Wifi problem on MIUI 12: Disconnects & Ramdump - Xiaomi Poco F2 Pro (Redmi K30 Pro) Questions & Ans

After updating to MIUI 12.0.1.0(QJKEUXM) there are sporadic WLAN reconnects (8 to 10 per day) and only when the device is in screen-off state for some time.
In addition, there is a folder "ramdump" that fills up continuously with files like
ramdump_wlan_2020-08-03_20-48-05.elf and
ramdump_wlan_2020-08-03_20-48-05_dmesg.log
for every reconnect.
This folder now contains 358 files with 2.54 GB of ramdumps!!!
It started all with the MIUI 12 update. The first ramdump file has a date right after installing MIUI 12. On MIUI 11 Wifi was fine.
I tried every setting (Wifi Manager on/off, disable IPV6, fixed IP, fixed channels, etc.), but the problem remains.
Could you please check, if you also see ramdumps from wifi on your device and report back here?
It would be awesome to know, whether I am the only one with this problem. In that case, I would go through the hassle of a hard reset. Otherwise, I would just wait for another MIUI update...
Thanks.

The folder ramdump exists in my device but it's empty.
I didn't notice any WiFi disconnection. In MIUI 11 5G WiFi networks suddenly disappears but seems to be fixed in MIUI 12.
BTW, when you said "disable ipv6" you did it in your router or in the device? (I don't know how to do it in the device).

I did this on the router. I don't think there is a setting on the device itself.
And thank you for checking on your device, appreciated.

As you said that disconnections happens when device is screen-off maybe the problem is related with a kind of Power Saving option. Check if you have any WiFi Power Saving option active in your router.
For instance, in my router I have disabled "RX Chain Power Save" in both WiFi bands (2.4G and 5G). I have also disabled the Ethernet Power Management options, but I think it should not be related to your problem.
Good luck.

My router only has Power Management options for LAN, but not for WLAN.
I am on a combined mode 2.4 GHz/5 GHz on a single SSID. I could separate both to end up with separate SSIDs for each frequency. This is the only setting, I did not try yet.

Just to let you know. I found a solution:
In my router, I changed wifi encryption from "WPA+WPA2" to " WPA2 CCMP" and the problem is solved.
Weird though that this setting never made any problems before, not with my old phones and not with MIUI 11.

Having exactly the same problem except changing WiFi encryption doesn't solve it. Is there anyone else with this issue?

I need to turn off WiFi6 and all problems are gone.

I used to have the same problem on a OnePlus device, and this was the reason:

If it starts to drop out again, split the SSIDs.

Nexus 5 Wifi Issue

So I've had my Nexus 5 for roughly around a month and I hadn't experienced any issues others have had with wifi not connecting until now. My N5 will show im connected to my home wifi with full bars, but going into quick settings shows it to be orange. Suggesting there's no data transfer, I cannot use any internet based apps with wifi. I've tried some suggestions, switching my router off then on, rebooting the phone, turning some settings off in the advanced panel in wifi settings. All have failed.
I was just wondering if anyone else has this problem and if anyone has a fix to it.

There was a thread around here somewhere that suggested turning off your mobile data helped fix this problem, I think it was in the N5 General forums.....here it is:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2550690
Don't know if it'll help or not, just saw your thread and had just looked at the other one, figured I'd toss it out there.
Thanks for the reply, just tried that solution but still no luck.
I have a similar problem except that there are phases of wifi not working.
Sometimes I would have around 20-30 seconds of WiFi not working and there would be no data transfer.
Speeds are still fast when it is working however.
I played a little with only using mobile data and no wifi, and everything worked. (Small sample size however).
Seems like this is a WiFi only issue.
So somehow overnight the wifi has managed to fix itself, will report back if the problem returns.
The issue with the wifi returned unfortunately.

Don't know if you've tried this but change your WiFi frequency band in advanced setting to either "5 GHz only" or "2.4 GHz only," whatever your router uses. Might be worth a try.
Thanks for the help, but I've tried changing some settings in advanced wifi settings but it hasn't worked. Even what you recommended I've tried that before and it didn't work.
wifi issue
Also I have the same issue - Im connected to router by wi-fi, home and work and time by time (5x a day) wifi stops working. Wifi is enabled in settings, but there is no connection. Restart the cellphone helps, but after that, maybe an hour, it appears again.
Issue was in 4.4 and still appers in 4.4.1.
Yet did not found how to solve it.
I have the same issue on my gnex running shiny 4.4, but I also had the same issue on 4.3. Tried the wifi options, nothing worked. Unfortunately, no solution for this device that has to last one more week. The double swipe down and tapping wifi gets the connection back, but it is only a work around.
The N5 connects seamlessly to my home and work wifi. A few days ago, I flashed the hammerhead factory image, TWRP and the 4.4.1 update.

Hey,
I have the same problem with 4.4.2.(factory rom, no root or not unlocked). Sometimes the wifi not works and get orange. I must put airplane mode to fix it. Its annoying.
But as well happens to me:
When I go out from office or home (where I have wifi connections saved in phone) the phone automatically switch to data plan from carrier. But when I come back the phone stays with data and there is not automatic switch to wifi. Sometimes it help to put wifi off or always airplane mode on/off for a while.
I do not know if it is normal behave of android but I would like have automatic switch to wifi.
I tried to change wifi details (changing bands, etc.) but not helped.
Please help. Thank you.
Is custom ROM or kernel will fix it??
For some unknown reason, as soon as I updated my router's firmware, the problem disappeared.
Updated Android 6.0 solved the issue

So I had the unfortunate experience of having my wifi go down while on vacation and for 3 weeks I spent a good chunk of time wiping and reinstalling multiple versions from Cyanogen, Paranoid android and 4.4 - 5.1 to no avail. I just did another factory wipe today and installed the new Android 6.0
The Finger Pointing Game is OVER
Read through 30+ pages of other android users with similar experience and some people send their units back to LG and some even managed getting a new handset. There was never any hardware issues with my unit I just couldn't turn on the WiFi but after the install WiFi works? Guess next time you push a software update to our Phones CHECK YOUR SH*T google and Maybe DON'T Take 3 months to FIX your F*CK Up.
I have a similar issue. Since Lollipop my phone almost never automatically connects to my WiFi anymore. What's wrong?

[Q] Wi-Fi connectivity issues

Hey guys,
I'm having some issues with my Wi-Fi connectivity on my N5 and it's freaking me out! :crying:
When I'm trying to connect to my home network, the Wi-Fi icon is getting orange after some random time.
Some times it gets back to white, some times it's not.
I know its a known issue but nothing seems to fix it.
I tried everything - reboot my phone, reboot my router, reboot into safe mode, forget the network and connect again, toggle into airplane mode and back, change Wi-Fi settings to connect only to 2.4 GHz, avoid poor connections, update my router firmware.
NOTHING worked!
The only thing I haven't tried yet is factory reset but I read some people saying it didn't help them either.
Only turning Wi-Fi off and than on again makes it "white" again for some other random time.
I'm running stock everything on a rooted device with Android 4.4.4 build KTU84P.
My Wi-Fi is working great with other devices in the network including a Nexus 7 2012 and some laptops.
And it seems that my Nexus 5 is connecting fine to other Wi-Fi networks.
It worked fine in the past and I think it all went wrong when I replaced my Modem.
Any ideas what else can I try?
Do you think maybe the Lollipop update will fix this annoying issue?
Thanks!
Forgot to mention (I guess it is obvious) - I can't connect to any website or run any network connected app when I'm "orange" (I know it means I'm not connected to google services).
Tried also to change my Wi-Fi channel. still not working.
Doesn't anyone have an idea what is wrong here?
This is really frustrating ... :crying:
Well, I'm kind of talking to myself here, but in case someone else is facing this annoying issue, here is what fixed it for me eventually:
Configure a static IP to my phone in the router configurations ! :victory:
Before that, I also tried to disable Wi-Fi optimization in the phone Wi-Fi settings, buy it didn't seem to help.

Galaxy S7 disconnecting from wifi while in standby

I have a stock galaxy s7, no root, no custom rom. When I wake up the phone from sleep, I often find that it lost wifi connection and I have to reconnect it manually.
I have tested 3 wifi networks and this happens only with 2 of them, so this make me think that it's a modem issue. BUT my previous phones (lg g3s, samsung galaxy s4 mini, meizu mx5) worked fine with the same connections, so this make me think that it's a phone's issue.
I have ''smart network switch'' disabled and also ''bluetooth scanning'' disabled (I read on AndroidCentral that bluetooth scanning could cause the problem, but it's not my case). The problem persists even with the latest firmware update.
Any suggestion? What can I do?
All the wifi networks I tested are 2.4 Ghz, the signal is strong and the wifi channel is relatively free.
I've experienced the oppsite problem.
My Wi-Fi is always on. Either I choose the "While charging" or "Never" option in "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" setting in Wi-Fi More menu.
Here I find an article about How to disable background Wi-Fi and Bluetooth scanning in Marshmallow.
But in S7's firmware there isn't Scanning option in overflow menu in Location setting like it showed by pictures.
I'm very confused.

The options that you are looking for are in a subsection inside the location settings. I don't know how the subsection is called in English because I'm italian and I use italian language, but it think it's ''location improvement', or something like that. Also, I have the exynos version of the S7, if you have the snapdragon one maybe this subsection could be absent or in another position.
But to be honest I don't think that you can solve your problem this way... Have you tried to reset to factory settings? Or have you checked if there is an app that forces the wifi to stay awake?
Btw, I did not solved my problem yet. I contacted Samsung assistance yesterday, and they told me that I have to send them the phone for reparation, but I'm sure that it could be solved modifying some parameters on my router... I don't want to leave them my phone for 2-4 weeks, beacuse I'm sure that they would send me it back with the same problem. If I find out a solution I will post it.

Yes, both works fine. I have the Exynos SM-G930F
I solved the problem. I disabled the WOW FI service on my router and the phone never disconnected again. WOW FI is a new service of my internet provider that allows to share your wifi connection between all the customers of the provider, splitting the wifi connection in 2 separate connections, one private and one public. For some reason the S7 didn't like the second connection.
Samsung S7 WiFi forced to sleep
Hi
I've been having this extremely annoying condition too, since the last software update.
I came to the conclusion that it was some kind of aggressive power management setting that was putting all kinds of apps to sleep.
Today.... I think I might have found a solution... I say might, as it's only been a few hours..
So I've done is this..
Go to settings.
Search for "Battery"
Click on the three menu dots in the top right hand corner.
Click on "Advanced Settings"
Turn off "App Power Monitor"
So far, so good.
My WiFi stays connected and the 2 VoIP apps and Text-to-voice app are alive and well.
Curiously, my battery drain doesn't seem affected.
I'd be interested to know if this solution works for other people.
Good luck.

WiFi tethering stops working after phone's screen turns off

Hello! I've been struggling with this problem for two months already. Basically, when I turn on WiFi tethering it works fine. I get high-speed transfers and well signal strength. However, hotspot becomes unresponsive shortly after screen turns off. Not a single ping can be received. I also noticed, that signal rate drops drastically shortly before it disconnects completely.
This issue stands to all devices I try to use with my OPO - laptops, smartphones etc.
I've already tried:
setting settings put global tether_dun_required 0 on ADB
changing hotspot WiFi frequency
changing hotspot SSID and password
changing battery mode
disabling battery optimization for "Android System" (sadly no Tethering app were found on the list)
I don't use any kind of battery savers. Nor of my Xposed modules should affect system in such a way. My Oneplus is running the latest CM ZNH2KAS3P0, however this problem had been present on previous ROMs already.
Any tips? Thanks in advance
Maybe....
Wifi -> Advanced Wifi Settings -> Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep ?
It's also set to Always, without effect
Encountered similar issue of WIFI from OPO mobile hotspot keep disconnecting. Troubleshot by putting the same SIM card in other phones where there was no such issue, so OPO is the issue here. Tried many suggestions but don't work, until I went to phone "Settings", then "Network & Internet", and lastly went for "Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth" to find this issue fixed finally!

WIFI deactivates

Hi,
I've a problem with my Mate 9 (MHA-L29B, 4G/64G).
I can switch on WIFI but after 1-2 seconds it will switch off automatically. No wifi networks are displayed. Other networks (mobile, bluetooth) and all other functions
are working normally.
I have already tried factory reset and wipe cache(s) several times.
I also tried to downgrade to android 8. Still no luck.
Could it be a hardware problem? Could I change the motherboard?
I already looked on aliexpress for motherboards, could I change to a mate 9 pro MB?
Many thx.

It's maybe not motherboard but WiFi antenna connection or so.
If you use a back- case, try without
While WiFi is connected, do you see a strong signal if you are close to the AP - test with some app like WiFi Analyzer
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vrem.wifianalyzer
Unfortunately I cannot connect to any wifi network, because no network is shown.

Hi there,
got the same issue -any solution or Idea?

The problem ocured last week. (29-09-2019). I was on android 8 and upgraded to 9 in the hope of solving the problem - unfortunatly that did not work out.
Also had a look at the antennass -they seem ok.
Interesting!
I've started with the same issue.
I actually had the issue about 4 weeks ago (don't recall it following any update/issue), I turned the phone off for half an hour, restarted it & it was OK.
Then yesterday afternoon (7th Oct) it started again & nothing has fixed it. I know I had WiFi working because my phone showed I was using WiFi Calling when I made a call but shortly after that, I noticed the problem had started.
I'm on (phone is 'up to date'):
Model: MHA-L09
Build: 9.1.0.252(C432E7R1P8)
EMUI: 9.1.0
Android 9
Just noticed in WiFi settings, it says IP address is unavailable, however when I go to - About Phone > Status it does offer an address.....

Maybe the IP address in About/Status corresponded to Mobile Network.
But it may mean that you loose WLAN upon Wireless call - maybe try to test more what really happens then (eg, compare Status/About and WiFi Settings before and after the Wireless call)
You could also try with/without WiFi+ enabled under WiFi/Menu
zgfg said:

If connected to both Mobile and WLAN, About/Status must show two IP addresses like on the screenshot (in my case they were: first Mobile IPv4 and second WLAN IPv6)

Yes sorry, there are 2 IP addresses in About/Status which seems strange as there is definitely no wifi connection - I'm struggling in different parts of my house due to intermittent mobile signal.
Turning off WiFi+ hasn't made any difference.
It won't offer me a WiFi call as there is no wifi connection.

Are the two addresses like on my screenshot, IPv4 (my first) and IPv6 (my second).
That means that you were given by the same media both IPv4 and IPv6 address
Eg, try like you are now at home by switching off WiFi and Mobile Data on, and then with Mobile Data switched off and WiFi on.
Then you will be sure that both IPv4 and IPv6 correspond to the samenetwork

Yes, the 2 addresses are similar to yours:
192.0.0.4
2a01:4c8:c:d227:800:db7e:8cfc:d77f
With mobile data off (obviously can't get WiFi to stay on after selecting), these disappear & it says 'unavailable'.
When turning mobile data back on, the addresses return (2nd longer one is slightly different).
So this means both addresses are given by the mobile signal & there is definitely a WiFi problem which has suddenly arisen & has been experienced by a few of us......?!
Factory reset has fixed this problem, so far.....
