can anyone help me identify this phone? - General Questions and Answers

Hi @ all, so a friend of mine purchased this weird Phone which came in a very neutral packaging, no brand written on it just a sticker with the model name : Carbon (64 GB + 4 Gb), the S/N and the IMEI.
The Phone itself looks quite standard, its running Android 9 but it doesnt have a Playstore and on the left hand side of the Phone it has a physical switch in which you can use 3 modes,
1 . Normal mode ( all smartphone functions are enabled),
2. Privacy mode ( Camera and Mic are physically disconnected),
3. full privacy mode ( same as mode 2 but the connectivity is disabled)
the device name is by default Tapion.
Buid number: C0.03.19
I cant access the developer options by pressing build number 7 times, nothing happens
I tried to get it into the bootloader mode and recovery mode with no success.
maybe someone here could help me

Can you post more info from your About phone settings?
Install the most detailed hardware info/identification app that you can find. The Aida64 app would be sufficient.
It should give you all the hardware/software specs for your device in several different categories. Take screenshots of the information shown in the various device info pages/tabs so we can all see the information those screenshots display.

[Q] Device Serial number differences

Hi,
I have noticed the following regarding the serial number of my phone (Huawei G500 pro - rooted - stock ROM)
When I go to System Settings\About phone\status i get the serial number 0123456789ABCDEF
But the sticker under the battery and in the package display a different one which looks like a normal 16 characters serial number.
I can only see the sticker's serial number when boot to factory settings (pressing power button & Vol -) in PCBA test.
In some other forums I read that the serial number can also be found in file /sys/class/android_usb/f_accessory/device/iSerial
In my case this file shows the 0123456789ABCDEF.
Does anybody has an idea what is happening?
Is there a way to have my normal serial number to be appeared?
Thank you
I don't know how to fix this but the same thing happened to me with my optimus v.

At least I ' m not the only one that noticed this. So you 've also checked and through factory menu or you compared with the sticker?
By the way are you rooted?
i have noticed that too on HTC phones and Samsung phones, tablets and tabs. turned to be all these chinese replicas that will bare the same look same software but different performance and lacking some software properties and features. especially in settings and camera. so now before i buy any phone, it has to be opened and i avoid any (0123456789abcdef or 00000000000000) serial numbers.

[Q] How to Enable *#22745927(hidden menu) on GT-I9300 USB Data connection not working

Hello all, I am having a problems with the USB connection of my phone since 2 days. The Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300. It suddenly won't charge (very rarely it does ) and I cannot connect to any computer via USB. You simply don't hear the USB sound, no device is detected. The funny thing though, when I go to download mode, the device is found instantly, and I can also flash the device with Odin, as I have done several times, trying to fix this problem. This suddenly happened two days ago, I didn't change anything, it simply stopped working from the one day to the next.
I have searched and read about this issue, and I found out about epic dialer codes.
this code is working : *#7284# (I had to flash to different firmware to get it to work though), i am now on this firmware:
GT-I9300_PHN_I9300XXALE8_I9300PHNALE4_I9300XXLE8.tar
The problem is, there should be a Qualcomm USB option, but it simply isn't there. I have read that many others have the same problem(no data connection and no charging) and they fixed it trough that setting. I also found that dialer code *#22745927 should enable this function, but this code is simply NOT working!
Also *#0808# doesn't work, I really want to use my USB data connection. I have 5 batteries and also a wall charger, so I am not worried about running out of power, and I am also sure it isn't a battery problem. I have 2 data cables, I can use them both to flash the device in Odin, when I connect the cable when the telephone is Off, I can see the battery for 10 seconds, but then it disappears and will not charge. (very rarely it does)
How can I enable the hidden menu and get to the qualcomm USB settings??? I also tried the app "Secret Codes Revealer" I have flashed Beanstalk, CM 10.2, in every firmware I cannot get the data connection to work. I am now trying different firmwares to get to those *#@! Qualcomm USB settings
Please help

Try this: *#22745927
*#22745927 doesn't work that's the problem I think
Apparently several people are having this issue, I will now try to flash verizon firmware to my vodafone device, to see if I can get that option to work, and afterwards flash it back to CM10.2
OK, I found out the following: the Galaxy s3 for US and Canada is a different model, the SCH-i535, and the qualcomm settings only apply for that phone, It's a little confusing, but the option apparently doesn't exist on GT-I9300 model.
That guide doesn't apply to you; the Qualcomm related stuff is only for the US and Canadian Galaxy S3 models; they have a COMPLETELY different chipset (Snapdragon S4 instead of Exynos Quad). Do not follow that guide.
*#0808# doesn't work... unable to get USB Settings Menu.
I faced the exact same problem. On my S3 GT-I9300, *#0808# was not working and I was unable to get the USB Settings Menu. Actually I needed to select "DM + MODEM + ADB" in USB settings. I achieve this goal using EFS Professional. I used EFS_Professional_2.1.73_Release. Just connect your phone to your computer, open EFS Professional, select tab "Samsung Tools" and select usb setting menu in drop down menu, the required menu will appear on your phone. This method is tested on 2 different S3 models where *#0808# was not working.... Hope this will help others.

Firstly safemode only allows core apps to run that came with the phone such as phone, calculator, calendar etc. that's why your apps wont open.
next for the massive data transfer I think you have a memory controller problem or a battery problem I suggest RMA or contact LG for repair
it also could be a rouge app that you install that is causing everything to crash.
Try transfer that large file on safe mode as it disables all apps except stock apps

The problem is safe mode does not work, i can launch any app on safe mode (see video watch?v=ycjK_333a70).
Is it critical?
Your bootloader is the oldest one available.
For me safe mode works without problem, ( I am using my AOSP KVT49L rom), but on Stock KOT49H I can start firefox but it chrashes. It does not work. however the apps missing from the appdrawer, but their shortcuts is on the homescreen. Some of them works and some of them crashes
I bought mine one week before crhistmas. I used it 100% on stock till february.
During that time I have not experiened any other the issues you have.

[Completed] Developer Tools & USB Debugging (Vodafone Smart 4 Mini)

My Vodafone Smart 4 Mini display went after a couple of weeks,.
I want to set this up the display on the PC that was developed by k.janku1 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2786395
I need to set up USB debugging, I was able to get to settings, by touching the display then taking a screenshot, and approximating where on the phone I need to touch.
I have navigated to the settings and can not find Development where its supposed to be
The manual shows it should be under Accessibility but it is not there or anywhere else on the settings page. Can someone help me?
Screenshot attached. (not sure how to insert images)

Recover Data from (unrooted)Nexus 5 with broken screen without UBS-Debuging turned on

Hello,
as u can read in the title the screen of my (unrooted!) Nexus 5 is broken due to a bicycle accident. The phones flashes if I receive a new message but the screen just dont turn on. Unfortunately I have USB-Debugging disabled...
Now my question is, how can I recover my data? I really need it and ofc have no backup
I read a lot but I still have no idea...
I think, because USB-Debugging is disabled, it will be a lot harder.
(Note: Because I am new, I can't post links, so I replaced "www" with "[worldwideweb.]", sorry )
I found the following tutorial on YT:
[worldwideweb.]youtube.com/watch?v=B7Z_r0Z0CEo
The problem is ofc, that the Nexus hasn't got two charging ports...
Also I found this:
[worldwideweb.]androidphonesoft.com/resources/enable-usb-debugging-android-broken-screen.html (search for "Method 2")
but there is the problem, that this tool is only available for Samsung-Devices...
Now my last hope is, that I can recover my data with adb, but also there I got the problem, that I have USB-Debugging disabled...
(And I dont know, if I have to root my phone? (and if it is even possible without working screen?...)
So my Problems are:
- No USB-Debugging enabled
- No Root
- PC recognizes my phone but not more... (in CMD: "adb devices" doesnt list any device...)
So is there a way of recover my data? It's very important for me and I would be very grateful, if anyone could help me and accompany me through the process with instructions!
I had the same problem and couldn't find a solution. I tried for 3 entire days with any method found or that came to mind. Finally I decided to change the screen with one from eBay ,the cheapest one . If you find a solution let me know. The closer I could get was using an app that was supposed to let you control and see your nexus 5 screen on your PC screen. This app of which I can't remember the name had some bugs, maybe was an old not updated app, because I could see my nexus 5 lockscreen and an arrow controlled by the PC touchpad to simulate the touch, but sadly nexus 5 couldn't react to the arrow movement,a and nexus 5 screen was not full but only a part

But I think, that ur USB-Debugging was activated, wasn't it? Because I don't think, that this would work without USB-Debugging activated...
And then it would be easy, with USB-Debugging enabled there would be like 100 ways
I found no way to retrieve data . How would you do with Usb debugging? Or maybe I don't remember correctly and was for the fact that I had a lockscreen pattern and so Usb debugging is useless... Sadly I have a lg g watch that was not settled as a trusted device to disable the security or had home wifi area to do the same. Maybe there was even the fact that after a reboot you have to put the screen pattern the first time before the automatic unlock. I even tried to recover the partition from bootloader , but if I remember correctly it was hanging after some minutes. Don't ask me why emmc was god on nexus 5, I use the PC to do phone repair, and I'm a technician. I had the same trouble copying the full sdcard partition from recovery, and even restoring it to a new nexus 5 .Because the LCD was not as the original one and I sold the repaired for the same price of another not repaired n5. In the process of copying sd card partition content , it hangs another time. Seems to not digest the copying of some files under android subwoofers. Sorry for the confusion but I don't remember correctly, it was a nightmare. I had 2 infernal weeks because N5 is my first device even to work and I had to use my second phone , a really ultra cheap and underpowered Deco 77x(dual core1ghz with 512mb of ram) which has an M and even an N ROMs that works better than the stock 4.4... Slow as hell but the only way to save my work since my mother steel my galaxy Nexus. Try only to think I had to do some tries for 2 days, order the new screen, change it at a level that was invisible and good for the new user, wait for the new, try to restore a tarp backup to a different phone, find a way because it's not possible, copy sdcard partition , copy manually all the files which broke the full automatic copy process, compare all the folders files ... It was a PITA. Now I backup every month to a Usb otg Kingston key, at least I have only to restore it to a different device and do the sdcard things.... It's slow to create a backup but I can do it when is in charge, because the USB key do charge pass through and this is greaatttt even to watch movies (don't do that always, Usb key reach a really hot temperature, but case ,Usb port or phone shell reported not even a minimal sign)
The copy stopping could be a windows 10 bug ,never had that in 7 ... This new os is s*** ,has many small fu****g bugs... I wish I never updated ,I found those bugs after 1 month so I can't go back.

Ok, so there is no good solution? :/
Can I just replace the screen with a cheap one from ebay and then use it again? This should work, shouldn't it?
You can try yourself, but I found no way, I don't want to discourage you, but I tried all comes to mind and all gone wrong, and I'm an average user. Yea you can get a pretty cheap display... I tell you the truth, I didn't changed it for a new one after the repair because the display was not good, but because I was in warranty and here in europe Google gives you a refurbished unit if you have problems with a warranty of 2 years. So because my phone repaired was 90% the same as a new phone but battery starts to degrade I took the chance to request a refurbished unit because of the battery and to reset my warranty to two years. Mine was a 2013 unit, and I asked for a change other 2 times... I m in warranty til 2018 now . Going back to the display, from a technician examination, I can tell you that all the display I bought to repair my customers units seems to be original displays with original touchscreens, only slightly variations in colours calibration like on preassembled units. Only the plastic frame sometimes seems not legit, because 2 times I found it a deeper black and more rough (like sandstone of one plus one)
So I simply buy myself a new display and replace it and then I should (ofc) be able to backup it, right?
Is there a difference between like 30$ screens to 60$ screens on ebay for example?

Wait wait
Turn the Nexus 5 ON , and other android phone with OTG SUPPORT.
Connect OTG cable to Other Android device.
Now connect your Nexus 5 to the Android device via USB cable.
Connection goes like this:
android device - otg - usb - Nexus 5
Now you can see contents of NEXUS 5 ON *other* Android device.
Hope it helps.
