My S6 Edge+ model is a G928T
Just in case this helps, my firmware/baseband is: G928TUVU1AOGD_G928TTMB1AOGD_TMB
Thanks in advance!
So I can Odin this on my T-Mobile Note 5, and then can we actually use it to back-up and flash and what not?

Yes, it works just fine for backup/restore/flashing.
Thanks, OP!

You keep posting over here in the Note5 forums, why don't you head over there and wait for root/TWRP/etc? You should probably avoid flashing any of these things on your Edge+, but you do what you want.

No one there has even started a thread
related to a compatible twrp or root for
the G928T phone.
Since the Note 5 and the S6 Edge+ have
almost identical specs and hardware I am
hoping that perhaps twrp and root might
be similar enough to be interchangeable.

Patience is a virtue TWRP might work, but I'm sure there are kernel differences between the 2 and you might have issues if you flash that kernel to get root. Better to wait it out and keep the thread on topic about the Note5.

Sent from my SM-N920T using Tapatalk
nevermind
I would say if your worried about Samsung pay not working, maybe wait until Samsung pay actually comes out and see if some other brave tries this and then tries using Samsung pay to see if it works. No need to get your panties in a bunch before we even know for sure.
I'm not concerned about something I won't use. I have root so I'm happy. Bring on the roms. Don't harass the devs to make a special Samsung Pay root either lol. Not happening.
Sent from my SM-N920T using Tapatalk
Charlieb620, you have root, but does your fingerprint reader still work? Also, if you could, link the 2 threads you followed for rooting. I know of the TWRP thread, but the root method thread...?
Thinking about unlocking.
With no Xposed working for 7.1 is it even worth unlocking and rooting?

Thank you for the first answer.
Could have done without the smart ass ad-libbing. If you're an admin or moderator you could simply move it. Or better yet. Politely instruct me on where it would better be suited.

Even without xposed, there are so many things to do with unlocked and rooted phone.

That's a tough question without knowing how long you've had the device, are you locked and unrooted now, do you use Android Pay and most of all what do you need or expect to gain from unlocking and root? Personally, I'd just leave the oem unlock toggle enabled and stick with a locked bl on stock rom, at least for a while. If you can't stand it or just need to mess around then unlock and flash. Just not enough info to make an informed suggestion, however.
Personally, it's worth it just for ad-blocking alone. I also am a fan of being able to use Titanium Backup. It's so nice setting up scheduled cloud backups of apps so that you know if anything ever happened to your device you'd still have all your data. But if you're at all interested in tinkering with your device I'd say it's worth doing.

It depends on if you are wanting to do something that requires it to be unlocked. If all you want to use is Exposed, and given that it's not running on 7.1, then I would say no. You need to give us more to go on.
First time owning a device that isn't unlocked, rooted, and with a custom OS. I'm happy with the stock experience, but the ads on apps and search and webpages are driving me crazy. I'm also not a huge fan of not being able to use Titanium Backup to save my exact configuration. Can I unlock and root the device and still receive OTAs? Or do I need to sideload them? Really looking forward to installing AdAway.

Sideload, it's simple enough

a) That post is 7 month old when we are already at May security patch and not advisable to use patches which cannot be verified
b) best bet is to check out the guide threads https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-3-xl/how-to/guide-pixel-xl-android-9-0-pie-unlock-t3857195

Thanks for the heads up. That thread seems to point to the magisk install guide here: https://topjohnwu.github.io/Magisk/install.html
Can anyone confirm that this method, under "Boot Image Patching" works as described for Pixel 3?
Want to make sure I understand the steps before running into issues I've encountered in other devices. Appreciate the patience.

So to give more of the backstory I have an unlocked one +7 pro 5G that I flash the European firmware to and what I’m trying to do now is flash a custom ROM onto my 1+7 pro 5G. When I brought up TWRP any time I try to flash any ROM, whether it be lineage or something else I get that error saying that the ROM I selected failed and I exactly sure what’s causing that to happen.

I had problems with the flash from recovery with the version 3.4.0-0 of the twrp, using the version 3.3.1-79 the flash happens correctly...could this be the problem?

I would try a deep clean:
Complete reset with deletion of the internal storage
Stock firmware reinstallation via fastboot, here you find everything.
Unlock bootloader and root with latest magisk release and twrp 3.3.1-79
Installation of the crDroid rom
I have no other ideas also because I cannot see the images with the error that appears when you try the flash.

The kind of error seems to indicate problems accessing the system partition, as if root privileges are missing.
I believe that with deep clean it can be solved.

Stick with OOS... There's practically no ROM out there made to work with the 5G version of the the OP7Pro.
Only 4G version works with all ROMs , that's probably your issue.
A guy was trying to flash RR in his 5G not too long ago and he ran into issues too.

what's the adb pull command? Damn internet isn't giving the answer I'm looking for. Can we use "shared" boot images or is that a bad idea?
Thanks.

Hi,
Which TWRP did you use? I don't see one for and 8T on https://twrp.me/Devices/
I have unlocked the boot loader on my tmo KB2007 and would like to root it. I've yet to find a magisk apk manager or app that works so any info would be great.
BTW, I don't mind keeping the stock tmo img.
Thank you!

I saw the screen shot and noticed that the phone build is kb2007. Did you use a different boot image to bypass tmobile's software? I'm probably "over-thinking" this. In addition, I can't get magisk canary build to stick.
