Tablet unresponsive for minutes when turning on screen - General Questions and Answers

Hello,
My Tablet - Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 Wi-Fi (stock Android v.7) gets unresponsive when I turn on the screen after being left idle for some hours. After installing a monitor app I noticed the Disk reading values will be at 100% for some time (3 or 4 minutes) and only when it lowers to values near 10% will the tablet become responsive.
Any suggestions?
How can I identify the apps that are taking over Disk readings?
Thanks!

[Q] Screen Timeout + Wi-fi Disconnect

I have my G tablet running with the TnTLite 2.0 (with the overlay) and I'm pretty satisfied with it.
While using Pandora, moments after the screen sleeps, the wi-fi connection seems to drop. In the advanced Wi-fi settings, I have the sleep setting set to never. I have the screen timeout set at 10 minutes.
Is it possible to have the screen off and keep applications running in the background (e.g., music playing)??

Click to collapse
This is a known issue and so far I havent seen any of the ROMS that seem to stop it. There is also a hugh 'lag' after it's been asleep for a while, almost as if it takes a minute or so t 'wake up and get going'.
It almost seems to me that it is better to turn the thing off of your not gonna use it for a bit.
HOWEVER, the battery life on this thing in unbelievable so it would hurt to leave it on for a few hours if your listening to Pandora. Ive easily gotten 8 - 10 hours of use with movies and angry birds.
Food for thought.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S II Set CPU help

When I use Set CPU my phone will freeze up randomly, the screen goes completely black and I lose a large chunk of battery when I get it turned back on. This is really annoying, do I have a setting wrong?

[Q] Battery life of Galaxy Note 10.1

I just got my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (GT - N8000) as I observed, I only got 8 hours in my first recharge, then 2nd 12 hours, 3rd 13 hours and 43 minutes.... It seems like a get a really short battery life.... I only use it for browsing the web (chrome), playing some games (temple run, pitfall, beach buggy and more), and flipboard..... My brightness is set to Auto, Power Saving is on when I reached 10% and my SIM is active but mobile data is off... Is there something wrong with my tablet? Thanks in advance for the reply! :cyclops:
is that screen time? or does it drain simply sitting idle. I get about 10 hours of up time for the screen. sometimes don't charge for 3-4 days if I'm not using it much. btw mine is WiFi only, are you roaming or searching for signal often?
Use power save mode if your doing light browsing ect. 8to 12 is what you can expect from a tablet. Screen time that is.
Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 - Battery Life
The key here people is the brightness setting.
I personally get 5 hours 30 mins screen time on Full Brightness with Wi-fi & Mobile active, not using Power Saver.
With 15% battery remaining, never run your lithium-iron battery too low, can shorten the life span.
Here are some other peoples figures:
(8 hours and 15 minutes - Continuous Video Playback, Auto Brightness)
In practice, the slate lasts a bit longer than 8 hours and 15 minutes with continuous video playback, and anywhere from 8 hours to 9 hours and 40 minutes with more varied usage (smaller video games without loads of graphics, web browsing, e-mails, photo editing and some video).

(8 hours plus - Mixed Usage - Power Save Mode)
In a single charge from its proprietary cable, the Galaxy Note 10.1 with its 7,000mAh battery should last you all day. In a mixed scenario of browsing, video and productivity, it lasted us well over eight hours, though that was with the Power Savings setting activated.

(5 hours 17 minutes - Continuous Mobile Surfing - Suspect Auto Bright)
(8 hours 57 minutes - Continuous Wi-fi Surfing - Suspect Auto Bright)
The Galaxy Note 10.1 for Verizon lasted just 5 hours and 17 minutes on the LAPTOP Battery Test (continuous Web surfing over 4G LTE). When we switched off LTE and ran the test over the Note 10.1's Wi-Fi connection, battery life increased to 8 hours and 57 minutes.

(5 hours - Heavy Usage - Full Brightness)
(6 hours - Regular Usage - Suspect Full Brightness)
We managed around five hours of intensive punishment (streaming and looping an HD video on full brightness). This equates to around six to seven hour of regular use.

At full brightness (I really want to use my device at full brightness all the time), power battery widget pro report only 3h30' of screen on and continuous usage time from 100% to 0%.

AOSP high energy usage

Hello,
I am measuring energy usage on a Samsung Galaxy Nexus using an external power monitor.
I have built a 4.1.2 full_maguro-userdebug AOSP and noticing some strange results:
The device continuously uses almost 200mW, with everything turned off
Every 10 seconds, like clockwork, the power surges to 1W for 3-4 seconds, then drops back to 200mW
This is with the stock kernel, with no modifications and with no applications installed. I simply added
the 5 binary packages provided by Google for JZO54K.
I also tried the factory images provided by Google (JZO54K) and the power usage is better:
When sleeping the power stays somewhere near 12mW, with very short spikes of up to 100mW every second
When SSH-ing to the device (over BT) and performing a few commands in rapid succession it enters a state of 200mW, and stays in it for minutes
What could be causing this ? Could it be because it's a userdebug variant ? Did I forget including something in the ROM ? Could some process keep waking up the device ? I checked and there are no wakelocks taken. Any ideas how I should go about debugging this issue ?
Thank you for your time.

Answering call problem with flipcover case

Hello,
I have a strange problem with my phone. I use the original flip cover case. When the phone is upside down (screen facing down) and a call comes. I pick up the phone and open the flip cover, I can see who is calling but the touch screen do not respond. I can not control the call, I have to press the power button twice so the screen closes and opens, then I gain control on the screen.
This problem does not occur when I use the phone without flip cover case or when I leave the phone with screen facing up.
Do you have this problem with your phone?
I have this problem with all roms that I tried. But when I use an auto screen on off program for flip cover phones, my problem solved. The program make my phone awake all the time, it seems disturbing at the beginning but I saw that the battery consumption of my kitkat rom decreased while my phone is idle (screen off). Normally my kitkat rom uses 4-5% per hour when screen off but with this program it decreased to 1.5-2% per hour. So I also found an indirect solution for my kitkat rom that do not go into deep sleep
Also I noticed that the cpu usage is high (1209 Mhz) while the screen is off, so I used a cpu tuner program to reduce it while screen is off. And the battery consumption reduced to nearly %1 per hour while screen is off.
A rom developer can use this and write a code that awake the phone but not using battery like auto screen on off program.
