In the Mi9, K20 it's possible to overclock the refresh rate of an AMOLED screen to 70-80Hz. Someone tried the same for an IPS ?
BTW you can overclock the LCD - IPS in PC desktop monitor. So the matrix type shouldn't be an obstacle
On the Pocophone F1 with the same Snapdragon 845 and IPS screen, there are some kernels to get up to 75hz. I have the Mi MIX 2S, waiting for a modded kernel...

Do not compare a desktop monitor to a small phone display.
Our displays can get to about max 64-65hz without causing much issues but the difference can't be even seen.
It's certainly not worth the risk since the panel isn't designed to handle such things as an overclock.
Please, don't ask or wait for kernels that support a display OC, it's not safe to use such things.
Best regards

Does a larger touch screen With same resolution need a faster cpu?
My doubt is about larger touch screen, not actual screen size. Would touch-scrolling run smooth With 800x480 resolution and 5.3" size?
This could be The case: use blu studio 5.3" screen With ZTE tania hw.
If the screen is of same resolution, the load on the SOC is the same.

Thanks. I hope bluproducts (and other minor manufacturers) will offer WP devices soon.
MS should give WP to manufacturers for free and ask a fee for xbox live/bing maps only (the way nokia is doing With its maps)
Displaying the same resolution uses the same CPU cycles regardless of physical screen size. However, a larger screen size might require a more detailed touch-sensor grid and I'm not sure if that would result in more CPU cycles or just greater battery drain (relatively speaking).
but on big screen lags are more visible!
so from user experience point, large screen devices need better CPU

that's exactly what I was asking.
I'd try produce a 5" WP with 1Ghz for 199 similar to the blue studio offer

WP7 doesn't lag.

That's right. Unfortunately ZTE didn't release a 5" WP but just another 4.3"
A 199 5" WP would sell very very well.
Unless they tweak the god damn OS to a new level with higher resolution... i don't want any kind of devices that i have to see my pictures as numerous of square pixels (visibly)
And i don't think that you would ever have WP on a tablet and 5.inch is something related to a tablet, not a phone anymore. my Titan is 4.7 inch and it has touch the lowest PPI and the size of my pocket.

resolution is fine imo. 10" netbooks are usually 1366x768 therefore 5" @ 800x480 are more than accettable.
regarding WP on a 5.3" tablet, why not ? you know women's purses sometimes are so small that no tablet could fit into them...
Is there any possible way to install 90hz refresh mod ( present in Oneplus 7t ) on our Oneplus 7 ?
Is our OP7 supports that?
I saw some xiaomi flagships has such mods installed but why not in OP7 till now?
Any good reason?
Does it has anything to do with Fluid Amoled display?
Nonsense, it's hardware related, op7 screen only capable 60hz

you can't overclock amoled panel. though you can overclock lcd panel. i have used my poco f1 in 70hz.

How come Xiaomi k20 pro with super amoled display capable for 90hz refresh rate then? is this a nonsense too?

Do you know how to do it? Any links or posts or topics ?
There are quite a few 60hz refresh rate phones that can use the 90hz refresh rate. Currently I have not found a way to open the 90hz refresh rate on Oneplus 7. I tried this app to turn on the 90hz refresh rate, because Oneplus 7 has no DTBO, it has not been successfully opened 90hz. But this is not due to hardware.
I request any developer to develop a mod for 90hz refresh rate for our op7 or provide a process to do so that i will test on my phone..
I'm pretty sure there's a way to increase the refresh rate.
What we'll need to find out, when a Dev actually looks into that, is how stable is it, and by how much? And will it be convenient enough (battery, durability).
I really hope that the screen is actually as good as OP7T
Any news about that?

The app has been updated, but it still does not work for OnePlus 7.
There are many factors here.
For example: Mi 9 uses an 85Hz panel underclocked to 60Hz, that's the reason why this type of mods can easily enable this feature without any side effects (Ignoring the extra energy consumption of course), I don't know how Redmi K20/Mi9T screen is, but I assume it will be something similar.
Another important thing to keep in mind: OnePlus uses command-mode to control the panel (this method precludes any external modification that is attempted over the panel controller) while Xiaomi for some strange who-knows-reason uses video-mode (If I'm not wrong, Xiaomi is the only manufacturer that uses this method in high-end devices with OLED panels), and basically this method facilitates modifications to the the different dtbo's/panel controllers.
I don't want to break anyone's hopes, but currently I don't think anyone outside Samsung has the ability to change the refresh rate of this panel, these screens were strongly designed to work this way and only in this way.
There's an article saying that Sony's LCD screens can be overclocked to 120Hz. I was exited because high refresh rate screen is my second priority right after proccessor. Currently, Asus Zenfone 6 has all of the features I want:
- Headphone Jack (I drop OP7T out of my list because of this reason)
- Great Proccessor (Snapdragon 855)
- LCD screen (I prefer true color as my eyes hurt when I use AMOLED display unless I turn night mode on, which ruins the whole concept of vibrant and beautiful it provides. Also, no burn-in)
- Almost stock-Android (further more, Asus seems to be trying their best with their newest UI).
- Full screen display.
Is it possible to overclock the screen to 120Hz ? It has an LCD screen, similar to that of Sony, lower resolution is not a problem since I'm ok 1080 at the moment. If it's possible, this phone will destroy all last year Midrangers. Hope that you guys will answer!
From what I can deduce from the Proton Kernel post https://forum.xda-developers.com/ze.../kernel-zenfone-6-proton-kernel-v1-0-t3963948 it's maximum overclocking capabilities are 75Hz but most panels only manage 72Hz without artifacts according to the most recent changelog.
Hey guys,
Just a maybe stupid but not completely impossible idea: is there a way to over clock the screen to more than 90hz? maybe 120hz ?LOL
"Not completely impossible": i remember xiaomi mi9t (k20) has a setting and was to over clocked to 75hz on a 60hz screen.
Hope this is doable.
Update: link in my post below.
I think you can't
To back up me question, here is the link to screen overclocking thread for mi 9t/9t pro
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-9t/themes/mod-overclock-screen-to-75hz-refresh-t3951339
Pretty sure you could only overclock the Mi9T panel because it used a cheaper panel. Oneplus phones have never seen success overclocking past stock.
I have heard from lot of people that poco's display quality is less than average is it true ? I wanted to buy this phone pls tell me if I should or not ^_^
The display is probably one of the weakest features of Poco X3 Pro, for me at least. IPS LCD, 450 nits, so the max brightness is just "average". Indoor use is completely fine but outside, much more difficult to see your display easily. There is no problem with the resolution or picture quality itself btw, these are both excellent. The display size is also outstanding at 6.67 inches. I am simply making reference to the brightness level which I find not poor, but just average. Any phone with an AMOLED display will easily crush the Poco X3 Pro. For example, in the same price range, you can get Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro. This has an AMOLED display. So if display feauture is very important to you, consider this or something else instead. Where Poco X3 Pro shines is the excellent CPU, GPU and fast UFS 3.1 storage. Ultimately, these were more important features for me. But only you can decide what features are most important for you.
The screen is very good. I'm an amoled guy and I was worried about moving to an IPS screen but the contrast ratio is excellent and blacks are really black. I'm very happy with the screen. The only issue are there is a little bit of ghosting when you are scrolling text and the brightness is only 450 nits. Apart from that all is good.
