Steam Controller - Honor 8 Questions & Answers

I've got a problem with my Honor. When Steam enabled BLE on the Steam Controller, it worked about a week with my phone. Since then, when I try to connect it, it isn't shown any more as mouse-input.
Running B405 on my FRD-L09 without root.

AFAIK, stock EMUI doesn't support mouse and keyboard input. Because the Steam Controller runs in lizard mode by default, it will only pair but phone won't connect to it. I tried connecting the controller with Xperia Z Tablet and it worked absolutely fine. You could try another ROM and see if it works out, but I don't think it will work with stock one.

I see your point, yet it seems confusing to me that, after i updated the Controller for the first time, it worked fine without any troubles. But neithertheless, thank you for your answer.
Despite that I won't switch to another rom, as I will run stock as long as it is supported.
When Honor oficially ends support, I will switch.

Trouble bt pairing to my PS3 Sixaxis controller

Hi everyone. I really tried to do my due diligence on this before I posted. Everything I've read seems to indicate that ICS can pair PS3 controllers natively, with no need for the Sixaxis Android app, and no need for rooting. But I simply have no succeeded in doing so. I was trying with an older controller from the first generation of PS3s, and though that perhaps it was too old, so I went out and dropped $60 on a new official Sony Sixaxis Dual Shock 3, and I'm still have no luck. I have tried plugging the controller in by USB to the dock first, because some people seemed to indicate that that would help the two devices pair better. And while plugged in by USB, it works fine, I can map the buttons in emulators and use them with no problem. But when I unplug the control pad, hit the Sony button in the middle, and let the TF700 search for devices, it never finds my controller. It's found a Wiimote with no problem, but then of course it wants a pin, and that's its own problem. It's even found my Xperia Play on bluetooth, so I know it's not the bluetooth hardware. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? Sixaxis obviously won't work since there's no root method. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

There is in fact a root method (look for debugfs, don't have the link handy), I use sixaxis and have my PS3 controller paired to my Infinity the day I got it.
I was able to use my PS3 Sixaxis controller on my TF101 with ICS (via bluetooth), but not on the TF700 for some reason.... It only seems to work while cabled (with the TF101, after using it for a minute as a "wired" controller, it automatically paired itself via bluetooth - after the first minute, you didn't need the cable anymore... Not sure why it doesn't work on the TF700. Strange...

It seems like (for whatever reason) Asus did not include the drivers for Ps3 controller in TF700. On my Prime and OG TF, it would automatically pair after using it once over USB. Not a big issues though as I had already purchased Sixxas app.
SixAxis app works great to connect the PS3 controller to the device, but it does *not* satisfy all requirements that the built-in drivers that other tablets and CM9 does. For example, I am an OnLive subscriber and the PS3 controller does not work whatsoever with SixAxis. However, I can plug it in via USB, or use a Xbox360 controller and they work great. This isn't a HUGE issue at the moment, but I did have dreams of having multiple Ps3 controllers and plugging the 700 in to my 60" on occasion. I have also found that when using the PS3 controller even with SixAxis' gamepad emulation, it often doesn't allow the right analog stick to function. At the moment, this is working much worse than on my TF101 w/ CM9 on it.

I wish I could run OnLive here in my country, because as far as I can tell, the app should behave exactly the same with OnLive when the 'Preferences->Gamepad Settings->Enable Gamepad' option is enabled. Evidently there are some differences that are causing issues. I'm not sure what problem you're having with the right analog stick, but you should ensure that you don't have any touch profiles enabled when in native gamepad mode, as they will override the gamepad inputs.
Can we expect Asus to resolve this (Bluetooth built-in connection) along with JB?

Don't get your hopes up.
About the only "viable" way I could see ASUS doing this would be if they made and marketed their OWN controller that could also be used with teh PS3 systems. But that would be still a limited market and would not be financially viable for them.
Well I thought I let you guys know pairing PS3 via the dock is working Idk if it's jellybean or clean room 2.3 feature but I have out working so far, check it out

Works also with stock JB.
Confirmed JB works
Just confirming that the JB update includes the drivers to use the SIXAXIS controller. I just got my TF700 and it wouldn't even detect the controller in ICS in the bluetooth menu, but it did respond when it was plugged in via USB.
Just updated to JB and plugged in the controller. As soon as I turned it on it added the controller to the paired devices list in the bluetooth menu and now it works flawlessly!
Cheers

Please help! I can't connect my phone to Moga controller!

So I just bought a Moga Pro Power controller, and I tried to connect to it, using the official Moga Pivot app.
First I thougt that the app is buggy, cause it stopped while connecting. And when the controller was paired, I couldn't even open my Moga-using games. But considering that the app works perfectly on every other N5, except mine, I started to think that franco kernel's bluetooth settings are the reason for that.
So I flashed stock kernel, but the problem still occurs...
I can receive and send files, just that damn app stops working everytime (i also tried reinstalling it).
Please help, I dont want to send that controller back, cause its my phone's fault :/

Thanks, but that's exactly what I did
For about 15 times...
The problem occurs when the app uses bluetooth. It freezes/gives me error messages.
I guess I have to flash stock firmware to get rid of this problem, cause I already tried everything that came to my mind

[Q] Stuck in a loop with shield.

So basically when I bought my shield it worked perfectly out of the box, here is the specs...
3570k i5
780ti
Pce ASUS ac68
Asus ac68u router
As I said it worked flawlessly, no latency issues etc. Then round about the same time the KitKat update rolled out, and GeForce experience 2.1 dropped. This immediately ruined streaming. Would say PC was offline and Gfe wouldn't allow new connections to it. Shield couldn't find the PC on the network when looking for a new streaming connection. I'm told too that the KitKat update broke a lot of the emulators (essentially bricking the shield to be honest).
I ripped out all the Nvidia software and downgraded to 2.0 GeForce experience which is bundled with an older version of the GPU drivers. Also unlocked, rooted and flashed the shield back to factory android version. This meant I could stream again without issue, great!!!
Now I've bought a shield wireless controller to play games on the sofa in console mode. Problem now is that you need the shield wireless controller app on the shield to connect, this only comes with the latest android update, which only works with gfe 2.1 which subsequently breaks the streaming. So either I have a working shield running old software that I cant connect the controller to, or I have everything up to date and a controller connected but lose the ability to play games. How very very stupid.
What do I do to get the best of both worlds? The wireless controller app isn't available on play store or anywhere else. Can anyone get the standalone apk?! Need help.
Thanks!!

I'm waiting for my Shield Tablet right now. When i place the prder at Sept 16, the website says it will be shipped on Oct. 1st,ñ nevertheless i got a messages on Sept. 18 saying that my tablet was shipped and i got tracking numbers. In the meantime i'm reading everything i can to be docummented, one of the things i read about was problems with KitKat and the tablet. Some people says that factory reseting the tablet makewe it work. So my advicve is, update your shield and them hard reset it. And try again.

Using ipega game controllers with XZP

Hi all,
I have an ipega game controller (can't remember the model number) that used to work with my Nexus 6P. It's got issues connecting to my XZP though. It connects and works for a while but after that, there're no more inputs from the controller. The controller is still connected (via bluetooth) and shows up as an input device in the emulator (SNES9x Ex+) but it doesn't seem to be registering input. I've tried connecting my XBOX One controller to the XZP as well but it doesn't work. Is there something wrong with my set or is this Sony's doing?
EDIT: Turns out that after updating the phone with the July update, the controller works now. That's really weird but I assume something messed up with the previous one. This seems to be the only change I noticed with the phone that made it work. No matter how many times I restarted or paired/unpaired it wouldn't work.
My Xbox One v2 controller works fine via bluetooth and I use an app called Tincore Keymapper so I can use it in games.
Had a hard time finding an actually working app but Tincore Keymapper does the job amazingly.
Unless I totally misunderstood your post.

Ah. Mine doesn't connect through bluetooth. I have a USB C to Female A and I plugged it in through the cable. It used to work on my Nexus 6P. I'm wondering if it's because of the lack of drivers...
I'll go check out Tincore Keymapper though! Maybe that will help thank you!

Most Stable Rom with Controller Support

I have just put LineageOS (both 13 and 14) on the tablet and realized that both doesn't support the Shield Controller. Bluetooth was kinda flaky too so I couldnt connect a PS4 controller either. I am talking about the original Shield and Controller. Not the updated Battery tablet. But anyway I would still like to play my games with the tablet and a controller So I have looked for a 5.1.1 Rom with the hopes of Controller Support, but I have been unable to find any Lollipop Roms that the links are still valid to mess around with. So that is my question. What it the best ROM that will allow controller support (if any) of some kind and still protect me from the Tablet being deactivated.
Thanks for any help
Just a follow up to the original question. I couldn't connect the PS4 controller to the tablet by bluetooth. It showed up originally when I first turned on bluetooth but I could never connect. Now Bluetooth is going crazy and not finding anything. So I figured there were some Bluetooth bugs that still had to be worked out.
