USB-C 2.0, upgrade to 3.1? - Xiaomi Poco F2 Pro (Redmi K30 Pro) Questions & Ans

I was a little disappointed after buying my Poco f2 pro to find the USB-C was not USB 3.1 or 3.0 and just 2.0 . I am guess it is a hardware restriction... I was looking at the teardown and the USB PCB is quite small and independent. IF someone made a USB 3.0 version, could it be swapped and would it work?
One of the main things I would was from the USB 3.0 upgrade would be the ability to use USB-C to hdmi dongles etc...

Of course this Is impossible my friend!

Any Xiaomi device is with USB 2.0 and no, there is no way for 3.0

[Q] Transformer and usb 3.0

Hey guys i just got a new motherboard for my computer and it has usb 3.0. I know the transformers usb cable is a 3.0 cable, but when i plug it in to the 3.0 it says device cant be started. But if i plug it in the 2.0 it works great. So is the problem with my transformer? Or the motherboard? i dont have another 3.0 device to try but i did try a 2.0 device in the 3.0 port and it also didnt work. I know its 2.0 compatible.
Any help is appreciated! Thanks!
You should try another USB3 device.
It sounds like it is your motherboard, because USB3 is backwards compitable with USB2, so if the USB device doesn't support USB3 it should pop up as a USB2 device.
In your case it is not functioning at all.
Try another USB3/USB2 device in the same port and check if it is working.

Thanks so much for the help! I dont have any other 3.0 devices but i will try other 2.0 and and see what i get. If all else fails i will just return the mobo and get a new one.
I think you might be wrong about the transformer being usb 3.0 compatible. The transformer cord uses a usb 3.0 connector wired up in a propriotary way to enable an 11 volt power connection for charging. This is not supported by the usb 3.0 spec and it might screw up the backwards compatibility of the port.

Future of USB-C Connector (USB 3.1 / DisplayPort / OTG / MHL)

Hello XDA Crew and tech enthusiasts!
I wanted to see if anyone has a little insider knowledge about Android OEM's incorporating USB 3.1 and DisplayPort over USB, into future device USB-C connections? I'm doubting it would be a simple software switch in Marshmallow to enable these features on the current devices with USB-C, since it takes a whole different pin out on the soldered USB-C connector. It doesn't look like the iFixit teardowns show this implementation. However, the Snapdragon 810 chipset must be capable of it, since Microsoft is using it.
I've been hesitant to pull the plug on any of the new Android phones with the new USB-C connector, with USB 2.1. data connection and no DiplayPort over USB:

I guess it looks like there are going to be some nice features in the future. If the OEM's implement it, being able to dock a phone that has USB 3.1 + DisplayPort will open up new possibilities. I liked Microsoft's implementation, except I'd rather have Android's ecosystem!
It looks like Microsoft's new Lumia's do have USB-C + 3.1 + DisplayPort and the current Snapdragon 810 is definitely capable:

Is the included USB-C to USB-A adapter not USB 3.0/3.1?

I tried plugging in a USB 3.0 flash drive to the included USB-C to USB-A adapter that came with my phone, but the drive is running at 2.1 speeds. I tried a 3rd party hub that has USB-C to HDMI and USB-A 3.0, but the flash drive isn't even recognized by the system. Does the Galaxy S8 even support USB host mode at 3.0 or 3.1 speeds?
I am curious also. I have wondered this since note 7

What's more confusing is when I connect the stock USB-C to USB-A cable that came with the phone to my PC's USB 3.0 port, it comes in as a USB2.1 device... I think Samsung might have gone cheap on the USB 3.1 controller on the phone...
So, I went to Best Buy today and bought a USB-C to USB-A 3.1 adaptor, plugged my 3.0 USB Flash drive into it and my S8 recognized it as a 3.0 device instead of 2.1. So yes, the USB-C to USB-A dongle included with the S8 is in fact only a USB-A 2.1 port, but the S8 itself is capable of 3.0 at least. In addition, I got a USB-A 3.1 to USB-C cable and checked the USB mode on my PC and it registered as 3.1, so it looks like the cable included with the charger is also 2.1 and not 3.0/3.1

Will HDMI to USB-C adapters work with the OnePlus 6

I saw that the OnePlus 5T doesn't support HDMI to USB-C adapters, but maybe this has changed with the OnePlus 6? Is there any other way to connect the phone to your monitor? Cheers!
Chromecast
I don't think it support usb-c to hdmi, that the reason it prevent me getting op6. According to gsmarena' s specs it use the slow usb 2.0 type c. I want to play emulators on big screen so casting doesn't cut it. On ly a few flagships from Huawei, Samsung, LG, Google support usb type c 3.1
nope just tested it, doesn't work.
If is real ! It's a bad news !!!
Any solution ?
use displaylink adapters. have a look at the op5 section on xda. its discussed there and there are good solutions. usb 2.0 sucks anyway. will wait for the next gereration and hope they change the usb chip

Hi guys, I got a usb 3.0 I used to use on my Samsung, now I got an adaptor for my op6, I have an issue, everything works great, but the videos are laggy, what could this be any ideas, adaptor fault, or the usb is too slow?
I got an adaptor with my Mayflash Magic-NS wireless adaptor. It's working nicely on my Switch and on my phone (yeah I can use various wireless controllers, some of which would not work well on android due to this device). Works for my USB disk on this phone nicely too.
