Hello guys! I have EML-L29.
I have strange problem with one of the mics - the one which is closer to the earpiece, top of the phone. So the problem is that the mic is very quiet - i think its responsible for when you change to loudspeaker, when you have phone call or viber, whatsup etc call, video call on loudspeaker. So i have to speak very close and quite loudly so that the person can hear me.
The strange thing is that it works normally when i say OK Google and Hey google. If I say this things, no matter how loud, i can tell them very quetly and the mic still pick up the voice, then i can ask Assistant what i want and again the mic picks everything how it should. But when i try manully to voice search, or manully to ask Assistant something, againt the mic brokes and can't pick up my voice normally, i have to be very close to it and speak very loudly.
I had this problem with EMUI9, updated to EMUI10, stil got it, fully factory reseted it, still no change.
For what i searched on the net i saw that the top mic is part of the motherboard, so its pretty much no point of changing it.. the bottom mic is on its own board, so its easy job.
Still i dont know if its hardware or software issue. Its very strange, normally it dont work, but when voice call the Google Assistant it starts working as it should.
I will be very grateful if someone knows anything about this or some tips on how i can deal with it
Thank you!

Hi guys.
I have an in-call problem with my Desire S.
This does not happen when I get called, just when I initiate a call.
When I call someone, the other part of the conversation will always hear a great noise or interference coming from my phone's microphone to the point that my voice is not understandable anymore.
I noticed though, that if I switch to speaker and back to earpiece the problem gets solved for that particular conversation.
Do you guys know of any permanent fix for this?
thanks.
Hey... nice to see a felow ro. on this forum.
Try a factory reset...it sounds to me like a software problem.
If that doesn't do it.....waranty should cover it.
Ok. So I hard reset and after spending a whole lot of time which I did not have reconfiguring the phone, I got the same problem.
And I figured out that the culprit is the Keep Service option in PowerAmp. Unchecked that and no more problems... and no warranty call... phew!
I have a Galaxy S5 Active and have recently started having a problem. Occasionally when I dial a number, no sound will be output even though the phone is making the call, and the timer at the top corner counts as if the call is working. I'd say it does this about 1 out of 5 calls, I have to hang up and call back and it will work fine. I am not positive, but I think this may have started with the recent 4.4.4 update. I really dont want to restore my phone if not necessary.. anybody heard of this issue?

Maybe it's the front ear speaker issue or network connectivity problem.
Next time you get this problem, see if the loudspeaker option helps to find if the front ear speaker is damaged

I have tried this and there is still no sound even in loud speaker mode. I have also verified that other caller cannot hear me also
I think this issue is with Google play services... Try to search on xda or Google about it. I had read somewhere about it
Tried clearing cache of google play services like suggested in another thread.. but it didnt help
I should also mention that the problem only occurs when I am the one making the call, never when I receive a call

If you have root then try to disable google play services and other Google apps. And check if problem occurs in 2-3 days.
Hi, everyone. I have Lenovo K900 Android version: 4.2.1. Recently I changed the battery since then my mic hasn't been working during phone calls, both regular calls and on WhatsApp. Although it works perfectly when shooting a video, making an audio recording, voice searching etc., only during calls. It's not completely broken if I shout right into the mic the receiver can hear me
very badly (as if I was talking underwater or from very far). Other things to point out:
1) I can hear people well, so there is no problem with my speakers.
2) Using speaker (in order to enhance the mic) during a call doesn't help at all.
3) It has a very problematic back cover, so it took a lot of physical effort to open it, so my suspicion is that mic could have been damaged, though it seems unlikely since it works very well outside the calls.
4) Using a headset mic during phone calls works perfectly.
5) I don't have a warranty.
Some things I've tried so far to fix the problem:
1) Hard reset the system (twice), both normal reset and hard reset (thus deleting all the apps, so I'm doubtful, it could be a software problem)
2) Turned off "Background Voice Cancellation" and put mic quality to "bright".
3) Turned off "Ok google" voice option.
4) Made sure that it wasn't my fingers covering the mic causing the problem
5) Rebooting the system multiple times.
6) Using headset during the call, ending the call with headset on and only then taking it off in hopes to reset built-in mic settings.
7) Downloading "Sound About" app.
None of these options helped, even slightly.
I really believe that it's fixable since the mic works everywhere apart from calls, and even there it works, just unbearably quiet. I have one last idea left, which is to change the Android version completely, maybe upgrade it. Please, if you have any ideas, respond, this bug is driving me crazy. Thanks, everyone, in advance for your help!

I don't have this device but, your best bet is to post this question within the following thread that's specific to your device.

Hello!
I have a major issue during videocalls using google duo, skype where if there are any background noise around me, i can't hear the person i am talking to. The audio cuts off. It has to be silent around me in order for me to hear the person i am talking to. Is there any fix to this problem? I have already reset the phone but the problem is still there.
mic (over) sensitivity? perhaps some will stop by and know the file and file entry to edit.
any of this type setting elsewhere (Settings, the app itself, and sound modification yo have installed, eg Viper, etc... that you can check/get to?
I have no sound modification installed. I checked the settings but there seems to be no part adressing this issue. The same problem happens when i use different apps like skype, google duo and signal. Could it be a hardware problem? The microphone works fine when i record a video or recording audio.
Maybe.
Rooted? If so, and you've done a full, clean install, and sure that the install is working ok, maybe try another custom ROM.
Normal calls work, as I get you it's (just) video calls? Another possibility, I'd consider looking up mic sensitivity and ways to decrease it. On the OnePlus One I am aware there was a configuration file folks could mess with to try and resolve that phone's mics over sampling. That was a common issue for many.
Have you tried turning the volume down and see if that has any effect?
Wish I could offer more ideas, I have used video calls maybe 3 times in 8 years.
The phone is not rooted. This problem occurs only when i use internet based videocalls (skype, google duo). The volyme is not usually high when i call. Thank you for your time, hopefully i will find a solution soon.
Frustrating. Good luck.
Something is strangw with my OP6.
If I try to use Google Voice search the app doesn't "hear" my voice.
But also when Im having a call I need to be in a silient place in order for the people who speak with me are going to hear me well, If Im walking outside near a road with cars or sitting with people around me who speak the phone's microphone seems to take in all those sounds so it is very hard for the person who speak with me to "just hear me". It seems to be very sensitive to other sounds around me.
Almost like the phone is using the mirchone for the speaker calls.
I have reset the phone(stock firmware), but the problem remains.
Anyone knows what it might be?
Sounds like the noise cancellation mic (top of the phone) is not working. Could be a hw, sw or just dirt in the mic issue.
