I'm about to upgrade and the Note 10 Lite fits the bill but I totally rely on wifi calling at home as the signal is terrible. I'm looking to go with EE (in the UK) but get a handset from a seperate vendor like Fonehouse (or similar) as they're a lot cheaper for the same phone and on the EE network. EE do offer WiFi calling as standard to all devices bought directly from them (but which is expensive) but Fonehouse cannot tell me if a phone bought from them placed onto the EE network will be able to access WiFi calling.
Anybody have any knowledge or experience of this?
it does indeed, I am with 3 (three UK) and it works flawless,

I have an x7510 and have used it successfully with a Telcel (Mexico) 3g sim card down there, though since Mexico isn't in the Connections country presets, I had to use web-provided parameters. I suspected that I wasn't on quite the same network as when I put the Telcel sim into the purchased ZTE626 usb 3g aircard and everything was automatic, and a dealer tech guy there agreed, but who knows. (By the way, if you're vacationing in Mexico and want economical 3g, look up the Internet Amigo plan on the Telcel web site. It's 1, 3, 7, 15 and 30 days blocks of time, not annual subscription. Perfect for tourists. The Customer Service places typically have the old brochures lying around, so print the current pricing off the web before you go. They do all this for USB or Express cards, and for smartphones of all types.)
SO, here I am in the USA again, and for kicks, I took the X7510 into my Tmo dealer and they reassigned me a newer sim (the difference? she said it was 3g capable) and we put it in the X7510 and tried it. I couldn't believe they were willing to try it. And of course, using the Connections automatic setting, I got Edge. However, I couldn't help wondering about some things:
1. Why can't I get downloading on 2100 3g, just downloading? Is it because the upload handshaking etc can't switch to Edge?
2. Is it true that if I had a Tmo 3g phone, such as the 3g Dash, this 'no difference but it's newer and has 3g on it' (which they let me keep, I should add) my data plan (el cheapo grandfathered 20$ for unlimited incl hotspots) would now do Tmo 3g? I actually asked her about this and she indicated the 3g aspect of this or that data plan is not more costly.
3. When looking at the automatically configured Tmo Connections settings, the setting for type of connection had very little available, just CellularGPRS&3G. When I'd been working with the Telcel sim, all sorts of combinations of frequencies popped up. The preset still says wap.voicestream.com. Is there another group of Manual settings I could use to get my half 3g on the X7510?
4. Perhaps the most interesting, since the X7510 has USB host capability, is there a way to use my 4in1 cable, a Tmo USB aircard and my new Tmo 3g sim to make the X7510 recognize and use the USB card? I do like the X7510 for its huge screen...
Thanks to anyone who will help, or who finds the Telcel info useful.
Hello,
Recently I purchased a brand new note 2 from Best Buy Mobile who sells on behalf of Koodo Mobile. It was working just fine until I went on vacation where it's giving me a huge headache. Considering it was locked I contacted a good friend who unlocks phones, he rooted my phone ( Was extremely angry ... ) and told me he unlocked it, because of the friendship I couldn't say much, anyways, after rooting the phone stopped working inside the house. I purchased the phone in Calgary where it worked just fine and I am currently in Karachi ( Pakistan ), When I try to call someone it goes to dialing and just stays at dialing without any further updates, the phone never connects but the wierd thing is that it is getting 5 / 5 singles I am using the Mobilink carrier in PK, I've also tried Zong, Telenor, Ufone, Warid etc. and none of them work, BUT as soon as I step outside the call takes 2 seconds to connect, now I understand you may think it's a signal issue but first it's getting full signals and it tells me I am on the Mobilink service, secondly I have uncles from Saudia, America all who brought their phones and they work just fine. We have iPhone's, Blackberry's, Samsungs & Nokias inside the house all that are working just fine INSIDE & OUTSIDE.
iPhones - iPhone 5s
Blackberrys - Blackberry Torch 9800
Samsungs - Note 2, Note 3, S3, S4.
Nokia's - Nokia 225 etc.
ALL phones expect the note 2 work fine inside and outside, I've tried changing the connection method to GSM only, WCDMA only etc. The only difference I noticed was that GSM connected much faster once I stepped outside than LTE & WCDMA. I am extremely annoyed as this phone is less than a month old and was kept in storage 75% of the time, so it's basically new. I don't want to throw this phone away. My friend tells me the phone needs a hardware booster but I don't want to let him open up my phone after what he did to the software. Any suggestions on fixing this? I'm very worried as this cost me 300 dollars and I haven't even used it for a month. ANY help would be appreciated and I would not mind compensating the user who helps me fix this. Thank you very much!

Hi Folks, I'm new here so hi! Tethering (fully authorized by my carrier) with my US version Nexus 5 worked very well for the first two weeks of use. Recently with strong service its data connection drops when I tether to my PC. While tethering the N5 to my iPad or my wife's iPhone there is never a problem and the connection is never lost. The strange part is it is intermittent, but happens often. Also it will drop the connection with full signal strength and in different parts of the house, so I don't believe this is coverage issue. This also occurs via USB tethering also. Any suggestions how to make this stop, explain what is going on, check for bugs?
I am living in Italy and have service via TIM (Telecom Italia Mobile) with a 20GB plan and 8 GB left on my monthly allowance.
If it helps with suggestions, the device is running completely stock AOSP and am not rooted.
Hi,
I live on a boat and don't have access to regular fixed wifi... In the UK, I can get an unlimited LTE data deal and use the wifi tether router android app to use all of this as for my home wifi needs, while the phone company just thinks I am using data on my phone (not a hotspot)
However, I've just come to the USA for a three month road trip (new York to cali and back) and trying to organise my wifi (to tether our two phones, sat nav, and any work on the laptop I might need to do), and the networks here are nuts.
First of all, unlimited data is pretty expensive (I pay about $25 in the UK a month, here it is like 70$ for a much ****ter deal)
Secondly, all the big networks are telling my that my Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE variant (that I use as my internet router) is too old. (it's only 2013!!!). In England, all the networks have LTE, 3G and 2G bands that any phone can at least connect to something. Why do the networks obsolete phones here? I'm speculating in Europe we probably have legislation to prevent against this and protect the consumer, but in reality I have no idea.
AT&T said their network could use this phone, but the sim isn't even recognising (it's an unlocked international version, so not really sure what's going on here)... So now I'm stuck with the third ****test network for a month when I could have gotten verison or T-Mobile
So... I'm thinking I need to buy a newer phone to use as an internet router
So... Question is...
Is there any phone modern enough to be used on modern USA networks like Verison or T-Mobile AND has RF antenna ports (like the Samsung galaxy S4) so that I can plug it into an antenna when I get home (I don't want to upgrade my phone just for the trip if I can't then use it with an antenna when I get back home?)|
Any other idea's or solutions to my problem?
Should I just jail break my iPhone S6+ and use mifi instead for this trip?
Thanks in advance,
I would use the Galaxy S4 as a hot spot and keep it permanently connected to the antenna.. allowing you to buy any phone you want, just connect to the hotspot when needed.
Here in AUS you can get a secondary simcard which we call a "data sim".. as the name suggests its a simcard connected to the same account that strictly only has access to usage data on the plan, no calls.. we usally use them in tablets. Might be worth looking into if you want to only have the one active plan.
Hi,
I am not sure whether is this Andorid-related, Samsung modem HW related, or even my ISP host related. Well, let me describe and then move on.
I notice when I am abroad, roaming, that when I go into low signal area and ROAMING (foreign operator) signal is lost, then my phone does not recover back ONLINE when I get back to area with excellent signal. In such situations my phone number will be unavailable even for whole day, if I do not notice. Very annoying, because I need to constantly pull out my glasses to see that tiny signal icon, check signal, whether I ma online or not, and if not, reset. Or use workaround instead of reset, to turn airplane mode ON then back OFF to reset signal, and voila, I am accessible again for calls and messaging.
What I tired already:
first, I checked with my wife, she has LG G7 smartphone AND she is subscribed with another ISP, and she does NOT have any similar problems. we are traveling together to those areas without signal and back to civilization.
then I sent my Samsung Galaxy S10 to service, and of course, they did not find any problems
then I changed my SIM card for new one, but no difference
then I got angry and bought new Samsung S21 Ultra...but first trip abroad, roaming + to areas without singal, same issue again, only me, my wife no problems
So... any idea?
Is it Samsung, my ISP operator (like, maybe they have some weird roaming algos?), or Andorid 10 and 11 bug?
S21 ultra is a terrible phone, it does take nice photos though

s21 poor signal strength
I've just upgraded to the s21 from the s10. Problem is that I now only get 1 bar showing on the signal strength most of the time (including home). On the s10 it was on 3 bars most of the time using the same network and SIM. If I swap the SIM card back to the s10 I get 3 bars showing again I...
