Hi, I'm a new member to this forum! I've been looking for OPO's styleswap cover forever but it's near impossible to find it now in 2020. So, I looked around oneplus's forums and found the .stl file for the phone with the correct dimension. Maybe I can 3D print it?
I've never learn how to edit a mesh, or anything related to 3D modeling and was playing around with Fusion 360 (Apparently Undergrads can get a educational version so I used that) to edit the mesh so that only the back cover and the important hinges are intact. I've done the editing last year and posted onto the OnePlus subreddit, but the post was buried...
Attached is my Google Drive folder to the original .stl file that was used for some peripheral contest for the OPO (https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/oneplus-x-ultimaker-creative-contest.270990/) and the one that I've edited. I can't seem to fix the bottom left hand corner hinge as it was model in a way that Fusion will delete that face too...
I hope someone can help me check if this cover is acceptable, give me some advice on how to fix it and maybe help me improve on a bit?

HI,
The otherday i was cleaning and changing the case of my Magician.
I made a wrong move and pulled out the camera, lucky the camera was connected by what it looks like a socket.
So yea, im just wondering, would it be possible to buy another camera module, coz the camera is just plain crap.
im just looking at ways of improving my magician lol.
whitemoo.
if its a standard conection id say yes i did a cam change on an old nec e808y it worked so i cant see why not id head off to maplin and pick up a cam let me know how you get on or if you get stuck
Actually the Magician's camera is a bit... weird. It hangs off by a thin parallel connection instead of being soldered to the board, which I don't think many other cameras do. I dunno, I've given up all hope on that terrible camera
ive just about given up hope to, im only wondering cause my real digicamera is in repair, and im itching to take photo's.
I was looking at aftermarket parts for camera phones, and saw camera modules which looked like they had similar connections, so there might be hope.
When i do get my real digicamera back from repair ill take some high res shots of the connector, and aftermarket case's for reference on this forum.
Whitemoo.
yer get some shots of where it connects to the phone as well
Can anyone give me a detailed description of how to change the case of O2 mini. I have tried to open the case many times but failed. iam afraid i might void the warranty.
Hi maharishi_b,
ill be giving my detailed photo's of the inside of the xda mini soon, and photo's of aftermarket cases i bought off ebay, compared to the original. This will all come soon.
you will need a plastic case opener similar to what they use to open the ipod's, and a torx screwdriver.
Theres a post with pictures on how to open it, but i cant seem to find it.
Whitemoo.
Torx size 6 to be precise. Stupid seller who sold me my casing shipped me a size 5, and I almost made the bottom two screws round before I realised.
Also I dont use the plastic case opener - I find a thin metal thing to be more effective, though I dont know what its called - it holds the binding thing... nevermind.
So here's the deal... I'm really sick of taking my headphone adaptor with me everywhere, and I really love my modded iPhone headphones (I removed the standard earbuds and soldered my very nice Sony earbuds to them).
What I want to do (or should I say, what I'm going to do?) is open up my touch pro and find a nice spot to throw in a 3.5 mm headset port. Unfortunately I can't start today (I left my small screwdriver set at school) and I am wondering if there are any internal shots of the device.
Also, should I make a step by step guide on how to do this so others can attempt?
That would be pretty nuts. Where will you put it? Ideal would be right on top next to the speaker. Post pictures.
the place would be near the charing port....
I believe there are shots of the insides of a touch pro in the maintenence documents. I don't remember what their called specifically, but I know I saw them listed on either engadget or fuze mobility at one point in time. I have a copy actually, I just don't know where at on my comp :?
So here's the good news:
I've successfully found the documents on dissassembly of the Touch Pro and Disassembled the device.
I've also found a prime location for the headphone adaptor location, in the top right corner of the back side there is a nice spot, which with some small modifications should be able to seat the needed adaptor.
I know what to wire to which ports thanks to THIS thread.
This hack should work for the TV out reg hack if I assume correctly.
And here's the bad news:
My headphone bottom adaptor has had a wire break on the left headphone, but it should be an easy / cheap fix.
The locations where I need to solder are very small!
I'm not quite sure which ports on the inside are the corresponding ports on the other side, but I could probably figure that out with a volt-o-meter and some time.
So now it's a matter of me finding the bravery and time to do this
Good luck dude...
Yeh good luck. We look forward to seeing what happens next.
I'd love to see this, but probably wouldn't attempt it myself. Good luck though!
Oh, beautiful!
Let us stay up to date, mate.
Status report?
So today I went and looked at some better soldering tools and solder itself, it should work pretty well with my strategy to attempt this maneuver
Within 1-2 weeks this should be do-able!
That's good.
Maybe you could consider makeing photos while opening the phone? Especially of what exactly you are soldering?
That would be really nice, I'm really interested in this project.
If you can make this and it will work and if it won't destroy the beautiful design of the Touch Pro you would be a genious
It would be very nice too if you could make a step-by-step guide....
EDIT: Good Luck ;-)
Doing this today
I am about to do this very thing today and ran across this thread while trying to find the pinout schematics on the usb/charge port. I will try to take and post some pics of it as i go through the process.
If you are looking at the bottom of the phone, with the face turned up, there is room for the audio port just to the left of the usb jack, i plan to drill the hole right where the little usb symbol is at on mine. (vzw 6850).
Love this phone, the only irritation i have is the lack of an onboard audio port. I use mine as a net radio in the truck quite commonly, and I feel that the added weight of the dongle being on that USB port all the time will eventually damage the port,
More to come....
I got this project done. Got a decent pic set of the first part of it. I tried to BBcode the images in and got -

MAAAAN!!! You beat me too it! I guess that's what I get for being too busy
I'm really looking forward to seeing how you did it vs. How I'm doing it though!
edit: I almost forgot to say congratulations bro! I'm proud of you!
First of all: GREAT JOB!!
Can you make an attachement?
If not I will send you my e-mail-address and you can send me the pic
I will attach it then
uuuh yeaht, show it to us!
you could upload the pics also on hotfile or sth. like this.
@benpace:
I don't wanna hurry you but when do you upload some pics of your "construction"?
First man to upload images, details on this will be the one to take the credit.
Come on boys, finish what you started.
I am trying to take apart my htc pure. I cannot get the part down by the stylis to release. there is a small body part still in place after removing the battery cover and the torx screws. has anyone taken one of these apart willing to give me a hint?
thanks in advance for any clues
got it apart. turns out there is a little plate just under the front nav buttons (will post pics later if possible) that needed pried off to reveal 2 other screws. I got the speaker to work, kind of. it has a lot of crackle to it. now I have a few questions I am not sure on.
how can I tell if the unit has previously been modded, should I search the rom revision on the forum?
if it has been modded, possibly just a bad radio file has been loaded, I kinda doubt that but could that be possible?
lastly, does anyone have any idea where to purchase a replacement ear speaker? I have searched high and low. only found one new they wanted $85.00 for just the speaker. Gee, little high.
I have seen dead units on ebay for $40.00, thinking that may be my only option now.
I am trying to replace the LCD screen on a 4G slide and I see there are two versions, a Sony and a Hitachi. The problem is that the part number on the broken screen doesn't match the part number of the Sony or Hitachi. I'm not sure what to do. I've Googled the part number on the broken screen and don't get any results. Has anyone seen LCD's other than the normal Sony and Hitachi? Maybe someone has a resource that would know which manufacturer this part number belongs to? The part number is: 83H00434-00. The serial number starts with: 2A4A. An y help or advice is greatly appreaciated.
Thanks,
Ed

In my post I pasted the kernel source that references the screen - maybe Sharp made a screen?
There was also this one:

Pretty sure those are the only threads we have on lcd stuff, excepting that awesome guide on how to replace it that was posted.
Anything recent, though, definitely could have slipped my notice.

MAN.....is it ever great to have you back Blue!!
Thanks for the info. I did look through both of those posts previously. I do see the Sharp referenced in the kernel code you posted, but I can't find any reference to there being one available for the 4G slide. Maybe I'll try and order the Sony first and see if it works. Maybe I'm looking at the wrong part number...I'm getting it from the silver backing that holds the screen. I'm pretty sure that's the right place. There isn't a part number anywhere on the screen itself, back of screen or ribbon cables that I could see. I guess I can match it up by appearance since the Sony version has that extra line on it and then go from there. I'd hate to waste money and order one that isn't going to work though. I have attached images of the screen and the silver backing in case anyone can see something I'm not.
This phone is an absolute nightmare to take apart without damaging the screen and now I have an LCD screen that doesn't match either of the available replacements. I've taken apart and replaced digitizers and screens (and other parts) on hundreds of phones and this one takes the cake. That sticky tape they use to hold the screen to the backing is insane. Luckily the LCD was already broken, because even with a heat gun and hair dryer I couldn't get the screen out without damaging it more. I definitely won't take on one of these again.
Sorry for the rant. I do appreciate the help and info and if anyone else might have any ideas of why I have a different LCD part number and what replacement I should get, I'm all ears.
Thanks,
Ed

+1 to that!
Yea, the Sharp thing is just theory, never heard about it but that's what was in kernel source so... Dunno, could be referencing something else entirely.
Also, Dillalade took pics when he tore the phone down in this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23115759
So, maybe you can see something that might help ya there, outside chance.
Never took one apart or got inside, so, limited help but if I can think of anything I'll toss it here.

i also have the same lcd and i cant find anything with the same p/n or even s/n im just wondering if i could use any other screen.
if you want to know my experience with replacing the screen, read the final post HERE
i wouldnt suggest getting a sony if you have a hitachi, or vise versa
My sister just broke her moto x pure.
The display works, however the digitizer do not works correctly. Cannot post pictures because the wallpaper is containing private information and i cannot change it.
She cannot use the entire screen.
For example on the lockscreen, she cannot use the 8. And the other digits works very badly. So she cannot unlock her phone.
What should I replace (screen, digitizer...) and where should I find the replacement part ?
Thank for your help
You'll need to replace both the digitizer + display as they come together. If you are good at repairing phones, you can get the display from eBay or else send your phone to service center if you don't. I would suggest you to send it to the service center.
You could use a USB OTG cable to connect a mouse and thus regain control of the device in order to clear any sensitive information prior to having someone fix it. I have bought and fixed several Moto X pure edition phones with cracked screens for family members. Most of them did alright, but one phone had the screen replaced, then a cow stepped on it. Although it didn't crack, after a while parts of the screen stopped responding to touch. The screen I replaced it with has not been damaged at all, but parts of it have stopped responding to touch as well. Sometimes I wonder if these phones don't have a particularly weak and easily damaged screen. I sometimes get my replacement screens from GadgetFix. If you fix it yourself make absolutely sure that you get a screen+frame assembly. It's just a few dollars more, and totally worth it. And be careful when you transfer the speaker grill trim to the new screen that you don't press hard enough to crack the screen.
Thanks you, I think I will change the screen and the frame.

Is this what I should buy ?
The screen that you posted does not include the frame. I briefly looked on eBay; you might find one with the frame included for a few dollars less than gadget fix, but for simplicity I just linked this one. On the back side of the display you will notice the screw inserts. That is what you need to look for.

Could you point me to a tutorial or a video explaining how to change the screen
I believe that Ifixit has a whole teardown tutorial for this phone. If not just search YouTube for (phone model) screen replacement, watch it a time or two, and then pause it while you do each individual step. If the first video you watch doesn't explain things in an understandable manner just watch another one. It's been a while since I searched for one, but I think there are at least a few good ones.
