There are several topics on red dim light (emitting out of proximity sensor) on the galaxy note 2 just left to the front facing camera. I was having same problem for 2-3 days back, one of two sensors beside front facing camera lit up continuously showing red dim light even with phone screen off or at standby mode. I searched a lot about this topic and was disappointed. There was also solution given by one senior member about uninstalling Viber, Viber was found as culprit messing with proximity sensor and keeping it on all the time. This really helped a bit. Here is solution.
It is not only Viber a culprit but you have to go into flashback and recall which was the last app you have installed after which actually the problem started, mine was rockettalk, all these are kind of apps which deal with instant messaging, internet calling, etc Just recall and find out such app and uninstall it, after that just reboot your device and check whether the quick glance feature is off i.e., settings/motion/quick glance, make sure it is not ticked. Reboot our device and thats it........!!! The annoying red dim light is gone
i9100 proximity sensor doesn't work
Hi to all!
I have the issue with proximity sensor and didn't manage to find a solution in other similar threads!
The matter is that it is always stay as Released.
In the same time in test screen (*#0*#) there are changing reading for PROXIMITY parameter from 2 up to 240 with no ADC parameter at all. Please look for screenshots. PROXIMITY parameter changes its value when I move my finger in front of the sensor, but as I can understand Android doesn't recognize it because of ADC absence.
Moreover I tried to change proximity sensor for working one (from another phone), but it shows the same as mine (with no ADC readings).
After all I think it is software problem, but I don't know how to solve it. I flashed different firmwares (now it is XWMSE NeatROM v.6.4), but nothing helped.
Please assist! Thanks!
hello, so already, i'm sorry for my english, i'm french, and i'm using Google translation ? recently on my note 10, i wanted to try the AOD in permanent display, but i noticed that even in my pocket, the display is still active, it's normal? I even made a factory restore, I even tested the command * # 77692 # to check my proximity sensor and it works, no problem either during a phone call my sensor works well.

AOD screen will dim when in the pocket, but not turn off. Over a week or two ago AOD was updated through Galaxy Store and possible there is a bug or Samsung decided to change the behavior of when the phone is in the pocket.
thank you very much for the answer
Try with Tap to show option maybe.
hi, is anybody know if there any mod (magisk/xposed) that disable proximity sensor only?
already tried disable sensor on developer mode toggle, it working fine, but i only need the proximity sensor off (faulty hardware)
it makes the screen goes always black if receiving/call (phone & whatspp)
Already tried sensor disabler on Xposed also not working as it already outdated
im using 10.3.4 oxysgenOS
Try turning off the pocket mode in settings. Otherwise you'll have to manually press the power button so that it doesn't become dark.

Hello,
I have the same problem, did you find a solution?
Thanks
nope
i think the hardware sensor is faulty, and you need to change it
temporary solution is to disable hardware sensor on quick toggle (enable it on developer mode)
disable on receiving call, enable it again after that
i replaced the sensor (have to replace the damage oled screen because fall of the ground)
and now its working again
Appears to be an issue with the Always on Display. Disabling that should resolve the issue.

by the way feel free to spam their support email as this issue has been going on too long!

Solution : enable developer options, and enable keep screen on while charging.
yup screen on = no Always on display..
though also battery and burn in aint good...
Screen will remain on, but brightness will drop to minimum level as the phone is left idle. When looking at the phone while driving, it looks almost off, the home screen is barely visible.
would be great if someone could build a tasker or Automate task that turned off AOD when AA is running.. though you prob need Root..
Anyone having a issue after C62 update of it just now not connecting at all?
jipp here.
android auto refuses the connection after the update.
My head unit is trying to connect while oppo is asking which usb type should be choosen (load/ android auto/mtp or so)
Selecting android auto results in a connection abort and a short vibration.
Already cleared app data, cache and even reinstalled android auto with no effort.
wow oppo really sucks..
just got CPH2025_11_C.53 - android auto is working flawless again

Hi guys,
I have a Find X2 Lite with CPH2005VF_11_C_78..
after the android 11 update android auto start to freeze switching apps (ex from maps to spotify a 15 seconds black sceen) or when navigating has to turn direction (the cursor start flickering and after a while the navigation resume).
Is this a similar problem to yours? any suggestion?
my oppo f1s always turn off even after restart, how to fix my boss?
Images on the lock screen, crash the Android Auto. It is an OS problem. Here is what to do, till the problem is solved :
-Go to Settings, Security, Smart Lock and and your car a trusted device. That way you have your phone unlocked while driving and fingerprint disappears.
(You can also remove fingerprint from lock screen by going to Settings, Passwords & Biometrics, Fingerprint, Screen-off unlock and select off, but then you have to wake up your phone before being able to use fingerprint)
-Go to Settings, ..Always-On Display, Always-On Display and disable it. (You can also select Always-On Display with battery saver, which turns off image after some seconds, but on those seconds, the Andriod Auto is crashed)
@[email protected]$#[email protected]& OnePlus, OPPO and Color OS...
Same thing at OnePlus 8T with OxygenOS 12 (which is ColorOS 12).
After update to 12 I still have some problems with AA. Now phone is totally unusable (totally laggy or black screen) when connected to AA and after when disconnected - must wait ca. 5 min or restart phone.
But... After reading this tread I turn off AOD. And stil same. Then I turn off also fingerprint reader at turned off display. And... Everything works perfectly
Will test AOD on, FP on and Smart Lock at my car. But OPPO is a joke...
I am facing battry drain problem since android 12 update, more then 20% overnight.
(Not facing this on android 11)
I was not in beta and installed stable build directly through OTA.
Hoping to solve problem without factory reset
Also, I have noticed proximity sensor always on, no matter screen is on or off even in safe mode, visible only through a camera
Any suggestions
as for your proximity sensor, I think that is normal if you have enabled "lift to check phone." that is enabled by default so you have to disable it.
