Help with wifi - LG G7 ThinQ Guides, News, & Discussion

So i was on Android 10 with G710N Korean model when i decided to root and have a custom rom. i cross-flashed to ULM11g to have fastboot mode available through which i got root and twrp.
Then using patched LGUP, flashed to Android Pie using Partition DL to keep my root and twrp.
After flashing to Pie, i noticed my WiFi will be on but was not able to find any WiFi even when i was sitting next to the router.
NB>>>> The partitions I didn't flash when I was upgrading to Pie was just boot_a and boot_b.
Can anyone please help me get back my WiFi.
I would be so GRATEFUL
Thanks in Advance

So you downgraded to pie without changing the boot partitions??
You need to install the complete ROM and then patch the boot images for root.
If you are referring to bootloader unlock and not root, then you will not lose that on installing custom ROMs. But you will lose root and twrp which you just need to do again.

Thanks for replying.
I went from Android 10 to 8 on ULM11g to have bootloader unlocked and gain root and twrp access.
Then flashed to Android 9 Pie with ULM20e but didnt flash both boot images so as to preserve root and twrp.
But after flashing all partitions except boot_a and boot_b, i noticed WiFi was not able to detect any network.
I still have bootloader unlocked and twrp with root.

Firstly You should flash a ROM suitable for your hardware G710N, otherwise there will be compatibility issues.
Second, you need to flash the complete ROM. Use cross flash guide to do that.
After that you need to root.

How to install Oreo ROM?

Hi! I'm really humbly sorry, I'm new to this stuff, so I have to ask you...
I have a Galaxy S8+ Duos (SM-GD955FD). I bricked it once or twice trying to root it. So I had to flash a sammobile.com ROM...
Now this is done, I have a successfully rooted phone with with the Baseband version G955FXU1AQH3 and the irritating "security notice" (since I was not able to install Magisk, and the NotifyClean app doesn't work either).
I would like to flash the latest Oreo and root it. I also heard good things about the Oreo ROM by alexega.
So: I'm on AQH3 rooted. What can I do?
Thank you for your patience.
If wou want to install stock ROM you must follow this instructions: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8+/how-to/guide-how-to-flash-crap-using-odin-t3748555. Bear in mind that if you install stock due to security issues you can't unlock OEM for 7 days after flashing (you must not reboot your phone for 170 hours).
If wou want to flash a custom rom you must have TWRP installed, move the zip rom to your SD card and just flash it from recovery. Make sure to format data before flashing.

Nice, thank you. So I have just flashed the thing with the sammobile.com ROM again (so, no root) and updated to the oroginal firmware Oreo following your link (I worked parallel).
I was just about to root Oreo and was googling for a way... But did I get you right? I should not reboot my phone for 170 hours now?!? So, no rooting until next week?!
Edit: I have developer options enabled and the "OEM unlock" switch is on (it says: "Bootloader is already unlocked.""). So... confusion...

Excuse me, are you currently on Nougat 7.0? If so, you obviously have OEM unlock option available. The problem is in the new 8.0 stock rom, wich sets RMM state to pre-normal preventing you to flash TWRP and to get root in OREO. To skip that you can directly flash a custom rom with 8.0.- Otherwise (stock rom) you must wait 7 days with no phone reboot to get ridd of that pre-normal issue and then flash TWRP and flash Magisk.
Just rooted the new Oreo ROM with TWRP. Works just fine, thank you.
So, what are the advantages of the Oreo ROM by alexega compared to XXU1CRAP?

Just follow the steps from the link in my previous repply. As it's an original software, it won't trip knox or void your warantee.

Do you need a custom rom to not have the RMM lock anymore? A stock with BlackMesa's RMM START .zip is not right?

There's no need to have a custom rom, if you flash the fix in stock RMM lock gets killed everytime.

First you have to install OREO and wait 7 days without reseting your phone. After 170 hours, you get OEM unlock in developer options and you will be able to flasf TWRP. After flashing TWRP you flash RMM-State_Bypass_Mesa and that´s all.

Anyone Willing to Help a Newbie Pixel User.

Hello guys is there anyone willing to help me out?
Im long term HTC user in the past 15 Plus years i was flshing whatever i want and im familiar with this but i switched to Pixel 2 and i want to clear for myself few things prior before to brick it.
I also read this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-2/how-to/guide-unlock-flash-root-pixel-2-walleye-t3702417
But its seems like the thread is not updated and some users mention problems with flashing Magisk etc.
Im fully Stock locked bootloader with the latest Android Pie from 5 January 2018
The Pixel i use is Google Edition worlwide version not loocked to any network etc.
The main reason to want to Bootloader unlock it is because i need the Magisk in order to be able to flash and use few of the must have for me apps that i use all the time.
1st is SAURON audio - without Magisk and TWRP this is not posible.
2nnd few additional Magisk modules that i use non stop in the past few years.
What is not clear for me is the steps and exactly the second steb with Flashing Flashing factory images?!
In HTC i need to get the bootloader unlock S-OFF is i want and flash a TWRP in this case i can flash on top Magisk so here is different and not very clear for me as well.
When im now on the latest Android version from 5 January do i need still to flash FACTORY IMAGE after unlocking the bootloader?
Is anyone willing to help to clear the things out before to mess the device.
Thanks in advance

Hi If you just want to unlock bootloader, there is no reason to flash factory image again. Just allow unlock bootloader in developer options, reboot to bootloader and run fastboot flashing unlock, this will fully wipe/factory reset your device.
Now you could boot/flash TWRP and install magisk.
When will be new monthly update available, flash it with help of this thread:
Code:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-2/how-to/guide-how-to-install-google-software-t3760033
Good luck :good:

Thank you for the info.
So this mean i dont need to flash Image if im with the latest stock Version.
I prefer to stay stock just miss some Magisk modules thats why i wondering what to do.
Can i flash just a Kernel for example KiriSakura after unlock the bootloader and install TWRP just to flash Kiri Kernel with the stock rom im now and other Magisk stuffs like Sauron etc.
Thanks again
Hi exactly, if you run latest stock you havn't flash it again after bootloader unlock.
If you want to petmanently flash twrp, you have to do it before flashing magisk, othetwise you willn't be able to boot os only twrp.

Rooting on Android 10

Hi, Im new in this forum, just got my OP 7 Pro. I've been away from anything root related for a long time, since my previous devices couldnt be rooted.
I remember using magisk when it was a new thing, and everyone was using greenify to extend battery life.
I just updated to Android 10 Beta, can I root my device?
If it is possible, what do I lose if I root besides widevine?
The only thing I'm really looking forward is gcam port and the use of aux cams, since a lot of things have to be updated to Android 10, I don't think there's a lot to do right now besides that.
I think you have to come back to the android p stable, root, install the twrp and after you will able to update with the root. Now im on the beta with root and twrp throw a dirty installing

Hi! Thanks. If you don't mind, can you give point me to a guide or something to downgrade? I'm a total noob with everything OnePlus related.
You don't have to downgrade to Pie.
Do it like this:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7/how-to/guide-how-to-flash-android-10-twrp-t3964131
You just need stock boot.img:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...isk-patched-boot-image-oneplus-7-pro-t3964345
There's also another way which avoids to downgrade.
Flash the magisk patched img you'll find in this forum.
After following instructions from there, you'll be rooted but without TWRP.
If you need that also... flash the TWRP installer zip as a magisk module, reinstall magisk (direct install), reboot and you're done.

Wow, thanks!! that seems stupidly easy, even for me. Two questions:
Do I need a PC to do the extraction?
Will this wipe any data?
And as for my initial question, is there anything besides widevine lost when rooting?

You can download Magisk patched boot.img from second link above.
Flashing boot.img will not wipe any data.
If I remember right, Widevine will get L3 with unlocked bootloader.

Awesome!! Thank you very much, thought I had to unlock the bootloader by myself using a PC.
Edit: I'm so dumb, just realized I still have to flash the boot.img using fastboot
I have a question, in order to root and flash twrp coming with android 10 (no root) I must unlock the bootloader, right?

Yes bootloader must be unlocked to flash TWRP or Root the device also when you unlock the bootloader it will factory reset the device so make sure you backup any personal data you need before unlocking.
Thank you

Having issues decrypting after attempting to do OTA update

Hi,
My phone is rooted and with twrp. After attempting to perform OTA update, it now boots straight to the fastboot screen. I still can get TWRP to work but there is no prompt to decrypt my phone after twrp starts so I basically can't read the phone contents. Much appreciated if anybody here can guide me to fix my phone. Does it mean I will lose all my data?
Thank you!

Question about rooting my 8T KB2005 on OOS 11.0.8.13.KB05AA

Hello all,
I installed the latest update for my 8T KB2005 which is 11.0.8.13.KB05AA. I have unlocked the bootloader and would like to root it, however I'm not sure if it is possible to root from my current firmware version. Some root methods I read about say I need the stock image of my OS, but I believe my current firmware version is an incremental update and that will not work? I read it's possible to use payload dumper to get my image, but this doesn't work with incremental updates either. Maybe I am misunderstanding things. If someone could enlighten me, that would be greatly appreciated. Is is possible to root from my current firmware?
*Update: upon researching further, one possible solutions seems to be using the MSM tool to downgrade to an older version of OOS, then locally upgrading to 11.0.8.11.KB05AA, and then being my root process from there. I will attempt this, but if anyone knows if a root method from 11.0.8.13.KB05AA. I would like to know as well

You don't need to use the MSM route. It's far simpler to patch the stock boot or use a patched stock boot.
@g96818 had kindly posted the boot image(s) you need in thread '[Guide] How to ROOT OnePlus8T (CN/IN/EU/US) KB2000,KB2001,KB2003,KB2005' https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...00-kb2001-kb2003-kb2005.4178675/post-85165277
Its possible to use adb to pull the boot image and patch it in magisk. Then you use fastboot to boot from that image( not flash) and do direct install from magisk.

You can only do that if the phone is rooted. You need root access to pull a boot image from /dev/block/by-name/boot_[ab].
