Hi,
I'm wondering if I'll be able to use the Sixaxis Controller app with the One S. Anyone know if this works?
It says it requires root access and even then it depends on the kernel. Is there a stock rom out there that has root?
Mine is supposed to be delivered today.
Thanks,
~Eric
Don't know about One S rooting, but try the compatibility test before buying.
I sent this from my Motorola Atrix on MOTOBLURâ„¢.
I already bought it. Works like a charm on my G2 with CM7
I actually tried this recently. Bumping this older post to see if anyone has any experience with this on the boards, dying for help.
Ok, so step 1, installed compatibility checker, test confirmed compatibility
step 2, installed pair tool on pc and set master address of ps3 controller to local bt address on htc one s
step 3 ran sixaxis app, start, searching for devices...
pres ps button on controller, no worky, lol.
No flashing pair lights or anything. Only flashes all four lights when connected to usb to pc.
running cm10 nightly with stock cm10 kernel
I have a nVidia Shield that I upgraded to 5.0 'Lollipop' and it's not rooted. When I plug in my PS3 controller via USB it works flawlessly - every button works perfectly without using any sort of joystick application (apk). So anyone that wants to use their PS3 controller on the nVidia Shield just plug it in and you're golden.
The issue is when I unplug it I can't get it to work. The tablet won't see the PS3 controller at all until I used the SixaxisPairTool (SixaxisPairToolSetup-0.3.0) to pair it. Now when I turn bluetooth on the tablet sees it, but it's asking for the PAIR PIN which isn't the default 0000 or 1234. Does anyone know how to find the PIN so I can pair it or another way to go about doing this?
I think the tablet has to be rooted in order for the sixaxispairtool to really function correctly. I am also running unrooted. And decided to just get a $20 nyko play pad pro. Can't bring myself to spend $60 on a controller I'm not sure I will use that often.

I've read reports that the Sixaxis Controller APK (root required) program doesn't work on Lollipop. I won't root my tablet nor have I even found a method to root an already updated version (the only method I found to root the nVidia Shield w/Lollipop is to unlock the boot loader before upgrading to Lollipop). As far as I know the SixaxisPairTool by itself simply pairs the controller with the tablet so the tablet can communicate with it - which it does, but requires the PIN to function correctly. Someone must know how to figure out the PIN required.

Sixaxis works fine on lollipop. The screenshots of it in the google play store are lollipop. Yes you need root to use it. I used my pc to pair the controller with the shield then run the app to connect to it wirelessly.
Also you can root lollipop after upgrading but have to unlock to do so.

Well, I read reports that Lollipop breaks the Sixaxis Controller app (unless it's been updated) and the rooting guides on this forum say you have to already have unlocked the boot loader before upgrading to Lollipop to root it. It really doesn't matter because I'm not going to void the warranty, but I really wish I knew how to find the PIN for the sixaxis controller. My searches also find people that would like to know how to find the bluetooth pairing PIN too.

Sorry for being OT, but you can root after the update. But you have to unlock the bootloader if you updated. You misunderstood what you read. You don't have to unlock the bootloader if you rooted and had recovery before updating. And I believe I just read that unlocking the bootloader does not void the warranty (somebody got that answer from Nvidia customer support, and the unlock instructions are on nvidias site).
Just being informative, sadly my USB otg cable is awful and I probably can't get it to connect to my tab.

I'm not interested in rooting the tablet. What I need to know is how to obtain the pairing PIN code for the PS3 controller.

I understand that. I was just clearing up misinformation. Also, have you used the sixaxis pair tool on a pc? It had been some time since I went through the process, but I believe you get the pin on there. Either way, you need to connect it to a pc at least once last I checked.

The only way the tablet will even see the PS3 gamepad (wirelessly) is to use the sixaxis pairing tool and it doesn't give the PIN.
Recently picked up a shield tablet, rooted with king root after doing all updates to lollipop. Used six axis controller and Dual Shock PS3 controller to connect via OTA and USB which works fine but cannot connect via Bluetooth. Both 0000 and 1234 do not really on successful connection. Hoping someone can help with this matter. I'll keep searching the forums. Thanks in advance
Was a solution to this ever found?
Hi, I bought myself a Moto G couple days ago and wanted to use it to play games over moonlight. Unfortunately not a single one of the 3 gamepads I tested works (2 out them do work with my android 4.2 tablet). The OTG itself is working since I can use mouse and the leds blink when I connect DualShock 3. I'm using stock (rooted) lollipop so my guess is that the guys at lenovo are a bunch of pricks and they removed the drivers from kernel. I'm not really too much into smartphones or linux in general anymore so could somebody help me with installing the drivers? If I'm not mistaken I have to install hid-sony.ko module but I don't know how to get it (do I have to somehow compile it myself from sources?) and how to actually install it. I would rather not install another rom if there is some easy way of adding the support to my current one.
Inb4 use bluetooth - moonlight has a known bug making it work really bad when bluetooth is turned on so unfortunately I can't
I have just put LineageOS (both 13 and 14) on the tablet and realized that both doesn't support the Shield Controller. Bluetooth was kinda flaky too so I couldnt connect a PS4 controller either. I am talking about the original Shield and Controller. Not the updated Battery tablet. But anyway I would still like to play my games with the tablet and a controller So I have looked for a 5.1.1 Rom with the hopes of Controller Support, but I have been unable to find any Lollipop Roms that the links are still valid to mess around with. So that is my question. What it the best ROM that will allow controller support (if any) of some kind and still protect me from the Tablet being deactivated.
Thanks for any help
Just a follow up to the original question. I couldn't connect the PS4 controller to the tablet by bluetooth. It showed up originally when I first turned on bluetooth but I could never connect. Now Bluetooth is going crazy and not finding anything. So I figured there were some Bluetooth bugs that still had to be worked out.
I've got a problem with my Honor. When Steam enabled BLE on the Steam Controller, it worked about a week with my phone. Since then, when I try to connect it, it isn't shown any more as mouse-input.
Running B405 on my FRD-L09 without root.
AFAIK, stock EMUI doesn't support mouse and keyboard input. Because the Steam Controller runs in lizard mode by default, it will only pair but phone won't connect to it. I tried connecting the controller with Xperia Z Tablet and it worked absolutely fine. You could try another ROM and see if it works out, but I don't think it will work with stock one.
I see your point, yet it seems confusing to me that, after i updated the Controller for the first time, it worked fine without any troubles. But neithertheless, thank you for your answer.
Despite that I won't switch to another rom, as I will run stock as long as it is supported.
When Honor oficially ends support, I will switch.
