Im doing some smuggling business in my country, Android tablets are very popular, and I get good price difference when buying in China and selling in my country.
First time - I bought FT2 (Superpad, Infotmicx220) and 2 units were faulty.
second time - I bought FR-809's and one unit was broken.
so, I was trying to fix it on my own, and opened the unit (no screws version, dual speaker) and it was bad soldering. the battery/SoC connection was off, so I fixed it.
now the tablet works, but I already sold all other units, so I want to experiment.
One of my broken Superpads is with internal GPS receiver, no need for GPS Antenna. so, Idea struck me - could it be possible to solder GPS unit onto the Freescale SoC .. ?
Android would handle the reception, it's all there, I just need to figure out if it's possible, and if there is even an option to solder GPS receiver onto SoC ?
that internal receiver from Superpad is awesome, and it would be awesome if I could have GPS on my FR-809 tablet.
could someone please tell me is there a "free slot" for soldering stuff. like a PCI bus on motherboards ? and, would system be able to recognize the newly soldered GPS receiver ?
anyone ?
Im also thinking about soldering SIM slot onto it, at least for 3G cause i believe it needs a whole lots of other stuff for GSM function to be enabled (voice radio, n such)
Does anyone have a better or updated app for the built in PX5 TPMS feature/software? I'm running a newly purchased 4/32gb octacore px5 (branded XTRONS 9" Octa-Core Android 8.0 Car Head Unit GPS Stereo DAB+ 4G for BMW E46 M3) with a 9in screen running Android 8.
I've just installed the internal replacement valve TPMS sensors on mine and the TPMS module itself. Having issues with reception (2 out of 4 sensors reading) and the box that's installed, but apparently it doesn't want to be near other electrics so I will move it up the dash towards the vents to fix that as I believe it's a radio reception issue.
The app seems to lack functionality though, I can't see how to pair a new sensor, say for example a spare wheel addition or replacing a wheel. The app also seems to forget it I swap the sensor positions (front and rear right sensors were put on the wrong rims by the tyre shop), I have swapped the front to the rear and after a fresh startup of the head unit after parking the car it's then forgotten that I swapped sensor positions.
Does anyone have a better version of the APK at all?
Is it a USB TPMS unit or does it connect directly to one of the connectors on the back of the radio?
If it is directly connected, try going into Factory Settings and change the TPMS type. Each type runs a different app and some are better than others.
If it is a USB unit, I have a few apks that came with my generic unit that might prove helpful.

i have the same problem, can you fixed?

Got the same issues with one of the sensors being a replacement and not detected by the box.
Has anyone figured out how reprogram it so it accepts the new sensor?
That learning feature when you press the button in the app doesn't seem to do anything - it just fails after some waiting.
The sensors have an unique id code written on them? Does the code need to be entered in some config file?
Hi yes it is a common problem for me but when the vehicle is moving the sensor reads fine
Hello to everybody. I have a problem with tpms... I need a apk file for install the app. because I don't have on my stereo and I don't know why. someone has a original file ?

If you have these APKs, can you please share? Thanks!
Sorry if this has been covered already, or if I'm posting in the wrong area.. my brain is melting do to information overload.
Long story short, questions after:
Currently running px3 1gb, 5.1, with bt/wifi issues. I had used a usb-ethernet dongle hooked up to a Asus 330GE portable router in bridge mode. BT Connected and fast network. Woot.
I'm going to be giving my car to my sister, but I feel like the px3/1gb would be dangerously slow. (Keeping android HU for the backup cam I have wired.)
Questions:
1a. There are no bt/wifi chips that can replace (soldering) the current chip to fix the wifi slowdown issue - correct?
1b. Disconnecting the internal module and using USB dongle = same issue - Correct?
1c. Is this because of a USB hub issue I think I read about?
1d. If you have a type2 md725 module, BT does not connect with 8.0 at all, but a type1 can be connected in order to use 8.0, with the wifi-slowdown-when-bt-connected issue persisting - correct?
1e. (bonus) Are there type1 md725 usb dongles?
2a. Do you think a px30 2/16 core board upgrade would be sufficient (not slow as molasses) for basic simultaneous navigation + a2dp/radio/internal player ? (leaving out the assumption that the bt/wifi issue would persist. Talking about system speed wise)
2b. Do you think it would be necessary to bump up to px5 4/32 for $50cad?
3. Why do some of the new DSP eq's show a frequency adjustment low of 25hz, and some 20hz?
4a. What's the deal with these Android GO 8.1/9.0 1gb/16gb units? (I doubt I'd go this route, but just curious.)
4b. Wondering if this 8.1/9.0 GO could be ported to older p3, or p5 2gb units?)
5a. Does the bt-connected-wifi-slowdown issue still remain with these newer p5 units?
5b. Is there a simple way to confirm this other than msging seller for usb hub/wifi/bt specs?
These seem to be the best prices I could find for possible solutions:
*$117ca px30 2/16 Witson coreboard
*$165ca px5 4/32Witson coreboard
*$275cad 4/32 without DSP
*$320cad 4/32 TDA7851 + ST7786
First choice, thinking of upgrading to the px5 4/32
Would like to save 50$ if possible by using a px30 2/16
Would like to save all the monies by somehow convincing humans greater than myself to port 8.1/9.0 GO over? (assuming this would be quick enough)
*!HeadEsplode!*
When I do get this sorted (new(to me) vehicle acquired, current vehicle to sister,) I will most likey be going the 4/32 px5 DSP route, or possibly px6. (or Intel?) (Headexplodeagain!)
Hoping someone out there can steer me right ...
PX6 upgrade
I have the same set of questions, but also would like to add PX6 board in the list. Does anyone tried upgrading PX3 to PX6 on MTCD board?

I'm not sure, but I found this on another thread:
" yes, you can use the updates listed as PX6 (as they show PX5 once you download them). "

I'm thinking yes. Have you seen any px6 coreboards for sale yet? Maybe there will be a group buy ..

This guy says yes

Just to tag on and answer some of OP's questions as I'm in a similar situation:
1.d - You're correct (from all the reading I've done too). There's type 1 and type 2 MD725, with type 2 not working with android 8.0 due to driver issues.
1.e - There are usb dongles with Type 1: Comfast WU725B. This apparently solves people's issues.
2.a Although the PX30 should be better in terms of speed, I'm pretty sure you will still get a bit of lag with navigation (generally loading things up) but otherwise ok once running as long as there isn't too much running in the background. That is just an assumption as I don't have any experience with a PX30...but I do own a PX3 with 2GB RAM which is meant to be slightly worse than the PX30.
2.b. You'll be better off getting the PX5 if you're doing a coreboard upgrade anyway...I regret to not going the PX5 route from the beginning.
Now a question for everyone else:
I'm looking to upgrade my PX3 (2GB/32GB) with a PX5 coreboard. It appears only Rev8 PX5 Coreboards are available now which come with android 8.0 and the warning about Bluetooth and wireless potentially not working (which we know about MD725 type 1 and 2).
However my MTCE unit has Bluetooth module SD968 (with a separate wireless card) and I can't find any mention if I will have any problems if I upgrade the coreboard.
Does anyone know if the SD968 works fine with Android 8.0 PX5 coreboard?

Yes it does. That is the combo that i'm running in one of my radios.
Perfect! Thanks for confirming that. Guess there's nothing stopping me now, unless a PX6 board magically appears lol.
What do so have?
Hi there,
Sorry to open an old thread.
I have been reading up for ages but can't identify what MCU I have, is anyone able to tell me from the pictures or do I need to physically take it out and check?
Thanks.
anybody know where i can buy px5 or px6 core board? xtrons want to sell me the px5 4/32 for 150$! it is too expensive!
Hi, I have a px3 board with mtcd software and want to upgrade to px5. My board has a md725 Bluetooth chip installed so could anyone advise me on a suitable upgrade path as the 1gb of ram is killing me ha many thanks!

Hi, I have a px3 with md725 bluetooth on mtcd software. I would like to upgrade to a px5 board so could anyone point me to a listing which I can purchase from that will work? I dont want to lose any functionality of the Bluetooth/WiFi so I'm not bothered if it's running on android 8 or below or 9 if possible. Also should I upgrade to mtce first or after upgrade or does it not matter? Many thanks

what I would like to do is update the software on this unit because it still running android 7. I wanna see if I can get Apple CarPlay on this unit.. possibly wireless carplay since there is wifi and blue tooth on the unit. also if I can only get wired CarPlay where would be a good place to see if I can get a USB cable for this unit I don’t know if it’s a four or six pin usb In finding one online has been a little dicey having to go outside of Amazon. I’d love to hear what you guys do since this form is for the experts

Xtrons is OK. Read post #1 of this thread about the DAB-Z app and compatibility.
