Screen dims while adaptive brightness is turned off - OnePlus Nord Questions & Answers

I recognized that the screen dims when I open an app while adaptive brightness is turned off. When you set the animator duration scale to 0 in the developer settings, it's even more recognizable. I found a solution for Huawei devices that says to deactivate a system application. I don't know which app is responsible on the OP Nord. Does anyone else have the problem? Does anyone have a solution to stop this behavior?

Same
My Nord too have this issue

Automatic brightness gets disabled.

Guys,
I always keep the auto brightness on my phone enabled. And also the power saving mode enabled. What I noticed on my phone is, when I plug it to a power source and unplug it, the automatic brightness gets disabled. Any one with same problem? Any solution will be appreciated.

I do not have these problems, so you need attempt to regulate brightness with some apps, attempt with this https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wxLDEsImNvbS5hcHBhbGwub3B0aW1pemF0aW9uYm94Il0.
You find in options screen brightness settings and put them on auto

screen lights up randomly

whenever the phone is just resting on the table, it will randomly just up the lockscreen for a few seconds, then turn back off.
I do not use any auto brightness. anybody else experience this? It usually happens a few minutes after it's been used.
maybe notifications waking screen to remind you. maybe background app forcing screen wake. have you only noticed this after downloading an app . maybe try deleting recent apps and seing if it persists
i have not had this same issue but with same thing ......with auto brightness off..have you noticed while using it the screen dims. gets lighter? etc you can be on internet page and your screen goes much brighter? also sometimes goes dimmer?
i beleif it to be battery optimisation . or that turning off auto brightness doesnt really turn it off. or there is bug in software that does this.

It is quite possible that ambient display is the culprit. Look in display settings and see if it is enabled.
Hello, we understand your concerns about the display and its brightness. Here are some tips to correct your auto-brightness issue.
- Your phone will automatically adjust the screen brightness according to the ambient brightness. Clear the Automatic brightness check box to manually adjust the brightness.
- For sleep mode, the screen will lock automatically after a period of inactivity to reduce power consumption. Select Sleep to adjust the screen-off time or disable the automatic screen lock feature.
If the problem persists, try backing up your device and performing a "master reset". This should help correct any buggy issues you are having with your display. (NS)
You don't receive notification and it lights up randomly, right?!
Disable voice wake-up from Settings. The same thing happened on my P8.
So voice wake-up os begins this, I've never enabled it, I didn't thought about it

Still the problem exists. I mentioned already we have automatic brightness box unchecked and still the brightness changes.
If you're on MM try to rollback to LP

Try changing Power Plan to Performance if it is set on Smart.
Sent from my HUAWEI VIE-L29 using XDA Labs
A factory reset should solve the problem, if other solutions don't work
try enabling the power saving mode

Screen brightness

Hello everyone,
I noticed that after updating my Mate 8 to Android 7, my screen seems to have an Auto brightness functionality going on, even though I've turned auto-brightness off.
For example, when my screen is in direct sunlight, I notice that my apps are brighter, and when I cover my light sensor they become darker even though my brightness is set to max all the time.
Anyone know why this happens?
Increase readability under sunlight - option

There is an option in developer options
Please check the screenshot.
Increase visibility under sunlight
Check if this option is turned on. If it is on then switch it off and see if your problem is resolved. :good:

Hey, thanks! I didn't know that option was there.
I've turned it off now, and I'll see if this fixes my issue.

Adaptive brightness gone crazy after upgrading to oreo?

Not sure its only me or the Adaptive brightness option is way too "sensitive" after upgrading to oreo... Its like brightness gets "moving" every tick my phone moves Could it be a bug? Or configurable somewhere in services settings? Pretty annoying

Screen brightness

i'm having issue when the screen isn't always bright, but when i use youtube it gets brighter.
how can i stop this?, i want it to be always bright.
Just in case this is still relevant to you or someone else:
Try to disable the "Adaptive brightness" setting in the Display settings. This will prevent the Brightness to change in connection with the enviroment lightning.
If that does not work, do you have youtube vanced installed or o you use the regular Google App?

I use normal youtube, not just it gets brighter on youtube but on every thing has to to with video, it even change colors on nividia geforce now (use it just to test the device)
To me that sounds like adaptive brightness. Check in your Android settings in display if the "adaptive brightness" is on or off. If it os On, turn it off! If that doesnt work, check if the brightness changes when you cover up your light sensor, ususally somewhere next to the fron camera. (should be a small black dot or something like that)
If the brightness changes if you cover it up and dont cover it up and you can not change the adaptive brightness setting in your settings, put a tini little peace of plack tape over it to prevent it from changing.
Otherwise I do not have a clue what might cause the issue.
