Hello,
My mother just got a Sony Xperia M2, and I wanted to root it for her... Well, I have a Samsung Galaxy S4, and it's way easier to do it !
I followed the tutorial from this website : Developer . sonymobile . com
I downloaded everything (I'm on Windows 8, I also got the extra stuffs to DL), and it was pretty fine until the "connect your device" part !
In the tuto, you should Turn off the phone, connect the USB wire to the computer, and then press Volume UP while you connect the phone in USB...
After that you need to select the drivers from Flashmode, I select the right folder, but it's not working ! It says that I don't have "Android ADB Interface" or thing like that. So, I can't update the drivers, and can't complete the unlocking !
From the official video (that I can't link or past) they gave on the website, my problem starts at 4:20
Do you have an idea please ??
Thanks !
First of all, before trying to flash anything it is better to check if the phone connects fine while running normally. Download PC Companion if you don't have it already (it's a nice app anyway, you may need it), run it, connect the phone via USB and see if it gets recognized. Then you will need to enable the USB Debugging for ADB access:
http://www.phonearena.com/news/How-to-enable-USB-debugging-on-Android_id53909
After that check with Flashtool if it gets recognized with the phone on. Then I'm not sure anymore, but don't you need to hold the volume key(s) BEFORE connecting the phone to the USB to enter flash modes?

Use flashtool from this link :http://www.flashtool.net/index.php
After installing it, install Drivers from <Installed Dir>/flashtool/drivers folder.
If you don't know, select all platforms.
May be you need to disable "driver signature check" for win 8.
Tutorial here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2095087
Try with flashtool, it should work now.

Thank you, the only solution was this thing ! "Disable driver check" was it !
And in order to be clear (maybe for people who will need help too), I deleted/disabled the drivers of the Xperia M2 from the computer. So it was like I plugged the phone for the FIRST time again. The computer wants to install drivers, just Cancel, and right-clic -> Install (or update) drivers, and you're done ! !
MY BOOTLOADER IS FINALLY UNLOCKED ! Thank you really !
Greetings to all!!
My computer could not detect my p8lite correctly.
My firmware version is c423b188 ale-L21. I bricked it and got stuck on bootloop. Serial number displayed everytime i type fastboot devices but nothing when i type adb devices.
I think i need to download compatible drivers specifically customized for huawei p8lite. If so,where can i download it from?
Thanks!!!
P.S.
Sorry if may have overlooked a thread somewhere that could enlighten me to help solve my problem.
Installed JDK,SDK,usb drivers from google folder in SDK but my computer couldn't correctly detect my p8lite. So i couldn't flash through fastboot command.
I have tried hard reset and flashing through sdcard but didn't work.
I feel like facing a blank wall. Please help..
Thank you again!!
hello
I'm trying to install UK firmware on my Xperia XZ to make finger print scanner working.
but, i have done everything correct, flashtool says driver need to be installed for connected device. could anyone advice me, how to get the drivers installed?
error message-
24/040/2016 09:40:14 - ERROR - Drivers need to be installed for connected device.
24/040/2016 09:40:14 - ERROR - You can find them in the drivers folder of Flashtool.
thanks in advance
I just flashed my device this morning by following a tutorial that I was directed to by another member.
http://www.xperiablog.net/2016/03/12/install-xperia-marshmallow-using-flashtool-and-xperifirm-guide/
Did you run C:\Flashtool\drivers\Flashtool-drivers.exe?
If you are using Windows 8/10, you might need to disable driver signature enforcement before installing the drivers. The tutorial tells you how to do this.
HTH.
I want to do this to mine, but I have a locked bootloader. I have downloaded all the required things. I used the developer site of sony to get a bootload unlock code, when I go to update the driver while in fastboot, it gives me an error that the driver may have been tampered with. This is so frustrating!!! Anyone have any insight?
Just run drivers.exe from the drivers folder in the flashtool directory and choose flashmode and fastboot drivers.
It says then "Impossible to execute DPInst.EXE on current OS". I use windows 7. Does anybody knows what is wrong?

If you run a Microsoft operating system with version number >7 you can check my guide on how to switch on installing unsigned drivers temporarily.
Be super sure that these drivers you intend to install are legit (most are, the manufactures of the devices did not go the extra mile to get them signed properly).
Hi guys I just got my xz premium..and trying to unlock bootloader on this bad boy..problem is when I enter fastboot on my PC, and I entered fastboot mode on the xz premium..and enter " fastboot devices" nothing shows up? I went to device manager on my windows 10 PC..and it shows Android with a expectation mark on it..I tried updating the driver with the official Sony one but driver isn't signed and won't let me..does anybody know how to fix this issue..thanks
You have to disable driver signing enforcement since you're on W10. (And assuming 64bit). You can do this by going to Recovery > Advanced startup > Selecting #7 (usually #7. As long it's the the one that says disable driver enforcement).
When your computer restarts, you should be able to install the driver properly.
@iArvee thank you I'ma try that..I even downloaded Android sdk but I found a video online on how to do it but will try it out
Hello.
I have an unused XZ i want to give new life to with LineageOS.
And that's where the problems start.
For some reason i cannot get fastboot to work with CMD or PowerShell no matter what I do. ADB works sometimes and other times it doesn't. I can't even unlock my bootloader.
Tried to use Sony Mobile Flasher but that doesn't work as well since every time I try to connect in fastboot mode it gives me :
"
30/034/2021 23:34:09 - ERROR - Drivers need to be installed for connected device.
30/034/2021 23:34:09 - ERROR - You can find them in the drivers folder of Flashtool.
"
When the drivers are 100% installed.
I'm left with no idea what to do so I'm finally sucking up my pride and asking, please help.
