missing app after installation - General Questions and Answers

I am using oppo a3s. Color os 5.2.1. Android 8.1. Microsoft launcher. Stock phone. I installed Samsung Internet browser and could not find it in the phone. Tried searching and nothing comes up. The only way for me to use this is by assessing Google play and open from there. Any ideas why. How to fix this?

[Q] Apps missing from NS4G market

I am running the stock v2.3.4 build GRJ22 on my ns4g, but can't seem to find some apps on the market. Specifically, Google Listen, Google Goggles, Facebook for Android, HandyCards-Rewards.
Any idea why they are not showing up. I have seen in some other forums that people have them on their NS4Gs. Do I have to root it for these to work?
One of the other device forums mentioned having to do a factory reset. Is that the only option?
Pure stock? Did you root it or anything?

try going to market.android.com and downloading them from there
If its not showing it probably isnt supported with gingerbread. Although some apps might "work"

I have experienced this quite a bit, and it is very frustrating to say the least. Essentially the market filters out "incompatible apps" based on the android version. However I would rather be able to download it and decide for myself whether it is compatible or not.
Nevertheless there is no way around it (that I could find). Myself and all the other cm7 users have experienced this since running cm7...
I would imagine there is a way to bypass it, but who knows how and how difficult it would be for that matter.
Try the following apps;
Market enabler
or
Market Doctor (by Tibu)
may fix your problem
awsome..trying now!

[Q] Google Chrome Installation problem

I have a problem with Google Chrome and I'm currently on CROMI 3.3 atm. I remembered I uninstalled Google Chrome once before and recently I just wanted to add it back so I could make use of ease with that nice Google account syncing with other synced devices. I tried installing from Play Store, and i got an error code -24. I couldn't find any information on that, so I tried doing 3rd party app installer and even tried using airdroid to do an install from my PC. Both of which could not even install as well.
I can only remember that Chrome was installed as a system app before, but I never did so. The only thing that acknowledges Chrome's existence on my tablet is Titanium Backup. There's a strikethrough line for com.android.chrome, but it doesn't give me any other option to do anything with it. No backup, freezing, or uninstall. Oddly enough, I don't know how I don't have a backup for the apk either.
The point is I'm trying to make here is, should I reflash the previous CROMI that did install Chrome with its package? I was on 3.2 before coming straight to 3.3. Is it safe to do that?
The one other thing I'm hoping would work is ask someone on here for their Chrome backup and restore it through Titanium. It's a chance that it would probably work, but I would like some thoughts on that.
Any help is appreciated, thanks... ~__~

Apps disappear

I recently rooted my Nexus 5 and installed PACROM. After that, I downloaded some apps and they appeared on my desktop for a couple of minutes and then I just could not find the shortcut nor the app itself in the app drawer. I tried a different launcher and still nothing. But when I went to check if maybe it was uninstalled it whowed me that not, I can still open the app from the Play Store.
Why is it happening? Any way to fix that?
Help me please.
Never seen this, but then again I've never used that ROM.
Try another ROM.

ZTE V5 Rom without ANY browsing capability - is it possible?

Hi.
I have an old ZTE V5 (I think the official name is "Red Bull", can't remember now) lying around.
I want to give it to my relative, but she wants a phone with only WhatsApp and Waze pre-installed, and no browsing capability at all.
Which means - no chrome on the phone, nor stock browser (and not Google Now, I think, as well, since you can browse through its interface)
Right now there's a CM12.1 on the phone, with chrome and Google Now installed.
Is it possible to do such thing?
I thought about flashing CM again, this time with the Pico Open Gapps package, and then install WhatsApp and Waze from the Playstore.
Thing is, anybody could install Chrome and other browsers from the Playstore later on.
So, what would you do? Is there's any way to 'lock' the playstore, so nobody would have access to it anymore?
Or, even simpler- Is there's any Rom, that you can bundle any app that you want BEFORE you flash it, and then won't have internet access AFTER?
Thanks for your help.

Huawei/ EMUI problems (Netflix)

I have an Huawei Mediapad T5 for a little time now. I didn't used it much because of the annoying resolution settings.
But for so far, everything seemed to work. But didn't do much with it besides watching some Netflix on it.
But I've rooted my tablet this week, to see if I could get a workaround for this resolution problem.
I managed to root it, but stayed with it's EMUI stock ROM so far.
First thing I do is always remove the bloatware software. And just get it back to the most needed to run Android. So, removing all the games/ apps and stores I don't need.
So I also removed the Huawei appstore. I'm used to find all the apps I need on Google Play. So no need to use more appstores, which only take space.
But now it seems like some of the apps are not working annymore. For instance Netflix.
When I first opened it, it told me that it was not able to make connection or something similar. Then I checked it in Google Play, and it notified me in red that the app was compatible with this device. So I choose to remove it, trying to install it again. But now I can't find it annymore in the Google Playstore.
When I open CPU-Z, I get a message that it needs the newest version of "HMS Core". When I click install it directs me the Google Playstore of "Huawei Mobile Services" (so this is what HMS means).
But then again it shows me in red that this app is not working annymore with my device.
So my Questions:
Annyone had similar problems with a Huawei device? Is this caused because of an update? Because it's a rooted devce now? Or because I've removed the "Huawei app store" (or maybe another Huawei app)?
And how to resolve this?
