bootloop after flashing a custom rom - Sony Xperia XZ Premium Questions & Answers

hi everyone, i have difficulty flashing a custom rom on my Xzp. No matter which custom rom i installed, i never success due to the bootloop. i've checked it's not a problem of firmware/twrp/Emma/newsflasher/binaries/driver and i've followed the steps strictly.
i tried PE and lineageos, there is an error message when i installed Gapps(sth like error 20).
i didn't get a micro sd card so i used Usb-otg to install the zip files.
adb sideload doesn't work for me as my pc didn't recognize my device(but other adb command works fine)
Can anyone help!!! million thanks

Infuse not mounting SD card

Hello all,
My little brother has bought this phone a few months ago and he is having the error above. I am able to see the sd card via recovery but once the os has loaded the sd card cannot be mounted. I've tried with three different SD cards already, same issue. I've even tried to format it on the phone to no prevail. I was going to try another rom to see if that fixes the problem but since the os cannot mount the sd card I cannot put the files on the phone. When I try to mount via PC it doesn't recognize it at all. PLEASE HELP!

If you can see the SD card mounted in recovery then you should be able to flash the ROM. Can you not see your files in recovery? Is the phone rooted?
The phone is rooted but I cannot get to cwm. I always get to stock recovery "Android system recovery <3e>" and when I try to flash it gives me the signature verification error.

First sounds like you do not have cwm. See my links in my signature for the iset page, there are odin and one click methods listed and while your add it just to help you better understand read my other link, i understand your doing this for your brother...
I've installed a Gingerbread rom from Jscott30 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1613523 that came with CWM and I installed a CWM alone via Odin. The rom said it came with everything I needed but I can't boot into the CWM.
I actually had the same problem with the SD card.I was also using the same Gingerbread Rom .I tried installing CWM separately still i was getting the signature verification error. So i went ahead and installed the rooted stock version which was available from the below thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1092021
Now i am using the REMICS rom and the SD card problem has been fixed.

help! please

Hello, Good afternoon.
So here's my problem, as you may or may not have (hopefully you have) read the post title i am having troubles with my CWM mounting my SD card so that i am able to either A: Load a ROM or B: connect it to my PC via usb so i can transfer over a ROM.
I have used the all in one toolkit to unlock my bootloader and root my phone, i have also installed the latest versions of SU, so originally after doing all of this everything was fine, A-OK. i then proceeded to download one of the cyanogenmod nightlies via CWM (the latest i believe) this is where as they say "**** hit the fan" so it seemed like everything installed all fine but then it reboots and nothing for hours it was just stuck on the HTC screen. i then switched the phone off and booted into recovery (volume down and power button) i then not sue it if was the right thing to do i wiped the data from the phone thinking it was corrupted and could simply put a new rom on via usb and boot it. however i have the problem of it not being able to mount my USB either to the pc or on the phone it self, i believe i still have access to the phone via ADB (im not 100% sure what ADB is) but i can flash new recoveries via CMD prompt. i have tried older CWM (modecco < did i spell this right? its the touch CWM) and i also tried TWRP Recoveries both of which cannot mount SD card and recieve the error "unable to open ums Lunfile" or "error mounting SD card".
i have searched many of the forums but form what i can see my solution requires me to boot into the OS but i cant do that nor can i mount my SD card to load a new one i.e putting on an Update.zip file to load a rom/os to the phone.
i dont generally ask for help as i enjoy trying to solve these issue and problems but i have been trying for a few days now and thought i would ask the experts.
any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

TWRP 0mb internal storage

Hi!
I tried to install rom2sd on my SD card. Suddenly, after following this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47333729&postcount=31
The internal storage just disappeared. I've tried to format but no luck. The tablet won't even recognize it's internal storage. Is it a hardbrick? I can access TWRP but nothing more (havn't tried fastboot since i don't know if i can get into recovery again after rebooting). I've also tried to install a custom rom from an SD-card but no luck.
anyone with some ideas?
Please help

I solved the problem! After some hours i managed to install CWM and then TWRP again. Works as a charm now. Though, i won't dare to install ROM2SD again ^^ I'm fine with DATA2SD.

Troubleshhoting ROOT problem, please help!

So here's the thing. I have a Galaxy Note Edge SM-N915T (UVU1ANK3) I wanted to root it and am stuck in a state I cannot seem to get out of after searching all over the internet for. I got TWRP on the phone but that's about it, the interesting thing that I challenge anyone to help fix is how to get SuperSU on the internal SD from my computer since I cant get the phone to go past the Note Edge startup screen (I'll come back to this) and when I plug the phone into the computer it won't recognize it to pull up the storage. The other problem is in TWRP, it says there is no OS installed so I cannot do anything on the phone at all other than TWRP and the flashing screen. When I try to install ROM's I get an error code of fused 2> binary 1 not sure what all that stuff means.
In Summary:
1. No OS installed
2. SuperSU unable to put in internal SD
3. Fail to flash ROM's to phone.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Have you tried flashing via adb? And tell me whats the version of yor twrp btw. You might need to switch in cwm recovery though as that one worked for me in my gsmart phone

Okay I'll start from the important to the less.
1/3.No OS installed:
Make sure you are using the latest and the correct twrp for your device (TWRP 3.1.0) through odin
Here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4092902
Or twrp recovery -or any other custom rom-
https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4092901
And you can try installing a custom ROM through it
P.S you can't flash official tar or tar.md5 files through twrp
Or get into download mode and flash official frimware with odin
2. Rooting:You got 3 options
-moving it after flashing the firmware through odin -or a custom rom-
-puting the SD card in another phone to move the zip file to it
-using card reader to move through pc
works also if you couldn't port the right zip custom

No OS installed message in twrp in ONE plus one

HI All,
Post this week, i tried to flash the lineage 15.1 in my One plus one using TWRP. Actually, I want this to be clean flash, so i wiped cache, system & Data except Internal storage. When I flashed the ROM, I got ERROR 7 and eventually it was failed. So i tried to reboot my mobile and in reboot screen I saw this message "NO OS IS INSTALLED ARE YOU SURE TO REBOOT"? and when i rebooted my device, its showing ONE PLUS logo and Android logo. Also, whenever i tried to connect my device to laptop, its not getting detected and it showing message" as malfunctioned. Above all, to the height of stupidity, I didnt take a backup before I flash this rom.
Please someone help me to resolve this issue.
TWRP version?
can you connect your phone to a desktop/laptop?
if possible , then just download the rom of your choice, copy it into your phone's internal storage. and flash it.

Thanks for the reply .
TWRP version is 3.0.2-0. And my device is not getting detected when i connect it to laptop. And OTG is not detected in TWRP.
you will need TWRp 3.2.1-0
no roms in your internal storage?
guess you will need to find a desktop/laptop which will recognise your OPO.

Try booting in your recovery. Normally your PC can detect the device as USB storage. Than copy the actual recovery (I think it's version 3.2.1) and the zip file of your rom to the device.
Then install the new recovery from within the recovery.
Reboot in to the new recovery. Install your rom and reboot.
Sorry for not giving links to the latest recovery. But in not at home. Hope I could help.

Eh.. You're welcome? lol
Driver issue? 15 second adb installer kicks ass when getting your system flash-ready.

lucky you.
take this as a lesson learnt.
always keep some roms/gaaps in your internal storage so that you can flash from twrp in case a similar incident happens in future. or make sure you have an OTG cable+USB thumbdrive which you can use if a PC is not available.
Use the official TWRP 3.2.1-0 and update when available.
Keep a nandroid copy
KEEP A COPY OF YOUR IMEI/MODEMS SOMEWHERE
