Google Pay Card Switcher - Google Pixel 3 Questions & Answers

I just updated my Pixel 3 from Google to July Android 10, stock rooted with Magisk, and noticed that the Google Pay card switcher (long press on power button) was active. I ended up shutting it off, because I wasn't planning on using Google Pay. Well, I changed my mind and set it up, but now I can't reenable having the card switcher. There is now no switch to reenable it in the Pay app.
Any thoughts?

In settings, type power in the search bar at the top. Then look for "show cards & passes". Turn it on and it should get you the card switcher back. If it's not there, I don't know what to tell you.

In a million years I would never have thought to check there... Why that setting is not in the Google Pay app is beyond me... Oh well, the miracles of Android never fail to amaze, and confuse! Now, if I can get my dialer app back into light mode, I would be happy!

[Q] How can I turn off Google Now being always on when swiping to the right?

After unlocking my phone, I get to my home screen with all my folders etc. As soon as I swipe to the right, I get Google Now!
It's as if it's an always on widget. On my N4, I would invoke Google Now by holding the Home key and swiping upwards (which I can also do with my N5).
Is this something that can be switched off or is this an integrated function of the system?
I'm not looking to switch off Google Now before anybody asks.

As far as I can see the only option would be to either A) Uninstall Google Now, or B) Install a different Home Launcher ... Neither are suitable resolutions to your question. I personally like having it as a home screen since I turned off my softkeys in Lieu of LMS
The only thing I can think of is switch launchers to nova or something similar. You would lose the "OK Google" function from the launcher though., so not a good solution if you use that function. As far as I know there is now way to remove it from the stock launcher.

Thanks guys.
I don't mind having it but just wasn't sure if it was a feature that can be turned off without completely disabling Google Now.
Battery life is quite impressive on this thing even with it always on!

It does not disable Google now entirely just the extra screen, maybe you should try it before you respond with useless replies.

This page is the same page as if you went into settings from Google Now Directly. This will turn it off.

[Q] Arranging apps in alphabetical order

So the menu button used to be on S3 / Note 3 / etc other Samsung phones has been replaced with the recent apps button. Is there any way I can sort the apps in alphabetical order instead of the manual way now? I liked that feature in my Note 3, how do I go to settings page in an app without the button?

That's odd. Double check your Accessibility settings to see if there's something in there causing that behavior.

i think it's default, i'm on t-mobile and any app i have open, long pressing recent apps button goes to split screen mode. I do however have a moveable floating menu widget that i can move around and also tap to show a menu screen for a few of my apps.

If that's the default, that's brutal. I really hope my Canadian S6 isn't going to be like that.
Worst case, I guess there are always ROMs or root-based mods.

Because for a lot of people the option simply isn't there. I believe it was added in a software revision that went out some time after the review units were sent out, but that's just speculation.

Ah okay well then that makes perfect sense
The Canadian S6's are like that too, you can rearrange the apps how you want them but no alphabetical. Also, you need lightflow to control the LED, I'm coming from the oneplus one and I miss the control of the LED!
Uk S6 doesnt have option either, really irritating not being able to auto arrange. why on earth did they remove that?!
On my sprint s6 I can sorry by ABC from an icon in top right of the app drawer... I click it... And it sorts them...
OMG did they really get rid of this? It is not there on the Canadian model.
Also removed on german Vodafone model. :/
Also not on the Australian model on Telstra.

Ok Google Ding sound/confirmation beep?

When saying ok google on my s10 plus it made a ding sound to let you know it has opened and is ready for your question. I cant figure out how to turn on the ding sound. I can get google assistant to open with ok or hey google but no sound. Anyone know how?

Open Google Home app. Select your device and then Settings. Scroll down to “Device settings,” then select Accessibility. If you want to hear a sound only after you say “OK Google,” turn on the toggle On next to Play start sound and leave the Play end sound slider off Off.
If you want your device to play a sound after you say “OK Google” and after Assistant stops listening, turn on the toggles On next to Play start sound and Play end sound On.

I did find this but I don't know if it'll do it..
First make sure that you’re connected to the Wi-Fi network you’ll use for your smart speaker and then launch the Google Home app on your phone. The next step is to tap the “+” icon in the top-left corner, select the “Set up device” option, and then tap on “Set up new devices in your home. All you have to do from there is follow on-screen instructions to get the Google Home set up.
Also make sure Google home is the default app and not Bixby.

I do believe they're talking about the Accessibility on the phone itself though so open the Settings on your phone scroll down to Accessibility and then on the next page you'll see switch access make sure it's on? Mines set to off so maybe yours is too.

May be you guys should try turning off the setting and restart, if that doesnt solve the problem go to recovery mode and clear cache. Let us know if any of that works.
On a side note: I have been facing weird ass issues with this phone just today my phone wont go to mute by using volume key while receiving a call. Like someone calls you and your phone is ringing, you just want to silence the ringtone you can use volume key (Press once), Flip the phone or put your palm over it (If you have the settings on). I tried multiple restarts and switched on and off the settings many times. It was fixed when i restarted my phone to download mode (This happened by mistake i wanted to go to recovery) anyhow that fixed it.

Also try clearing system cache in the boot menu.

If they catch it. Consider which sensors and operation triggers it, cause and effect, to narrow it down.
Playing with Android is fun... Android witch hunts are how you really learn about Android's gooey layer tricks.
Google searches on older Notes and parallel Samsung models can turn up answers many times.
This model is too recent; so not near as much online troubleshooting info. Google searches encompass threads on this forum as well so it can be a good way to find the needle in the Android stack. Do not time limit searches.
On my 10+ with it's baffling bt poor audio I found the answer with something written about the N9.
Many of these issues are long standing.
Samsung finally fixed the bt settings issue in a Wearables update. That took years.
Only persistence is omnipotent...
I figured that out by chance..
It's the edge-compass app
Just delete it from edge apps and it'll go away.. cheers

Well, I've checked all that and nothing, I don't even have the compass edge panel. But I think I'm able to replicate the issue, it mostly happens when my phone is face down on a surface and I pick it up and turn it to me, I don't have a case on it yet and I'm starting to think that it might have something to do with the edge screen but so far no luck

It does suck some battery life though. It's one of the features I disable on my 10+ mostly because I find it annoying.
It's cool though how much you can customize notification behavior; one of the biggest reasons to go with Samsung is customization.
I play around with Settings a lot.. never crashed a load doing it. It's just occasionally gets time consuming to sort it out.

Question How to get rid of this notification?

It is a permanent one from lsposed and just appeared after an update. Wasn't there before. Cannot be disabled for more than a few days.

i am on 1.8.6 (6721). how do i get the beta? and yes, disabling the notification doesnt really work for more than a few hours.
weird thing is...i did not have the issue before updating to the latest version.
First press Verknüpfung erstellen (Create shortcut) in Settings. That creates a new shortcut on your home screen, you can remove the old one after long pressing it.
When the new shortcut appears, you can disable the status notification. That option is currently greyed out.
i got it...it was greyed out because i didnt clicked the button to generate an app icon. i now did that (already had one but whatever). now i can disable it.
thank you very much guys!
