!'m using GSam Battery Monitor Pro. Parts of this program usually require root but with a couple of adb commands once installed you can find whats really sucking your battery.

[R] - Battery charging level app

I haven't been able to find an app that gives an accurate battery charging amount that works with the N5. The one I used was CurrentBattery, but the figure is obviously incorrect (while not plugged in it said it was charging at ~300-500mAh, and then plugged in it was charging at ~800-1000mAh).
What I want is a way to see how much the battery is charging when plugged in and then on the Qi charger I use. What app are you guys using that actually works?

Download the battery monitor widget from the play store. It just got updated to support the nexus 5 today
weird, nexus 5 doesn't like betterbatterystats app or GSAM battery pro app, both do NOT work

Ya, I'm not sure this one's working either. At rest it's saying I'm at -900mAh. If that were the case the battery would last like 2 and change hours before going dead. Putting it on the Qi charger says -30mAh. Since it actually charges while being on the charger, I'd say that's not correct either.

It has notrhing to do with Nexus 5 not liking anything, its just not updated for 4.4. BetterBatteryStats has been updated to 4.4 just a couple days ago though.

I already tried it, and it didn't work.
Also, again, BetterBatteryStats doesn't give an actual voltage usage. You can't tell how much, in mAh, the device is using or gaining. There appear to only be a select-few apps that do it, and none seem to work correctly with KitKat.
Unless my battery actually is burning ~900mAh just by sitting idle. The Battery widget says my battery would be dead in 2:40, which is ridiculous.

Holy Battery...

I have never had a battery be this good. Rooted with Greenify. Running Skyfall.
Kinda ridiculous. 16 hours and 60% full over here on just regular power save mode....SkyFall also
Yeah this phone gets way better battery life than my s4 did with same size battery. Love it. Does greenify really work that well? I have never used it as I have great battery life without it.

Lots of reviewers are talking about how the M8's battery lasted longer than the S5 too. Samsung needs to stop slacking on the software and give us a lightweight touchwiz. I absolutely love Sense 6 and I'm usually an AOSP guy. I'll probably try out GPE Roms once they're stable but honestly the new sense is everything I want out of android software. Minimal, clean, customizable, smooth and fast.

Twrp here. I've always been wary of cwm. Lol. No joke. And yes, the battery on this is ridiculous! I used the ONE MAX today to do a test. And we all know, it Has a bigger battery, 3300 mh. The M8 beat the MAX. Did the exact same things throughout the day, and no lie, the M8 won the test.

Don't get me wrong, I'm getting great battery life as well (though coming from a VZW GNex, anything would be an improvement). However...posting screenshots of how long your device has been off the charger with no other information (screen on time, app battery use) doesn't tell us anything.
Hell, I could leave my phone at home on wifi with the screen off and not touch it for the next 3 days, take a screenshot of any remaining battery life, and post it being like "OMG I got 3 days of battery life, this is amazing!" And it would be just about as informative and truthful as your screenshots (not including yours Evocm7, obviously).
sorry im kind of a noob i am aware of greenify i have used it but whats skyfall? I tried searching but nothing is coming up but james bond.
EDIT: Sorry havent looked at roms yet im just rooted atm

I hear what you're saying. Personally, I'm not trying to participate in any scientific study on the matter. All I know, and all I care, is that I've had the phone off charge for 29 hours now... using it the way I normally use it during an average day ( pretty light)... and I'm still at 40% battery.
Coming from a malfunctioning POS Droid Charge this phone is a godsend. I used to have to carry an extra battery just to get through an 8 hour shift at work starting on a full charge.

lol I came from a GNex, so we're probably in the same boat. Even on wifi with extremely minimal use (10-15m screen time all day, which with how slow and laggy it was I didn't really care)), I would be down into the 60%'s by bedtime. If I went to the gym with full battery, after listening to Pandora while doing weights, and watching Netflix during cardio, it would be into 20-30% by the time I left, total of maybe 1 1/2 - 2 hours.
I flashed Skyfall the other day after charging my phone to full, and by the time I was done flashing, re-installing everything from TiBu, updating a few out-of date apps, and setting everything up, it was down to maybe 95%. And that was with the screen on for probably 20 minutes straight.

I think taking into consideration the snapdragon 801 chip how it saves battery, sense 6 being light weight, if one needs to you have the choices of battery save mode and if that's not enough extreme battery save mode! This phone came built up from the floor up. Now if we just had the 1.56 software version with all the above included stock and operating correctly, I'm sure we would see even more battery savings!

There are very few "de facto standards" for anything in the Android ecosystem...which is why we like it. I use a combination of GSAM Battery Monitor with the root companion, and Wakelock Detector.
Dont get me wrong, I get decent battery life, but nothing like you guys. For those of you with amazing OST are you guys using Google Now? I just installed wake lock detector to see what is causing my batt to drain more than others.

[Q] Way to find out why phone not deep sleeping?

I am running Skyfall with stock kernel. I was getting decent battery life, but today noticed that phone was awake for 2 of the 4 hours that it was off the charger. I have gsam and wake detector and wake detector shows nothing crazy that wakes it. I did disable location reporting, so maybe that might be pissing off some apps? I have not installed any new apps, only change was location reporting.
Thanks in advance.
Here is what I use,
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.uzumapps.wakelockdetector
Works great for helping to find those pesky apps.

It seemed like it. I installed it while I still had BBS running. While I was running GSAM my awake time was about 2.5 hours out of just under 4 hrs total and the phone was just in my pocket most of the time. After I removed it and rebooted the awake time stayed proportional to the time I was actually using it. Other than turning on WiFi optimization I can't think of anything else I did. So it may have been either one but I didn't have WiFi optimization on before I installed GSAM and my battery life was okay.

I have tried with and without gsam. I flashed the lastest firmware and radios and also the snapdragon app that monitors your use and is supposed to save on battery and today I got 3 hours of SOT, off charger for 16 hours and still have 55% left. And wake time back down to normal use. Im about to flash the latest Skyfall so we will see how things go on that build.
So started getting bad wake locks again. I looked and saw media server using a good portion. I have 0 media on my phone as I just stream. Anyone else seeing this issue?

Battery saving apps

There are plenty of apps which supposedly save battery life majorly by real-time optimizations. The most popular seems to be Battery Doctor and Clean Master which also have very high ratings on Google Play. Does anybody use them? What's your experience on their battery impact? Do they really make any difference?
All I use is Greenify. It's an awesome app and a ton of people swear by it.
Honestly battery apps make it worse. Greenify is the exception.

I'm always running out of battery. I went dead in the first few hours today and then I used my Chromecast to watch the interview and was at 50% when I started. Screen off entire time 17% at the end. Now 15. Idk what to do about this drain. I've gotten lucky once with 4 hours screen on time though

Not sure why you'd expect good battery whilst casting. Its a massive battery drain, using wireless to send data. Especially large chunks over prolonged periods.

I'm not convinced that's accurate, but even if you're right, there is a constant connection between Chromecast and your device, with wakelocks and large data usage.

Yes, sorry you're right. I've read up how Chromecast works and it is different to others, as you say.
It actually doesn't make sense that it would cause drain.
As for 3.5 hours screen, that's not abnormal.

Run your phone until it's had a good run (80% battery used or something) and post as many gsam and android battery stats as possible in that thread. Use
tags so people dont have to load all pictures unless they want to. Make sure you go into teh battery graph in andoid and screenshot that and also into the big offenders, like screen so they can see how long things have ben running
Chromecast does not stream data from the phone unless its local media. If you want to see for yourself, stream a netflix movie and turn off your phone once it starts playing.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Battery Life

Hi,
It has been a week since i bought my s7. I was not quite pleased with the battery life. It was just ok. But now it is getting worse.
battery is 10% at the time of writing this.
Total usage is 22 hours
Screen on time is 3 hours
Android system is taking 23% battery
Screen 19 %
Facebook 17 %
Is this normal? I was expecting atleast 4 to 5 hours SOT?
I have the AOD turned on. Sync is always off. I dont even have the mobile data turned on. I mostly use wifi for facebook and browsing.
Any suggestions on how to improve it?
Aod takes 1% in 1 hour. Facebook takes too much but its known issue. Facebook knows that too and making fix right now. You can disable and enable it and then it will be ok.
Sent from my SM-G930F using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Though I own a S7 Edge, the following is from my experience with Note II & S2. I am not facing this with S7 Edge.
When I get a new device or get updates, I do a factory reset and start over. Just clearing the cache doesn't help.
I am using Package Disabler Pro to disable apps when not required and it doesn't require root access.

Disable aod. Aod doesn't let doze kick in. So idle drain with AOD is 2-3% per hr.

Hello, I'd like some help about battery drain too.
I've been using my S7 for 4 months and never made factory reset after the OTA updates.
Today, for example, the battery level fell down from 100 to 43% in 6 hours.
I've taken some screenshots from battery usage screen and the items described inside de Android System item, which is the most drainer one.
If you could give me your thoughts and forgive my poor English, I'd appreciate!
I had the complete opposite to you, well in the first few weeks anyways. It would take like an hour to kill like 3% and I left my phone at 60% once, left it overnight without charge and only dropped 2% - This was the case a number of times
Fjesuino. I wiped my cache, and the battery time did improve a little. Try it out, it might work. But i think there is something wrong with your device android system and sd shouldn't be that high.

S7 Exynos and back then I didn't really use AOD. It wouldn't be fair to show battery usage right now though as I'm using quite a heavy custom kernel.
As well as all the other tips you're getting above, I'd recommend flashing the Hydra ROM onto your phone as there are a lot of features to save battery. It ports to the Note 7 and you get features like reducing screen resolution, reduce background processes, it's even got its own RAM manager.
Personally, I don't see the battery as that much of an issue though and I do bash my phone a lot through the day as well.
Have you got a lot of apps installed? Do you have a SD?

The phones here in pakistan are mostly "smuggled" or imported. I have an imported one from canada g930w8, so it's without warranty.
But i dont want to root it, i have used many custom roms on previous android devices. i personally dont like third party ROMs that much. So i'll just debloat the current one.
