note 4 as I say a breath of fresh air that I could keep everything on and just change battery once I got home.
Everything is on, during the day I mostly use 4G. The reason I get between 6 and 8 hours is because I have to do a lot of emailing and maintaining appointments etc for my work and blackberry hub is so good in emailing (mush better than the outlook my company uses) I use my phone for that instead of my laptop. Also I do lots of reading both work an pleasure related.
If i have slow days I can manage two days on one charge easily. In short the mate 9 has an excellent battery. I'm never thinking about the battery as I did with my old phones it seems to be even better than my old BlackBerry Passport
It's the best battery life of any phone I have used. Mine is on 4g all day with GPS and bluetooth always on.
My previous best phone was the Note 4 that I had to charge every night. I only have to charge the Mate 9 on alternate nights however hard I use it.
I have other issues with the Mate 9, but the battery is certainly not one of them.

As above, I'm surprised it's this good after the techzilla trashign of the battery on youtube. You wouldn't know yur firmware would you?
What are your issues with it? I hear low light cam performance isn't excellent but it isn't great with my Note 4 either and I can't imagine it's ever satisfactory with the size of lens you can get on any phone. I'm looking to use the Bokeh effect for nice pics of my daughter, is this bit at least working well?
--
It certainly seems from what you guys are saying that this beast will live from morning to evening without even needing a charge for my sort of use even with everything on. Sounds really awesome and might have swung be back into getting this over the V20 again.

I'm on L29C432B156. I haven't noticed any loss of battery life after two upgrades.
I think I have to most recent one. All I can think of maybe the guy plays allot of games or has some rogue app on his phone eating all the battery life. In any case most reviews are positive about the battery so if one dude that dislikes it does sound like an isolated incident.

Yeah the more I look into it the more I think this is the case.
He seems like a nice decent likable chap who I'm assuming doesn't have a bias either way. But according to his "heavy use", when people say they're getting much better battery than his alleged figures he defines in his comments his heavy use as:
" i stream music from Spotify, watch YouTube, i have 5 email accounts syncing constantly, i get around 1000 emails an hour, 7 to 800 Telegram msgs an hour, fb,twitter, instagram, fb msg, /google Plus, snapchat, youtube studio, surfing the web, a couple of hrs phone calls, text messages, XDA, 500 Whats App msgs per Hour. This is how i test batterty life, and for me the Mate 9 can't deliver more than 6hrs SOT"
All I can say to that is WOW! Who on earth links five emails, gets 1000 emails AN HOUR, 100s of telegrams whatever they are, 500whatsapp messages PER HOUR (I mean that's one every 7.2 seconds!!!!). with loads of other stuff running and TWO HOURS of calls etc etc.. If doing all that with everything on he's getting 6 hours SOT then I can say I'm mightily impressed with it! Even heavy users wouldn't be be using it that much I'm sure. And if he can honestly say he gets the same SOT with iphones and samsungs with more powerful screens and smaller batteries all I can say is at worst I frankly don't believe it, at best he's got a dud Mate 9 or more likely all the aforementioned phones are awesome and we have nothign to worry about as 6 hrs SOT with a whatsapp message every 7.2seconds and an email every 3.6seconds plus all the other **** running is very respectable.
Personal experience over the Note 5. this thing kills battery life expectancies.
The Note 5 with:
BT ON Connected to huawei watch
GPS off
No Autosync
All apps killed
No calls
15 texts per day max
Packages disabled
1-2 hours of screen use tops
I Got maximum 13 hours. I get up every day at 8am and by 7-745 its nearly dead doing next to nothing. Android will not sleep and samsung refuses to accept its their software. My Mate 9, buds Moto Z play both on tmobile never have issues. he gets 8-9 hours screen time i get 8-9 hours screen time charge once every 2-3 days.
My Settings are EXACTLY the same with the exception of:
BT off when not using my Sony M1000x headphones.
300+ textsPer day.
No calls
Checking FB via Metal for FB
Email in Gmail 5-6 times a day
Camaro Forums via chrome browser
Instagram
Spotify + many more apps
And i never have issues. Granted i exchanged it because the B156/157 idk which one ruined battery. i have a B138 fw now and it works flawlessly. Its pathetic samsunbg phones barely make it through the day even when NOT used. Im dropping samsung and sprint very soon.
@applehater00
If your main consideration is battery life I do not think you will be disappointed.
But for what it is worth I will tell you the points I do not like about the Mate 9.
The vibration is very weak.
The notification light is tiny and almost invisible except in the dark.
The GPS is poor and no good for sports use.
There are various problems with notifications and some email apps don't work properly.
All these problems are discussed in this forum.

Oh.
The GPS worries me - I use GPS a lot for visiting clients, is it not accurate or good enough?
And will the normal gmail app work ok?

Strange though because people are saying the B156 one is fine. Opposite to your experience.
Maybe the battery just goes crazy and dies at some point?

And I prefer the faster Kirin 960 and the bokeh camera setup.
The issue: i was on the verge of ordering it when I came across techzillas 1 month review where basically trashes the battery. Yes he's a heavy user but he's comparing it to other phones which do better with his same use.
I don't understand. Is it his firmware? Has the issue been sorted? Is the battery not that great afterall? Id be buying from wondamobile so id be getting whatever international rom they use. Shall I just play it safe and get the lesser V20 if I'm going to keep all things on?

The GPS is fine for ordinary driving use, and it gets a fix very quickly. But there are some serious issues that Huawei aren't mending.
Read through this thread for details. https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/help/gps-problems-stats-reports-t3508213
Sorry I can't help you with gmail as I don't use it on this phone.
Right now I have 89% left, 10 hours active, 33 mins SOT. I think I got 7h SOT yesterday and still 50% left.
Compared to my Note 4 which barely lasts 12 hours, and that's idle time.

Ah i see thanks.
Thats disappointing. I may wish ti get back into cycling and if it cant track my ride accurately it sounds like a dud. How ridiculous! Just as i was about to buy one another problem pops up.
I wonder if huawei just aren't ready for making phones...!
It's a shame, yes. There are of course many good things about the Mate 9. They just let it down on a few things.
my mate 9 gets 9-10 hours of heavy use - granted i have some mods and tweaks

Other than the glaring camera distortion issue, how is this phone?

I've been reading up on the camera distortion issue and I'm quite disappointed in Sony's attitude towards it but despite that, the device seems great and I ended up ordering one off eBay (the dual SIM model).
What's everyone's views on this phone knowing the camera has issues? Does it make you want to return your phone or are you keeping it?

At first I really thought of returning it because the distortion issue, but it is pretty minor for me at least (compared to what other people have, the distortion in my phone isn't that bad). But forgetting this thing, I really like the phone. 6 weeks with it already, and it's performing damn good. The battery life is very good (7 hours SOT usually, and with my usage I only charge it once every two days), the performance is unbeatable, with a bit of tweaks the camera can shine, nothing bad to say about the build quality at all, and the most important thing for me, the sound output, is incredible. Also the display is very colorful, you can see no pixel on it, and the dark levels are very good for a non-amoled display. Didn't had any problems with wifi droppings in this weeks, and the LTE speed and stability is perfect. As cons I would say the lack of wireless charging and the bezels could have been smaller. But those issues are in no way more relevant than the pros. I am happy with my phone and I would recommend it.

That's pretty much exactly what my thoughts on this phone are.
I highly recommend this phone. I just upgraded from an Xperia Z5 which was my very first Xperia phone, the second being my XZ Premium. I've had for almost exactly 2 weeks and I'm REALLY impressed by this thing.
I listen to music a lot on my phone using Bluetooth headphones, and the sound quality is phenomenal. The equalizer really kicks ass, it's way better than pretty much all of the equalizer apps I've tried. All of the equalizer apps I've used tend to lower the actual output volume way too much. With Sony's EQ enabled, your actual output volume won't be any lower than having the EQ disabled.
The overall performance is absolutely amazing. Responsiveness remains instantaneous no matter what I'm doing on the phone, or what's running in the background etc. It just WILL NOT SLOW DOWN!
The camera distortion is really a non issue to me. I believe it's just a software issue anyway. I take photos all the time on it and never noticed it until I saw it on this forum, then went and replicated it for myself. It's really no big deal at all for me personally.
Build quality is REALLY nice. This is a premium feeling phone to me. Only downside is that this phone will slide on any surface way too easily. If you have it on a perfectly flat smooth surface that has even a SLIGHT angle, this phone will slide down it. That does annoy me a bit, but I'll be getting a case for this phone anyway which will fix it. But I would 100% have still bought this phone even if I knew beforehand, it doesn't detract from actually using it.
Battery life is very good. If I charge it overnight from say 10-11pm and take it off charge at around 5-6am, I'll listen to about 45 mins to an hour of music or YouTube in the morning, browse in Chrome, reading and sending emails and also using SMS / Hangouts / FB messenger periodically throughout the day. After another hour of music or YouTube come around 5pm, it's sitting at around 65-70% battery. All of this is with BT left turned on, connected to WiFi most of the day, mobile data always on, location always on, brightness around 50%.
I'd easily recommend this phone. Bloody fantastic.

Agree 100%. I think the camera issue is phone dependant... meaning that mine does not appear to be as bad as some. Still hope that for those who are having issues that Sony comes out with a fix.
I agree with all the sentiment posted here. It really is a great device, and I'd definitely recommend it. I am hopeful that we'll have a safe DRM unlock / root solution at some point, but as stock Androids go, this beats most.
I barely notice the camera issue. All my photos so far have turned out fine but they are mainly of people and landscapes. I have had the phone 2 weeks now and honestly couldn't be happier, I use it as both my personal and professional device. I usually get a good day from a charge with a good 6.5-7 hours of SOT a day with multiple emails sent, a few calls and a few apps constantly running. I actually like the smart charge feature too, I only charge my phone during sleep hours so there is no inconvenience for me about charge time. I do miss there being no cap avarice buttons but only because my previous phone (Note 4) had them and I did like the full screen being an actual screen! For what I use this phone for it excels at but we all use ours differently. What usage are you wanting for your ideal device??

Hi, could you tell me the tweaks fpr the camera please
I have been using this phone for about 2 months now and here's my Honest review.
The Android OREO fixed many things. the camera in OREO includes an option "correction for image distortion" so the only issue of this phone "camera distortion" is gone. there is also DRM fix available for this phone now. performance-wise many people said that the phone lags on some games but thats a totally different story. Asphalt 8 and all other gameloft games have stutter issues. the games that doesnt work smooth are probably due to optimization issues. this phone can run GTA SA on fully max graphics. antutu score is 180,000 which is awesome. the LPDDR4X ram is fast enough to hold and process all data without any drop in performance. we all know that the 4k display is running in 1080p and only enables 4k in apps that support it (like youtube and sony album).
there are a lot of good things about this phone. some people said that the speakers are very quite but they are forgetting the fact that both speakers are facing towards the user so in a noisy environment too the sound can be heard by the user easily and is nothing to worry about. the 3D Creator app is fun to play with. the camera can be even better if you know how to use it in manual mode so that depends on preferences of the user. as for the charging speed, it is quite brilliant actually. for example if you need some battery urgently then a 15 min charge would give you 30-35% battery and you will be good to go for about 6+ hours (SOT would be less, depending on usage). as for me, i ordered the spigen carbon painted case for this phone and now the phone looks even better. better grip better handling. the phone just amazes in almost every aspect. i have used s8, op5 and iphone 8 but there is something special about XZ premium. it just is perfect in every aspect that you can think of.
The 3230mah battery seems small for 5.46' 4K display but its running 1080p that too on 10nm battery efficient chipset makes up for it.
PS: im not a fanboy or anything like that im reviewing what i experienced. there are goods and bads about every phone and according to that logic this phone has too many goods and very very rare bads which arent even noticeable.
Regards.

Highly disappointed with battery and heating

So 2 weeks with the phone. I absolutely love it, except for this huge problem. Is this normal??:
- It gets very overheated quickly, specially with camera or videocalls.
- Battery life is the worst one I have ever experienced. It will go from 100% to 15% in around 8h with 2,5h SOT. It's insane. Exact same setup with pixel 2 XL, lasts double
Do you think might be a damaged device? I tried ofc clean flash. Both Android 9 and 10 beta. Same issue...
Thank you
I've been having pretty bad battery life myself. Average of 3 to 3.5hrs SoT. Usually need a pick up charge during the day before bed.
Really annoyed cuz I love this phone. I've been trying out OnePlus 7 Pro and S10+. Don't like Samsung, used to love them, but I just hate that UI and their apps they push on you. OnePlus is amazing in terms of everything but the camera, and that is a big thing for me. OnePlus 7 Pro has been really great in performance, battery, everything, but the camera which is pretty mediocre.
I'm returning my OP7 Pro and going back to my Pixel 3. While I love the speed and smoothness of the 7 Pro, the camera is really bad. Too bad to compromise. Returning it and going back to my pixel 3 which also suffers crappy battery, but the camera is still the best
Yeah the battery life is mediocre, you would think they would have added some kernel profiling for such. Pubg eats battery when I play it and it gets so hot it's rather concerning. But on the plus side, it makes my wife put her phone down when she's riding on empty.
I might not be a power user but I get solid 5h SOT with DP3. Sometimes I can reach 6h SOT.
Standy by is around 14-16h, so it last a day.
As I am using DP3, I dont have any custom kernel not even root.
Signal at home sucks, I use wifi. But leaving home gives me the same result. If I stay in a place with good signal I can get even more.
Exactly the same issues I'm having. Overheating might usage and battery drain is horrendous.
Used the s10e with the same issues unfortunately. So went back to the pixel 3 knowing these compromises.
I think you may have a wakelock issue or a bad battery. I am running q beta 3 and still am at ~50 % after 11 hours

Do you think the pixel 3 is a good value phone today ?
I can have pixel 3 black in 128go for 400 € so I'm hesitating .....
Did the lasts updates improved battery life ?
Or it is more efficient to change the kernel to improve battery life ?
Thanks for your advices ?
Well after some days I have to say battery improved. It's not dramatic now but still being very weak. I changed location so maybe it's related to signal
For me now the dramatic point is the heating. There must be a bug or something, when you use front camera. It gets extremely hot. Videocalls are totally awful then

I think the phone is great in all other aspects. I am currently on Android Q beta 3 and the issues are the same from the time of purchase last October.
Regarding using custom kernels, I'm not into unlocking my phones and rooting nowadays so can't help you in that.
However if you are not into heavy gaming or editing, I've heard the 3a lineup performs better in regards to battery life. Might want to check them out before you decide.
I've been with beta for a while. Battery sucks but no overheating. This is the same with the official pie firmware.
I just got used to this and to be honest this happens with previous pixels.
It's an Android feature ?
I'm loving the size, camera and future navigation gesture.

Huawei Mate 20 Pro vs Zenfone 6

Hey! I got a Mate 20 Pro and I'm thinking about getting a zenfone 6. (got a direct trade deal).
Should I do it? And why?
What I value the most on a smartphone (not in any order):
- Battery
- Fast-Charging
- No notch
- Performance
- Loud speakers
What I dislike/don't use:
- Wireless Charge
- AMOLED or OLED (actually prefer IPS LCD)
- Cameras
- Notch
- EMUI (its just horrific)
Should I make the trade? If so, why?
Thanks!
I went from a Huawei Mate 9 to the ZenFone 6. It's completely day and night!
The worst part of Huawei phones is EMUI. I had that phone for over 3 years and EMUI annoyed me the whole time. I got lucky and got a bootloader unlock code but with a custom ROM stuff like the camera didn't work properly.
What Asus has done with the new ZenUI is fantastic. It's so close to stock Android with the only bloat being Facebook and Instagram - and they're removable! I haven't even been tempted to root this phone as the software works perfectly for me - it's a first for any phone I've had.
The battery life is also great for me, usually getting 10-11 hours SOT with moderate usage, but I have gotten 14 hours mostly just watching YouTube. It doesn't charge as fast as the Huawei but it charges fast enough, the endurance more than makes up for the slower charge. I generally only charge it every second night. Games that would use up half of the Mate 9's battery in X amount of time will use maybe 15-20% in the same amount of play time on this phone.
The hardware is great on this phone with only two complaints from me:
1. The speakers are merely serviceable. They get the job done and are loud enough but not particularly good sounding. On the other hand headphones sound very good and the built in EQ gives heaps of room for tweaking.
2. The camera module sometimes comes a bit loose when the screen has been off a while. When it's meant to be fully retracted in the phone it will move about .5mm and you'll be able to hear it tapping in your pocket as you walk. Turning the screen on and back off is usually enough to get it to retract though. I have considered putting a thin bit of double sided tape behind it as I never take selfies.
Coming from a Huawei myself I reckon take the plunge. With what you listed there I think you'll love this phone.

Battery really annoys me...

Ive already been using this phone since the first day you could buy it in Spain and yes, I know you can charge it in 40~ minutes, actually if you are at home there is no problem, all cool, but ive been leaving home two days in a row at 9:00, I put it in 60hz FHD and at 15:30 my battery already ran off... Yes, I use it, I use bluetooth, youtube, soundcloud, camera, etc... But I come from a One Plus 7 Pro and with 90hz config I could easily leave home at 9:00 and still have battery life at 23:00 or even 00:00 with a similar use. I really love all the other aspects of the phone, but this one screws my whole experience. Im really thinking about buying one plus 8T pro or iphone 12/12 pro when it comes out and sell this phone, I realised battery life is way too important for me, and I know I could use a portable battery to charge it in the street, but come on... Not gonna carry that in the pocket all the time. I'd like to know your impressions about this topic guys, thank you so much.

Mmm using it? Or in the pocket and looking it barely 3 or 4 times, man, i dont want to doubt it but sounds strange to me... Ive been looking for people screen times and no one gets that many screen time hours at 120hz QHD+... You have brightness at the minimum maybe? What firmware version you got? Thank you
Battery life is not good I would be honest. Never lasted me a day if I play games now even a half day.
Oppo have done amazing working tuning the display, far more superior than the OnePlus 8 Pro, I leave my house at 10am & return at 6-7pm, consistently with 20%+ left, on QHD, 120hz, using social media apps, banking, NFC, Bluetooth, music & 5G on at all times (other than when WiFi is available)...
In short battery life is amazing for me, Oppo nailed the optimization :good:
Awful battery life
Oppo needs to improve the battery life of Oppo find X2 pro ASAP !!!!
Max 4 hours of SOT is really bad !
I reported this problem to the German oppo customer service one week ago but still no response !
The battery life of OnePlus 8 pro after the latest update has improved the battery life (6-8 hours of SOT).
Oppo just do something you're selling a smartphone that is more expensive than iPhone pro max !!!!
I'm a super heavy user that plays many games, even heavy 3D games like Mortal Kombat Mobile for many hours, while playing videos over YouTube Vanced picture in picture sometimes, too.
No matter what I do, even when I brainlessly put the brightness as high as Mt. Everest, where it would burn every vampire to death and constantly playing Mortal Kombat Mobile over 5ghz WLAN, the phone keeps its accu power. 4:14h of constant playing MK (99% SOT) was the worst one losing 71% accu and that was with death ray burning brightness instead of normal or low brightness (which is actually 'normal' brightness on this display).
The longest run with heavy usage (37% SOT) was 18:05h where it lost 97% accu and the longest run with normal usage (24% SOT) was 18:29h where it lost 55% accu... That's with Global latest version (2025.11A24), standard settings, dark mode, location on, always-on-display, bluetooth+NFC off, energy saving @20%, 120hz+3k, Microsoft SwiftKey with black theme and using accu killers like Facebook, graphic-heavy games, YouTube and stuff...
So whatever you do, you are doing it wrong or something you installed is keeping your phone awake, when your phone can't handle a few hours without using it... Maybe you are simply 'think' you handle it right, but using it in an extreme way like graphic-heavy gaming with full brightness on top of that and think that's normal use. Normal use is sometimes phone someone, write a few messages every hour, look on the clock, play a game for maybe 30 minutes or searching for something special and reading a few news - that's 'normal usage' that doesn't really puts the battery in stress. Even when you are a long runner that writes 12 hours in one action (like I do), your display won't mess up the battery and you have enough battery to get over the day...
What you should do:
>Lower the display brightness (somewhere around the sun in the bar is 'normal' brightness and it really gets dark first around 5% brightness in the night)
>use dark mode for all apps
>put Facebook and Instacrap in normal state - especially Facebook is well known for killing battery life, while not using it (apps>facebook>don't start automatically + don't allow in background). These apps getting worse and worse from year to year.
>no automatic updates in Google Play (developers are just making frequent updates to stay in the top list of Google Play, that's why it doesn't make sense to have it on auto-update, because it kills your battery, overstresses electric facilities and never touch a running system if it ain't getting faster or better. Only update when something is 'not' working!)
>always charge your battery between 20-70% if you want it to live 'always' like Bon Jovi and Erasure, only make a full charge when you 'really' need it and never charge over night. Better: install an app like 'AccuBattery' that helps you with that (since the phone has 2 accus its normal max mah will be around 2055mah, but will function normal like it has the double).
>take off Bluetooth and NFC - they are accu killers and you don't need it anyway, while an open NFC is the best way to let you pay everyones bills, when you are in the city and hold their device near your phone. Just use NFC when you are temporarily need it.
get 4 hours SOT at least an hour gaming. And after 14 hours of the day i still have 40% left. I reckon it's one of your apps causing the problem. Install GSAM and use ADB to grant it access and find out what the problem is.
How can I grant permission via adb? It doesn't seem to work with the app's commands. Adb Devices indicates that it is connected, but the commands result in an error message. Must I be special activate in the developer settings, except usb debugging?

I get this error message, despite new adb drivers
Now the ad is like that?!
A restart fixed the problem, thx

Another issue with the phone is that under the sun the fingerprint sensor is unusable.
I think I'll go back to OnePlus 8 pro or even to iPhone pro max. Its battery is amazing!!!

I just uninstalled facebook, who cares, no one uses facebook nowadays lul, I never use it, only instagram, thank you all.
Personally I get between 6.5 and 8hrs SOT (6.5 if gaming and 8 if not)
I use FHD, 120Hz, Auto Brightness.
I have fine tuned settings, turned off wifi and bluetooth scanning, have location off if not used, same with BT and Data.
As for the fingerprint reader, it's pretty good but as like all Oneplus phones with the same scanner, it's hit or miss sometimes.
Therefore I use face unlock which works with Google pay and works 100% of the time even with my face mask on.
Now if only I could get a decent Gcam and June security patch.

Now if only I could get a decent Gcam and June security patch.

both urnyx and arnova work just fine
and June Patch is available for a month you just need to use a VPN to Germany (or UK can't remember)
Coming from a Xiaomi Mi 10 with its 4700mah battery and 1080p 90hz screen, the battery life on the oppo has been abysmal.
I use auto brightness and I'm indoors 90% of the time so my brightness is really low.
The same usage on the Mi 10 would give me 10 hours SOT but the Oppo barely gives 5 hours SOT. This usage is mainly Google play books, social media, and Google Chrome.

Sounds like a rogue app or faulty device, I'd recommend getting in touch with Oppo for a replacement
