SM-N976V Verizon model on t-mobile - Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Questions & Answers

I have a verizon note 10 + 5g model. It is unlocked and data in 4g is working fine. The issue I'm having with is calling. It just hangs often and doesn't go through and other times it takes a 30 second to a minutes before going though. I try calling my voicemail and nothing. Is there settings I have to cha ge to use with TMobile?

Voice calls not working after reactivating device

Rooted S off Verizon M8 was used with T-Mobile for 4 months. Switched to Verizon again and bought iPhone 6 for my wife. Tried reactivating M8 with old Verizon SIM but only data works, voice calls doesn't work.
Went to Verizon store and replaced SIM and same issue. Was with tier 2 support for close to 2 hours and they couldn't figure out what is happening. They see the phone as turned off but data works.
Phone works well with Lycamobile SIM, so not an issue with phone.
Any suggestions?

Note 5 on Cricket?

I apologize if this is in the wrong forum. I'm trying to help a friend out by doing a little research.
A friend's daughter has a Note 5 on Verizon. (Long story short, friend's ex husband is supposed to pay for daughter's cell phone as part of divorce agreement. He did for a few months and then skipped town. Phone was cut off.) My friend has a phone on Cricket, and was wondering if she could use the Note 5 on Cricket. The local rep tells her that she cannot, that the phones are incompatible with Cricket's network, but I'm wondering if it is just their way of trying to get her to buy a new phone.
It's not a big deal if the Internet part of the phone works (her daughter mostly uses wifi anyway), but the phone part needs to work.
I'm using a Verizon note 5 on cricket. You get 4g lte but I'm having issues with mms. Sometimes mms will work and other times it won't
Did you just put the Cricket SIM in and go, or was there anything else involved?
I put in the cricket sim card and enter the apn.
Cool. My friend is going to go to Cricket and get the SIM kit and I'll hafta punch in the APN data for her later...

NO LTE icon on the screen
No LTE icon on my Galaxy Note 5 screen using Cricket network. The phone is brand new and factory unlocked but no way to get the LTE power from Cricket.

I had the same issue. I do get 4G LtE in some areas but not all the time
Also, if you see the carrier it says ATT not Cricket...
UPDATE: My understanding is that ATT/Cricket works in a different LTE band than Verizon. So that might be the issue. Not sure if you can change that in a non-rooted phone.
Have anyone found a fix for the mms other than the Playstore text app fixes

Yes call cricket (dial 611) and they will set up the APN for you. I have the Sprint note 5 on cricket and all mms works. Thanks
Do you have to unlock the Sprint Note 5 or just put the sim card in
Anyone successfully get LTE working on cricket? My roommates S5 gets LTE, but I'm only getting H+ this sucks!

More than likely it's probably because Verizon's network is CDMA and Crickets network is GSM and they are incompatible with each other. You can check and see if you can switch the bands but I don't know if it's possible to do that on the Verizon phones since they're locked down so tight..

I actually got it working! This is for anyone that sees this. I entered cricket apn, then I was selecting global, and gsm. I figured those were the 2 that I needed, so I went back and forth between the 2, getting more frustrated! I finally decided screw it, and selected CDMA/LTE and low and behold!!!! The 4GLTE signal popped right up! So it is working, mms too. I'm stoked.
Edit, after further testing, calls will not work while in CDMA mode. Sucks, but I think it was too good to be true. So here's what I came up with.....toggle CDMA/LTE mode, wait for 4GLTE to pop up, once it comes on, toggle back to global mode. 4GLTE will stay enabled, until a call comes in. After your call, H+ will pop in, just toggle the CDMA/LTE, and back to global. This is the only way I've found to have constant LTE.
It seems that to enable the LTE bands, they must be enabled by toggling the CDMA on. Weird but it is what it is, especially with not having root.

Unlocked on T-Mobile

Hi!
Hey any functionality lost by using the unlocked version on T-Mobile ?
Thanks
When speaking to Samsung about this, they told me all T-Mobile bands are supported including 5G on the unlocked versions. What you may lose is video calling (who cares) and possibly wifi calling. But in the past I've seen threads were talking to higher-level techs at T-Mobile can enable those features.
I noticed Samsung checkout page didn't ask if you need a SIM for the unlocked phone. In the past it would give you an option. So curious if you will need to go to the store for a SIM.
Thanks . Video calling is big with me . Rats
My Note 9 was unlocked from Samsung but video calling and Wi-Fi calling work fine. Not sure about this phone though.
Won't you just be able to flash the T-Mobile firmware via Odin if you get the unlocked? Then you get the best of both worlds. This is what I did with my Note10+. Got the Unlocked from Samsung then used Odin to get the official T-mobile firmware.

i had an unlocked note 10 + on tmo and had no issues with video calls or wifi calling. i got from the samsung site that the note 20 has an esim which i would guess is why you dont see any wording for a conventional sim...

I currently use an unlocked note 10+ on tmo that isn't flashed. The only limitation is that I cannot do tmo-to-tmo video calling. It may simply be a setting on my end but I never looked into it as there are so many options. Everything else works fine and I seem to get every update at the same time.

To fix that issue you can flash TMobile rom onto the unlocked version.

Thanks. I haven't flashed a rom before but there's lots of info available. If I don't upgrade to the Note 20 then I will flash the TMobile rom onto the Note 10+. If I do upgrade I will eventually flash the Note 20.
TMO user with S20 Ultra here. Don't use video calling so I could not say. Wifi calling works.
Third party VVM apps do NOT work and TMO's downloadable visual voice mail app is garbage IMHO.
When I put my VZW sim in the same phone the Samsung VVM app works beautifully.
Unlocked S20 Ultra 512GB here.
"5G" works on TMO where there is coverage however the speed tests show LTE as connection type. Interestingly enough some of the speed tests actually show 5G. Not sure what's going on with that. Have reached over 200Mbps down on TMO "5G" a few times. Most of the time it's the same speed as LTE. Don't care, it works, hot spot works nice too.
If you were to (properly) flash TMO firmware (in theory) it SHOULD make your phone just like a TMO bought phone including the cheesy jingle when booting up. Never tried it, I like the slim as possible approach. Plus the ability to drop in a VZW sim and it just works IS a MUST for me.

tmobile visual voicemail has always worked for me on my samsung purchased unlocked 10+, so i guess our expectations are different.
Can't wait to see if I run into any issues with my unlocked on Sprint/Tmo

Only if you use TMO's downloaded app which is utter $4!+ IMHO.
I hate it so much I just dial in to listen the old fashioned way. I screen calls anyhow so the ONLY time it rings I know who is calling so not really a big deal. If callers don't have the secret PIN they get hung up on! F robos!
What about roaming on T Mobile partner network? Will I get a network on my UNLOCKED Galaxy Note 20 Ultra if I am roaming on US Cellular or any TMobile partner Network?
Will my Unlocked Galaxy Note 20 Ultra support all 5G bands from TMobile? (Low, Mid and High ) Layer Cake so to say.
What about SA 5G (Stand Alone 5G) that TMobile just launched. Will the Unlocked Galaxy Note 20 Ultra support it?
Sprint frequencies
I'm mostly concerned about the Sprint frequencies T-Mobile is picking up.

Unlocked on T-Mobile Require Flashing?

I have the unlocked phone on T-Mobile... Haven't done anything but insert the SIM. Is there anything I have to do for this phone to be fully effective on T-Mobile?

I took the SIM from Note 10+ put it in the Note 20 Ultra, it prompted for a network update and was good to go. Picked up 5G immediately.

Yeah same here... Hopefully that's enough! I saw people talking about flashing a csc file but I don't remember what the point is or if it's necessary.
I believe some were talking about flashing the (U) CSC on unlocked to get wifi calling.

Only put my sim in and I have wifi calling. Won't flash unless i encounter any problems.
I have Note 20 Ultra Unlocked on Tmobile, Wifi Calling and 5G is working. Video Calling uses Google Duo and i am not getting read receipt of messages(text or MMS) in Samsung Messages App. these are the only things i have noticed so far.
I'm still a sprint customer coming from the note 10 plus. When I insert the sim card into my unlocked note 20 ultra from my sprint note 10 plus, will I be able to access 5G and have everything work properly ?

Is WiFi calling available?

I was just comparing some settings between my Fold and an S10 and S20 and noticed WiFi calling in the phone app is missing in the phone settings. I also couldn't see a quick toggle in the shade either. Is WiFi calling not supported on the Z Fold 2?
All 3 phones are unlocked and bought straight from the Samsung store, so there's no weird carrier stuff going on.
I'm unlocked on Verizon and it's second in menu under connections. Also try type wifi calling in search top settings
unlocked using tmo and wifi calling is there, just like on my unlocked ultra 20 5g.
I just noticed I don't have it either, unlocked on ATT. Did some research and realized ATT blocks WiFi calling for most unlocked phones looking to flash the ATT firmware now.
Search for wifi calling..im unlock on vzw
