I have been looking for this info but I get so many different answers that I still can't know for shour,. Does the p40 pro comes with gorilla glass 6 or not? Does anyone have a answer with a good source? If not I can't understand this move from huawei, is not like the p40 pro or pro plus are cheape so not even bother getting a top glass for the phone?
No Gorilla Glass - I believe they're using their own "AirGlass" or something like that.
Later iterations of Gorilla Glass have been too soft for my liking... I'm a scratcher and not a smasher, my P30 Pro looks pretty beat up despite Gorilla Glass being present. P40 Pro has held up well so far, few scratches, but nothing out of the ordinary. My Mate 10 Pro was my most scratch resistant screen to date (older GG)

If I not mistaken, the P30 Pro also don't have gorilla glass, that's why I'm asking about the P40 Pro. On their site, corning have a list of devices, the last huawei is the mate 20 pro. Not sure of what kind of tempered glass Huawei uses but is not near as strong as gorilla glass 6

Hmmm, I've dropped my P30 Pro LITERALLY hundreds of times and yes its scratched up, but no cracks over a year on. No case either. My friends S10e cracked around the hole punch first drop... So can't say I agree but that's fair if that's your opinion.

Hello any of the honor 8 owners can answer this question?
I can see that the glass material is very beautiful but i come from a sony z3 experience where glass is not the best material when your phone drops.
A lot of my friends with aluminium phones drop them multiple times and the phones are still OK but what about the Honor 8 glass material?
thanks
Hard to say as I've only had it a couple days. It seems like it's built pretty solid. Mine came with a free bumper/case so I'm using that (because I don't want to break the glass, especially this soon). I had a Nexus 4 before, and the glass cracked when the phone was exposed to cold temperatures...hopefully that's not the case with this design.
Its normal that metal phones are more solid, but it seems to be that the Honor 8 is pretty solid too. Just wait for an drop test
I'm afraid that when I drop it, the glasses will be broken, so I put a case on it to protect it. If you really want to have this phone, I think you take care of it.
Honor 8 comes with Corning's scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass 3 which is curved 2.5D design most the cases the glass survives drops form certain height but its recommended to use case and tempered screen glass protection for more durability :good::good:

Maybe they haven't updated this site yet, but I don't see Honor 8 on it...

I think it doesn't house a Gorilla Glass at all, as I can't find anything which confirms that it does. If any of you can, please report. It'll be good to have a good news.
Thanks

Digging up an old thread - has anyone seen a droptest to this date? Youtube gives me nothing..
Search jerryrigeverything on YouTube.
Not a drop test but will give you a clue.
Jerrrig s vid was quite impressive although i think I've seen a drop test somewhere or at least pictures of a dropped H8.
Obviously the back suffered a little and the FPS seems to be the weak spot (obviously) so that's probably the first victim.
Had mine for around three months and everything is fine so far. Only had minor drops on carpet so no damage.
But seeing as it is glass, it's probably not a good choice if you're clumsy.
You may be good dropping it once without shattering the back glasd but i wouldn't push my luck
I drop (it felt ) my honor 8 two times from the table, 1.1 m high, to the back side and fortunately nothing happened even single damage...
Hey guys, can anyone recommend a tempered glass screen protector for Huawei p20 pro? Normally look to eBay but been abit hit and miss. Any recommendations on a good case would be great too! Thanks!

Did you have any issues with the spigen? For me the sides aren't adhering properly.
With your scratches on the glass, the p20 pro does have gorilla glass and all gorilla glass phones out there can get scratches especially with bits of sand and random stuff in your pocket.

This is by far the best glass for p20 pro.
Perfect fit, great quality and rounded edges.
Just search 5d p20 pro on AliExpress, and look for this type, you won't find this good stuff in Europe or US

I've been using the Nilliken glass screen protector. Tried the other crap that doesn't adhere to the edges. The Nilliken is only 0.2 mm thick which probably helps adhering near the edges.
Used it on my P10+ and my wife's iPhone SE and great oleophobic feature which is part of the Japanese glass and not just a coating.
Installed it on my P20 off centre and it still adheres to the edges. Worth the $25.
Nillkin is smaller than the screen. Actualy a lot smaller than the actual screen. Aestheticaly is crap. Functionaly is just like all other protectors.

I bought one from Spigen, dont know that firm but im very happy. they also have a great concept on how to get the glass on the phone much easier by having sort of "handles" on the protective plastic on the glass. Plus i bought the case too, perfect fit, very robust, and works like a charm with the tempered glass

I disagree.... Not a lot smaller than the screen... Goes right up to curved edge. Wife has one on her iPhone for 2 yrs and oleophobic feature is still great.
Aestheticaly is better than most crap. Doubt if you have really tried one.
I have tried two on my p20 pro and one on my oneplus 3. Both with the same problem. They were marginally fitting on the actual screen. (i don't mean the black border of the screen. Not even close. I mean the actual screen) in general I'm a very protective user for all of my phones and even when I change for a new model, the last one is in perfect factory condition. After several amoled models that I've owned, (Samsung, huawei and oneplus) due to the curved edges of those screens, I have come to a conclusion.... I never use a tempered glass anymore. In worst case I've used iq shield wet membrane and never had any problems. In fact let's remember what everyone was doing when tempered glass wasn't around and we only had gorilla glass. I believe it's an artificialy created need, and after all these years I even dought even the idea behind the application of tempered glass. When a phone drops, if the forces are applied in that way and strength that a screen would crack it would crack. No extra glass will save you. Actually the way these glasses are applied on the screen can't prevent that. As far as scratches concerned, if gorrila glass can save you, then it's the same for every temp glass. If the one can't, so it's the other. (the only benefit it's that the temp glass you can easily change it). gorilla glass is a well documented patent with thousands of applications in daily life. I dought the same for all those generic glasses out in the market. (as for the well established companies like nilkin or spiegen etc etc, as I told above I highly dought its effectiveness for the reason I explained above.)
Its only my personal opinion from personal experience with various models from Samsung, oneplus and huawei. And for the last 10 years it served me very well.

First... I installed the Nillkin on my P20, not the Pro. It fits perfect and covers the black edges like it did on my P10+ and the SE. Can't speak for the Pro, but I doubt that Nillkin would design that one smaller!!
Second... US Corning makes Gorilla glass and Japan AGC makes Dragontrail, both great screen glasses. On both the oleophobic feature is part of the vapour deposition hardening process. Don't know what Huawei uses on the P20 series. I do know that my P20 screen is more scratch resistance and has a better oleophobic feature than my previous P10+.
Third... Nillkin uses AGC glass for their screen protectors. And I believe, the only one that is 0.2 thin. And I can speak for the oleophobic feature that doesn't wear off in a couple of months like the cheaper crap that uses a coating.
You obviously don't like or believe in glass screen protectors, that's OK, but please don't lump them all together. Most glass screen protectors are installed for scratch protection and some are way better than others.
Anybody know of one for the pro that goes all the way to the edges and uses the strip of adhesive to stay on? I had one on my V30 and used the loca glue for a perfect application from curved edge to curved edge

When I was surfing through You TUBE for P20 glass screen protectors, I did see one for the Pro that covered the curved edges, but instead of a thin strip of edge adhesive, it had the silicone covering the whole glass. I watched the typical spread when centre pressed.
I would've got that one for the P20, but couldn't find it again. Maybe someone knows where to find it.
So just discovered that the P40 pro apparently lacks Gorilla Glass, I do not do cases or screen protectors so I am wondering how durable this thing is going to be?
I think that as I am used to going caseless I am probably more careful than most and had no issues with the P30 pro that I had (or the Mate 20 pro before that)
Anybody have any battle scars yet?
I didn't even realize that, Gorilla Glass seems to be so standard on phones these days! I haven't dropped the phone yet and I've been using the included case and screen protector. I'm waiting to receive a slightly more rugged case as well as a glass screen protector, I didn't realize this phone was one drop away from cracking.
Anyone know if there is a pre-installed screen protector like on the past models? Or is the new glass strong enough they no longer need that.
I am not sure, but I just ordered the Whitestone Dome tempered glass protector for the Note 20 Ultra.... it will get here before the phone does.

I would like to know this too. I have seen a couple of unboxing videos and they do come with a screen protector on them but those are reveiw units and there is a hole in the screen protector for the fingerprint sensor. So hopefully retail units will differ. But with the new Gorrilla glass 7 I am thinking it wont.

Yes it has one on the store models
Which past models came with a screen protector?
It does not have screen protection as it is on Note10 +. It is just a wrapping foil because it has Gorilla Glass Victus which is very resistant to scratches.

But glass is glass and glass will scratch. A scratch on glass like Gorilla class is a weak point adding to a chance of it breaking. After all, Glass is glass, and glass breaks.

Only takes few grains of sand in your pocket to scratch that glass
Yes it does.
Yes it indeed comes with a screen protector.
But the quality and degree of protection it offers has not been made clear anywhere by Samsung.
I am attaching a photo of the warning paper which came with the box.
Hope that suffices for all doubters whether it really is a screen protector or just an antidust plastic cover.

Confirmed for my Hong Kong N9860. The camera cut out is the giveaway, otherwise there is almost no sign of the protector. It is extremely well fitted and feels great - smooth and clear like glass - and the fingerprint sensor is fast and reliable. And FWIW a clear TPU case was also included, nearly overlooked as I almost didn't bother opening the "paperwork" packaging.
US variant does not.
Looks like samsung usa got fed up with the customer complaints about the factory screen protectors that American customers gave them and put and end to that :good:
I remember folks on the interwebs and on here asking samsung for replacement films under warranty absolutely comical . No wonder they pulled that added feature for certain regions

I can verify the US version DOES NOT HAVE A FACTORY APPLIED SCREEN SAVER. I'd been looking to remove it if there were a factory applied screen saver like the Note10 Plus.
My Note20 Ultra has horrible screen response even with the screen sensitivity adjustment in settings on. Attempting to play games is awful especially the recently used window. I'm talking it takes 3 or more attempts actually function. The screen sensor IS picking up taps but erratically if it works at all! ?
Also has anyone else noticed their screen is actually BOWING in the center? Lift it up to a bright light while looking at the surface from an extreme angle. It's only on the screen itself, the back of the device is flawless.
I'm just curious if any else is experiencing this before I make a fool of myself trying to explain it to the world's best customer service dept. when/where there may be a language barrier. ?
Hope this helped a bit and hope to get some kind of feedback from everyday users regarding the bow in the middle of the screen.
THANKS!
UK, from Samsung direct, DOES have a screen protector. No issues so far, My Note 10+ did, I thought maybe my 9 did too but my memory isn't what it was.
Personal experience on 3 phones - don't buy Whitestone - fingerprint sensor wouldn't work. Paid YouTubers say it does 100%, many on here do too, but never for me and it's an expensive fail.

My note 9 didn't have any. But I broke the glas on it and had it repaired and then it came with preinstalled screen protector.
Notwithstanding where on the planet you purchase your Galaxy S20 handset from, it will have a screen defender on it. While it doesn't offer a similar sort of insurance that you can get from a treated glass defender, it works admirably of protecting your showcase from dings and scratches.
Got my N986B Note 20 ultra 5G in France with my carrier SFR and it got screen protector pre-installed

Hello guys,
I'm looking for the best case and screen protector for my Realme X50 pro.
I have not found good cases. I've tried several screen protectors but always the same problems : size, bubbles...)
Thanks.
Hey.
I'm in the UK and because this isn't a very popular phone (most people haven't heard of it!) it's been very difficult getting a good case and screen protector. Here's what I have though.
Migimi Screen Protector for Realme X50 pro, [3-Pack] Tempered Glass Protective Film [Anti-Scratch] [Bubble Free] [Case Friendly] 9H HD Clear Glass Screen Protector for Realme X50 pro
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B087J9394D/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The first one went on with no bubbles. It could maybe be a little longer, or maybe I could've put it on a bit lower, but size wise it's OK. Don't have the money right now but think I may end up getting the OnePlus Nord official screen protector and trying that as they both have a 6.44 inch screen.
I ordered about 5 different cases and this is the one that I stuck with and have been using for 2 months now
Slim Matte Leather Case for OPPO Reno 2 Z 2Z 4 Pro ACE 10X Case Realme X50 5 Pro X2 XT Q R9s R11 R11s Plus Car Holder Cover Case
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000891945328.html
The case is NOT leather, you can tell that from the pictures. The green stripe on the back is just a sticker which comes off easily and the case looks better without it. It doesn't overlap the screen so you cannot lay the phone face down. It does have a large metal plate in the back for using with magnetic car phone holders, which I do like.
Overall, it's a great phone but due to the issues with accessories outside of China/India I'll probably stick with a more well known brand in future.
