Guys,
I always keep the auto brightness on my phone enabled. And also the power saving mode enabled. What I noticed on my phone is, when I plug it to a power source and unplug it, the automatic brightness gets disabled. Any one with same problem? Any solution will be appreciated.

I do not have these problems, so you need attempt to regulate brightness with some apps, attempt with this https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wxLDEsImNvbS5hcHBhbGwub3B0aW1pemF0aW9uYm94Il0.
You find in options screen brightness settings and put them on auto

I have been using auto-brightness, but I feel that it is usually brighter than necessary. I'm trying to get better battery life ( get a day just fine as is using the phone quite a bit) but I'm going to experiment with manual brightness to see how much life I can save. What do you use? How has it affected your battery life?
I use auto brightness too, but have been thinking about using manual brightness with the screen always #1 in my battery history (consistently 60-70% battery use).
It seems like the only people able to get the screen out of the number one slot for battery history are those setting screen brightness manually. Can anyone confirm this?
I use auto brightness and it seems to do fine. I will agree with you that it does seem a bit bright in some situations though. I can get a day's worth of battery out of it with auto brightness, and wifi on (never sleep policy).
I need to do a bit more testing without wifi, but I don't see why it wouldn't be that much different (I could be wrong though)
It sucks that auto-brightness can't be adjusted at all. On the iphone you could "weight" auto-brightness to lower or higher settings. It worked great because you could still use auto brightness, but keep the screen a little dimmer to save power.

Sorry for this off-topic question - does it mean you got your Captivate without a data plan?

He's referring to whether or not your Wifi chip will go into sleep mode when the screen is off. By default your wifi will go into sleep mode when the screen is off.
To change the setting navigate to settings -> wireless and network -> wi-fi settings -> tap the menu button and select advanced which has an option for wi-fi sleep policy that had been defaulted to sleep "when screen turns off". There you have the option to change it to "never" or "never when plugged in".

What is the advantage to keeping wifi on?
Some people only have the 200MB data plan like me.
I also use google voice for my text messages because it is free. Has worked like a charm!
I used autobrightness for a few days, but then I found out that you can adjust the brightness just by sliding along the notification bar. I never went back.

Wi-fi uses less battery power, and is faster than 3G in most cases.
I use Manual brightness and i Have the power widget loaded which gives you a 3 position brightness toggle - low medium high, just in case i want to change.

Try sliding your finger horizontally over the top bar. Samsung made it so that it acts as a brightness slider.
Yep I use the notification bar swipe method. Works great.

That's brilliant (pun intended)! Thank you for letting me know about that. I was using auto, but I'm going to try this now.
So if your using manual do you use the power saving option? I feel this is the same as auto bright ness.
I want to completely disable auto sleep, but I can only set for when device is charging to not sleep with the developer options, but even with that option enabled, the device will always auto sleep if you face down the device (proximity sensor?)
Are there any program or anything that can do that? I mean disable it completely, setting it as manual (only power button)
Please help I need it for an app, thanks! :highfive:

try App Settings if you're rooted and have xposed, set your app to "keep screen on"

If your not rooted or you don't want to, There's a app that your looking for.
Smart applock
I have given the play store link below:
- Just navigate to screen lock and add apps that you want to keep active without sleeping.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sp.protector.free&hl=en
If you found this helpful, there's a thumbs up button (thanks button), just press it.
whenever the phone is just resting on the table, it will randomly just up the lockscreen for a few seconds, then turn back off.
I do not use any auto brightness. anybody else experience this? It usually happens a few minutes after it's been used.
maybe notifications waking screen to remind you. maybe background app forcing screen wake. have you only noticed this after downloading an app . maybe try deleting recent apps and seing if it persists
i have not had this same issue but with same thing ......with auto brightness off..have you noticed while using it the screen dims. gets lighter? etc you can be on internet page and your screen goes much brighter? also sometimes goes dimmer?
i beleif it to be battery optimisation . or that turning off auto brightness doesnt really turn it off. or there is bug in software that does this.

It is quite possible that ambient display is the culprit. Look in display settings and see if it is enabled.
Hello, we understand your concerns about the display and its brightness. Here are some tips to correct your auto-brightness issue.
- Your phone will automatically adjust the screen brightness according to the ambient brightness. Clear the Automatic brightness check box to manually adjust the brightness.
- For sleep mode, the screen will lock automatically after a period of inactivity to reduce power consumption. Select Sleep to adjust the screen-off time or disable the automatic screen lock feature.
If the problem persists, try backing up your device and performing a "master reset". This should help correct any buggy issues you are having with your display. (NS)
You don't receive notification and it lights up randomly, right?!
Disable voice wake-up from Settings. The same thing happened on my P8.
So voice wake-up os begins this, I've never enabled it, I didn't thought about it

Still the problem exists. I mentioned already we have automatic brightness box unchecked and still the brightness changes.
If you're on MM try to rollback to LP

Try changing Power Plan to Performance if it is set on Smart.

A factory reset should solve the problem, if other solutions don't work
try enabling the power saving mode
Hi
Pretty sure the AI is powering off my phone when it sits in idle for more than 3hrs... ...which is super odd..
Only happens in the evenings though... super strange...anyone else having an issue like this? If i turn on Airplane mode it does not happen
The only time I can go without using my phone for three hours is during sleep time. When I wake up the next morning my phone is still on. How's the battery life when you turn it back on?
Seems like you have scheduled/off feature turned on. Go to Settings> More Settings > Task Timer> Scheduled On/Off and check if you have anything active there.

the auto brightness is already turned off, even so the sunlight mode keeps turning on
Search for sunlight mode in settings, the first option you will see is auto brightness when it is off you can toggle off sunlight mode below it.
