That should do it!

I'm with you in dying for a Nexus 5 (and nexus 6) custom rom to have immersive mode/expanded desktop. Cyanogenmod is working on it, but even as of today (11/29), it's not in any builds made from unofficial CM12. The only thing to hold you over until a dev puts this in is that there is a an app from GMD for immersive mode. I don't like how it works (and requires an in-app purchase to make a line go away) so I don't use it and rather wait "patiently" for expanded desktop/immersive mode on custom roms, but it's there.

First u have to install LMT launcher (tap lmt launcher xda on google and u will find the app).
Second u have to configure LMT launcher which is PIE Control.
And third u have to install root browser and add this line at the end of system build.prop : qemu.hw.mainkeys=1
Make sure LMT launcher is well configurated because it's not possible to bring back the original navbar after this.
Hope I helped u.

Any chance of being able to just hide the notification bar? So that it's still available like in-app immersive? Really like that the nav bar don't come up by the way, thx for that.
Edit - I'm doing this on a grouper. Just being point in the right direction would be great. But I got a feeling that what i'm asking is a little more complicated....

I use LMT for pie (works great) and the hide navbar method of qemu.hw.mainkeys=1 in build.prop same as you.
But it is possible to bring back the navbar launcher. Just navigate to your build.prop and delete the text you added "qemu.hw.mainkeys=1" then reboot.

U can use a third part launcher as Nova to hide the notification bar on desktop and drawer but impossible to hide this one when u open an app.
I use Chrome Beta and the 3 dots reappears.

Thanks for the chrome beta advice! And with all respect would never switch from GELauncher to any other launcher! Its swift, fast & efficient!
I do miss the Gravity Box module & the whole xposed installer!
Wish I was a smart developer and could help xposed get on lollipop soon!
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Free mobile app
Missed xposed too. Still no news from devs of xposed. Hope something will arrive as a gift for 2015 .
Just installed the new P release and after switching to Nova launcher notice that the new recent management feature is not there. Odd. Is there a way to add the new style to Nova or do we have to wait for developer to do so?

Do not disable the OOS launcher
I tried that but then it shows both recents app managers....
So, freezing the OP launcher brings back the previous Oreo style recent apps view... trying... it does [emoji2]
Not sure what the fascination with Nova is. Lawnchair, Action Launcher & the OnePlus launcher are all as good or better if you're looking for an AOSP feel.
Personally I just use the OnePlus launcher, and sometimes Lawnchair.
Well, that's why there are many launchers... one uses the one with the features one wants and needs.. Nova does a great job for me.

The customisation in Nova Launcher, gestures, swipe etc is not fully present in the other launchers you mention, and as for ASOP "feel" you can make Nove look however you like.
After switching to mokee rom from miui 10 only thing I missed was the navigation gesture. I think it is one oft the most beautiful implementation among all. So I was looking for third party apps to mimic miui gestures. So far I have found these to be parfect. I am using the first one right now...
1. Fluid Navigation Gestures"
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fb.fluid
2. Fluid Navigation: Navigation Gestures MIUI"
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gestures.fluidnavigation
You can coment any other gestures you know..
Battery
How much battery it consumes if run continuously?
Just installed hovac rom and it has the gesture

Bro, you never posted the configuration, i really want to use an AOSP ROM but those navigations are just keeping me tied to MIUI-based ROMs.

Hello !
Just a simple question : Has anyone found a Substratum theme compatible with OOS 9, or any other way to theme the Navigation Bar (Three buttons mode) ? I'm looking for a way to change it to the old Nexus 4/5 navbar.
But until now, no luck !

Just checked it this morning, it works, but the buttons don't really scale properly, and whn you have a white navbar, the buttons don't turn black.
Btw, all themes do not work from what it looks like, a lot of themes are specified as "not working on Samsung Experience and OxygenOS".
I am using flux, flux white or vacoom and they work great
Bottom left substratum module works great on Samsung and oxygen

Oh, that sounds nice ! What I'm trying to achieve is simply the good old Android stock navbar from 4.0 to 4.4, aka the Nexus Navbar !
Albeit, with the same button size as the current stock Lollipop through Pie navbar. The old one was really big.

I'm talking about size because I bought your app, and it seems there is a problem regarding button size
